George Michael's in Scarborough

Fantastic service, with lovely people who make you feel very welcome.

The food was not the best qlthough the veg on the side was lovely, the service is slow but on the hole friendly. The place is dated and the atmosphere is not great, it was quiet for Christmas eve eve and a Saturday night so expected more.

Just been for a meal and feel a bit underwhelmed

Awful steak, asked medium rare and got extremely well done terrible 1980s decor staff were more worried about talk tha talking drinks or food orders.

Warm friendly, service was good, food was great, never been here before and as we was a large party, we will all be going there again. As they made us all feel welcome.

I absolutely love this little treasure. Service is always spot on food, which has been excellent every time I've been.

Disappointing meal all round. The meatballs to start with were just OK. The mains of mousaka and beef stefado were poor. The mousaka was served warm, not piping hot as you'd expect, hardly contained any meat and overall lacked flavour. The beef in the stefado was dry and chewy and again lacked flavour. This was the second time where the food has been under par and so we won't be back. This is a shame as the food used to be amazing.

It's absolutely fabulous. The food was delicious. We will be going to eat here again.

Getting a table for 7 at short notice is never easy, tonight we got lucky. The welcome was warm and we were seated as soon as we introduced ourselves. The ladies who looked after us were friendly and fun as well as very efficient. The wine was served quickly and we were given time to make our menu choices. The starters, mains and desserts were lovely and the portion sizes generous. We all made different choices and enjoyed everything we had. I think we drank them out of Barolo! At the end of our evening we chatted with the two lovely ladies who had looked after us so well. It was such a good evening and a great place for our last night in Scarborough. Thank you so much Mrs George and Mrs Michael.

Really lovely place, my first time visit with some friends. We ordered the meze and the food was delicious. It just kept coming! Very nice place, I would come again the next time I visit Scarborough. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Dont order the mezie ,,,, unless you got plenty room in your belly lol thougy recommended not one thing we did not like or eat , piping hot , and very tasty , will definitely eat here again 5☆

Me and my husband went for our anniversary. The starters were lovely I had humus and my husband had cod roe . But the main meal well my husband had the lamb and he said it was delicious, the veg was nice but I had the beef and it was was like vinegar, it sucked the moisture out your mouth , I couldn’t eat it . But what got me mad is that the 3 women (2 older n 1 younger ) stood at the bar looking straight at me , knowing I had a problem with my food but not one of them came over but while we were eating the starters we were asked if everything was ok . When I reluctantly went to pay the lady said “ we noticed you didn’t like ya meal “ but yet she didn’t come over .I didn’t want to make a scene as I was fuming so I just paid n left . Very disappointed won’t be going back , very poor service , spoilt my night .

Reminiscent of a 1970s berni inn with a few Greek fishes added. Decor wise, and menu wise we felt like we’d gone back to the 1970s. The food was bland and greek dishes were very inauthentic. But because it felt nostalgic and entertaining we enjoyed our evening even down to seeing “duck a l’orange” flamed on a trolley at a neighbouring table, and finishing off our meal with liqueur coffees. We felt like we were in a time warp. We would have loved a green veg as part of the veg selection, some herbs and seasoning in the moussaka and a Greek salad that wasn’t mostly iceberg lettuce. Finding nice places to eat healthy tasty food in Scarborough does seem to be tricky.

Excellent home cooked food. Traditional favourites like duck in orange and melon balls. Tasty, honest, food at a fair price.

We go regularly to this restaurant which is one of the best restaurants in Scarborough for a fillet steak. We all had steaks and everyone devoured everythig on the plates. I have been going here for over twenty years and it is without doubt the best steak restaurant I have ever been in. On some occasions I have had other main courses which have all been good but I cannot say no to their fillet steaks.

We have walked past this restaurant many times over the years when visiting Scarborough, instead of passing by when looking for somewhere for an evening meal we looked at the menu and went in, we ordered the mezze, wow absolutely amazing, lovely meal at a reasonable price, excellent service. Will definitely go again on another trip.

What a lovely meal. Having visited Askims the night before and having a terrible experience, this was a gem. We had the Mezze. This was delightful. The service was great. Thank you.

Shockingly bad frozen food and rude waitress!!

Went to this restaurant on strength of greek menu and was not disappointed.The starters were excellent and the beef stifado superb.Gail had swordfish,which is a particular favorite,and it was cooked to perfection.Will be back when next in Scarborough.

Looks a bit dated on entering, but has that Greek Taverna feel. Brilliant value for money with a good set menu. Been here a few times over the years and the food is always of the same really good standard.

My expectations were surpassed by this lovely characterful restaurant in Scarborough I had the Taramasalata starter to share which came with warm pitta bread and I also ordered a nice garlic buttery bread to go with it My main course was the swordfish which came with a nice selection of different vegetables including roast potatoes and some very interesting and tasty cheesy carrots My girlfriend had the beef stifado which was equally lovely with a great rich gravy sauce All in all a very pleasant experience and nice staff I will definitely return when I’m next in Scarborough

Great little Greek restaurant food excellent only downside was when I asked for another couple of drinks never came as the lady was who was serving us had a face like thunder on her or would have given it a 5

Definitely not "authentic" Greek. I have never been in a Greek restaurant, either in UK or Greece, where they don't know what gyros is. I ended up ordering a mixed souvlaki, which come as plain chicken and pork with some salad, and I have also never had cauliflower, carrot, boiled and roast potatoes with a Greek meal before. They only offered a limited Greek menu, and served it with English sides

We were looking forward to a meal here but found the food to be quite bland. Moussaka is a greek staple but ours was below parr. Much better eateries in Scarborough.

It's a tradition with me to have a nice meal on my last night in places I visit so dinner at George Michael's was wonderful - we both chose Moussaka which is the best I ever tasted.

Me and my wife were looking for somewhere to eat so we popped in. We noticed a couple of reviews on about carrots and stuff saying they weren't traditional greek food, let me tell you, we got some, we didn't care they were cooked beautifully as was everything else. All the food was heavenly and worthy of a Kings grand feast. I've never tasted food so delicious since my grandma's cooking and she was employed by a former mayor of Berwick upon tweed as their cook. Which tells you how good she was. If you've never been go, you won't regret it just as we sont regret setting foot into their establishment.

Have used this restaurant a lot since we came across it by chance. Food absolutely fantastic and delicious. Staff are friendly and polite. Kitchen never stops. Definitely worth a visit. We will definitely be back next time we stay in Scarborough.

First time we've ever been here after walking past it every time we visit Scarborough. .....lovely restaurant. The staff are helpful and kind, the service was excellent and the food was superb. I had swordfish which was delicious whilst my husband had the veal, he said that was very nice. It was a very busy Saturday evening when we visited but that didn't impact on the service at all....spot on. After our meal we sat in the bar at the front of the restaurant to finish our wine.....we'll definitely be back

Another amazing meal at George Michaels. Tzatziki and warm pitta strips pork meatballs in tomato sauce. Chicken a la crema and lovely fresh veg followed by Black Forest Gateau. A great value filling and delicious meal. We'll see you next time

My favourite restaurant all ways good food the best service

Superb meal. We have visited many times over the years and have always had a great experience. Traditional Greek/Cypriot menu. We had tzatziki & a meatballs starters, moussaka & beef stifado main courses with a nice bottle of Aphroditie. We even managed pudding!

Lovely restaurant, nice feeling around the place. Food was stunning, I don't know why they gave me a steak knife for my sirloin as a butter knife would have been fine as the steak was so tender. The veal was amazing. Something I wouldn't have at home. Highly recommend here.

We booked a table for 8:00pm and was seated promptly. The place was lovely with many diners enjoying good and drinks. We ordered a bottle of wine and opted for the mezes which didn't disappoint. We were completely full as it seemed like the food just kept coming and coming. There is no need to order starters or puddings with the mezes as you have more than enough. We saw diners taking home their leftover food and wine so nothing wasted. Staff were super friendly and definitely recommend 😊

Poor quality food in a restaurant stuck in the dark ages. Starters arrived within few minutes of ordering. Mains arrived instantly after starter plates cleared. Everything reheated or cooked from frozen.
