George and Dragon in Wycombe

Once shown to our table it was obvious the place wasn’t cleaned properly. My feet were sticking to tenge floor, the table wasn’t clean and neither were the surrounding ledges. I ordered a bacon and cheese burger, which, when it arrived, was small and the burger was like eating a burnt brick, it must have been cooked for hours. I was so disgusted that I asked the waiter to take it away and that I didn’t want a replacement. I am 60 years old and this is the first time I have ever returned a meal. My husband refused to pay for the meal although the waiter did try to charge us for half of it, even tough I had had about one mouthful. Needless to say we will never visit this establishment again.

It was one of our first evenings out without the kids in a while, and we wanted to sit by the river. The lovely waiter, Will, was incredibly helpful. He remembered our request for a riverside table and made sure we got it as soon as one became available. He was friendly throughout the evening. We were also served by a lady named Ellie, who was exceptionally kind and welcoming. We truly appreciate the staff at this place!

Visited this pub recently. Not a good experience. Dirty, smelly and down at heel. 30 years ago this was a lovely pub serving decent food. What went wrong?

Lovely place to arrange a family meal. Staff were great, albeit slightly warm inside without any air-conditioning. Lovely food and great staff..

Took advantage of their two mains for £11.99. No complaints at all. We have visited this place in the past and only once was it below par. Don’t expect haut cuisine but do expect good wholesome pub grub. Oh and they have repaired the urinals! At last

Best service in Marlow This place is great for food and meeting up with friends. We come on a regular basis with friends to drink and having some food . Staff always gets involved and has a laugh with us. Will be spending alot more time there. Ach Charlotte always friendly and kitchen service is amazing food was hot and we kitchen open tll 21:30 we can still have dessert late and the bar cocktails are amazing made by ach. Loved the place. And the staff 👍👍

This is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The absolute minimalist staff are useless and non attentive! Usually smoking outside ( the locals can’t stand them and are always complaining at how they treat customers) They have have literally no customer service skills and lie through their teeth like the bar is closed at 22.00 when the welcoming email states 22.30 - I witnessed the staff turning away customers looking to eat at 20.30 again when the email state kitchen closes at 21.00. Though that did the prospective customers a favour as the food is the absolute worst overpriced dog food you could ever get served ! I myself got a refund for seriously sub standard food. The rooms certainly do not look like the pictures on the website probably the most shocking and shoddy work I’ve ever seen and I’m sure they literally got the furniture out of a skip it’s unbelievable.do yourselves a favour and look elsewhere because you’ll find much better places at a fraction of the price this shambolic place charges. Honestly it’s unbelievably terrible Take your chances if you don’t believe me. There are plenty of other places 2 to 5 miles away that are like the Ritz in comparison. I don’t normally do reviews but this place deserves warning others not to waste money and have a bad experience.. I really could go on and on with the faults but hopefully you get the gist this place should be avoided. You have been warned.

What a blast! Not only did we receive amazing service from Charlotte who gave us the best Marlow experience, at The George & The Dragon, but she also made us feel like totally loved customers. There are a lot of pubs in England, but the ones you come back to are the ones that make you feel like a local. 5 stars, would come back again.

Had a full english here and it was very good, highly recommended

Good steak and jacket potato not long to wait and not too busy.

Popped in for an afternoon drink . Only a couple of other tables occupied. The majority of seats were filthy or ripped . The carpet looked like it hadn’t been hoovered for a few days . Cobwebs all over the place , didn’t eat here as it was so dirty !

Rather disappointing. It says Sunday lunch is served from 12 pm to 4pm, at 2 pm we were told that they had no Sunday lunches left. We had to order from the regular menu, when the food arrived it was very average and not that much of it. There was only one bar staff on so that meant a long wait for drinks and the toilets weren't very clean. All in all, not a great experience and we won't be going back again.

Awful. Firstly they forgot the cutlery and bread with the starters. Ok fixable. Then, when we were asked if we were ready for the mains they arrived immediately so we're obviously not freshly cooked. Of course they were lukewarm at best. We had ordered 2 steaks, one with chips and onion rings, and one with salad. Both came with chips and onion rings. They then organised a poor salad, and gave us even more onion rings which we didn't want. A really disappointing experience. Usually the restaurants attached to Premier Inns are very reliable but this was awful. We have not eaten breakfast there.

Table booked on arrival at our table no cutlery or condiments had to get our own,waiter could hardly speak English when food arrived the Steak was all fat n gristle and overcooked very dry and inedible. Best Mother’s Day meal very cheap 19.99£. For 3 course meals that’s barging we been served by ash is good waiter we received the food on time and also Kay is the manager gave us good service and make sure we received the food nice and hot. And he checked after five minutes if we are happy with are meal best teams 👍👍👍

if you want food poisoning come to this place chicken wasn’t cooked twice service was really slow and poor won’t be going back highly recommend not going

We had booked a table online but when we arrived there was no record of our booking the restaurant was a mess with uncleared tables and menus scattered everywhere. When we asked the waiter who was wearing an AirPod for items from the menu he had to keep going to the kitchen to check if they were available. We ordered chicken wings as a starter and these weren’t cooked properly so had to be returned to the kitchen, when our mains arrived the chicken in the smothered chicken was almost raw it was full of blood and would have made my daughter ill if she had eaten it, we were offered a replacement but the rest of us had eaten by the time her lasagna arrived this was quite clearly microwaved and the cheese was like plastic. We did get the wings and the chicken removed from the bill but wouldn’t expect anything less. We will not be returning to The George and Dragon.

Scruffy outside Needs another reverb already

I'm sad to have to leave a critical review because I used to love this place (I still like it). You wouldn't think that a place like Marlow was that cost conscious but for some reason they have been altering the Menu for the worse and are being mean with the Steak. Being of a certain age (67) my taste is very 70s and i usually have Prawn Cocktail as a Starter and it is always absolutely awesome here, with the Marie sauce made with really top quality tangy Mayonnaise, so no complaints on this ! Next Steak & Chips, this is where we have problems. Only 8 oz steaks are now available (larger were available in the past) and tbh when the Steak arrived it looked like a 5 or may be 6 oz not 8 oz. So you are forced to either have a Starter or go for the Mixed Grill which is too much meat for me. Why be so mean with the Steak portion? (of course people will remember) Put the price up by a couple of quid instead. Another favorite gripe of mine is how Steak restaurants (not just this one) just show the oligatory half a tomato the grill so it's still raw and hard; even asking for it to be well done is no use. Tomatoes completely change their flavour once cooked (as does cheese) and I don't like them raw. Now for the desserts .... they used to offer a Mini Pudding with a cup of Coffee which was just right for those watching their calories but this combo has now inexpicably been dropped. If their strategy was that people would then go for the full size puddings well that didn't work with our table of 5, we just skipped the pudding and had a Coffee only so a chunk of revenue missed. If the Mini Puddings were loss making increase the price, don't remove the choice please. Please remember that footfall can reduce due to declining quality, not necessarliy because the place is too expensive (although of course low quality and high prices won't get you very far).

Delicious food and good service . I enjoy sirloin steak and pornstarmartini cocktail is made by ash is great kitchen is very quick we have food in 10 minutes we enjoy the best steak ever and the new chef is great we recommend this place to be the best in Marlow and we will give five star for the food and hygiene service. Best bar stuff ach is the best cocktail bartender we staff party last week food was amazing and drinks Our stay Brilliant stay, hotel food and service was brilliant. Continental was buffet style, full English was plated and hot The inn was warm and cosy, would recommend to friends and family . Looking forward to visiting again and trying out the new menu.

A lovely pub that sells tasty food, we went out to celebrate a friend's birthday. We really enjoyed our roast dinners, steak, pies and scampi not to mention the yummy chocolate brownie. The staff were very friendly and helpful and a big shout out to: Kay, the Manager, who was very kind, Olivia who was very helpful and kitchen staff Dan and Dehisa who did a great job behind the scenes. Very poor to average food that took over an hour to come out. In a very quiet pub. Over 40 mins after ordering they informed us one of the items was not available please order something else. No apology. The ribs were inedible by some one who just about eats anything. Roast was OK although promised 3 options weren't available and the veg very overbooked. And roast potatoes were soggy .

Came in as it was fairly quiet and came in to enjoy a meal, food was lovely, fresh and hot, steak was cooked to perfection, full of flavour definitely come back to there homely cooked roasts

Very poor food and the staff didn’t even know what drinks were behind the bar. The food ( roast) was microwaved and luke warm. Very very poor value for money I will not be returning here.

I remember going here with my family a few years ago and thinking that it was a good experience, with quality food. It has now slumped into the realms of very average pub chain fodder. It would help if the place was kept clean, but it’s not. I went yesterday with my kids and had to ask for the table to cleaned before we sat down, as it had been set by was covered in a sticky goo. There were crumbs and squashed chips all over the floor. The food was cold and very average. My daughter’s Rudolph burger was over cooked, dry and not very pleasant.

We used to love George & Dragon, it's a very big place with lots of different ambiences. Unfortunately, it's gone downhill. Yesterday we had the worst experience. First the place was eerily empty at 7:30, then the waitress nagged us about 10 times (seriously) saying that the kitchen was closing and we HAD to order. Fine, after we ordered and had our meals, along came a chap visibly drunk trying to kick us out, saying that they were closing and we had to go. Again, he came to remind us to pay around 8 times. We ended up leaving around 10-ish and we couldn't help noticing there were still people there that didn't look like they were leaving. Also, the toilets were grim too with broken doors etc… it desperately needs a refit or it won't last. Shame!

Popped in for last orders. Barman tried to overcharge us and when challenged said he thought we were with a couple at the other end of the bar... absolutely not a "random" mistake. Beware!

Will definitely be going back, staff are excellent. Worth a visit if in the area.

Very disappointed with the 2 course festive menu. Gluten free festive stack burger was truly pathetic, half a sausage, slice of Turkey and bacon with the poorest chips I've ever eaten, all cold. My partners meal was slight,y more appetising but not much. Waitress tried her best a nd apologised. Wont go again.

Meal was awful. All veg were over cooked and not very hot.Roast potatoes were not home made roast potatoes not edible. Didn't get an apology when we complained. They reduced be the bill, I suppose that was something and gave us vouchers. Won't be going back and wouldn't recommend either

Great, hot, fresh breakfast served with a smile. Good selection of cooked and continental breakfast. Buffet style continental, and order as much as you like from the hot menu. Well priced, and kids eat free! Adina was wonderful, making our 2 year old feel welcome...

The pub is reasonably priced and located next to a big park. They also have a dog friendly area. The food was alright for the price and location. We had Sunday roast. I had the vegetarian option, and my boyfriend had the roast gammon. The service was a bit slow, and you could find many tables without being cleared out. Also, the chairs were very dirty and some (one on our table) broken.

Sunday roast was terrible, dry and no taste. No staff members around to complain to, limited drink choice and poor cleanliness. This used to be a good pub, food used to be good for the price but it has gone downhill massively

Very well located pub close to the river in Marlow. Amazing value lunchtime meals during the week (£10.99 for 2 mains, and low cost starters and desserts, too). Very friendly and helpful staff, struggling to serve their customers without being able to serve chips owing to a supply failure not under their control! We were happy to have jacket potatoes instead, but I wonder how many customers went elsewhere!

Been here almost every month and always met with nice staff. Sadly today have to wait for 2 hours for food arrive, the staff who took our order did not play attention at all(he is the tall guy and yes, we remembered his name.) 15min passed he went back with his pen and paper to write down the order as he forget our order but still seem like he took wrong as once repeated, we heard other menu on order. We’re not sure and don’t want to get wrong food on table. So we asked other staff who walked passed (this Asian man used to serve our table before and always have nice customer service) to help to check if that tall guy who took our order is correct. The tall guy went back to our table and said no worry, he did remember and won’t forget as he works here for long time already with loud voice and aggressive. Well, 1 hours passed, no one come to check our table or ask if we’re waiting for food. The same tall guy who took our order came to say sorry and complained that the order did not send to kitchen. What’s a shame as he said he worked there for long time and he know what he did but did not noticed that customers waited for food then 1 hour.

This pub was probably as you would expect, fairly reasonable prices for low quality food. Our server was friendly though.

Sat outside on the pavement with our dog ,could have had more space and maybe access to a dog water bowl ( but managed to get a container full of water from the bar)but understand space is hard to find which is fine.Had two roast dinners ,Turkey and Beef which was super as was the price .Would definitely go back 👌

Good food and good location , situated across the park and very close to town centre . You can walk by the river which is just round the corner.

Ordered pie and chips. Told no chips available so reverted to mash. When the meal arrived it comprised pie served with rice. and not fresh rice at that I would describe my experience as the worst ever. Bad service bad food. Bad everything. Only ever had a drink outside until today as it was raining. It was one of the dirtiest pubs I have been in. The ladies toilets had not been cleaned for at least a few days and the whole place looks in need of a refurb. Let's just say I wouldn't eat there.

Not a bad location on the bridge. Food, not good. Nachos, awful. Chips, anemic, chicken wings, no not good. I think they were chicken wings. Service was good and it wasn't too busy for lunch. Plenty of seats outside and a fair bit of parking. Nice to visit for a drink but they could definitely improve the kitchen.

Had originally starred this as 5 stars, due to previous visits a few years ago. Unfortunately we visited again today and were met with the worst service and rudest staff I've ever experienced in marlow. After this experience, we left to eat elsewhere and I'd recommend choosing other places to eat if you're in the area too, especially if you appreciate good service and don't want to be treated like an idiot or have to wait ages to be acknowledged/served etc.

We stopped there with family , this was our first visit in this particular Restaurant. Honestly speaking valuable drinks prices and Food was very cheap as compared to other Restaurants in Marlow.It was clean , very welcoming. Toilets were clean.We loved the piri piri chicken.

Haddock and chips are always best for this in whole town. We were quickly served. My wife enjoyed the visit.
