George Abbot in Guildford

My husband and I popped in for lunch, it was very quiet and we were warmly welcomed especially by Jake, who is charming and friendly and couldn't be more helpful. We had Nachos' which was one of the nicest I've ever had. We will certainly return.

I absolutely love this pub, all the staff are so welcoming and friendly. They help you with everything you need. They are well informed on the drinks and food they serve. They have a great selection on tap too. Highly recommend the George Abbot!!

Popped in and was amazed at the interior, service was done with a smile and very polite staff. Food did look good, so will be coming back more often. The new manager came over to say hello and was very welcoming.

We went with a friend’s for a lunch. Was 14:30 when our friends (two adults and 2 kids) ordered a food via the mobile application. Few 2 minutes later, we were unable to ordered as the kitchen closed. I went to ask why nobody mentioned that the kitchen will close, when only the half of the table was served? I was told that they can’t do anything, as the Chef is taking break between 14:00 and 16:00. My question to the staff was how I should explain to my kids that they won’t be served, but my friend’s family meals are cooking? Finally we end without meals. My advice is to train your staff how they should do their work instead of chatting with people on the bar!

Popped in for a quick drink and bite to eat with family and was pleasantly suprised at the new changes. Grest service, food was good and staff welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if your in town.

This pub has undergone some great improvements, it has an enjoyable and refreshing atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and have welcoming smiles. It's become my new favourite spot for me and my friends to catch up and have a few drinks and good food at the end of the week. I would definitely recommend!!

Visited recently after hearing from friends that the pub was under new management, it was very lively for the football, the food was great and there was a huge drinks selection, the team behind the bar were very friendly and attentive and we will definitely be returning!

I attended this restaurant on the 19th December 2023 with a couple of family members, and unfortunately came away very disappointed and unwell. Initial service was great although it was frustrating (but not the be all or end all) to find out that the halloumi was not in stock. We ordered 2 turkey dinners and then did 5 starters/sharers for £24.50 as a main. The 2 turkey dinners came out looking plain, boring and something you would expect better of in a school! The lack of food looked lost on such a large plate. The roast potatoes looked and were undercooked as if boiled, one burnt pigs in blanket, undercooked crunchy carrots and sprouts and tiny amount of gravy. When served the food we were not asked if we wished for anything else like sauces (which would've been nice)… and no cranberry sauce with a roast, but was with turkey meatballs?! The 5 sharers weren't great either - eg some overcooked and stale! Both people who had the turkey dinner have come away feeling significantly ill and been suffering from diarrhoea. And the third hasn't felt great either. The desserts were okay but could've been warmer. We were never asked how our food was (at the time it wasn’t so busy) to be able to raise these concerns but by the end of our meal we felt so unwell we left immediately to get home, along with it being much busier. I have been to Greene King restaurants on numerous occasions and usually have very good experiences so was looking forward to this visit however it has turned out to be quite the opposite. This was raised with customer services who did not wish to take any responsibility for this stating that we must have all eaten something dodgy beforehand... all three of us live in separate addresses and had not seen each other for a while prior to going out.

Really interesting menu and amazing choice of drinks! Staff were friendly and the wait time was good. You can park (pay & display) right next door, which is great for Guildford Town! The only downsides were lack of coffee and sticky tables, but it didn't spoil our evening. We will be back!

There were about 25 in our group, ready for dinner and drinks. Sadly the eftpos broke down but prior to this the manager was so rude to us we basically dropped our drinks and went to the Britannia, a very friendly pub just down the road. The staff here were lovely, and smiled a lot. Sadly couldn’t say the same for the rude one. This was our second visit and same treatment the night before but we have them the benefit of the doubt.

A superb pub in Guildford showing sky sports and BT sport … a great selection of lagers and ales … when entering the pub we were greeted by friendly staff who put 100% effort into making our experience enjoyable .. We spent most of the afternoon in the pub also meeting the manager Danielle who is an asset to the pub .. high recommended and will 100% be back

I went for a meal with my partner and I have to say it was amazing great value for money and the staff where amazing there was a lady called Sam who worked there she is the accommodating and helpful person in the world thank you highly recommend this pub for food and drinks

I wish we had got her name, the barmaid was wonderful, kind and friendly, professional, she ordered us a taxi after we asked her where the nearset taxi rank was and she came and told us when it had arrived. She was just marvellous. We had two light bites, an asian inspired chicken thing which was very nice and tasty, and hummus with flatbread which was not good.

This pub was just absolutely joy. The food was great, good portions and lots of choice. At the quieter end of the High St not far from the station, perfect meeting point. Roasts or classic pub fare to satisfy even the hungriest of university students. This was the perfect place for a Sunday Lunch and to watch the football. The staff were absolutely amazing especially Olivia who in my opinion was one of the most friendliest servers. Definitely will go back, ordering on the app was easy..

We decided to book the George Abbot for our girls evening and we were not disappointed! The spritzers were lovely and we definitely recommend! Staff were brilliant - we want to give a special shoutout to Niamh, Charlie and Ellen - who were brilliant and couldn’t do anymore for us! We definitely recommend and will be back.

We booked a table on a Friday evening to have a couple of drinks, ended up staying the whole night! Fantastic staff and great food. The fish and chips was great. We can't wait to come back and try the roasts.

We were struggling to find somewhere for lunch as it was uni move in weekend but this place was practically empty! Ordered on the app but it didn't work despite it saying it had charged my card (luckily it didn't). Ordered again but the food took forever! The couple next to us came in after, had food and left before we even got ours. They didn't give us enough cutlery, didn't offer sauces or extra drinks, and i had to ask for everything. I could understand if they were busy but there was only a few people and they didn't order food! The food was nice once it had arrived but it was so late and the customer service wasn't great. The lads on the bar were lovely but they were not well trained. They couldn't find a gluten free menu, one had to check everything with another member of staff and looked so nervous the whole time! Train your staff! They dont know what they dont know!

Came down to watch the women’s Euros yesterday. Atmosphere was great, food was good and reasonably priced and the staff were really accommodating and friendly. It was nice to meet Danielle, the manager. Will definitely be back!

Came in last weekend for a few drinks and had a brilliant time! The pub is generally really nice, has a great atmosphere and the staff are all very friendly! I was served by the lovely Abby and she was fantastic and makes a great gin!

Visited with my mate to watch the Chelsea game. Polly was absolutely incredible and so helpful for our entire visit. Drinks were well priced and service was great. We will definitely be visiting again soon!

I go regularly to watch the sport, which is always good but I recently went on a date with my girlfriend there for dinner; the service and food were excellent. Overall a nice place to hang out with friends and family.

Went for the pub quiz had a great time the host Lucy kept it entertaining throughout and the prize of a lemon for last place was a funny touch!

Came back with a few friends and service was quick, food was amazing and the Wednesday quiz by barmaid Lucy was great fun! Definitely recommend booking for the quiz as it was very busy.

Conveniently situated pub, near the train station. Attended with a few friends, amazing food, the manager Charlie made us feel extremely comfortable and at home. All the staff were lovely and chatty, will be back!

All staff are welcoming with very good social distancing procedures, excellent new management, quick service, Lucy was very accommodating to dietary needs.

First time back since lockdown on Friday night, Charlie has done an amazing job reopening and improving the pub, entire team all well prepared. Food is the best its ever been, quick service and safety procedures were very well explained by the door host. Highly recommend.
