Visited on 6th May as stopping in hotel on works visit. We were a group of 6 lads had 3 courses and were all pleased with the exceptional service we received from Kate and the rest of the waiting staff. After working in the hospitality industry with 20 years management experience. Was impressed with the attentive detail to the service, check backs. Not waiting too long and making sure everything was fine. The food is top tier compliments to the chef. Can not fault anything from our visit. Will be back again few times this year. Look forward to visiting again.

I can't speak highly enough of the wonderful staff/ ladies in the hotel restaurant, they are lovely, friendly, professional, helpful and a credit to the business , I've read some reviews and as a pub and restaurant manager and area manager then operations manager I can't speak highly enough about them. Being in the hospitality industry I know it's been extremely trying for everyone and I think we should appreciate the staff who work so hard to make our time spent in there company appreciated. Because its definitely not 9 to 5pm , or an easy industry to work in ,with the many challenges it represents, but the restaurant manager Nadine is a credit to the business and also Esta is just fab and Gill, I know the company as a whole treat there staff with the highest regard and rewards, so please go to this restaurant, the friendly welcome you will receive is lovely , from breakfast to lunch to dinner . The food is lovely , so thankyou so much, for the excellent service and standards Sam xx

Dinner was a little pricey but delicious food. I had the calamari starter with salt and cracked black pepper just the right amount and main of Crusted baked salmon and seasonal veg with crushed new potatoes it was scrumptious I had no room for dessert. My sister decided on the same starter and a ribeye steak. Breakfast was varied and generous

We ate breakfast here because the hotel offered it to us as 'buy one and get one free' We did not expect amazing food but we would have liked it if it had been fresh and appetising. Unfortunately it was shrivelled up processed stuff and dried up pastries. The table and high chair were dirty and the coffee was out of a machine. Macdonalds is nicer and cleaner. Travel there instead.

4 of us ate at Genevieve’s following a meeting. Service was slow and at one point rude. We were sat and initially presented with a menu without the main meals selection (missing the pages), exchanged & saw the original being put back into the menus waiting for use. Waited nearly an hour for our food once ordered and when plates removed waited 40 mins for further service before giving up. On paying at the entrance desk the waitress agreed service was very slow but that was it. Food mediocre, nothing special but not worth waiting all that time for.

A group of four friends arrived for a three course evening meal and we were served by the delightful Charlie and Kim. They were both excellent hostesses and Charlie in particular was brilliant (Kim was also lovely but it’s just that Charlie was mostly assigned to our table). We had a lovely fun evening made all the more special by such excellent hostesses. The food was great too 😊

This is a very average restaurant. The service was good but the quality of food was very poor. I ordered the butter chicken served with naan. The naan was old and moldy. The meal tasted like one of those preprepared frozen meals that was popped into the microwave. It’s an ok place to eat if u have no other choice.

I stay here regularly only because my company is down the road and books the rooms which are not bad for the price but the bar and restaurant are a joke, the food was mediocre at best, the service very poor ( the staff knew nothing of the food, what it came with etc) the manger just stood around shifting paper and using the computer. the fact that there was only a handfull of people in the place tells its own story. I am sure that its OK for the coaches of tourists/OAP's etc paying low prices but for full payers its bad. Best to stay here then find a local eatery.

Stayed here over two nights. First night in the restaurant I was sat down and given a menu. No one came back to me so chased up. Ordered a drink and had to chase up twice for the drink and to place a food order. Asked the guys next to me is this the norm - answer yes! They ordered another drink it never turned up. One table of four had placed an order and when they complained was told they forgot to. Place the order with the kitchen #faultytowers

I sit here writing this review while still a guset at the hotel. Its 04:00 in the morning and I am not feeling so good. We ate in the hotel earlier. Table booked for 20:00 - drinks arrived at 20:30. Ordered nachos, bread and olives. Only nachos and bread arrived which was raised twice before the olives finally made it. One of the team was late and his drink took ages and 2 reminders again. The food arrived very greasy. The chicken our driver had was particularly so, the accompanying sauce for the gammon hadn’t been kept warm. The sides ordered were mixed up and my fish was served upside down (minir detail) The staff were obviously embarrassed and gave us a 50% discount. Sadly the experience isn’t one I would recommend, supposedly a 4* hotel. We would have been better eating at McDonalds. The reason for 2* tonight is that the 2 ladies on duty tried hard the gentlemen on shift front of house in the restuarant didn’t seem to understand the principle of customer service.

During our stay at the Mercure Brands Hatch Hotel, we used the restaurant for dinner and breakfast on several days. The breakfast was very large, with significant choice (fried, continental, cereals etc.), and this was half an hour prior to breakfast being served. The dinner was nice, but the menu choice wasn't that varied, and the portion size was too big for even a bigger than average person. It was also quite annoying that they only seemed to have 7 music tracks which played on repeat. I could probably quote most of the songs by heart following our trip. The food however, despite limited choices, was very nice, just too large to finish most of the main course.

Hotel was nice and the rooms were clean and tidy, the only two things which were not up to scratch was the breakfast, the tea and coffee wasn't really appealing it was coffee in a large urn, which was rather strong and stewed, it would have been nicer if they had a push button coffee machine that offered different types of coffee, so was surprised it didn't offer this considering the type of hotel. Also in the breakfast room the food was slow being topped up. In the rooms it would have been nice if there were more towels also. All we had was two towels not really large enough for a bath towel, and there was no hand towels. Other than that the hotel staff were very friendly

Ate here on our first evening in the Brands Hatch hotel. The restaurant is looking tired and the menu fairly boring although what we ate was of good quality ( but french beans overcooked and colcanon mash average). Unfortunately it is overpriced. To be fair the menu for those on half board looked better! Really wished we found a local pub as we did on our second night, much better value.

I have stayed at this hotel quite a few times. It is booked by my client and is located conveniently close to their offices. The rooms at the Thistle Brands Hatch are clean and comfortable. Check in is usually a painless affair. My biggest issue with this hotel is the restaurant and bar. The service is usually good enough, but nothing special. However, on several occasions they have run out of basic drinks (e.g. cordial), asking for a hot drink (such as coffee) seems to be a massive undertaking as they staff struggle to use the coffee machine. The food quality in the restaurant is very low. I ordered chicken, which my children can cook. It was dry and tasteless. My colleague ordered fish. She described it as "edible, but that's about it". It didn't look good.Because of the problems in the bar and restaurant I try to stay in one of the smaller places near-by. Unfortunately, they are popular so sometimes I have no choice but to stay here.Still, it's not all terrible - the beds are comfortable.

We stayed in this hotel last weekend for my hen weekend. The spa was fantastic, nice clean facilities and I had a wonderful massage. The rooms were very 'basic' and in need of updating but the real issues happened at dinner. Our table was booked for 7.30pm but our menus were not presented to us (we were told that we had to wait until other tables had finished with them) until 8.50pm! We were given our white wine without an ice bucket and a bottle of presseco was put on our table unopened! When we asked for the manager and complained simply saying that the service was 'terrible' the response that we got was that it was our fault for taking so long to order (how can you order without menus?!), that there were other large bookings and he was under staffed - both issues we pointed out were not our fault as he knew the number of parties booked. One main course was forgotten about and a dessert (although ordered a plain) was brought to us with custard. When my sister returned her dessert, she said that she didn't want to wait for another and wanted it removed from the bill. The manager later said this was her fault as she should have waited. The whole evening went from bad to worse with the manager being very rude saying we had 'called him names' which when we asked who said what, we were not provided with a response by him. There were two other large (and much louder) parties also dining that evening but the manager decided (after our complaint) that we were the unjustly 'trouble makers'.Eventually the manager gave us £5.50 discount which was for 25% off food OUTSIDE our prepaid package.A simple sorry and polite attitude to our first complaint would have made all the difference!

If you're hoping for a good meal, don't go anywhere near this horrific establishment. We had reserved a table for a birthday meal for 10 people and when we arrived there were only 2 other diners in the restaurant. This should have been a simple task for the many waiting staff and the chef/s, but apparently not. Together, they managed to screw up almost every aspect of the evening and ruin what could have been a perfectly good meal out with the family.Firstly, about 5 of our party ordered the lamb shank from the menu, to which the waitress commented "Good choice, it looked delicious when I saw it earlier". However, several minutes later the head of waiting staff for the evening approached our table and told us that the last lamb shank had just been sold, unfortunately. Later on, the previous waitress implied that there had been no lamb shanks available that evening! So someone was clearly lying to us!I ordered the pork loin which sounded reasonable on the menu. However, when it arrived I thought I had been given a starter by mistake. There was a small mound of cabbage, a "potato fondant", and three tiny morsels of pork. I'm not a big eater, and even for me this was a pitiful amount of food to be classed as a main course. Someone else in my party also had this same issue with the pork, and in the end we had to scrounge scraps of food from other people's plates to satisfy our appetites!Another cock-up of the evening was when two people (who had previously ordered lamb shanks) ordered steaks; one with rare and peppercorn sauce, one with medium-rare and bearnaise sauce. These turned up at the table with the pots of sauce on the plate. One of our diners poured her bearnaise sauce over her steak, only to be told by yet another waitress "oh, the chef got the steaks mixed up, so that is the rare steak that you have there", to which my fellow diner correctly replied "well it's too late now, I've poured my bearnaise sauce on it". So the two steak diners now had meals that they had not actually ordered. Brilliant. Obviously we kicked up a fuss about this and after a lot of back and forth, they agreed to take the price of one steak off the menu and 25% off the rest of the meals. The steak farce was not complete however. Both steaks were horrible quality; gristly and fatty and impossible to cut through. We eventually asked for another to be cooked (as one of our party was eating medium-rare when he actually wanted rare), and the second steak was very good. So why couldn't they get it right the first time?Overall, a very poor experience, and until now I haven't even mentioned the obscene waiting times for the mains and the constant looping of Sam Smith's album on the speaker system. I quite like Sam Smith but now I can't bear to listen to him ever again!

We recently attended a dinner dance at The Thistle, Brands Hatch. Having never been to this hotel before we were unsure what to expect. The dinner that appeared was atrocious - absolutely unappealing, even on the plate it looked revolting and the taste was worse. First appeared a leek and potatoe soup which looked like washing up water - the only discernible taste was pepper. Next there was a choice either chicken or a vegetarian option which I asked for but was told that there wasn't enough so the chicken was plonked in front of me. If I thought the soup was bad this dish was ten times worse in fact I almost asked for the soup back, soggy lukewarm vegetables that looked as if they had been cooked hours ago and reheated. The chicken was so tough - how can chicken be tough you may ask but it most certainly was! If you had blindfolded me I would not have been able to tell you what I was eating. Next came a citrus tart which would have been the highlight but it had a decoration of soggy red and black currents. To make matters worse there was no interlude between courses onc e one was cleared another appeared immediately. Afte dinner we were entertained by a very good group called Spice - wel worth booking for an event. Mind you when getting up to dance you had to be aware of people clearing away - once a glass was put down if you weren't careful it was whipped away whether full or not!Never again!

This has been the worst xmas lunch that we have ever had and completly spolt our xmas as a family. The chef should have been sacked, well thats if he was? the food was not even hot,old folks home meals are better, and to top that our grandson had his xmas toy stolen from the hotel that he had with him that day!! what type of hotel is this, not the one advertised thats for sure. this was to be a fantastic day for all of us,but instead the worst. i will be in contact with the hotel to ask for my money back, and conpansation for all the upset!! what type of manager does the thistle group take on? needs to be trained to sort out upset guests, not do nothing Next xmas we are having xmas lunch at home, 1st class as always. 8 of us went to the King's Arms for afternoon tea to celebrate a friend's 40th. We were in the Library, which was a perfect size and allowed us to put up some decorations. The afternoon tea itself was really good value for money at £17.95 per head - a good variety of sandwiches inc vegetarian, great cakes and the most amazing scones with plenty of cream and jam. I must particularly mention Kelly, who was a brilliant help from the moment that we booked and looked after us so well on the day. Faultless. I would highly recommend.
