Bit disappointed at the Christmas range this year

Always friendly service, good filter coffee, and lovely cooked while you wait food. Cakes are amazing and a good gf selection.

I took my mum & dad for afternoon tea at the cafe and it was amazing value for money, everything was lovely and they had takeaway boxes for anything we couldn't finish! (The scones were massive so enjoyed later). I would highly recommend!

Excellent cafe in a enormous garden centre.

Have been here on 3 occasions love the garden centre but a female staff member has been rude and unhelpful on the main till area. We were in the queue and witnessed a her being rude to 3 elderly ladies then she was rude to us. It’s the same staff member who has been the same before . We will not be returning. Will go to tong garden in bradford when we visit relatives

We Haven't been here for some time. Stopped for cake one afternoon and it was very busy. So we returned for lunch the next day. A1 good food plenty of choice nice service from the ladies thank you!

Lots to see, clean and tidy and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Been using the cafe for many years with no issues. On our last visit we were kept waiting ovet 20 minutes for 2 small breakfasts despite the cafe being nearly empty only after i had gone to see what was happening was our breakfast brought out a few minutes later. No apologies given for the wait. This time my sons breakfast brought out and i was told yours will be out in a minute. 5 minutes later my breakfast of 'poached eggs' on toast brought out, again no apology that my food brought out so long after my sons. The eggs were solid and cold, and needless to say not eaten. i certainly wont be wasting my money here again, as in my experiances both the service and food seems to have deteriorated drastically.

Love this garden centre! Cafe is great! Lovely cakes, scones and proper food! All tasted great and staff were so lovely and helpful. Garden centre is smaller than some but had a good variety of outdoor plant and indoor plant. I just wish they had some more of the rarer indoor plants available, but thats just a wish for most garden centres. Lovely place and will be back again

Approached by a member of staff to tell me my dog wasn’t allowed in the garden centre. This was after we had walked in , looked round and a gaggle of staff around till area saw us and never said anything. We then went into coffee shop , had breakfast and our dog was fussed and patted by the lovely lady who served us but no mention that she wasn’t allowed. All staff should sing from same hymn sheet as it were. The guy who approached us had quite an attitude of self importance. I did not see any signs to say no dogs allowed: This is poor for a holiday area where dogs are allowed in nearly all shops and cafes. If you have a dog go to Irton garden centre where your dog will be made welcome , given treats and be allowed everywhere including a dog friendly cafe.

Very nice garden centre, reasonably accessible,lots of menu choices gf and vegetarian/ vegan choices nice staff , beautiful setting. Was some work on while we were there but well cornered off. Overall pleasant experience.

Good coffee and wonderful scones, including cherry scones. Lovely selection of other baked treats too.

Staff are always so pleased to help, chirpy and knowledgeable ! Colin has been particularly helpful with his advice on plants for my new garden and how to look after them. He has also assisted in carrying stuff as I have a bad back and took plants and other items purchased right to and into my car boot for me! The garden centre has a great selection of plants and trees! Thanks to you all. Dean's is now a regular stop-off point for me and I thoroughly recommend it! Maggie, a very satisfied customer!

I have to post this as a big thumbs up for the cafe, sorry I don’t have a picture of it; but I was there today. Now if you have a family and you are out and about and need a lunch option, avoid trashy high street fast food and head here if you’re in Scarborough. The food is decent home cooking / cafe style. The portions were generous, the food came within 10 minutes and to top it off it cost less than that popular burger chain that advertises everywhere. So do yourself and your kids a favour, don’t have a burger, come eat something decent here instead. Well done Deans Cafe!

Well today was the first time in 30 years of having dogs that I’ve visited a garden centre that isn’t dog friendly! Totally missed the not so easy to read sign on the entrance door saying no dogs and I was looking for a sales assistant to help me with purchasing garden furniture when I see a sales assistant telling my wife to leave as no dogs allowed, we have visited last year with the dogs and nobody said no dogs allowed. We left and went to Irton Garden centre, we were quickly welcomed by a member of staff who is a dog lover and gave the dogs some treats, 30 minutes later I had spent £1800 on garden furniture! If you have a dog I would fully recommend you visit Irton Garden Centre.

OK place on outskirts of Scarborough with plenty of parking. Good range of gardening stuff and plants. Restaurant OK. Was there late on a Tuesday so perhaps not at it's best. Rather dry cake from small selection and OK Americano. Staff friendly.

Looks empty. New ownership and empty shelves. Nothing to choose for bonsai. No pots no soil no fertilizer. Just few not good looking bonsai plants. Same outside no plants.

Very impressed with the excellent choices of meals for vegans. The main courses are delicious. However, disappointed with the distinct lack of vegan cakes and scones. An offering of a pre packed crumble bar at a very inflated price didn’t match the impressive array of of vegan savoury foods. Cakes can scones can EASILY be made with vegan alternatives with no compromise on texture or taste. Otherwise a recommended place to eat and enjoy good food.

The café is clean and well laid out. The food good, well presented and they give good portions. The staff are very pleasant and friendly. It’s a good place to eat out. Only one small complaint and that is the overpowering air “fresheners” in the toilets.

2nd visit here and my what a difference, I take back what I said last time, absolutely fantastic difference, from plants, garden furniture and the restaurant is still amazing value ....... Made ourselves a member of there loyalty scheme

Saw on Facebook, so in the area we visited and were not dissapo8nted, great Christmas stalls, we picked up some different items for the tree, would recommend and we will be back

It takes a lot to impress me food wise, but I was today when I was served an absolutely delicious slice of cheese, onion and tomato quiche. A large slice with salad and coleslaw. The quiche had been made using a generous amount of cheese which was actually visible (unusual when eating out usually). I hate to have to admit it but it was even better than the ones I make. The cakes and desserts on display were very well made as well. Someone certainly know how to cook!!!!!

It's a good centre with a good cafe that (in my opinion) do the best cherry scones in town. Cafe staff always have a smile for you but the rest don't seem that happy. A good choice of plants and ornaments. 03.02.2023. Still has the best cherry scones in town.

The Garden Centre is lovely, especially now as it's full of Christmas goodies. The staff are also lovely so my next comments are in no way a reflection on them. The cafe prices are jaw-droppingly expensive! A large cappuccino costs £3.75, easily as expensive as a city centre cafe and probably more, but at least in an up market coffee shop, it would be made barista-style, This was a push button machine. I did a double take when I looked at food prices. I will stand corrected, but where else would you pay £4.99 for a cheese scone? In times of a cost of living crisis, this really is too much. Other items were ridiculously expensive too and my friend and I were left very disappointed, We thought we'd go somewhere nice in the inclement weather but this cafe did nothing to lift our spirits.

Lovely traditional garden center good disabled access throughout good choice of plants and the usual things , cafe very good but the coffee could do with more coffee couldn't tell the latte from the cappuccino but the food good and the scones great could do with flowers as you go in the door for a warmer welcome ps regarding previous persons rant about the disabled WC I found it very clean and comfortable but obviously didn't stay in there as long as they must of 🤣🤣

A great place to eat. Went to till and ordered food and drink. Although it was busy the food came quickly and the staff were friendly and efficient. Really tasty cheese salad and cheese and tuna mayonnaise toastie. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

My Grandaughter and I love a visit to Dean's cafe but yesterday I was very disappointed when she was charged £1 to change the fried egg on a breakfast to scrambled. The price of the breakfast was high enough without that extra charge. She was also charged £1.20 for 1 extra hash brown which is exorbitant. We won't be doing breakfast again!

Visired Dean's Garden centre near York many times which is very good with a large collection of indoor plants which I'm interested in.
