We decided to have a bite of lunch here while looking for plants. Really disappointing and won't eat here again. The young girl at the counter was polite but didn't seem interested in the customers or her job. My husband went back to the counter to ask for butter and because she didn't bother to look at him instead of putting them in his hand they dropped on the counter. They had run out of napkins so customers had to take sheets off a roll of kitchen towel. Tables were slowly being cleared by another young girl but not one table was wiped clean. They weren't overly busy so there was no excuse other than poor hygiene. This could be a goldmine but there was just apathy from the staff.

Oh dear. I haven't been here for a while but was so amazed at how the service has dropped off. Only one young girl serving, she looked very unhappy. I had a 25min wait for scrambled egg on toast..was given an apology and told they only had one chef. Tables were untidy with dirty plates, cups etc .The whole cafe is so different now and quite frankly the whole garden centre is so different to what it used to be...lots of empty spaces and lack of stock. Sad

A few changes needed here….the sauces and vinegar were in a box with dried crumbs in. Long wait to order as initially only one person was taking orders, and people had taken menus to their table, so we in the queue shared one…..we arrived early, 12 noon, so went to the queue to order food. They wanted to know what number table we were sitting at, so a quick run to the table to put a coat on a chair and find the number, which was on the dirty boxes. A 2 slice sandwich ( egg mayonnaise) was pleasant enough, cost £8.29 and a can of coke £2.25. Standard packet of crisps £1.35. The cheesy chips at £3.49 were disappointing - microwaved cheese on overcooked chips, some of which defied the fork. The coffee at £3.15 was at best lukewarm and most would have said cold. A replacement arrived without a saucer…., Not impressed for the prices charged. For these prices you should get quality, and organised service. You just get the impression that the place is profit centred not customer oriented.

Visited here this morning. We ordered breakfast one traditional and one gluten free paid for both. Then told no gluten free bread. Was offered a vegan stack. Not good. Vegan is an option. Gluten free is a necessity. Asked for a refund but the supervisor has no clue what he is doing. He has taken 15 min to try and do a refund. Sorry bad experience

Visited for the build a summer planter workshop with afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was fantastic, plenty of food both savory and sweet and the planting course with Sandie a real treat. Sandie has an exceptional knowledge of plants and is very helpful when describing the better plants to put together. It is well worth doing this event if you want a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon, Matt and his team will make you feel most welcome and you will take home a lovely planter for your garden.

Some areas looked filthy. Tables not cleared, a lot of cakes run out. Offer on cream scone, no cream. Asked for just scone with butter and jam, they did have plain scones but can’t do the offer because no cream. Looked really run down . Met family for coffee and scone but I won’t be returning.

We popped into the garden centre cafe at 1.50pm on the 15th September 2023. So not late in the afternoon. You would think they would still have most normal things in stock. But not scones at all! Okay let’s go for a cake and a drink then. Coffee was good, but OMG the size of the cake for £3.95! Ridiculous! Nearly as thin as a wafer! Now some cafes buy in catering cakes, as is the case here. How sad that they cut the cakes into so many slices to make extra money. A waste of any body’s money! The state of the whole place was poor. Yes they do have a children’s area, and you can also sit with your dogs. All of the seating areas the tables had not been cleaned. The chairs… Filthy! Black round stains on them! All of them. And the door to the kitchen was filthy black. We should of asked for our money back. Our mistake, we would not go back. The whole place needs a refurb. In fact the chairs need taking out & burning! Sorry to say that, but it was disgusting! Here are pictures…

This is a local garden centre to us and we use the restaurant from time to time. It has to be the slowest and most disorganised place I’ve ever been to. One person manning the checkout and coffee machine. Frequently queue for over 20 minutes when the place is half empty. Tables not cleaned away frequently. Not an enjoyable experience.

Long queue, long wait for food, nasty lukewarm chips. The woman doing at least two people's jobs behind the counter deserves double pay and a medal - heroic individual. Get some staff Dobbies - you just might have to pay more than minimum wage though. One more thing - £3.75 for a thin slice of Victoria sponge is daylight robbery.

We have visited this cafe several times since it opened, including during the current pandemic. We can guarantee a problem 95% of the time we visit. Just today we tried to visit for coffees, to be told there is a 20 minute wait - even though the cafe was barely half full and most tables had already been served. Not a huge problem you would think, so we decided to wait. We were told we could then take a seat after approx 5 minutes - only then to be ignored by staff for over 10 minutes (even though people behind us in the queue were being served first). We eventually gave up and left. Time after time Dobbies seem to get it wrong here - it certainly is chaos, whether they are busy or not. We are even membersof their loyalty scheme - which seems pointless if you can't actually make use of the benefits of being a member.

Never visit here if you would like to eat and drink what you ordered within a reasonable time. We waited over an hour, they hadn't even served our drinks, then they got the order wrong and didn't have enough chips or red wine to correct it??? They blamed technical issues and untrained staff. serious Management issues I'd say. My husband even had to ask for a reduction in the bill! Oh and the table next to us, waited 2 hours for their food. Also Covid19 related, 3 different staff visited our table and each handled either crockery, cutlery or condiments, before we ate, didn't exactly feel comfortable about that.

Hadn't eaten here since it changed from Wyvales, as that cafés food & service had declined. Needed some bits for the garden so decided to grab a quick sandwich here & have to report that the food has improved. I opted for a nice, soft & fresh coronation chicken baguette which was 100% better than the last time I ate here a year ago. Some nice cake choices too. Service was a little lacklustre from the younger staff but that seems to be the norm these days, there was a "grown up" who seemed to be in charge of things tho who was a bit more with it. Good coffee.Garden Centre much improved with eco-friendly products & recycled/recyclable pots for their plants. 3/5 for the Café / 5/5 for the store.

This restaurant used to be nice but it has gone down hill since. Came in here with my family for lunch during a weekday. What I ordered was supposed to be a panini filled with chicken, bacon and cheddar, but instead it was served in a stale bagette and the presentation was abysmal! I was charged for the panini even though I was served a bagette! Almost all of my family's orders were wrong, and there was hardly any ingredients available for the lunch service. A very disorganised service. Not pleased.

Tend to nip out for a quick chocolate & cheese scone on a Wednesday as have a busy morning but going here - yet again (never go by first time), was a mistake. Long queues, one staff member who had to call for help, slow staff coming to help & then vanished. Cheese scones (marked up as such were dry & turned out to be ordinary scones with fruit peel). Not good. No butter available & request for such seemed like that would be hard work - which the butter was when it arrived. Nice chap serving but he would keep calling me "luvvy". Tables not being cleared at all while we were there. Not a great experience especially for their high prices. Cake prices out of this world.

Our sandwiches were really poor, the bread was dry and no butter, my cheddar ploughman's had enough pickle in it to do about 5 sandwiches and didn't even hold together as a sandwich due to the volume of salad leaves in it. My partner's ham and cheese sandwich was missing is piccalilli mayonnaise and the Victoria sponge cake was dry. Only good point is the salad the sandwiches came with appeared to be fresh. We'll come back to use the soft play area but will just stick to buying a drink in future.

I have been here a couple of times since the new year. Once for lunch and once for breakfast. The menu had changed since my last visit and instead of the fish finger sandwich I was looking forward to, I had to hunt around for a menu and find another dairy free option. Not much choice and ended up with tomato soup which was fine but not my favourite meal.I’m now here for breakfast and it’s chaotic. No trays, no menu until you get to the counter and again, limited choice. Cheese in the vegetarian sausages, so I can’t eat them. I have ended up having toast with marmalade, no butter.Actually, I’ve been waiting for 10 minutes now for the toast!Dirty knives in the cutlery section too. All of them are grubby, some still have the previous diner’s food on them. Yuk!Coffee is nice though. Strong but smooth tasting. No idea where my toast is!

This time of year with a lot of eateries vying for custom you would be had pushed to beat this for value for money. Presentation was good and the food better than some more expensive venues, add to this the service of an extremely pleasant member of staff. The bacon that came with the meal was either heated up from the previous day or had been keeping warm for a few hours; tough with an attractive black edging. The bubble and squeak consisted of a flat disc of mainly potato dotted with flecks of green and orange, a forensic scientist would have been hard pushed to identify the green flecks as savoy cabbage. I only realised the bubble and squeak contained red onion on reading the menu again on the way out - a glutton for punishment. The fried egg was okay, so that at least is a positive note to end on.

I’m not a particular fan of garden centre cafes as they often have the ambience of a grubby school canteen but to be honest I couldn’t fault this one. Ok, it was a weekday and not busy but even so, service was prompt and friendly. Ordered hot drinks, snacks and Jacket potato. Potato came fully loaded (see my pic) and so very good value in my opinion. Sat next to the fish tank to keep our young grand daughter amused but she soon got bored with that :-( There’s a tots ball play area attached to the cafe - think it costs £1.75 for unlimited play? Made a couple of purchases from the shop and receipt came with an afternoon tea discount voucher for two - bingo!

It’s a real shame as this place has so much to offer but sadly didn’t deliver at all for me.It was very quiet for a Sunday which should have told its own story. The service received was very abrupt and to the point. I ordered a ham hock and cheese sandwich and a salmon and egg mayonnaise sandwich both just under £6 each. Frankly I would have been embarrassed to serve anyone portion sizes like this. You expect sandwiches to have filling but both these were sadly lacking. I find it disgusting that you are charged good money and expect some value for this but when you are served 4 quartered sandwiches and only the front corner has filling and 3/4 of it is empty I think it is very poor value for money. Would never go here again.

Asked what we get exactly, no answer at first, then asked again and got told no fruit scones or plain but you have a piece of cake. Do I not get cake anyway? Yes they replied...... Or you can have cheese scone or lemon and almond. Cheese scone and clotted cream and jam.....yuk! No thanks. So we ended up with lemon and almond. On tasting scones they only had the taste of almond where the flakes were on the top of scone. We left because she was touching her face and hair, handling credit cards and money and touching food (preparing sandwiches) without washing her hands. A few minutes convinced us that we did not want her to handle our coffee cups, so we left.

The Ferryboat Inn is beautifully-situated beside the sea at the westernmost extremity of Hayling Island, where a narrow tidal channel separates it from nearby Portsea Island, upon which the "Great Waterfront City of Portsmouth" stands. Most people who visit the Ferryboat Inn will come by motor car as there is a large, paid car park adjacent to the pub. It's also possible to get there by cycling, or walking, along the disused Hayling Billy line from Havant. There is a frequent road 'bus service from Havant to Hayling seafront but the nearest stop is a fifteen-minute walk from the pub. Alternatively, the No. 25 'bus service from the Hard Interchange in Portsmouth sets down at Eastney Lifeboat Station, from where it's possible to catch the hourly ferry sailing (Adult Single ticket GBP 3:50) to Hayling Island. The Ferryboat Inn, part of the Stonegate pub chain, gets very busy during Summer weekends as it's convenient for those who wish to walk or swim at Hayling beach, It's also very popular with watersports enthusiasts, and those who patronise the nearby Golf Course. The wait for food, if you wanted to eat at a table inside, was about an hour when I arrived on Saturday lunchtime so I bought a large, fried Cod and Chips from the pub's takeaway chippy and ate it at an outside table overlooking the entrance to Langstone Harbour. If it's a windy day and you wish to eat inside, a plate of hearty Sausage and Mash will set you back GBP 14:50 whilst a Lamb Shank costs GBP 17:50. There is a good range of food and drink on offer with a 175ml glass of red or white house wine coming in at well under a fiver. Food is served from 12:00-21:00 on Saturdays and from 12:00-19:00 on Sundays.

This is my local Wetherspoons whichwas visited by my wife and I yesterday at 4.30pm. It was noisier than usual which was due to the England New Zealand rugby match. We also used the App in here and the service was super fast which was good given the queue at the bar. Overall a great Wetherspoons experience and good value for money.
