I did a take away chicken korma which was too bad, it was too sweet and I can only see coconut in the korma. Worst experience.

An absolutely superb gem of a restaurant in the lovely seaside town of Herne Bay. Service was amazing and the food was a joy. Slightly spicier than expected (I had a lamb jalfrezi which was stunning) but more flavoursome than lots of the curries I've had before who invest more in heart than taste. Highly recommended *****

Food was warm, at best, had to heat in the microwave. Keema naan had virtually no meat and was small, but the bread itself was soft and nice enough. Chicken Tikka was tasty, but Sag Aloo was weird. Overall, wouldn't rate it higher than a 3 *** and won't be returning.

Used this restaurant many times. Last time didn’t like seeing the onion and sauces from the starter all being mixed from different tables. Then a waiter with long hair look his hair band off and put it on the hot plate stand. . Then to run his hands through his hair. Only then to put a tea towel on the hair band, and then use the tea tow on plates 🥴

I have used this place for years (both eat in and takeaway) and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. This is definitely the best Indian food place in Herne Bay.

No Taste Waste Of Time And Money i never Eat Sweet Chicken tikka masala and then tried mix vegetables which was also sweet then again tried Chana masala which was also sweet

I've been several times since my slightly negative report of 5yrs ago. Overall it is brilliant & the staff are very attentive. Excellent food.

We were a group of four Indian students from University of Kent and enjoyed the food and overall experience. However, we encountered an issue with the bill. Initially, we were overcharged, but when we pointed it out, they acknowledged their mistake and made some adjustments. Despite this, the final amount was still higher than expected. Specifically, they charged us £3.50 for a Coke that was listed as £1.80 on the menu, claiming they served us a pint without asking our preference. We paid and left but later realized we had overpaid by £8.50. Upon returning, they informed us this amount was for service fees, which they hadn’t mentioned before. We believe we were scammed, as we should have been informed about the service fees and had the option to remove it. Although the food was good, I recommend checking your bills carefully before paying.

This was the biggest mistake ever, the food was bland and disgusting, I ordered a chicken korma and chicken tikka masala and aloo Gobi, I think they mistook my order for two portions of boiled tea cloth and a portion of warm water… the Gandhi used to be so nice but I can’t believe how rubbish the food is now, seriously wasted £30… I think an Aldi microwave version would have been a quarter of the price and 100% better, I will never eat from this place again, so disappointed

Ala and his team are absolutely fantastic. The food is always 1st class and they are all so friendly.

Had an Indian delivered and the chicken was still raw!!! Been going here for years and sooo disappointed and the garlic bread wasn’t even cooked properly either.

We had a takeaway, ordered and delivered, chicken biryani tasteless, no fragrant spices, dahl liquid no spices, veg curry liquid no spices. Worse than a ready meal. Have ordered from here for years but this meal was appaling

Worst ever customer service if you walk in and fancy a good meal . Either the guy at the reception does not like woman dining in or is naturally extremely rule with no mannerism and worst communication skills . Extremely disappointed and shocked to see such poor and pathetic professional behaviour in hospitality business .Will tell my colleagues to completely avoid this place for Indian cuisine .

I visited Herne Bay this week to see my brother, who has recently moved to the town. On the train there a stranger recommended Gandhi, and when my brother said he'd booked a table for Friday night, I said, "Is it at the Gandhi?" Of course it was. My brother and I had a fantastic, flawless meal. The fish curry was very special indeed. We had starters, a range of mains, and accompanying dishes and a pint each. £27 per head. Very reasonable. Lovely waiters, impeccable service. Truly, one of the best meals I've ever had. I can't wait to travel to see my brother again. We'll definitely go again.

Takeaway last night was very disappointing. The order and pay process was Fawlty Towers ish. The two meals were pure liquid, ie no sauce thickening at all(maybe the dish, but never happened before). And today, found out our guest was up all night being unwell. This has been favoured place to use in past but now not so sure

Wow what a dump. First of all the decor is beyond tired. Might almost be considered ‘kitsch’ if it weren’t so old and drab. Service really bad too. I was given what I thought was a complimentary starter, some ghastly concoction in a disgusting sauce, only to be told when I was billed that I had to pay for it. Surely a ‘restaurant’ should give you the choice of whether to pay for something, or not, especially if it’s so disgusting. For the record I didn’t touch whatever it was, but still had to pay for it. The food I did order was terrible. Would have been better off getting a microwave curry from the local supermarket. Menu was also limited and the staff were rude. Unfortunately Herne Bay is a black hole for Indian Restaurants, but this is easily the town’s worst.

In recent years the food has drastically changed, it is all the same colour. It isn't particularly nice. I have dined in before, the atmosphere is ok and the service is pretty good but the food lacks ambition.

Food was gorgeous and the staff were lovely. Highly recommend a visit.

Intimate little Indian restaurant. Was recommended by my hotel staff and they were spot on. Food was great, they have a chef with over 20years experience. Well worth the visit.

Rang up at 955 in the evening and told couldn't order, might want to change hours advertised . Very poor service

We walked in without a booking one evening last week. We found the service good - the manager was friendly, helpful and cheerful as well as being informative. There was a complimentary starter, a selection of add-ons to load on your poppadoms and a wide choice on the menu. We were very happy with the meals we selected. Prices seemed very reasonable too. Next time we are in Herne Bay we will be coming back here.

Fantastic place. Family run. So reasonably priced including wine. Excellent service. Always busy which speaks volumes. Plus at the end of the meal you are offered a free liqueur. Wonderful. One of our favourite restaurants.

To be honest we found it pretty bland. Not the worst Indian meal ever but we have had so many better ones, I guess because we live in London & so much better choice. We have a takeaway delivered to our holiday apartment. On the plus side the food very hot & plentiful. On the downside the chicken curry was very average bland & lacking in flavour. The lamb balti jalfreizi was better but I have had so many more superior to this. The onion bhajis & bread were okay, not great, but the bombay potatoes were nice, probably best dish. Very disappointing because the restaurant looks very nice & it came recommended.

Haven't been able to get to Ghandi for sometime now, for personal reasons, but a little disappointed with meals. Very small amount of chicken in 1 meal, and another was very salty. Perhaps chefs have changed, as previously Ghandi curries, were very consistent, which is why we always ate there.

I was a bit skeptical when approaching the restaurant as I thought it look d dated but as soon as I entered I could tell it was going to be good. I have an issue earring out due to OCD which relates to cleanliness, eating out is extremely hard for me, but this place was impeccably clean. The food was to die for and the service had that homely yet professional feel. This is a family run bussiness and you can tell with the service, I couldn’t fault it. The price is beyond reasonable - £1.60 for a lemonade, you don’t get drinks as cheap as that in a restaurant these days. The whole meal was only £20 and I had so much food I even took some home with me. I cannot recommend this place enough - make sure you book because the place was packed from the second they opened. Every table full and the takeaway was constant - a sign of a decent restaurant! I will be back with my family, thank you!

If I could give negative stars, I would have given them neg 10. first of all when we reached there a waiter invited us in whereas the other waiter at the back started yelling at him right in front of us for letting us in. them this rude waiter approached us and started to force us to just eat whatever they will give us. I mean c'mon we will be paying for your food, so we need not be told what to eat. I was visiting this place with my family, where my toddler got a bit uncomfortable in this small space restaurant and started crying, looking at him, this rude waiter told us that they will not allow us to sit there as they want crying children in their restaurant, which was the rudest thing I've heard in my whole life. This experience spoiled our evening when were there for holidays. Never recommend for any families with kids.

Shish Kebab, and Chicken tikka was very good.

Polite and helpful staff. The food was fine but quite bland. The salmon tikka lacked spice, though the fish was well cooked. The tarka Dahl lacked depth of flavour, not enough garlic or chilli for us. A good price.

Friday night so always busy but our order for 7 people was ready to collect within 30 minutes. Always prompt answering the phone and very polite staff. We all loved our dishes and very good value for money!

A lovely friendly traditional neighbourhood Bangladeshi restaurant in the town centre, serving very affordable tasty regional food We had a Jalfrezi and Shashlic on a sizzler plate, some vege sides, and a beautifully crispy but fluffy peshwari naan bread House wine at £14.00 too ! A generous "on the house" gesture of serving a little taster of fried aubergine when ordering mains and a choice of drink when paying the bill. Nice Indian background music Only suggestion would be to change the Fosters on draught to a more authentic Indian beer. Would thoroughly recommend this curry house.

2 hour wait for food, unprofessional.

I booked a table for my husband, and I for his special birthday. It was a Saturday evening on 11th February. I had been there twice before with a group of work colleagues ,and had a lovely experience. Unfortunately this was not the same. The service was below the standard that I was expecting. The food was lovely, although my husband asked for chips, to be told they don't cook these on a saturday. Once our dishes were cleared away, they presented the final bill on our table, before we were offered any other drinks, or asked did we want a sweet or coffee. The waiters in particular the younger ones, were miserable and the atmosphere appeared tense, and unwelcome. We felt that this was a place not for couples, mainly for larger groups who seemed to get more attention such as complimentary drinks, and a much better service. We were very dissapointed 😞 and will not return or recommend, this indian restaurant to anybody as the whole experience spoilt our evening.

Booked a table three days in advance for Saturday night. Arrived on time for the booking only to be told that he had double booked and the people were arriving shorttly and they were more important. Have been going there for 40 years, but never again.

Cold, bland food and late delivery. When did scrimps become prawns?

I have just eaten a great meal. I had one of the house delicacies morisha chicken with rice and it was delicious. I will be eating it again in the future.

This restaurant was once a firm family favourite BUT after recent experience we will not be visiting this restaurant again. We made a booking for 1st January, on arrival we were rudely accosted by ‘What do you want?’ and then told that they had no booking for us. I disputed this and said I made a booking by telephone the previous day. We were then told to ‘sit there’; for some reason the waiter had some issues and was very angry. We considered leaving there are then but decided to stick it out. The food was OBVIOUSLY heated up by the speed it arrived and I had to ask for a stuffed paratha as we were given a plain one. This was sent back to us with some peas shoved in it!!! Another party arrived and they were also told, aggressively, that they did not have a booking!! In between this and a passing waiter accidentally hitting a man on the head with a bottle of Cobra, it really was an altogether farcical spectacle. A display of incredible contempt and disrespect for diners- straight out of Fawlty Towers. We came for a family meal and left within 45 minutes of arrival… the food was really substandard and not fresh (as I mentioned earlier, this is not what we have received in the past). With this aside, we were stunned by the lack of manners and rudeness of one particular waiter, it was blatantly obvious he detested everyone who came in. If you really hate your job this much then do something else. We will no longer recommend or be patrons of this restaurant. As people should expect some sort of service and politeness when they go to a restaurant.

We tried to order take away & pay with a card over the phone. I was told " cash only" order cancelled. Very disappointed Why do they not take card payments over the phone ? Sadly, they've lost a customer now 😔

Had an early family dinner on a weekday. Booked over the phone - very responsive. Meals were excellent. Kitchen brought out a free starter of deep fried aubergine. A couple of 660ml bottles of Cobra made it a perfect curry night.

Fabulous food, fabulous price, well worth a visit if you are on a budget because you won't believe how cheap it is!! Make sure you book as it gets very busy.

This place is a old school indian...Hidden gem the owner is a class act food was good and I have had many of curry's definitely recommended.

Manager had the hump as we didn't book & pulled the tables apart to put us on a small table . Then starred at me the whole time we was in there made me feel very uncomfortable. It was extremely hot in there & food wasn't great.

This is our usual take away but we fancied eating in the actual restaurant last night. Ourselves and our teenage daughter thoroughly enjoyed all of the dishes. The service was attentive and prices very reasonable. We would definitely recommend it if your in the area...
