Gallimore's Montpellier in Cheltenham

First time we've had a Sunday lunch here. Brought friends to Cheltenham and we all thought it was really tasty. Roast Beef & roast Chicken chosen. Delicious. Beef nicely rare & chicken not dry. Nothing too much trouble, extra gravy,veg etc. Definitely coming back.

My partner booked this restaurant for my birthday on a Tuesday night. We thought we might be the only ones there but how wrong we were. The place has an amazing buzz about it with regulars returning and Sarah( front of house) gave us a warm welcome as soon as we arrived. The service and food were excellent. We both ordered the smoked duck to start which was delicious and then I had the king prawns with skin on fries. Just wonderful!! Followed by a yummy peach Melba and a complimentary espresso martini. The food and service couldn’t have been better and I think it might now be our favourite restaurant in Cheltenham! To top it all it was raining when we left and the lovely Sarah came out and loaned me a brolly. What service!!We’ll be back.

Our first visit with a group of regulars and we were totally delighted with the venue especially as it was a sunny bank holiday. We had the oysters; mussels and the best skate wings we have had in years wow wow wow. Well done chef. We all watched the mango or something sundae pudding with drooling mouths. The service was exemplary as one would expect Fabulous luncheon. Thank you and the wines matched the food perfectly.

Fabulous !! We sat outside as it was a warm evening the atmosphere reminded us of being in the south of France , chic relaxed and food was amazing ! We both had steaks with pepper sauce and they were cooked perfectly along with the accompaniments . Staff were friendly and beer and wine excellent

Our second visit to Gallimore's Kitchen and again we weren't disappointed! Fantastic front of house service from Sarah and a menu which caters for just about every taste. The food was exceptional and having eaten in most of the high end restaurants in Cheltenham; Gallimore's is up there as of the best in my view! Keep up the great work and we looking forward to returning sometime soon.

Very attentive and friendly service, gorgeous food (squid / sardine starters and monkfish tail tempura as a main dish) and great value. We just came across this restaurant and were delighted with every aspect.

We had a wonderful evening At Gallimores. The team are attentive, kind and flexible. The food is always fabulous. Thank you for making Paul’s evening so special and letting old friends giggle like teenagers again.

We came here for an evening with friends that we haven’t seen in a long time. All of us had travelled a long way for this dinner and we were so excited to catch up! This obviously meant that we got carried away chatting to each other as soon as we sat down and after continued attempts of the older lady trying to get us to order, we did! Even though we felt rushed. We started by ordering some nibbles to start us off but she was extremely pushy and wanted us to order our mains. We felt bad as we knew that we had been caught up chatting and so we decided to ask her to give us 5 more minutes so we could choose our main course. She wasn’t friendly whatsoever, told us that there were no more mussels and then walked away with a huff. She came back immediately for our main course order and I asked her about the pasta dish which she rudely said “we have no more of that either. If you hadn’t have been speaking so much then you could have ordered it but there’s no more left now” we felt like we were being TOLD OFF by a teacher! She was very stern and cold and we felt very awkward. This resulted in us all panic ordering the salmon off the specials menu because she had been so rude and we just wanted to carry on enjoying our night. We didn’t let her ruin our vibe but my goodness for such a lovely restaurant, she made us feel like we were naughty children who were being punished for having fun! Delicious food and drinks but not the unfriendly, rude service that we expected to be paying for at such a premium on such a special night out with friends.

Visited this restaurant last night as a last minute booking and couldn’t have been more pleased. Three of us and every dish we had was so hot and fresh and full of flavour. Tuna nicoise was the best ever and a lovely steak beautifully cooked as well as the special of fish with ratatouille . We loved our meal so much that we booked it again tonight for the 2nd night of our visit and everything was again 100%. Not often that happens. Staff were fantastic too.

First time visiting and looking forward to going back again soon!!! Had a delicious Margarita and gin and tonic. We shared chateaubriand and it was perfectly pink and soft and tasty. Delicious sauces and sides also. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance and the service was great 😊 loved it

Never let’s us down. Me and my wife like to eat out, and in Cheltenham and surrounding area we are spoilt for choice. When we return to Gallimore’s, which we often do, we always wonder “why do we go anywhere else”. Atmosphere, menu choice, service, meal quality all excellent and excellent value. We will be back again, and again.

Visited with wife, daughter and dog. Food was good, staff were nice and the venue is dog friendly. We would definitely visit again. Two suggestions: 1. Pepper grinders would be nice. 2. Only 1 draft lager which I liked but wife was not keen on as she does not like craft lagers - a mainstream 'banker' like Budvar would be great.

Today we went to Gallimores with 8 friends and family to celebrate our wedding. It was wonderfully warm and as relaxed and informal as we had hoped for. The restaurant staff were efficient and cheerful, the food was delicious, The vegetarians in the party were well catered for and the final bill for 10 of us was very reasonable. Highly recommended!!

Popped in for a late breakfast after a wedding on our way home down "South". Lovely location in the courtyard, and the sun was shining so sat outside. But it went down hill from there. We were served fairly quickly for drinks but we didn't get them for about 15 minutes. We asked after 25 minutes if food coming and the first plate came out about 10 minutes later. Mine came about 5 minutes after that. We ordered the full English and the eggs Royal. My dish (eggs) was pleasant but the full English wasn't great and tasted like it had been cooked in old cooking oil. Because the food had taken the better part of 35 minutes we had to rush our eating as we were on a tight schedule. Staff were pleasant but by the time my food came I was so distracted by thinking where is it, it became quite stressful! Disappointing. Wouldn't recommend for that reason. And not just us. Looking at others waiting you realised that the service from the kitchen was slow. They need to sort that out.

We were visiting Cheltenham for the first time and found Gallimore's recommended online by a local reviewer. Lovely meatless Sunday lunch, good service, relaxing afternoon and great value.

Unlike some of the other comments, the staff were very nice and helpful and food arrived very quickly. However, both our starters had been burnt and the mains were very dry and tasted almost out of date. If you go there for the food, don't bother, it's not worth it at all

This is the second time we tried this restaurant. The first time the Eastern European woman ( not ) greeting possible diners was so rude and so abrupt we didnt stay. This second time we tried again. The same rude and unhelpful woman was there and once again shouted I want the table back in just over an hour ( there was no-one sitting outside except for us and no-one there when we left) ..no good morning, no smile, no help. I dont know how many customers this woman costs the owners but it must be many. She is such a bad choice for front person. The breakfast was ok.

Very disappointed with my experience. The staff member was on her own but there were only 3 tables of people and the delays were not acceptable. A couple demanded they be served first, even though they were the last in, and as such everybody had to wait for them. A customer walked in for a takeaway coffee, meaning the person behind the counter was too busy dealing with them to do our drinks. Overall it was about a 20 minute delay for a coffee and a lemonade. Also the staff member was complaining if she is expected to work on a Friday she needs more staff backing her up. It was 3 tables she needed to wait on. That’s it. Definitely disappointing. Based on this experience I wouldn’t come again.

Really disappointed with both the food and the service. The crockery was dirty and we had to ask for a replacement more than twice. The main course arrived before they cleared the starters and dessert was brought without cutlery. Meanwhile the number of glasses accumulated on the table and were not collected even when they brought the coffees after desserts. As per the food, it was mediocre at best and inedible at worst. We left half of a dish on the plate and we’re not even asked about it when the plates were collected.

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. I went here for lunch one Saturday and it was lovely. Had a great fish of the day and shared mussels and oysters. All good and nice sitting on the sun, reminiscent of a Mediterranean lunch. I was looking forward to returning and went on a hot weekday evening and it was a different experience. Service was incredibly slow. We waited half an hour for a drink. I think they could have at least placed a carafe of water on the table whilst we waited. I felt very dehydrated after a hot day. Maybe the place was understaffed but this is too long to wait. The moules marinière was nice but I don’t think it’s acceptable to serve packet long life baguette in a restaurant like this. Decent baguette can be sourced in Cheltenham. I assumed the witch sole, special of the day, might be like Dover sole but it was flounder. It came unfiltered and was really not good at all, slimy skin and not much flesh. I complained and the waitress took it off the bill. We were left disappointed by the meal so now are unsure whether to return despite loving the first time.

My friend and I shared the seafood platter which was divine! Sitting outside on the courtyard with the sun shining, eating seafood felt like being on holiday

Visited here with friends on their recommendation. First time to try the chateaubriand and it did not disappoint. Came with chips, mushrooms, tomato’s, bernaise and the most amazing peppercorn sauce. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will certainly return in the future.
