Visited on probably six times during summer months this year 2024 , me and my wife rate the fish & chip /steak pie lunch 10/10 , meals are served hot , on a warm plate , freshly cooked , with a complementary fried onion ring ( very tasty ) and slice of fresh lemon perfect with the cod fish, but the best of all is Sandra`s home made Tartar sause , made by Sandra herself , so creamy and satisfying , probably the best Tartar I have ever tasted , for a fairly priced and enjoyable lunch visit this place , but most of all , ask for Sandra`s home made Tartar its the best , Southport Locals Ian & Deb

We were on holiday and were looking forward to some seaside fish and chips, with high expectations we were sceptical, how we were wrong, we were recommend and Wow, we had the most beautiful fish & Chips in a lovely clean seating area with amazing service by Dee, she was wonderful and a huge credit to the business. Absolutely 100% would recommend. Thank you.

This once terrific fish and chip shop is slowly losing its way. 2 days ago my wife and I decided on a take out and I ordered, at the counter, fish and chips twice. The queue was in single figures yet it took exactly 28 minutes for my take away to be ready. We opened them 3 minutes later only to find the fish batter gooey and not with the characteristic crunchyness Fylde Road fish shop is renowned for. The chips were soggy and the meal not hot. This is the 3rd time we have been disappointed with this icon in as many weeks. We will not be going again.

Tuesday 18th June. Bought large chips and Cod. Was was shocked to find so many Large bones in the fish. What happened to fish being flitted ? Don’t want to spend my time picking bones from fish.

OMG Iv just had to go for another shop because I’m still so hungry after ordering large chips and large fish. Not good. Quality was really nice but I’m so disappointed at the portion sizes. Just charge me more but don’t disappoint me with your cost cutting.

Been going to Fylde Fish bar for years and always been fine. Went on the 13/10/23 at 17.30. Served by a lovely young lady. Really pleasant person. The fish, chips and peas were excellent. Went to pay the bill of £24 and was seen by the same lady that took my order. I was commenting on how much we had enjoyed them when the guy that owns it came over poking his nose in. He told me to stop talking to the staff as that was interfering with the service. I said to him are we not allowed to speak to the staff? He said to the waitress stop speaking to them and they will get out of the shop. How rude is that and I’m sure he embarrassed the young lady. He obviously wants our money but has a big chip on his shoulder. I would say that he is not a good person to work for. Will never go there again. What he forget is there are many other places that people can spend money besides Fylde Fish bar. Normally for people to behave in that manor they have problems.

Disgusting attitude from "the fryer" who wouldn't let anyone place an order because she was on the phone for 15 minutes. I had to repeat my order to the girl on the counter about 4/5 times and she still got it wrong. When I got home and realised it was wrong, we called to complain but "the fryer" said "goodbye" and put the phone down. Great customer service!

Went the other evening and decided to sit in rather than take out so the food would be fresh out the frier. Very nice fish, fresh and lovely batter although two of the three were not very big. Chips were lovely as were the sides. Getting to be a dear meal though, over ten pounds without bread and butter or a drink so by the time these are added you're looking at fifteen pounds a head !! Complementary (and massive) onion ring was a plus. Servers looked very miserable ?

Very friendly staff, extremely clean, would recommend that you book in advance due to popurality, the food is excellent.

Chips terrible warm ups for pensioners disgusting for prices you pay worse chips every had going downhill but prices up never again chips do not buy unless fresh

This has got to be the worst chippy chips I have ever eaten. They were so under cooked and really soggy. The score would of been less but the fish was decent.

First visit and many more to come Loved the huge open kitchen....spotlessly clean. Indeed, very clean throughout including the wc. Fantastic choice....I went for the regular. Fish cooked just right with a thin layer of batter. Ditto chips. These guys know how to cook! Great team all working together. However, I must single Sandra out for a mention. Not so good today. Good fish and peas, but awful mushy chips. (Complimentary onion ring inedible - all batter). Dining room very clean as usual, but cold. Afraid the staff all looked a bit gloomy.

Busy little place! Friendly waiting staff, lovely food! We arrived at a busy time, but the very efficient waitress rearranged a booked table to make a space for us. Service was prompt and friendly, food was very good! Very impressed, and would definitely return. Was certainly very busy with diners, takeaway, and delivery drivers .....so must be very popular.... and I'm not surprised! Great job team ....you were definitely working hard and efficiently... thank you!

It’s our go to place as coeliacs. The batter is the best we’ve tasted. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We book to eat in for ease. No gf steak pie this time but look forward to it next time

I follow Fylde Fish Bar on Facebook (yes, I think they're that good) and they recently launched a new delivery service. I took advantage of this last night and it was great. Better than I expected as the delivery service worked like a charm. I selected my delivery slot earlier in the week via their new app. Payment was easy and the food when delivered was exactly on time and completely contactless. In spite of everything we're all going through, the food was top notch and exactly as it was before Covid-19 reared it's ugly head. I'll definitely be using the app again and would heartily recommend you do too if you're in the delivery area.

This has easily been the best proper chippy in southport for years. Add to that the only to open up in lockdown with a newly developed app and deliver amazing food to your door. We were craving fish and chips for weeks!!Delivery needs to continue after lockdown as I am incredibly lazy so the attraction of being able to stay on the couch in my underpants and let the wonderful people at Fylde fish bar deliver to us is amazing. I just need to give them a key so I don’t have to get up.Best chippy ever.

Best fish and chips I've ever eaten and worth the 177 mile journey. Fish so delicate and the mushy peas just perfect. The steak pies are home made and filled full of succulent steak and gravy. Apple crumble comes in a large bowl swimming in lovely custard with a swirl of toffee. Staff always happy and friendly.

Signed up to TripAdvisor just so I could leave a review. Quite simply the most friendly place and fantastic food anyone could wish for. My partner suffers from Coeliac and the choice on offer was better than anywhere we have visited, she could basically have anything on the menu. We both ordered the 'Cod Set Meal' which was £9.95 and brilliant value, as it came with chips, a choice of gravy or curry sauce and a drink. When we came to order for our 18 month old daughter, we was told that kids eat free on Mondays which was even better. Now to the food itself, just absolutely FANTASTIC! Fresh, tasty and the nicest curry sauce we both have tasted. The portion size was amazing for the price and we both struggled to finish. The staff themselves were all incredibly warm and welcoming, and made us feel comfortable through our entire visit. All this for £20!! We will not think twice about visiting again and will happily travel to do so, and we advise others to give this wonderful establishment a try and the recognition it deserves!

Visited tonight for our Grandmas 81st Birthday. I had messaged the Facebook page the previous evening to enquire re booking and told them it was a birthday visit. We turned up and they had provided a Birthday banner which was very sweet. Food was delicious. My 3 year old is super fussy and ate his whole meal of fish bites. I was told the fish dinners were delicious. I asked for a slimming option and was offered grilled fish with jacket and salad which was terrific. Had a really nice chat with the owner too who took time out to speak to us and wish Grandma a happy birthday. Really great family restaurant!

Visited Friday lunchtime so the place was quite busy. We seated ourselves and waited for service. Another couple came in and sat at a nearby table. They were served while the staff ignored us even when we signalled directly to them. Eventually our order was taken but not before we were asked to move tables. My partner was ready to leave but I persuaded him to stay and we put up with the further delay while we settled at our new table (right next to the door to the toilets!). The food eventually arrived and couldn't be faulted. The fish was very tasty and the chips were also of the highest quality. Perhaps the staff should consider serving customers in the order they arrive in the restaurant.

Sister's family, Anne & Douglas. You don't enjoy service like this too much. The people were friendly, happy and they enjoyed helping us. The dishes were fresh, tasty and the haddock A1, mushy peas ditto. Everything was so fresh. The decor was open and comfortable.

Always get gluten free fish bites here and they have been always excellent, but the last two times I have been very disappointed! The portions are getting smaller and there was barely any fish in the batter so felt like I had paid for fried batter!

Popped in with hubby whilst kids at football. Sat in cafe style restaurant. TV displaying a roaring log fire is a nice touch. I had cod and chips with a hot curry sauce. Husband had homemade steak pie with chips, mushy peas and gravy. The food was well done and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. Manager very welcoming, feels like a family run place. Could not fault it. Really nice fish and chips, really nice atmosphere.

After waiting for 10 mins for cheese and onion pie was served a soggy microwaved pie. Even after asking if the pies were cooked in the oven and being told they were so expected a nice one Took one bite and chucked it in the bin. Waste of money won't be returning

We have been here a number of times with my elderly grandpa to eat in the restaurant. The staff are always so friendly and accommodating. The gluten free fish and chips are the best I’ve had and food is always of high quality. Would definitely recommend.
