Went to Friska for lunch with a friend. The dining area was getting full as it was clearly prime time, but there wasn’t a queue and service was efficient and smiley. Atmosphere in this Friska is nice, very lively and open at the front of the store where the food is presented and where you order, but it’s a shame there isn’t more seating available. Plenty of choice on the menu to choose from. My friend opted for the seitan Katsu rice pot, which she seemed to really enjoy, whereas I tried something different for what I usually get: the chicken pho. I was a little disappointed when I took it to the counter and they just seemed to put hot water in the box before putting the lid back on - I don’t quite know was I was expecting, but definitely not a pot-noodle type of meal! It was actually alright though, to be honest I don’t usually like ramen or similar noodle dishes that are quite soupy, I prefer my noodles with less liquid because I’m not bothered about the broth, but I gave it a try and it was ok, the chicken was the best part but there wasn’t much veg in there. All in all it was reasonable for £5.20 though. I just think that when I next go back I’ll stick to what I have previously ordered and can recommend: the chicken gumbo rice box.

Today I tried a ‘House Bacon’ from Friska, Queen Square, Bristol and it did not disappoint. I have been looking forward to this all week as I have been to Friska before, but a long time ago. I unfortunately didn’t have the best start (completely my fault) as I went to the wrong Friska. They must be doing well as when I went last they only had 2 stores, now they appear to have 8?! So when I finally reached the correct store, I went in and was greeted by Mark the recently new General Manager who was sporting a horrifically brilliant shirt. All the staff we happy, the place was clean and tidy with a really nice vibe. I find that early in the morning a lot of people in food outlets can have zero personality but here they were buzzing! Because I pre arranged this, I was invited into the kitchen and watched my sandwich being made up close in person! This wasn’t a regular breakfast bacon sandwich, it’s wasn’t dirty, it wasn’t caked in bacon fat and butter. It was an elegant piece, full of avocado, tomato and packed with flavour. It’s the type of sandwich you don’t want to end but yet you treat with respect and take your time to enjoy. I sat down after it was made and opened the packaging. The bread was perfectly toasted in the press, lovely colour and held together well. One bite and the sun-dried ketchup mayo hits you and it’s so good! Suddenly this elegant sandwich becomes a torrent of oral satisfaction and you feel good and healthy just eating this. The bacon is really crispy and alone is nice but my ONLY criticism to this is that it didn’t have quite enough bacon, not because I’m bacon obsessed, it just need a bit more bacon flavour, I think it gets lost in there a little. I did find out that the the bacon is in fact smoked but I had to ask if it was smoked or plain. This really is an amazing bacon sandwich and I felt so good afterwards, I lacked that bloated “oh my god I wish I hadn’t eat so much” feeling. This by far deserves a 9 / 10 rating from me, well done guys, you are a hell of team with some great food being served. Thanks for having me, hopefully see you all again soon. HGC

Only stopped by for a coffee. But it was great. Staff were friendly and efficient. Lots of space inside but plenty of relaxed atmosphere. And coffees were nice.

Great place for cheap but delicious food. Lots of vegetarian and gluten free options as well. Decor was slightly tacky.

Totally loved our visit here. Popped in for breakfast and wasn’t disappointed. Great ‘fry up’ in a box for approx a fiver (can’t remember the exact price!) Staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would defiantly go back! Highly recommended.

Food is always excellent, hats off to the manager who runs the place brilliantly. Staff are always very friendly and accomodating. Dan particularly is fantastic with customers and always has a smile on his face!

We love going to Friska! All the staff are amazing and friendly, in particular Eugene is always so welcoming and kind. We look forward to chatting with him every time we visit. The food is always delicious!

Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday before visiting the museum. Has a nice atmosphere and a decent buzz! Has an open kitchen which I always like. I had a bean burrito and a ginger beer; my girlfriend had a chicken wrap. The wrap was lovely - nice Asian flavours and good crunchy slaw. The burrito was lovely too. Good coffee also. Would recommend this place for a quick, cheap, filling lunch if you’re ever on Park Street.

Family lunch on a hunch and we were well catered for - 3 of us had the noodle soups and others had sandwiches - all were very good. Interesting menu with choice for lots of different people, very busy at lunchtime. Will be a successful operation I think.

A couple of us had breakfast here instead of using the hotel options. Great food, good coffee and really helpful staff. Well worth using and shall agin

Really, really fantastic coffee with delicious and abundant milk alternatives. The breakfast menu is great for those wanting something quick and healthy. The staff are super friendly too- excellent customer service.

This place is a good place to get a nice breakfast, there are plenty of fresh choices, hot and cold. There are not a lot of tables though, so takeway is a good option too.

Sizeable fashionable coffee shop / eatery with lots of seating - some overlooking park street and some at the back. Really friendly service and excellent coffee. Baby changing facilities. Would definitely return.

Had a most fabulous lunch, delicious fresh food - hot wraps were full and tasty, even tempted by the yummy cakes! To top it off we had great coffee and such friendly service! Will definitely recommend and return again & again!

Tried the meatballs hotpot and enjoyed the flavours. Love the place and music. Staff was friendly and food was served fast.

Called in for brunch, lovely place. Really clean and tidy, friendly staff. Pancakes are amazing. We had he banana ones and the yogurt and fruit ones, both tasted fabulous! Lattes were great too 👍🏼 love it, will be back!

Good options and good prices. Great location for coffee breaks in uni, with a great selection of cakes including gluten free and vegan options. The interior is also very beautiful, and I find it is a lovely place to work in!

Came here for lunch with my sister. Both the pho and the dopiaza were outstanding and one of the best lunches I have had in Bristol. Fresh food with plenty of flavour.
