Food was good but very expensive for the quality and the quantity both.

Best restaurant in Leicester for the quality of food and service, highly recommend it. Booked Friends for my sons birthday party and they went the extra mile to make sure it was a fantastic day. Catering for 25 people was no problem at all. Owners and staff were really attentive and nothing was too much trouble.My family eat out regularly in Leicester and are really fussy eaters and can be hard to please and without exception were all highly complemtary about every dish. Will definitely be coming back.

Absolutely fantastic place. Called in on the off chance and so glad we did. Was given a lovely welcome by the staff/management. Ordered chicken tikka masala and a chicken tikka jalfrezi., rice and Nan. Both curries were fantastic thick sauce and very flavoursome. After we had finished the owner came over to have a chat to us.so warm and welcoming. Would definitely go back if in Leicester again.

We had an exceptional “last minute” meal here with friends, the staff were very accommodating, friendly and welcoming. We asked for the food to be prepared with extra spice and it was absolutely delicious! A friendly environment, would definitely return.

We enjoyed the food, the service was horrendous. We ordered our food and was told the portion of rice usually serves 2, what arrived was a miniscule bowl maybe 3 tablespoons worth of rice. I pointed out that the portion was too small only to be aggressively shouted at by the owner to say it was a standard portion. Half decent food let down by an owner or manager who hasn't a clue how to treat their customers. Never again thanks.

We even got a free dessert, which was excellent, Gulab Jamun and cream with beetroot halwa. The the staff showed us everything was handmade. Portions were great, starters were generous. Absolutely superb food, I highly recomend, from the serive they cant please enough, and tot he food whic is delicious. Bring from Indian Heritage and tried most restaurants around Leicester, this is by far and away the best. Dont hesitate

Genuinely one of the nicest Indian restaurants, came here for a friend's birthday. They were kind enough to organise a table of 7 on short notice, everything from service to food was amazing. My friend in question is vegetarian and from India so pleasing him is quite the task. He was very complimentary of the food, as were all the meat eaters. From the biryani, veg and meat mix grill to the chicken makhani. Everything was great. Thank you again for your great food, great service and we all hope to be back again very soon.

Excellent meal, the taste of Punjab and home cooking. Subtle blend of spices. The best Indian restaurant in Leicester! Our visitor from Amsterdam loved the tawa lamb. The rest of us are vegetarian and loved the Chana masala, bangen bertha and daal makhani.

Nice restaurant with plenty of seating and very welcoming staff. Food was ok, starters were very tasty but we both had lamb karahi for mains and it was very different to other karahi dishes we had elsewhere, maybe this food is from a different region? Usually served on a skillet in my experience. Priced quite high in my opinion but everything seems to be going that way.

Used to go to the FT at Melton Rd, same excellent service and the food is top notch. The bar has a great selection of drinks, and the lager is consistently excellent. Would recommend over any other restaurant locally. My go to is a half tandoori chicken eaten on a naan.

Lovely meal and attentive staff. A bit on the expensive side, but well worth it .The only downside is hearing the repetitive chime from the kitchen when food was ready to be collected. I can't imagine what it would be like when the restaurant is full. Don't let it put you off going, though. I would certainly go again.

Had a dinner there and it was fantastic. The owner welcomed us with hospitality and the two servers who took care of us were fantastic. The food was amazing. It is a bit more expensive than the other Indian places in the neighborhood but you can tell they use better ingredients. Thumbs up! I recommend their spicy dishes, so good!

My 2nd visit. I raved about it after first visit and my family thought couldn’t be as good as I said. They are all very fussy about Indian food. They did not disappoint! All said was best they had ever had. We tried each others and all amazing. All meats were cooked to perfection and sauces all delicious. Food not too heavy or oily but still filled me up as so delicious couldn’t leave anything. Service so friendly and even given bunch of flowers for Mother’s Day. We have all tried a large variety of Indian food and this is by far the best.

Love queens road always there in vsrious bars. So excited to get a new Indian especially one with the recognised name of Friends which i have loved over the years . I really wanted it work so it could be my new local. Alas despite the warm welcome the staff where beyond useless . Ehen ordering thry seemed to be unaware of the dishes with me having to say the word bhaji several times before they understood. When the main finally arrived it was delivered to the wrong table then dumped on our table without tellingus which meal was which. I got up and asked eventually somebody pointed out which was which. When the main man wslked past and asked ok i replied well we despite anybody not knowing what they doing we got food eventually. His reply was " staff are staff mate don't worry the management are even worse" I so wanted this this to be good but it wasnt to be.

As always Friends never disappoints. Friendly attentive waiter and waitress and the food was delicious. The Aloo Cholley and king prawn goanese were so good. Clean, friendly and always top food.

Very good curries, relaxed service (in a good way!), great wine selection. A welcome change to have Indian desserts on the menu too rather than generic ice creams etc from a freezer. Reasonable price for everything on the menu.

Wow - I love Indian food and am so pleased to have discovered this place! Pleasant restaurant environment with friendly staff who accommodated our largish party easily. I had the vegetable biriani, which was a joy to eat, fresh and tasty and not oily at all. We also ordered lots of side dishes to share, and each was distinct, cooked in its own sauce (unlike some places that seem to just put different vegetables into the same sauce!) and delicious. The dal was especially lovely. Others in our group really like the lamb dishes they had, and the naan bread was fluffy and excellent.

Used to go years ago when it was on Belgrave Road and I lived in Leicester. Delighted to now see it on Queens Road and it was a curry for the ages. Lovely restaurant where you from start to finish were made to feel most welcome. The food was as good if not better than I remembered and the whole experience was brilliant from start to finish. A welcome surprise. My first visit to Friends. I had the lamb tawa which was excellent. Not alot places can get the lamb that tender. I would have liked the tandoori roti to have been a bit bigger to mop up the tasty sauce. It was a bit smaller than the roti you normally get. Otherwise a great experience with good service. Will be back

Yes, we would buy again (this was our second time) but compared with another restaurant from which we enjoyed take-outs, it is I bit on the expensive side. So, it's a treat when we do get a meal from them. We haven't used the eat-in option of the restaurant other than to collect food, but the atmosphere feels pleasant enough with no irritating loud music. The staff are always very friendly too.

Ordered a takeaway with high hopes given the number of positive reviews. We ordered a chicken, lamb and vegetarian dish along with sheek kebabs. We found all of the dishes quite basic and bland, which was very disappointing. They even lacked seasoning and the lamb was also a little fatty. Unfortunately I wouldn't pay another visit or recommend. Update - dropped to one star as the food upset my stomach. Would definitely not go back here.

The is by far our favourite Indian restaurant we've been to. Consistently fresh and tasty and the people are also really nice. We often get take-away/delivery as we have a newborn at home and the owner is always very accomodating. 100% recommend if in Leicester.

Friends has managed to maintain takeaways of a consistently high standard. The dishes are always the right temperature, full of flavour and as ordered. Full marks to Friends staff for providing a high point to our weekend despite the lockdown restrictions.

Really delicious food. I'd give more stars if I could. You can tell they use fresh ingredients and that they care about what they serve up. We've often avoided Indian takeaways in the past because they've been too greasy, because it sometimes lacks any depth of flavour, or because the meat has been chewy and rubbery. This place has totally transformed my view of the food that can be delivered to our door.
