Spice Bazzar in Leicester

Nice quality food. It was busy for a Monday but felt they were under staffed and were stressed as a result and not the freindlist they could have been.

We had been out for the day, decided a curry was our preferred option. We rang although busy they would accommodate. Meal was usual high quality, restaurant very busy as it was Saturday evening not rushed in any way.

We have tried numerous Indian restaurants throughout Leicester, and there is no doubt a wide and varied choice. But have to say, Spice Bazzar is our number 1 choice and by some distance. Fresh, flavoursome dishes and a depth of choice… not just made from the same gravy/sauce like some places but intriguing and subtle dishes to enjoy and try. The staff and management guarantee a warm welcome and are attentive at all times. It is a pleasure to eat here!!!

Without a doubt one of the best Indian restaurants in Leicester, backed up by the many awards it has won. You nearly always need to book to get in as it is always busy. The food is excellent, staff are brilliant, onsite parking is on the street so be mindful if you're travelling, just outside Leicester city centre, you will not be disappointed here

Delivery within an hour, Chicken Madras was amazing and spicy with pilau rice delicious. Naan bread fresh and tasty. Really enjoyed the food and also good value for one person ordering. Thank you also for the sauces and popadom.

The food was good, as usual. But when I went to pay at the counter I saw the word "Jewish" had been crossed out from their religious holidays calendar. Just that word, nothing else. This casual anti-Semitism has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Response: I was looking around for a list of take away prices for information. On the counter, upright by the wall, I saw a book (probably a diary of some sort) with the first page showing a list of religious holidays. I didn't mention it to the staff then because I was too disturbed by it. I assume you somehow didn't know about it since you're condemning it. Now that you know where it is I hope you'll do something about it.

There really nothing to complain about at Spice Bazzar. Lovely food. Friendly staff. Convivial atmosphere. You might need to book tho' I recommend prawn on puree and saag paneer. And delivery is easy too

A disappointing meal, with overcooked meat and underwhelming flavours. The naan was particularly meh in size, texture, and flavour. Perhaps we got them on a bad day, given this place has been recommended by friends, or you aren't supposed to order from the standard curry list.

The most overrated restaurant i have ever visited in my life! I trusted the reviews and well there. They gave a seat and said luckily one is empty(!) Then i ordered lamb dhosa and mixed curry with chapati. Every single item was made without salt (?) i mean what?? And the spices were okay but not like anything Indian subcontinent culture!! Today, I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Spice Bazaar in Leicester, and it was nothing short of disappointing. Despite its accolades, the restaurant failed to deliver on multiple fronts, from the quality of the food to its authenticity. We ordered the Chicken Rezalla, expecting a rich and flavorful dish. Instead, what we received was a far cry from any Rezalla (see the images of red colour shredded chicken masala)we had ever tasted. The dish lacked the depth and complexity that one would expect from a well-prepared Indian curry. Furthermore, the Jaipur Chicken, misspelled as “Joypur” on the menu, added to the overall feeling of inauthenticity. This typographical error might seem minor, but it speaks volumes about the restaurant’s attention to detail and commitment to authentic cuisine. What was even more disappointing was the realization that Spice Bazaar, despite being an award-winning establishment, does not serve authentic Indian cuisine. Instead, it is run by a Bangladeshi team, and while Bangladeshi cuisine can be delightful, it is not what one expects when seeking authentic Indian flavours. Leicester, known for its diverse and high-quality culinary scene, deserves better. The experience was a stark reminder that awards can often be subjective and do not always reflect the true quality of a restaurant. Spice Bazaar’s recognition in the market seems to be more about marketing than genuine culinary excellence. This is a prime example of how a market economy can sometimes fail to prioritise the customer’s true dining experience. In conclusion, Spice Bazaar was a major letdown. For those seeking authentic and high-quality Indian food in Leicester, I would recommend looking elsewhere. For a general night out ,it's okay, I wouldn't recommend a romantic meal there .It's too small and dependent on the clientele, may be too loud . They do very well with takeaways and some friends and family have recommended that. It's a personal choice but I wouldn't go there again. My family enjoyed their meals ,though I have tasted better elsewhere. Sorry, Spice Bazaar, just not my curry favourite.

Booked really late on a Friday night as we came out of a gig. They said they'd hold the table till 10pm. We got there in the nick of time. Very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Didn't rush us even though it was late. Been here a few times, the food is great, the service is spot on and the pricing is fair for the quality food you get. Best pickle tray of any Indian I've eaten in 😉

Seen it on Adam Richman eats Britain so thought would try , really friendly, absolutely great food and very reasonable.

After watching adam richmans show i had to dine in and try the chicken joypur. WOW the curry was the best ive ever had. We also got recommended the king prawn tawa with lemon rice. I can now see why this is the best curry house in leicester. If you are looking for a curry to try SPICE BAZZAR is the place to be. Service was excellent.

If you want an amazing curry then this is the place to go. Having recently moved to Leicester we have tried several places and were almost giving up on finding a good curry. Then we visited spice bazaar. Totally delicious. Can’t wait to revisit.

Staff are very attentive and give good advice on the dishes. Food is outstanding. Very clean and staff dressed immaculately. 100% recommended. I’m from Nottingham but will visit again.

Arrived Sunday for the first time on recommendation. No warm greeting, small restaurant and tables too crammed next to each other even though floor upstairs was empty full of tables and unoccupied -Drink spilt on my husband, table and floor, which I might add I cleaned the floor myself, table cloth changed almost immediately manager I think looked more embarrassed than apologetic, said thats okay mistakes happen.Really ! Not good enough.. We were not offered to move! Popperdoms offered I thought was complimentary was not advised was chargeable when the bill came nothing was taken off the price or even offered complimentary It was almost like we were not wanted there and was catered vastly for the non ethnic Pictures on the walls (the manager posing with so many of his guests no ethnicity) suggested a communal experience but far from it. Best lamb chops in town, hands down! Nice thick sized chops, food and service was banging too! The green spicy chutney is the 1 with the different meats! Ma sha Allah! Allahumma barik! Best chops I've ate in ages! The owners/staff seem down to earth and humble too, good family vibe! Would definitely scope this spot out! 👌

Came here for a Mothers Day lunch earlier today. Food was amazing and was served in a very timely manner. Abdul our waiter recommended a couple of very tasty and flavoursome dishes. We will definitely come here again.

Spice Bazaar have been offering a Mother's Day special menu with a starter, main course, a naan or rice for £15 so went along today with the family. The restaurant was lovely and we were made very welcome. The service and quality of food was second to none and the flavours were exquisite. We all came away full and very content. It has always been a wonderful place for a meal and it still very much is. Thoroughly recommended and open every day of the year as well.

SB never fails to satisfy. Food is top quality and always filling, satisfying and a joy to eat. The restaurant always busy and vibrant and the staff constantly available attentive and professional. I take family of all ages there as often as possible and when its not possible to eat in, we take out and have such a delightful meal with SB food at home! By far the best food in the city!

One word review: Overrated Probably the worst Indian restaurant in Leicester in terms of portion sizes, taste, and value for money. Starters: Not like your usual Indian restaurants (Paddy's, Little Club etc) . Sizzler is well below average. This needs to change so it can be shared rather than for 1 person. Same goes for other starters too. Mains: Well just average. The naans aren't the best. Service: Rushed to order the food, didn't get asked how everything was. Much better Indian restaurants in Leicester elsewhere!!

Replying to the owners reply - First of all you should state the portion sizes on the menu to avoid confusion. And the waiter did not say whether the food was okay. And even if the main is for one person only it's definitely not with the tiny pieces of chicken in the curry. The menu is not very clear.

They restaurant is currently trialing a locally brewed Indian larger called 'Indian King'. Sharp and light, it does go well with a curry.

Excellent curry house on the Welford Road in Leicester. Been in a few times, lovely inside, quite bijou downstairs which I personally like, I believe there is seating upstairs but I haven't been up. Abdul and his staff are all great, attentive, chat with you if want but not in your face. The food is fantastic, I've not had a bad dish from Spice Bazzar, always tasty, hot and fresh and not overly expensive either. They also deliver locally too which is handy if you are a lazy so and so like me, add in a bottle of beer from their range if you want and that's delivered too, no over the phone payment or online ordering , cash on delivery. Very highly recommended, infact I must dash as I am about to place an order ! Visit and enjoy or call for a delivery, you wont be disappointed. Given a table in the window, felt like goldfish everyone passing by looking in. Food was average not sure the about hype in the press. Ordered Veg karahi, when the order came it was veg korma it was too late to send back after we had taken curry in our plate. It was mentioned at the end when the waiter came to pick up our plates that we were given wrong curry. Albeit the waiter did take the cost of the wrong curry off the bill. Our overall opinion was the food is very average in taste.

So, Leicester has loads of good places to have a curry, and this deffinately is one of them, and up at the top of the list. It's my go to for a take away and I've never been dispointed. Good food, good service at a good price. 👍

Great Indian restaurant on the Welford Road. They have a huge selection of dishes from different regions. Service is friendly and efficient, and the food is excellent. Portions are pretty big. This place was busy so I would recommend booking.

Just had THE MOST AMAZING meal in the Spice Bazaar - staff took a lot of time to discuss our requirements and recommended several dishes for my friends & I based on our likes & dislikes - the dishes were made exactly how we wanted them and were amazingly tasty - I had a Veg Naga Peri Peri which was spicy & very tasty - being vegan, he went out of his way to make sure everything was vegan and I can honestly say it was about the best curry I have had - my (non vegan) friends agreed. Also loved the dips for the poppadums - tasted homemade (the lime pickle wasn't as sharp as usual, it had a nice rounded flavour) and there were a few different ones in there, too, which were lovely. Only downside was, because it was so small and full, with a large group in, it was very noisy at times - although a couple of beers in & I think we gave the noisy ones a run for their money! :-) I'll be returning again shortly.

Had such a great time here! The waiter helped me and my guest choose the best main meal that tailored our taste buds. They even kept the drinks flowing, which again was something we requested. They really was attentive and happy to spend time and chat with us, as it's a family run business with a lot of history related to Leicesters great culture from all around Leicestershire. Very surprised with so many great reviews. Very very disappointing food. Bland to say the least. Spinach dish wasn't even like a curry. King prawns inedible. Parathas wrapped in plastic bag and absolutely dreadful soggy mess as a result. Lamb substandard and chewy. One star as the paneer was acceptable.

ordered the BBQ pack for £40. Its so tasty and something different on the bbq! the flavour kept in the meat it was lovely! my partner collected it and said the staff were very friendly. would reccomend the bbq pack!
