We saw a queue and learnt why Frankie and Tonys is so popular. Superb fresh sandwiches made by lovely staff in front of you. I had Pastrami, mustard and pickle with salad in a granary soft bun, delicious. No wonder there is a queue oif locals.

Great, large selection of sandwich fillers and breads. They accomodate for vegetarians and other dietary specifics. The food was great and so was the treat that I bought on the side. Friendly and helpful staff.

Every sandwich is enough for two meals. I got three today, my lunch today and a supper to take home and melt cheese on, and a one to heat up with gravy tomorrow for the rugby, can’t go wrong for 13 quid, that’s less than a chippy nowadays. Great bread, obviously fresh ingredients and all the staff in gloves.

Funny that is two doors away from subway but what a great shop. Amazing very well organised choices. All made drag with salad. Bread was freh.

I have to try and limit myself to visiting F&Ts to once a week but sometimes fail. The sandwiches are amazing and the service is impeccable. The white cheese bomb is where it's at and there are fillings which aren't on the menu, but they're for me to know and you to find out.

Today was my first visit. I spied this immaculately clean shop and just had to try it out. For the first time ever I ate the full sandwich. It was large, fresh, tasty and just perfect! Thank you. I will be back!!

No me decepcionó que hubiera una amplia selección de sándwiches para elegir, económicos y excelentes para los estudiantes. Sin embargo, pensé que mi sándwich era muy picante, por lo tanto no pude terminarlo.

Excellent value for money and wonderful sandwiches. Definitely will be returning a lot. However, I have noticed that there seems to be disgruntled looks between employees and dismissive service. Good job the sandwiches make up for it!

Best, biggest and yummiest sandwich I have ever eaten. Very much a regular. I would suggest the hunters chicken with chipole but BBQ.

I often come here for a sandwich on my lunch (I walk down from the rvi- it’s worth the long walk for such a good sandwich). Plenty filling in the sandwich, fresh bread and a great price.

Literalmente, nunca he tenido un sándwich malo aquí, consistente en sándwiches, buen personal y el propietario es perfecto. El sabor de los sandwiches es perfecto, mi favorito es un blanco que se acompañará con una mezcla de club, pollo y tocino, pollo de coronación o cebolla roja de atún. Hay una razón por la que las colas son tan largas, entre las 11:30 y las 13:30 todos los días, ya sea profesional, turista, estudiante o visitante, también realizan pedidos que puede recoger. Definitivamente lo recomendaría.

I went here with friends for lunch between two lectures, I had previously read good reviews about it online so decided to give it a try. It offers a broad range of sandwiches and salads and it isn't expensive at all! It was also very good indeed!!! The only issue is that they don't accept credit card so you have to have cash with you (there's a bank just up the street though).

Great place to get a sandwich that is full of fillings and flavour, you can pick what you want to have in the sandwich and there's an abundance to choose from on the menu as well (my personal favourite is the bacon, mozzarella, tomato, and basil panini). If you go before 12:00 then there is less of a line-up, but it goes by fast so it's worth the wait if you get there after. The food and drinks are of good price too.

Great value for money and lots of different combinations available here. There is room for improvement, but can see why this place is so popular.

Por £2. 50 y £4 por un bocadillo, estos son excelente, excelente relación calidad-precio. Hay una gran variedad de pan blanco, marrón y serie en oferta y los bocadillos son enormes. La cantidad de ingredientes en cada bocadillo es más que abundante. Debido a esto, las colas son siempre enormes, especialmente en días laborables de 12 a 1. 30. Venga fuera de estas horas, si es posible!

Always enjoy it here. Sarnies are massive. Staff are friendly. Good value given the size of the food. They should do more veggie food...that aside I always enjoy a visit. The queues are massive BTW so be prepared to wait.

It's a small shop with queues often out the door, however the waits worth it. Wide range of sandwiches. Fresh, generous fillings, at an excellent price. The staff top it off with a friendly yet efficient atmosphere. Try the brownies or the millionaires shortbread to top it off.

Situated right next to subway, just off of the busy Northumberland Street in Newcastle. The fact that people cue for around 10 minutes for a sandwich says it all really, especially when people are cueing outside of subway for a sandwich for Frankie and Tony's.What I love is that it is reasonably priced and is made with fresh produce daily. Unlike eat4less the sandwiches here are enjoyable to have and you do not get that sense of regret that you get from said establishment. But it is also cheaper than subway (better tasting in my opinion too).There is a large list of sandwiches on offer, or you can customise your own. I usually stick with the 'club sandwich' which is never a let down, 2.90 for this is a reasonable price, honestly. Nice and friendly staff too, which helps with the buying process.

I go everyday for my salad it is excellent value at £3, great portions and extremely fresh produce, good quality breads, the staff are pleasant but a little robotic due to being so busy!.. come on girls smile a little more ;)

I've been coming here for years - one of the most popular sandwich bars in Newcastle. There's normally a queue that goes outside and down the street from about 12.15, but the staff are quick and efficient, and it doesn't normally take long to be served, so don't let the size of the queue put you off!They offer a great range of deli fillings for sandwiches, on a choice of breads, with margarine or mayonnaise, and with a choice of 4 salad items (lettuce, cucumber, tomato and onion), all very reasonably priced and with masses of filling.Their salad boxes are £3 and contain lettuce, cucumber, tomato, red onion, beetroot, sweetcorn, carrot, pineapple, egg and coleslaw, plus your choice of deli topping.There's also a daily range of soups and baked potatoes, plus a superb breakfast menu and a selection of drinks and cakes.

Came here on the way to the library for a sandwich great selection and was very busy sandwich filled me up for the whole day!

I pop down to this quaint sandwich bar a few times a week with my colleagues. The service is sharp, snappy and friendly and the food is fresh and delicious.I would seriously recommend the salad boxes, they are divine.I am a very happy customer and will be returning for a long time.

This is an excellent place to pick up a sandwich/salad/cake (and more) for lunch. the portions are huge and excellent value for money, I've tried quiet a few sandwiches and they have all been delicious. My favourites are the meat feast and hunters chicken. You choose your filling and then bread/bun type and there's LOADS to choose from. It is usually busy with a queue out the door, but because of the great service it always goes down fast. I would highly recommend.

This review is based on solely, and many, cheese and coleslaw sandwiches. I find the price a good value - the buns taste very fresh, as if recently made, any margarine or mayonnaise is plentiful and you can taste its creaminess and there is quite a lot of filling in the sandwich. You also have the option of four salad items to put on top of your standard menu sandwich: lettuce, red onion, cucumber and tomato - all a solid handful. The sandwich is then wrapped up and then placed in a brown paper bag for you to take out, a simple yet effective packaging.During my visits, the staff have typically been friendly, helpful and patient enough for you but sometimes -mostly when the queue is out of the door- the patience is wearing thin.Although just a sandwich, it is the size of the bun and quantity of the filling makes a satisfying midday lunch.

Sandwiches are huge and tasty and really good value for money. However if you dare to change the ingredients on the menu prepare to be sighed at. Also whining about other customers between staff members in front of a shop full of customers is highly unprofessional. All in all a decent place to grab lunch just wish the staff would smile a bit!

This used to be my favourite spot for lunch. For the last 6 years (since 2009) I have attended daily but lately the standards have started to slip. I remember the times when I didn't mind the £3.20 for a sandwich that trumped all others. One month ago I started sourcing my lunch elsewhere after constantly leaving the shop with a thin and almost flat sandwich. The fillings have always been tasty but the quantity has diminished rapidly. It's sad to see a place that was once so consistent deliver a series of poor results to a loyal customer.

Usually go for lunch every day at Frankie and Tony's with a group of friends, however, recently the staff have been rather 'ungenerous' with the fillings. F&T's is renowned for its big sandwiches that will fill you up, and if they no longer have that, they have lost their USP and will lose custom. Disappointed and considering going elsewhere. Would usually have given this five stars, but not as it stands currently.

Having left another sandwich place over the road due to witnessing endless cross-contamination, I ventured here, to find that it was even worse. Staff were laying out bits of meat on sandwiches, then putting their hands in the salad bowls.I'm a vegan, but really that shouldn't matter. I'd imagine the FSA would have a field day.

Returned a 2nd time, same food, same price. Returned a 3rd time to be told £3.20 after i had ordered and waited (which i dont mind as they were busy) - when I asked why as I have had the same sandwich twice before was rudely told... its "10p for pesto, always has been" - no smile, no apology, no explanation to why I had been served twice. It is not advertised that pesto is 10p and it really should be and all staff should be trained properly to know this. Luckily I had the money (quite often I only have the exact cash) and know its only 10p but its the abrupt manner of the staff which is off putting. Really disapointed as the sandwiches are good.

There are so many places to choose from to take away for lunch but this has to be the best sandwich shop by far in Newcastle. The food is fresh; the portions are generous and the fact the queue is usually half way up the street speak volumes as to how good this place is.

Truly Newcastle's number one sandwich shop. My favourite is the meat feast but the choice is unreal and there is even specials great quality at a great price you can't go wrong and you won't be disappointed . Go try it
