Foxhound Inn in Scarborough

Fui por primera vez para el almuerzo del domingo. Es un lugar muy concurrido y muy bien organizado. La comida está bien, pero demasiado, así que tuvimos que dejar un poco, que odio. Sería mejor servir porciones más pequeñas, entonces si alguien requiere más verduras, podría tomar algunas. Buen personal amable, pero no creo que volvería de nuevo.

Hemos estado viniendo a perros zorro durante unos 7 años las últimas 3 veces que hemos estado la experiencia ha sido muy diferente a lo que hemos estado acostumbrados en el pasado, pero anoche no fue bueno dijo que podría ser 1 hora de espera para una mesa que es normal cuando está ocupado y eso no fue un problema, entonces nos dieron un pitido para avisarnos cuando la mesa estaba lista que estaba bien, pero también nos dijeron que podíamos ir a pedir por adelantado nuestra comida, no podía acercarse a la barra para pedirlo y no estaba seguro de que quería hacer eso realmente, solo esperamos unos 35 minutos para la mesa, pero cuando nos sentamos nadie preguntó si habíamos pedido por adelantado, así que le dije a un miembro del personal que no hemos pedido por adelantado después de unos 20 minutos, luego unos 10 minutos después, un miembro del personal de señora vino a tomar nuestro pedido junto con otras 4 mesas, luego puso todos los pedidos a la cocina de una sola vez, tuve la impresión de que no quería volver a las mesas, luego esperamos unos 50 minutos para la comida que era de esperar con cómo se hicieron los pedidos por ella, ella no es nueva en el trabajo ha estado trabajando allí todo el tiempo que he estado yendo, fue bastante grosero con otros clientes en otra mesa empujándolos fuera de su camino para llegar a la mesa, luego alcanzando a mi hijo cuando comía su pudín para obtener su plato a menudo tengo el Gammon que era un agradable como siempre, mi marido obtuvo el nuevo plato de comida callejera que no era normal no era normal si el pitido de este sistema nuevo, pero no parece que funcione otra noche, pero espero que mejore las cosas

Busqué un menú en línea antes de visitar y solo pude encontrar esto a través de trip advisor, luego me topé con bastantes críticas mixtas que luego cuestionaron si aún deberíamos ir. Me alegro de haberlo hecho, hemos estado un par de veces ahora en la zona y siempre hemos sentido que teníamos buena comida con una buena relación calidad-precio. Tuvimos la cena asada, y la barbacoa de pan plano y ambos salieron bien presentados. La comida era agradable y la cena asada tenía un montón de opciones con las verduras en ella. El personal era agradable y aunque charlaron entre ellos eran atentos y nada parecía demasiado problema. Volveremos cuando sea el siguiente en la zona

He estado viniendo al foxhound por comida durante más de 5 años. Viajamos alrededor de 45 minutos cada vez solo para venir y generalmente nos encanta! No estoy seguro de lo que ha pasado, pero vinimos recientemente para una cena y nos quedamos tan sorprendidos con el servicio y la comida. Nos dijeron que no tenían mesas, pero nos alegramos de esperar. Luego nos mostraron a una mesa y nos dimos cuenta de que habían bloqueado el conservatorio, lo que nos pareció extraño, nos sentamos en la mesa más pequeña en una esquina cuando otras personas que entraron al mismo tiempo que nosotros se pusieron en mesas grandes. Entonces nos dejaron para siempre, aunque estaba muy claro que estábamos listos para ordenar. ¿Dos miembros del personal estaban charlando y mirándonos directamente, pero no vinieron? Esperamos pacientemente hasta que un miembro del personal finalmente vino. Mi novio pidió la “hamburguesa de cerdo entero” a lo que el camarero respondió “¿qué es eso? ?” que entendemos que es un menú grande pero lo dijo muy abruptamente. El camarero vino entonces para ordenar el pago. Pero luego pasaron 15 minutos y el otro miembro del personal vino con la máquina de tarjetas y nos pidió que pagáramos de nuevo! Y cuando dije que ya habíamos pagado me respondieron que no se había hecho en caja! Aunque definitivamente ya habíamos pagado. Luego observamos cómo todos recibían su comida menos nosotros, pero de nuevo nos sentamos pacientemente. La carne era dura cuando por lo general se desmorona y tenía un sabor extraño. Las patatas asadas eran claramente congeladas y eran arrugadas y no comestibles. Mientras estábamos comiendo, los dos miembros del personal continuaron de pie, no parecían preocuparse por el servicio al cliente en absoluto. Apenas toqué mi comida y nos fuimos bastante pronto sin que nos despejaran los platos. Esto es una pena, ya que el servicio y la comida suele ser increíble. No estoy seguro de lo que ha pasado: (

Visitamos el sábado 19 de octubre y pedimos 2 cenas mixtas de carne y 1 x pizza infantil - la cena estaba muy seca y las verduras obviamente estaban previamente congeladas o de una lata, no frescas, sin embargo, todavía logró estar seca. La pizza del niño era solo una pizza de Chicago. El lugar olía sucio. Fue extraño que usted pida y pague por su comida por separado a su pedido de bebidas. Cuando el camarero recogió nuestros platos completos, mi esposo mencionó que la comida era horrible y no se hicieron más preguntas, lo que nos hace pensar que probablemente saben que la comida no es buena y por eso pagas antes de recibir tu comida. Es seguro decir que no regresaremos.

We live in a village quite close to the Foxhounds and have been regular visitors. Yesterday Thursday 17th October, we went for a late lunch. My hubby opted for the small scampi, whilst I voted for the Foxhounds version of Parma. It was the worst meal I have ever eaten in this establishment. The chicken was so hard as to be inedible, I really couldn't make out what the sauce was supposed to be. The chorizo in the dish wasn't too bad, but the kebab was slightly better than the chicken. This was dolloped on. Top of a pile of chips, not nice, I like my food laid out nicely. I am so sad this happened as we have been constant visitors over the past 20 years, and had several family get togethers over this time. I have never had a poor meal, nor had any complaints regarding staff. We shall/may return, I ha e to me tion that perhaps a junior member staff cooked my meal, please learn how to cook chicken nicely, not nuke it. May I suggest a visit to the Honeypot Inn, Speighton, and order one of their Parma's, you could always tweak it to make it the Foxhounds special, also check the presentation. I hate to give a poor review on one of my regular haunts and hope you use this in a positive way. Sincerely, Patricia x

Called in on the way home from work, this place very local and been coming for years. Today was our first bad meal. Lasagne was tasteless ‘mush’ and the kebab dish i had came with the most disgusting ‘cheap tasting’ doner meat i’ve ever experienced, SO disappointed. Told waiter very politely of our views so in fairness we DID give them a chance to ‘put things right’, we waited 10 minutes for a response and there was none, so i have put my review on here instead. A real shame, because the presentation of our meals was AMAZING, but unfortunately on this visit we have deducted that standards have definitely taken a downturn.

We stopped for an evening meal on the way to Filey after 5hr drive. Staff were friendly and pub is dog friendly. We were shown to our table and our order was taken very quickly. The place was very large and full of holiday makers. The food was waiter service for ordering and drinks were ordered at the bar. Bar staff quick and efficient. You have to pay prior to your food being served so I can only assume they have had people do runners. Food choice was extensive but not much for vegans. Good kids menu and good choice of sides. Unfortunately when we arrived we weren’t told how long the wait was. On 35 mins we queried this and were told when we ordered it was 45 mins. Ended up being just over the hour. Probably would have driven on to Filey if we had known. Shame as food was excellent when it did arrive and was a large portion.

Sadly I am unable to review the food as we never did get to eat here So, purely reviewing the customer service. Arrived on Saturday as a party of 8 (inc wheelchair) We were told it would be upto an hour wait to get a table as was very busy. We were Ok with this and proceeded to buy drinks at the bar. We then sat outside and waited patiently (we did also have a 2 year old within our group) but we kept her occupied. The man who was taking names came out to see us after about 50 mins and just checked it was us who were the large group (with wheelchair) Then, after about an hour, another young man came out and said “sorry, it doesn’t look like you are getting a table for a good while yet as we can’t get you in” Obviously after an hour of waiting patiently and spending money over the bar this was rather annoying. We were then told we could place an order at the external Fish and chip window (anything from the menu) and take it away. We all agreed (as we were hungry and the child was getting tetchy) that we would do this So, we got our order together and went to the window. Annoyingly we were then told it would be at least another hour for food as it’s the same kitchen. Obviously we then left, as this was just unacceptable. So, in summary, poor customer service (not from the two chaps who were taking names but from the managers - pls do not take names for large groups if you can’t get them in. You are happy to then take our money over the bar and make people wait but then to not even have a table is beyond good. Sadly a sour taste left in our mouth from this poor experience.

Had takeaway fish and chips from the food window and very impressed. Gorgeous fish, not greasy at all. Beautiful chips perfectly cooked. Brilliant portion sizes and fast and friendly service. Drove ten minutes from our caravan site to pick up and so glad we did!

Appalling service from manager.The Plate of food served was not worth the money. Not the first time. But will be the last .

Wow! Fantastic food, fantastic friendly staff. We were staying at a campsite just up the road so had a drive down for some food and were not dissapointed. The menu is fantastic, caters for everything and everyone. We chose the peppercorn chicken & smash burger. Very large portions and excellent value for money. These guys even cater for the four legged friends, we would definitely be back again! Beer garden is lovely and pub appeared clean and tidy.

Food was ok not cheap but just about acceptable under the cost of living crisis, what really was a shock 1/2 lager Shandy plus 1/2 Lager one small house wine and Soda and a pint of Fosters no change from £20,talking London prices at £5 a pint personally pretty steep for a village pub, that alone would definitely stop me going back to this place.

They won’t make any changes to your meals and they are offensive, rude when I mentioned I’m allergic they just said they’d advise to order something else. I’m shocked at the management I had conversations with 2 of them and both said no changes to the menu. Really terrible customer service and attitude from the staff.

The food was very good for a pub meal, we both had steak and ale pie. The pie was absolutely delicious with loads of tender, lean steak. We ordered a side of vegetables, but the meal was so big we really didn't need them. The food was great for the price, but the service really let's the place down. As soon as you order anything you have to pay for it - before you even taste anything. Another customer asked for a box to take home some of her food and was charged 50p for a small Styrofoam box. The person who takes your order is very surly and at no point were we asked if the food was OK. The customer service really let's the place down.

Fantastic food and fantastic service, all the staff are really polite and food is great value for money. Great pub.

Stopped off at the Foxhound Inn. Fantastic meal at this lovely, clean, cosy Inn. Served by a lovely polite friendly staff member called Martin. Back home to Scotland tomorrow. Sadly a bit to far away to visit regularly but a lovely end to our fantastic holiday here in Yorkshire.

having visited before under different management I was looking forward to my trip. When I arrived I entered and the sign said wait here to be seated, so i did, numerous staff went by and ignored me, so looked through the different doors and through one there was another sign of wait here to be seated. here i eventually was seated. Why none of the staff which ignored me could not have said you are in the wrong place. I could have overlooked this if the rest of the trip went well but it did not. Once at the table I was told the only place to order drinks was the bar and the only place to order food was the table and someone would come round to take my order. Strange that it has to be segregated, can staff not take an order for both? Also there is a minimum charge for a card payment so should your drink be less than this it cant be added to the cost of your meal no you have to get something else or try to find enough cash. Most places will take your full order and payment then deliver it all to your table. After ordering the food came in a moderate time, I had a Giant Yorkshire pudding with Meat, Roast potatoes and peas. The meat and Yorkshire pudding were gorgeous however the potatoes and peas were very dry as though they had been cooked too long While checking the receipt I noticed I had been overcharged for a side, to check after my meal i went to where the menus were and checked the price and i was correct. i mentioned this to a member of staff and in a very dismissive manner he just said yes the menu is wrong, the correct price is what I paid. Given most people will look at the menu for the price to work out what they would have this is a very dirty trick to get more money from people, and deserves looking at by the fraud squad. If the menu is wrong then get it changed or at least tell the customer. I visited the loo before leaving and the facilities, these are very dated and in need of a renovation. Despite going to the loo i only just made it home (15 mins) and had to dash to the loo where I had to stay for half an hour. I would not visit again if they paid me, and i advice you don't either. I would rather go hungry than visit them again.

My favourite spot near the caravan at Filey and it never disappoints. 6 of us plus dog on a Friday night. Faultless food and service, you do wonder with such a big menu how it could be so good but it is. The monster breakfast defeated me (shared a lot out!!) but top quality as we all had around the table. The young lad serving us was excellent and a huge credit to your business.

We were recommended this superb restaurant by a friend. He said we would never get a better meal anywhere. Boy was he right! We could not get over the menu. Its so extensive but no not expensive. We were made to feel so welcome with our two dogs and meeted and greeted so warmly. Great start to any evening. Ordered our food after looking at the fantastic menu. It was brought in good time by the friendly staff. It was truly delicious. The Meat melted in your mouth and ALL the vegetables were freshly cooked to perfection. Best roast I have ever had and I have had a lot. We are not staying in this area but we are in Bridlington for another week and we are coming back here to try something else from their brilliant menu. Yes....I am so so tempted to have the roast again but need to stay strong, and try another dish. No breakfast for me that day because their deserts looked so good too. If I could score more I would. The staff and the food are 100% brilliant. Thank you everyone at The Foxhound Inn for making our holiday even more memorable.

What a find! We've passed this place loads of times and we had no idea what was behind the front facade. The menu is excellent from Asian to Italian to good old Yorkshire puddings, the portions where very generous and tasted amazing. The staff where very helpful and friendly.There is also a fish and chips take away. They even welcomed our 3 dog's. We will definitely be back as often as possible.

Such a shame that I’m leaving this review and as a pub owner/ cook myself, I understand that things sometimes go wrong. So this review isn’t being written lightly. However I do feel that this review deserves to be left. First of all, the waiting staff were lovely. Their level of customer service was fab and credit to them for having to deal with complaints and not having any back up from the owners. I know how hard that is, so to you lot out front, well done ❤️ The owners/ chefs. Appalling. Absolutely appalling. We were a party of 9 and 8 out of the 9 meals were fab. I ordered the chicken parmo, on the menu it comes with donner meat and pepperoni. I asked for mine to be just chicken, béchamel and cheese. When it came the chicken was so over cooked it was inedible. 3 other adults tried it and everyone agreed with me. So I quietly spoke to a waiter and asked if I could have another one. It was very tasty but the chicken wasn’t ok. I was advised by another member of staff that it was my fault because I hadn’t had the donner meat and pepperoni on it……. (Really???? 🤔) I explained that this really wasn’t true it just needed cooking less, and no amount of pepperoni or donner meat would change the consistency of that chicken. The lady was lovely and explained that this was how the chicken was cooked so I ordered something else. A burger. Same price as my inedible chicken. She was then sent out the kitchen 10 minutes later to say that they wouldn’t do my burger because there was nothing wrong with my chicken. Once again we explained that whilst it wasn’t her fault, unfortunately we do this job for a living and don’t complain for fun only when justified. She explained that the chef/cooks are the owners so we asked to speak to them. 10 minutes later another lady came back and apologised, said she’d sorted it and convinced the chef to do my burger. I told her to forget it and I’d have a refund instead. Which I did get. My issue is isn’t the over cooked chicken. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes and I get that. I make occasional mistakes in my kitchen. Everyone’s only human and the rest of the meals were amazing. My issue is with the owners/ chefs. When you make a mistake have the balls to hold your hands up. And if you aren’t willing to, at least have the balls to come out of the kitchen and argue your point. Your poor staff have to take flack for your mistakes and that’s not fair. The customer service we received was shocking, but only because the staff were messengers for behind the scenes. Hats off to all of your staff, they are trojans. Shame on you for not admitting your mistakes Look after and protect your staff. Sending them back and forth with messages to customers multiple times, with messages like we had today, puts your staff in the firing line and that is so unfair. Also quick tip, temperature probe your chicken. If you had, you would have known it was dry before you sent it out. Massive shame, I don’t get days out very often due to the nature of my business. I was so looking forward to a meal cooked by someone else. And as I said before, I understand more than anyone that mistakes sometimes happen. Just own up to them. Customers understand and you don’t look ridiculous. You can’t justify bone dry chicken. Ever.

Mouth watering excellence , great portions , beautiful surroundings , excellent service , it is very popular so there is a bit of a wait however enjoying a drink while waitings no biggy made for a great relaxing afternoon . Staff were friendly , if you have not been yet add to your list absolutely worth it . Be prepared to be full to the brim of tasty food .very clean inviting lovely place .
