Absolutely lovely pub - fire for the winter, big outdoors for the summer and cracking beer on. Would really recommend coming here!

By far the best pub I've ever had the pleasure of calling my local. Fantastic beers all year round for every mood, occasion and weather. Delicious pizza, tasty hot sauce and generous chips. Welcoming staff and friendly regulars. Tremendous value for money. Only negative is how dangerously close to home it is.

Yeti another great pub in Reading, proving for me that good pubs drive out the bad, raising the overall standard. For me, the music in the late afternoon was on the too loud side - my only negative.

The loveliest publican.. such a nice guy. This cosy pub has an amazing atmosphere. The food is comforting and really tasty. The hot buttered rum definitely got us into the festive spirit! Thank you F&H, can’t wait to come and visit you again soon xx

Friendly staff and good food. Wide selection of craft beers. No standard beers on tap though (no Fosters, Carlsberg, Heineken, Corona, Amstel, Peroni).

Really good real ale pub. Best one in Caversham IMHO after the demise of the Prince of Wales. Love Love Love the F&H - ever changing selection of memorable beers - some stay with you. Also try the Foxy Fries before you die 😀

Llegué aquí con un par de amigos justo después de las 10 de la noche de un lunes. Después de esperar en el bar vacío durante varios minutos un barman apareció brevemente para anunciar "Hemos dejado de servir" y luego desapareció rápidamente dejándonos mirándonos con asombro. No hay explicación ni disculpa. Decepcionante, ya que había traído específicamente a mis amigos aquí, ya que eran de fuera de la ciudad. Este es Reading CAMRA's Pub del Año 2024 . Quizás el jurado necesite dar un poco más de consideración a la experiencia del cliente en lugar de cuántas ventas reales tiene un pub.

With very good reason, CamRa Reading’s pub of the year. A cut above the competition in terms of cask and keg selection, whilst maintaining a local’s demeanour. Didn’t try the food (Pizzas and Wings). But beer rules here and it’s all fantastic.

Great range of beers, well kept. The staff are happy to offer a little taste if there's a beer you're unfamiliar with. If you like good bets, particularly IPAs then give them a go.

It's probably the best pub in Reading, the food is fantastic, service from the staff is quality too. But the beer selection, it's the best, always something fun and new to try as always a safe option if you're not adventurous.

Cualquier persona que viaje a Reading debe cruzar el Támesis y visitar el Fox and Hounds en Caversham. Los propietarios son entusiastas dedicados de la Real Ale, y siempre abasteciendo las mejores cervezas disponibles. Hay una gran selección en Fox and Hounds. También hay un bar completo para cócteles y asientos amplios, dentro y fuera. El personal es maravilloso, y la clientela local es amable y acogedor con todos. Muy agradable para perros, con bocadillos y cuencos de agua. Pizza horneada de piedra fresca y un menú de aperitivos disponibles. La música en vivo y los eventos caritativos regulares aparecen en su calendario. Este es realmente solo un hermoso pub con excelentes vibraciones.

Fue invitado a visitar este pub el 6 de julio para levantar una copa por nuestro buen amigo que había fallecido y también para ver el partido de fútbol Inglaterra - Suiza Eurocopa Todo parecía agradable, todos disfrutando de una buena puesta al día mientras probamos diferentes cervezas en oferta, cuando uno de nuestros lotes había traído algo de comida de fuera El casero que parecía borracho como lo habíamos visto beber en exceso detrás de la barra vino y nos dijo que esto no estaba permitido ya que sirven comida a la que nos disculpamos con razón Pero él no se iba continuamente jurándonos, a lo que intenté explicar que había hecho su punto de vista y no había necesidad de usar ese tipo de lenguaje, pero eso parecía empeorar las cosas con él agachándose señalándome con el dedo en la cara continuando jurando y decidido a obtener la última palabra en esto fue delante de todos sus clientes que estaban disfrutando del partido Finalmente tuve suficiente y le devolví la palabra, momento en el que me pidieron agresivamente que me fuera, lo que para entonces estaba más que feliz de Dos de nuestra fiesta que tuvieron la decencia de seguirme fuera de allí y luego nos dirigimos a la corona donde pudimos ver el resto del partido en un ambiente normal y agradable Las dos estrellas generosas que he dado a este lugar son para el resto del personal del bar que no puedo entender cómo trabajan bajo este hombre y la buena gama de cervezas que tengo para probar Pero hay varios otros pubs en la zona con el mismo y sin este nivel de grosería para ir con él

Fantastic pub with excellent range of beers and food. Modern decor but still feels traditional.

Not impressed at all !. Booked a table for a birthday dinner, went to the bar to order food to be told that the kitchen had already closed. Apparently the chef has had a busy day. Sorry, wont be coming back. On the plus side went to The Last Crumb 5 minutes away-Delicious.

Never been but wondered how true this tweet was?

I am usually a big fan of The Fox and Hounds and enjoy an evening there with friends many times a month however on my last trip there I was thoroughly disappointed with the behaviour of the owner who seemed quite obviously drunk and aggressive to customers. My friends and I witnessed him kick out a pair of seemingly peaceful customers trying to enjoy a drink and even go to push one of them as they left! I was rather shocked by this behaviour and it really ruined my evening for me. My friends and I will definitely be choosing The Last Crumb over The Fox next time we head to Caversham for an evening pint - this behaviour is just not acceptable!

Every time I come here some aspect of the service annoys me. I leave it a while come back and a similar thing happens.

STAFF so important and so nice to see people who love their jobs. GREAT vibe to the place as well. And a great ale selection. Will definitely be back soon

Simply this - the best pub in Reading and Caversham. Never had a single bad experience, beer is delicious, pizza is delicious, the staff is super friendly, and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommended!

Great place to have some beers and good pizza

This was my first port of call when I arrived in Reading. A nice short walk from the train station, over the bridge and through the field. Excellent craft beer pub with lots of choice. Not too many local brews to choose from though. Food is served and it seems very family/dog friendly early on in the day.

The manager and his wife are very rude, they don't resolve problems by talking they just swear/shout and assume instead! I drank in this pub many years ago and it was a lovely pub it's a shame about the management.

Lived round the corner from it, famous for John Lennon and Paul McCartney staying there 1960s.

If I could give no stars I would! My 18 year old daughter visited earlier this evening with some friends. When she bought their drinks to the table the landlord came over and aggressively and very publicly accused her of adding her own alcohol from her bag! She was shocked and said she hadn’t and that he could check her bag (an open school bag full of folders and books) but he refused and continued to berate her very loudly. At no time was she given the opportunity to prove that she wasn’t doing this and had purchased ‘proper drinks’ from the bar, which he could have checked by simply asking his staff. His behaviour was rude, unpleasant and intimidating! I should add that my daughter has no issue at all with being asked and fully appreciates that it could have been an issue that he had with people in the past, but it was the manner in which it was done! Very bad form!

After three weeks in London, I had the costliest pints of my trip here--nearly £8--which surprised me. To be fair, my two pints of the Three Day Vacation Gose by Double Barrelled were also among the best I'd drunk in that time--so I guess it's a speciality beer, hence the price. I'd been craving something sour, and this one fit the bill. Disconcertingly, it looked like a pint of cloudy orange squash, because--as the informative barman checked for me--it contains orange zest, as well as lime and other glow ups. Reminded me of the classic sour beers. I don't like flavoured beers if they're sweetened by syrups; but flavouring works for me if a beer is tart. Considering how much I enjoyed this beaut, I felt it worth the money. Drinking cheap beers I don't enjoy is the waste of money. Though I visit Reading a lot, it was my first time in this pub, as it's a bit off my normal track. However, now I've tried it, I'm sure I'll go back repeatedly, because to my surprise it boasts one of the best selections of drinks in the town--up there with the likes of the Alehouse, the Nag's Head, and the Castle Tap. Which is saying something. Unfortunately, when I dropped in it was totally empty, so I can't judge what it's like for atmosphere. Thing is, I'm perfectly happy drinking on my own but tend to start feeling the futility of life when I'm the one and only person drinking in an entire pub, because then I can hear my own thoughts

Nice and friendly. Nice range of drinks available, and although I didn't eat here, the pizzas looked nice. Also dog friendly and they showed the sport on an outside TV.

More of a drinking pup than an eating pub although I must admit their pizza was quite tasty. Bar staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They have many different interesting kinds of beers.

Superperb range of Ales - I like 'Good old boy' but not available. My guest wanted a a soda water but it was not available - unfortunate but strange becausevit is a common mixer.

Nice, cozy place, lots of draft beer and beer options, clean bathroom. There is also a dart game available to customers, which guarantees a lot of fun. It also has a large open space, with sofas and chairs. I recommend visiting, we had a lot of fun there!

Stop of after a long days work to have pint. The atmosphere was great and the service even better.

A favourite local with a great selection of beers, ciders & more, lovely friendly bar team, new chef offering some extremely tasty fair & since the beer garden got extended & has a roof & fairy lights, even better a venue. Look out for regular beer festivals & pop up food vendors too 🥂

Nice pub. Outside area is great. Inside less so. Really good selection of beers... But it is expensive for Reading craft prices, and the staff although friendly, don't seem that knowledgeable on the beer they serve.
