I didn’t think I’d find chips as good as my mums - but these were pretty damn close. And the fish was beautiful, white and flaky. Perfectly cooked.

Always fabulous quality fish and chips!Helped by being served in a cardboard box, which keeps them warm. It's not the cheapest,but I don't mind paying more for excellent quality.

Excellent fish and chips, burgers, chicken etc served by really friendly staff. We normally go for the lite-bite meal which is a smaller fish and chips. Still satisfies the hungriest amongst us and is good value for money. Highly recommended if you are in the area

Please check your order before you leave this chippy, I left got home to find a meal missing, had to drive back and they didn’t even apologise 👎🏼

Got fish and chips haddock was very dry and over cooked chips wasn't much better

We had Fish ,Chips and mushy peas and also the homemade tartar sauce (which we loved) The food was absolutely amazing the fish was cooked to.perfection and the chips were perfect, the whole meal was 100% the staff were great and chatty, we travelled from Derby after seeing the food on TV and it was well worth the journey. See you again Fosters Fish and Chip shop you're the best.

We visited from Derby and will make the journey again. The fish was beautiful the chips were the nicest we have ever had and the staff were fab . We also had our 14year old doggie with us who enjoyed her sausage very much. A massive Thank you.

I found it quite off putting that one member of staff kept coughing in to her hands She did wear gloves but didn’t change them before preparing food If she had served me I would have had to say something to her I was served by someone different who just about managed to grunt at me Portion sizes have gone down as has the quality of service, such a shame

I love fosters and have used it for years but CHRIST the price has gone through the roof!! £30 for a tray for 2? That’s absolutely outrageous

£14 for the smallest fish and chips I have ever seen, I went as far as checking the bag to see if half of it had fallen out.

Ordered a piri piri takeaway box and it was not only tiny but cold total rip off portion size for what is charged

Ordered a takeaway for delivery for my wife & I. My wife’s meal was fine however I ordered the chicken Piri Piri box which was tiny and tasteless and cold !!!!!!. The portion size did not reflect the price at all it was more like a cheap starter. To add insult to injury there were no chips with it despite it clearly stating on the menu it included a handful of chips. I live close to this chippy but I would never go again! Tried to call the number to let them know my issues but got an answer machine instead so not only was the food second rate and minuscule portions but I couldn’t even make them aware of the problems, absolute joke !!!!!!

Best fish and chips in the whole of England. It’s worth paying a bit extra to get those beautiful chips soaked in the wonderful fats, that they use and the fresh cod. which drips off the end of your tongue. The staff are always amazing they’re up there and lighthearted and they’ve always got a smile for you. All very hard-working guys who run that place. I love Fosters fish and chip shop and go there three times a week. I love the fish. Great fish and chips with reasonable service. The food was incredibly tasty but did take longer than expected to prepare given I was the only customer in the shop at the time. Pricing was reasonable given the location and staff were polite and helpful.

Chips are good but listen - I’m gonna need you to wear gloves when serving people food. Went tonight and the man flicked a bit of chip from the counter with his bare hands into my chip box.. I have massive ocd and that to me is so disgusting. I’ve managed to convince myself that I picked it out and it’s okay but seriously - wear gloves. And don’t do stuff like that with peoples food😭woman at the till was so lovely though.

It's our nearest chippy 5miles will have to travel further from now on they missed loads of the order had to go all the way back I'm sure you can guess how nice they weren't after 30 mins in the oven and some people don't like lemon staff training needed

Very disappointed. We ordered for delivery which was passed onto deliveries. The meal was late arriving, was not piping hot, soggy chips and batter. Not what we’d come to expect from Fosters. Maybe they’re no longer interested in home deliveries which they used to do themselves?

Frequent visitors to Fosters quality always good but portion size can vary which sometimes makes it not worth it. Not a fan of the street food side.

All gone downhill. From being the indisputable King of Fish and Chips this place is now reduced to the lowest. First they dropped inside eating. Goodness know why as they have the space and not everyone likes the soggy and steamed results of opening at home. Then add to this the many comments of pathetic sizes served up. Offer quality and you get profit. Offer rip-offs and you reap what you sow. Bye bye Fosters.

Visit here in 2019-2020 and it was absolutely gorgeous. The fish are massive. I thought it was expensive at first but that's compared to my area. But once you start eating the food. My god its one of the best chippys I've been to.

Lite bite cod potion was just right for my appetite ( plus a few scraps ! ).

Went to this chippy twice after a recent visit to the town. I have to say that these are without doubt the best chips that I have had from a chippy in the last 5 years. They were outstanding. Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere.

Used to be a family favorite after a walk around the Edge . Been three times in the last month. Prices have always been high but the quality of the food and service more than made up for it . My last three visits have been consistently poor . Pies that are over cooked, very small portions of chips, fish were tiny, batter much to thick and uncooked . Shame as I used to rave over how good it was .

What a disappointing experience when we visited Alderley Edge. As it was a lovely evening and the bars were vibrant, we decided to cancel our restaurant booking. Instead opting for a quick bite while soaking up the sun and general vibe. Two portions of chips, one small curry sauce and one small gravy…. Almost £10! These are going to be good, right? Wrong. Frozen chips in the fryer. Small portions. The owners need to travel out to a decent chippy and take some notes.

We ordered through Deliveroo and received fantastic and efficient service. The staff are lovely and the food delicious - highly recommend!

Completely average food at a rather aggressive price. The fellas in here are usually fairly equine too when it comes to metaphorical face length.

Lite bite for my 80 Yr old dad, he managed it all! I had cod and chips and it was so good. Chips are my kinda chips. Well worth it.

Tonight we called for two hungry loaded Thai chips , fish and chips , chips and curry . They managed to forget to put chips in the bag !! The hungry loaded chips served in a lite bite box were a very small portion, we returned and complained and were told they come in a small box now , at £9 for that portion we won’t be having them again . We have had them several times in the past and portions were excellent. Tonight was a very very poor show .

We had our Harvest Supper for 47 people at our Church. The fish, chips & peas were delivered on time, piping hot and delicious. Generous portion, the batter was light and the fish so fresh, delicious mushy peas and the chips perfect. Thank you for making the night a huge success. Highly recommend.

Fosters used to be our favourite fish & chip shop however it has definitely gone way downhill. Two large fish but soaked in oil, batter very soggy and fish not fresh. Very few chips too and these were equally oily and soggy. Won’t be back. Shame.

Completely terrible delivery service. Confusing on line and then doesn’t turn up so be prepared to get it yourself as no one answers the phone ….. ever. Approach with extreme caution!

Incredible......great chip shop. Izzy and Mags were really welcoming from the moment we walked in, and very accommodating. They had run out of breadcakes, so were happy to do bread and butter for us. The fish was freshly battered and the chips lovely. I had a cheese and onion pie which was one of the nicest I've had. Great shop, fantastic staff, gorgeous food and very reasonably priced. Thanks Mags and Izzy.....glad we came from Sheffield and we will be back 😀

Greasy and overpriced. We then had stomach ache for the rest of the day all the way till into the next day. It’s such a shame how much this place has gone downhill. It used to be great, even the curry sauce isn’t the same anymore.

The fish should be packed individualy, it was a little greasy. Fish batter wasn't very crispy. Impressed how quick it got to us, maybe that was the problem.

What happened? This used to be one of the few fish and chippies around worth bothering with. Not anymore. Small , dry fish. Greasy chips that even worse had that old oil taste. I suspect there has been a change of ownership. Winning formula gone. Shame.

Ordered for delivery at 6:29pm, phone call at 7:15pm advising the order will be another 20 mins due to delivery issues. Not actually delivered until 8:15pm. Absolute shambles and will not be ordering from Fosters again

The best fish and chips I've probably ever had! Tasted other dishes from here too.... Steak pie, battered sausages and mushy peas were unbelievable! I could eat here every night. The staff were fast, friendly and very efficient in their service. Highly recommend this take out.

Was very disappointed with the fish and chips they are normally lovely we recommend it to people not anymore chips very fatty fish nothing special the girl serving and cooking chips had nail varnish on 🙁☹️

This was the worst fish and chips that we have ever eaten.The chips were just a big mushy mound, broken and soggy. The fish was wet and the batter wasn't crunchy For all those reasons I give you zero star but unfortunately there is no other options so I gave you 1star

Very tasty meal of fish chips and peas A real treat

Used to go here regularly as it was great. Last month at 12pm on a Saturday the chips were so bad I thought they must have been the previous day's batch. Soggy and massively overcooked. Tried a few weeks later, further on in the lunch rush to avoid this, but it was exactly the same. Need to find somewhere new.

Unfortunately chips were soggy and portion sizes were not consistent. Small fish was tiny! Prices have increased lately and no longer represent good value. Almost £10 for cod & chips is way overpriced when quality is not great.

Usually the chips are great but last night the few I ate were soggy and overdone like they were old chips. I threw most away. Very disappointed

I always love Fosters but today the chips weren't to my liking. I found them abit greasy and soggy. The fish was excellent and enjoyed the curry sauce. I always find the staff very friendly and happy to talk about the menus etc

Recently moved to Alderley and was especially looking forward to fish and chips from Fosters. I have been three times in the last six weeks and I must say I have enjoyed the food each time. Is there room for improvement? Well yes there is....

Went at 8.30pm and had 2cod and chips used to 5 star but this time fish greasy batter and something chips mediocre not usual high standards.

I ordered fish and chips for me and my neighbour and we spent £27 and had it delivered from fosters in alderley edge. On arrival the chips looked like they had been heated up from last week luke warm and awful. The fish was luke...

Wow wow wow what a gorgeous chip shop. Came because of the good reviews and they were not wrong. The chips are big and juicy, then mushy peas were spot on and the sausage was also very nice. Good portions, clean shop and friendly staff. 10/10 👌🏻

Just spent 15 quid on large fish chips and peas and gravy for me and my wife in Alderley Edge...the chips were greasy placid and nearly rancid....could I be bothered driving back and complaining ...no ...dont like writing reviews but they were dreadful...you only have to cook nice chips its not hard !!!!

Best in North West. Very good quality fish and the chips are really good - not soggy as in some places. Expect long queues at peak times.

If you order pie, chips and gravy they should give you enough gravy to cover the pie and chips especially given the prices. Or they should state; gravy covers 1/3 of chips.

Terrible food and horrible service on our last visit. Fosters used to be good but it's gone down hill recently. The service was horrible, the lady with glasses behind the counter was shouting at customers for no reason and then started arguing with another member...

The onion pie was too delicious and loved the ambience too!

We used to go to this chip shop nearly every week but we think it has dropped it's standard , we have gone there on the last three occasion's and there fish & chips are nothing like they used to be in fact we threw...

Top class fish and chips with great choices. As pensioners we particularly like the lite bite option - fantastic value. Friendly service too. The queues tell you all you need to know about how good it is!
