Food & Liquor at Danesbury House in Worcester

First visit to this place for food and had pretty high expectations for a seafood restaurant in the centre of Worcester, but I was really let down by my food and left feeling very unsatisfied. I went for the prawn roll, which on the menu looked really lovely but it came on a starter plate, in a roll with a few prawns and iceberg lettuce. Compared to others in my group whose food was presented amazingly. Mine looked and felt so silly in comparison, I had to laugh. As well as this the service was shocking, we had empty glasses on our table throughout our meal and nobody asked if we wanted anymore. The waitress did keep coming in our section, looking over at the section and left again not reading customers at all. Overall I left the restaurant very disappointed and still hungry.

Second visit to this restaurant and again, the food did not disappoint. Prices had gone up but the 2 course set menu was still well worth it. We were spoilt for choice so probably need to return again soon.

Food, service and atmosphere were superb. Seafood platter was delicious, prawn smash burger was also delicious. Great selection of wines and service was excellent

Late lunch on a Friday afternoon with grandchildren. Food and service were excellent. One of us ate off the set menu with code cheeks and sea bream and the other had the dressed crab and both proved to be excellent choices. Kids ate a main course for free which added to making the visit a little less expensive. Nice tight winelist and the Verdejo / SB was a good choice.

We went here for our wedding anniversary, as our previous experience had been really good. Well, I don’t know what’s changed, but the fall from grace is nothing short of calamitous. Just terrible food. I honestly think you’d struggle to find worse in Worcester, especially for the price

Have eaten here for lunch on a number of occasions which have all been excellent. So when the email came through for this event and we had heard good things about the night decided to book. We were not disappointed, from start to finish the meal was superb. A good choice and balance of dishes with sides were all presented nicely. The service as always from front of house and staff was excellent There was no rush to finish and the atmosphere of the restaurant was great. An excellent evening all round and will definitely go again

The Sunday roast was not bad. However. We asked for a kids menu and we were given this and ordered the avocado and toast as it said in the menu served until 2pm. But when it arrived, we had two burnt pieces of bruschetta with half n avocado for £7. I wouldn’t feed it to my dog let alone my child. On top of it, not professional tbe manager shouting to his staff, tell the kitchen no kids breakfast and no kids menu. It was very concerning, to have someone raise their voice right next to you, when you have ordered a kids meal. It was supposed to be a Father’s Day celebration. Would I go again, hell No! Not for burnt toast and a manager yelling regarding something you ordered from a menu. It was meant to be a celebration, my kid walked out not eating any burnt toast. Not worth it if we cannot enjoy as a family.

Had a table booked on a Wednesday evening, arrived slightly late which was no issue with staff and was promptly shown to our table, the table was small and in between 2 other larger tables, we asked to move and again the server had no problems finding us a quieter spot. Drinks order was soon taken and drinks arrived quickly, we chose to order a selection of small plates to share. As soon as we ordered we popped out for a cigarette and before we had even finished a server came to tell us the food was ready. The turn around of this did make us feel a bit rushed and also dubious about the freshness of the food. The oysters were fantastic and very good value for money, nicely presented and tasted very fresh. The octopus skewers were cooked well and the ketchup they came with was nice, maybe slightly heavy handed with the chorizo on the skewer as slightly took away from the octopus. We were really excited to try the lamb crumpet as it read really well on the menu, the lamb itself was tasty and well cooked, although the dish itself was slightly lacking in texture, we thought that if the crumpet was toasted slightly more that wouldn’t have been a problem. The cod cheeks were a huge disappointment, my partner has never tried them before and being a personal favourite of mine I was looking forward to seeing her reaction. The cod cheeks were cooked in a very thick buttermilk batter which completely ruined the cod itself, totally overcooked to the point of being chewy which is a first for me, the rest of the dish was also very lack luster and overall just a bad plate of food. The smoked mackerel pate was disappointing too. It wasn’t really a pate, its was smoked mackerel mixed into crème frais, just didn’t come as described on the menu, it was under seasoned and the samphire on top was a bit old and barky too. The sourdough was nice on the side though. The gun powder potatoes were average, the flavour from the sauce was nice but as the potatoes were left whole the sauce didn’t marry well with them. The service was way to much, clearly lack of communication with the servers, we had atleast ten check ups from 4 different members of staff throughout the time we were there and even after paying the bill had someone come to take it again shortly after The meal and drinks were very reasonably priced due to the oysters and glass of wine offer and the venue itself is very nice. Overall it was a slightly disappointing experience for our first time at food and liquor, but we do plan to return at some point in the future to try the market fish as some of the fish we had was cooked and prepared well.

Not just a fabulous place from the outside, but a wonderful evening. Greeted with a smile and a bottle of water service quick and friendly Guest ale delicious Food amazing! We had small plates that were all spot on tasty and delicious A fantastic meal and experience Unfortunately I can’t download the photo of the food. We couldn’t eat it all unfortunately!!

Great location and great ambience with friendly efficient staff. Our. Son was home for 24 hours so decided to book a last minute dinner out. We’d heard good reports for this place We weren’t disappointed. A very innovative menu and it invited us to order more than ordinarily three people would do. Squid bolognese to start was one such temptation. It was excellent. Squid and chorizo kebabs. So many options. Cod cheeks deep fried in crispy crumb. Mains were also great. A salmon/ seafood risotto; a fabulous rib-eye and venison shoulder braised. Everything was perfect Will definitely return 🥂

I cant rate our experience at Food&Liquor highly enough! I booked a meal for 30 of us to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday and everything was exceptional. Because of our numbers, we were given the whole room upstairs which was beautifully set out. There was also a large balcony area too, so plenty of room which was good because we had a few kids with us too. The food to a plate was absolutely delicious! Every item on the menu was ordered and everyone i asked said they were very happy with their meal. I ordered the Pork Belly, which is always a risk as so many places can never get it right. But this was perfect! Succulent meat and crispy crackling and very nicely seasoned with nice tasty veg. Lastly the staff... I must thank Justin and the young lady (im sorry, i didn't get her name) who looked after us. Every need was catered for with a smile and you helped make my daughters birthday very special indeed. I'll definitely be back soon :)

Oh my the worcester butter was amazing! I had dinner here with friends and really liked the style and seating. The menu is really good and offers plenty of choice. The worcester butter & bread was a starter and it was really very good. I had the chicken on flatbread, it was ok but my friends mains looked much nicer - totally a personal preference. Amazing. Again. We were meant to go NYE but we had to rebook. Tonight (Saturday) we went at 5pm. Nice and quiet. Service was fast. Friendly and professional as ever. Food was beautiful. We visited early evening for a pre-theatre supper so neither the staff or the kitchen were under any pressure however this should not in any way detract from a delightful experience. Welcomed upon arrival, water swiftly on the table, pleasant chit-chat from all the staff who were universally engaging and knowledgeable - the star was definitely the food which was cooked to perfection - just so tasty and well presented. We visited Food&Liquor in Worcester for a spur of the moment lunch The food was fabulous, the service was also fabulous, our waitress was lovely We had two dogs with us who they accommodated. They bought a water bowl for them and welcomed them We had Mackerel pate, cod cheeks for starters. My son and his friend came today (7.1.2024) he purchased a £24 cocktail pitcher to share. Had to leave earlier than planned, through unforeseen circumstances. Cocktail pitcher was hardly touched and on request, the bar person put the cocktail into 2 small disposable coffee cups, half filled with ice. What happened to the rest of this expensive cocktail? We feel very disappointed and ripped off. Tried to ring numerous times to resolve but no one answers!

Received a warm welcome and directed to our table, chose from the small menu whilst sipping a bottle of nytimber. Oysters we’re excellent as always , waited a long time for our mains, I shared the lamb platter which was good but was only warm, Sadly my choice of dessert was unavailable and second choice wasn’t as described, disappointing

Booked a table for dinner having visited several years ago whilst under previous ownership. Welcome was friendly and we were shown to our table and ordered drinks. Menu was slightly limited, but still plenty to choose from - we noticed a couple of other tables seemed to have an alternative menu also, but this wasn't a problem for us. I took a recommendation from the waitress (I often ask) and had the Tandoori Cod - the flavour in the sauce was just superb - so much so, that I asked for some extra bread to mop it up at the end. Overall, an excellent meal -- not cheap, but not outrageous either. We will return.

We were a large group , we booked the upstairs room which also has a bar area for our event . The welcome cocktails were delicious & the team were very friendly & helpful . The food was very good , especially considering 30 starters / mains & desserts came out once . Each was well cooked & well presented & everyone’s order was correct. We went this lunch time with family who had recommended Food and Liquor. The decor inside was first class - modern and classy, and we sat initially in the lounge bar area. Phoebe was our server from the outset and she was excellent The food was excellent and we shall definitely return for an evening meal.
