I ordered a cheese and onion toastie and as you can see, it was served having just glanced at a toaster - with raw onion, unmelted cheese and untoasted bread. The lettuce had not been washed properly and had mud on it. This cost approx £10 and I wish I’d skipped lunch instead of choosing to eat here.

Good quality food with plenty of flavour - the high quality pastries are to die for! Excellent coffee and tea, and loads of other drink choices. Plenty of seating inside and out. Clean and well-maintained. Friendly staff who are very polite and helpful, and this is highlighted by the large proportion of market stallholders and local regulars who frequent it. This is a market cafe with style, but if they are very busy there can be a slowdown in service because they have a tiny kitchen - but it's always worth waiting for!!

Lovely find hidden within the market area straight across from Primark. Lovely cooked breakfast veggie and non veggie option. Portions could be bigger we needed to order extra toast to fill us up. Tea for two was lovely and strong with a small pot of hot water to top up the tea pot. Lots of inside seating and some outside.

We were in Truro and fancied a break from shopping. So after walking around the market, we decided on Fodder's. I must say the full English breakfast was brilliant. This also came with Hog's pudding. We used to come to Fodders as a family for shopping trips many years ago and haven't been for a long time due to Covid. When heading to Truro for Christmas shopping I checked the reviews first and to see it was still open etc, I was disappointed to see a couple of recent ones which didn't sound great. We thought about going somewhere else, but on the day we were last minute and just popped in there for a pit stop lunch. Thank goodness we did! It was lovely food and the service was so friendly, we felt really welcomed and had a couple of lovely sandwiches and drinks. Just what we were looking for! Thank you so much for a lovely quick lunch

There is no doubt that this is the most disappointing food and service we have ever experienced. Their warm, fake frappe was bland, awful, and tasteless, I believe it was dishwater covered in warm squirty cream disguised as a frappe. The cardboard-like toast and meagre ham and cheese were accompanied by an unappealing limp grated excuse of a salad, with uncooked couscous next to it. This salad was also accompanied by about three cardboard-like stale crisps. The bill for three fake frappes and one toasted cardboard sandwich came to £20.00. There was a sticky table, grubby cushions, and unwelcoming staff. I am astonished that these premises have not been closed down by Health and Safety. Before the food arrived, an unkempt, sulky woman barked loudly asking us how we were paying, cash or cards. Her expression was serious, her mannerisms severe, and her eyes wide as she waited for an answer in an impatient manner whilst sweat glistened off her face. my husband and I felt quite intimidated. overpriced, bad food, bad customer service and dirty premises. RUDE RUDE RUDE staff.

After ordering lunch and a cake and coffee i then asked for a hot water and was told that i would be charged 95p for it. We had spent £20 on our two toasties, coffee and a slice of cake. Both had milkshakes too (kids at heart!) which were great and super bubbly. Really great lunch and, despite the grumbles of other posts on here, we thought a very reasonable price for lovely quality food. The only reason to drop a star is that the service was very slightly lacking. Although we thought this was odd at the time, we paid for two scones with jam and cream and two teas separately hoping that it would be worth the extra cost. I first went to Fodders over twenty years ago. It doesn't change in order to follow fashion - you won't find anything here that's been spiralized. The menu is simple, the food wholesome and freshly made and the portions are generous. It's not a smart modern place. Oh dear. This place used to have a good reputation on back in the day which is why we popped in for lunch with the kids. The toasted sandwich was £6.95 but turned out to be a standard sandwich toasted, nothing more special and the 'act' of toasting appears to cost an additional £3 on the sandwich price. The garnish with the toastie very unappealing, several pieces of brown lettuce and cucumber and tomato that was very dried out and wrinkly. My teapot spout was missing, not clipped, missing. The service wasn't inspiring either, we came with kids but no high chair offered even after we asked for one on arrival, no straws offered even though they were on the counter, no extra plate or glasses usual thing you offer when kids share an adult lunch. In short, poor over priced food and staff that could do a lot better.

Walking through Truro we became hungry and literally walked into this place. What attracted us was the crab sandwich and let it be said up front, they were gorgeous. In addition we had a mushroom with bread dish, chicken burger with red onion marmelade and a lemon and thyme chicken salad. The dishes took their time, but once your teeth were in them you understand why. All is handmade and quality takes time.Portions are adequate for a good lunch and the service was very swift and kind.We finished off with a coffee and I am beginning to learn that good and strong coffee and England does not go well in hand. It was simply so thin, that you could almost see the bottom of the cup. But the meals were excellent.

Went in today for a toasted sandwich, as have previously enjoyed the clam atmosphere and tasty sandwiches and was really craving a toastie.Although the sandwich was as lovely as normal the staff in the cafe downstairs were unorganised and moaning about each other behind backs. Very clearly so that I could hear. They were moaning about not knowing what orders had been done and the lack of clarity as to what was being ordered as they write all orders on a whiteboard and rub off when done. While one of the waitresses was outside the other 2 members of staff were moaning about her. And when my sandwich finally came out from the kitchen both the staff said they didn't know where it was going so were waiting for the other to come back. In the end I told them it was for me as I didn't want it going cold.I certainly wont be rushing back as felt really uncomfortable which is a shame!

An old favourite from previous visits to Truro, this quiet establishment serves both hot dishes and salads together with home made cakes. An excellent place to recharge your batteries after shopping.

Fodders is a regular haunt for my family and I. They offer delicious, home-cooked food that appeals to the whole family, yet I get to smile inside knowing the kids have eaten healthily. Steve and his wife are always keen to chat and we love the quirky surroundings. There are toys to play with if your children need them. All this right in the heart of town. Perfect!

I love Fodders. Hubby and I have been dropping in here for years, and thank deity it never changes. For us it is so nice to have a vegetarian MENU instead of an option! But this isn't purely a vegetarian restaurant. There are meat options! (Now they know how we usually feel...) The salads are about as far away from a lettuce leaf, cucumber slice and half a tomato as you can get. Order the bowl of mixed salad if you have a smallish appetite, and either the nut roast with salad or the quiche with salad if you have a large one. If you've still room for a pudding afterwards, let me know what they're like...There's plenty of choice for drinks, and a counter full of cakes and puddings - I always spot the mountainous lemon meringue pie and really must try it one day. Dogs are also welcome here, so if you are in town with your pooch, you know where to go! There is also (more recently added) a downstairs cafe/tea-room with outside seating, although the menu from upstairs still applies here. The toilets are located in the upstairs part, in case anyone wonders.

I love this café, their Jacket potatoes are superb, the salad bowl is the best anywhere, great choice of desserts (lemon meringue is Mum's favourite) and the coffee is great too. I cannot understand why this café is not No 1 in Truro nobody else comes close to supplying the quality of food you get here. We love it and always pop in when in Truro, we will be there on Tuesday and look forward to our usual sublime prawn jacket.

Visiting Truro, not far from M&S and tucked away in a little courtyard, we came across Fodders looking for a light lunch.Up the stairs and found a clean, airy and light restaurant with a lovely welcome.A good choice of food and drinks on offer. Lentil and veg' soup was great and so was the scone and clotted cream. We were looked after by a lovely waitress who was very helpful and attentive.Just what we needed to rest and refuel. Thanks.

decided to eat here but a poor choice. £7 for a toasted sandwich on reflection is a rip off. Not much salad garnish with it and a very long wait for a toasted sandwich. The sandwich was not too bad but cant really go wrong with toasted cheese ham and cheese anyway. Far better and much cheaper alternatives nearby. no toilet facilities either.

This place has two parts tea room down stairs and cafe style upstairs located in court yard next to market off lemon quay. The tea room for me is not exceptional adequate for a cuppa. However upstairs is perfect for a hearty or light lunch this place is not open at night . Food is of good quality cooked on site no unzip a bag and microwave Prices are reasonable , access is via steep wooden steps only team room is on level ground . A must if you are a veggy

I did try to eat here today but couldn't as I am on a very strict diet and not allowed any salad dressing. Unfortunately ALL their salad is pre-dressed and no offer was forth coming to make anything without it. Found another establishment who were much more adaptable to customers dietery requirements.

This place is tucked away and serves coffee and cakes downstairs with the upstairs accessible for the middle of the day for lunches. The food is healthy and individually prepared, good sized jacket potatoes with chicken in a korma type sauce, excellent quiche and mixed salad, flapjacks are a good size.Do a variety of coffee drinks including a dark mocha and a white mocha.Lunchtime was busy with about 6 tables all arriving at once, but service was friendly despite the rush.

I have been eating lunch at Fodders since I moved to Cornwall 20 years ago, and really enjoy the vegetarian dishes they offer, they also offer gluten free sandwiches which is often a problem in other cafes and restaurants where, if you are a coeliac, it can be almost impossible to get lunch on the move. They also do excellent salads and have a huge choice of unusual drinks other than coffee and teas. They cater for all tastes but because they are slightly hidden from the main area of town, a lot of people I have taken there were unaware of this hidden gem. I was really surprised to hear about a reviewer finding them unfriendly as I usually eat in the restaurant upstairs and find the husband and wife owners exceptionally welcoming.

We used to love popping in here when we were in Truro, you would be lucky to get a seat but now it’s take your pick. In a nutshell the place has lost its soul.

Festive Afternoon Tea this afternoon was very disappointing. It is clearly a stop gap to keep income trickling in between Sunday lunch and evening dinner service. The biggest issue is with the service, very inattentive, unconcerned staff not in the slightest bit interested in providing a professional level of attention. The afternoon tea was acceptable but not exactly delightful let alone memorable or to be recommend to others. Delightful setting with the hotel beautifully appointed and well decorated for Christmas, just a pity the staff were not switched on at all. Management at fault and it would appear no investment made in staff training.

For a spot of lunch, my wife and two children decided to eat here. Never again. We settled on the beef style kebabs (on a skewer). With rice. The beef was tough, tastless, rough and badly cooked. I was a butcher, I should know! Rice was microwaved but still undercooked! The salad that came with it was soggy, rotten and floppy. The best part of the meal was the kids fish goujons. We spent 70 quid (including drinks) on some of the worst food I've eaten.
