Service was prompt, and staff polite and helpful. Food was excellent, delivered in good time and well presented.

The restaurant has one of best breads and the spices on bread goes very well. The interiors were recently refurbished and restaurant appears new. The food is a bit different than before and portion sizes has reduced further but overall great experience. Will definitely visit again.

The trendy reviews might be a decade or so out of date but the kebabs absolutely bang in 2024. We got the veg special and I asked your man to serve me something meaty and spicy. Think it was an Adana lamb number. Huge and so Delish. Salad is excellent and good level of spice. Dip was very decent and they take some care over the unreal bread that comes with it. These boys know the drill. Definitely coming back and happy to have a very reliable local sheesh gaff. All under £30 too which is fair. Thanks lads x

Seriously good food in an unassuming venue. All the meat is cooked perfectly with great flavour - a chicken shawarma wrap will cure anything, whatever they wipe all over the wrap before they cook it is pure crack

This is one of the best Turkish I’ve ever had! The food is delicious, the bread you get into start of the meal sets you up lovely The staff are very welcoming also when you leave you can see the chefs and they talk to you which is lovely

The food is always good, reasonable prices and they always provide flat bread which has been caramelised some how and is delicious with a scrumptious sauce with onions and garlic. Best Turkish restaurant I've been to

Unfortunately I can’t rate or recommend this place. I came here tonight for a lahmachun (Turkish pizza) and found that these are pre-made and precooked. All the chef did was warm this up and serve to me loop warm. This is not how a Turkish restaurant should be serving food, I’m really disappointed. The salad I also asked for separate which was again premade earlier and was completely soggy! Sorry guys but you need to step up your game if you want to succeed in the area. From some photos on here I would partially recommend but given tonight’s experience I am skeptical to come back.

Lovely restaurant in the middle of Camberwell. Went for lunch three times. Food is delicious and fresh. Great portions, and selection of food, always made from scratch. Highly recommended, if you are in the area.

I went here for my birthday, we were the last people in. I enjoyed my dinner as I just wanted a grilled meat feast and I got that. I even got a suprise birthday celebration by staff that was very touching. Highly recommended if you love Turkish food or grill. They open late too.

Having checked online I could see that the restaurant was advertised as being open until midnight, which given it was already nearly 10pm, what a spot of luck! I should here that I did explore the 'reservations' through Google maps, that showed the restaurant as having no availability - fortunately a quick phone call proved that incorrect; so it may be worth a phone call if you want to make a booking and can't online. My assumption is that this disparity is because they had plenty of walk-up availability and because it's late and they may close before midnight if nobody is around). My friend and I were shown immediately to a table upstairs on a 'terrace' the street with a great view overlooking the lively street below. The waitress was very attentive, almost immediately bringing our drinks, and serving the entree moments after ordering our food. After raising a slight issue with the first pair of drinks, there was no hesitation in replacing them and opening a fresh bottle of prosecco (the first had seemingly gone flat - I suspect the speed this happens on such a warm day/night wasn't fully taken into account. Every other aspect of it visit was perfect; the food was tasty, fresh and large portions. A fantastic onion sauce is served with the entree, which is only topped by the salad served with each main dish. Thanks guys for a fantastic meal!

I was here few days ago with my partner and my 11 month old baby, I appreciate the kindness and positivity of the people who works in there. We were happy to see that they have baby chair as well. The food was 10/10 I recommend this restaurant from bottom of my heart, definitely we will come back soon (ps. I agreed with my partner to come weekly 😊) Thank you for a nice service!

The staff are friendly and very attentive. The free dip and bread is divine. All in all a wonderful meal. I chose a lamb dish it was delicious.

Best Turkish food I have eaten, worth it for the Turkish bread alone. We ordered chicken and lamb sasliks and some starters l, all of which were delicious, presented beautifully with really nice salads and rice. But seriously the bread with dip for starter is amazing. The dip’s a few slices of fried onion in a sauce I can’t work out but it is amazingly tasty. The bread’s texture is lovely and chewy and the spices on top are delicious. Excellent service and a lovely place all round.

Having come here many times and been very happy, my visit last night was a big let down. Having raised a small issue with my food I was met with no explanation, apology or offer to feedback to the kitchen. Also at the end of our meal most of the group were given a drink to finish apart from 3 of us. When asked my we were met with no answer apart from 3 drinks dumped down with the bill slapped on the table. This made us feel like unvalued customers (especially as we’d spent over £200) and rest of the table valued. I will not be returning give the drop in service, which is a shame.

Good Turkish food, especially the bread and dip. The calamari was very fresh and tasty. The meats were great though my only gripe would be that the marinade was the same for all of the grilled meats we had. Everything did start to taste the same after a while.

Ordered Lahmacun with Chips and Large Chicken Shish... the Lahmacun is by far the worst iv had... it was Soggy and broken to pieces... chips looked as if it was sitting around for couple of days and the Chicken Shish definitely was not a large. Nice people serving but food was awful and I would not recommend

Honestly one of the best Turkish restaurants I've been to and especially if you love your grilled meats and good solid home cooking! Fresh, tasty, what an absolutely delightful experience. Quick service and friendly staff. In the pics is there bread with onion and garlic sauce. Alongside this was the pitta bread and hummus and then the mains being Chicken and Lamb Shish kebab, salad and the healthy stuff. Solid A***** LDT x

I went to this restaurant on the evening of Sunday the 24th of March with a very large group of friends. I felt a bit sorry for the staff as so many of us all turned up at once. In spite of this though , they really looked after us and took our orders very quickly and got our meals to us very quickly too. When we received the bill ,everything was accurate and the food was very good value. It was delicious too. Would definitely go back without hesitation. Great restaurant run by great people who are very good at what they do and serve delicious food.

Wasn't the best food...same spice on bread and meat... Which I don't even eat... But my team mentioned it... trying to order a drink and the waitress just blanked me...and asked are you talking to me... The attitude was awful... I asked the manager for a drink and he said one of the girls will come... They were busy... but no one came... I had to ask 3 times for a drinks order... I still gave a good tip as 2 waitresses were nice at the start of the meal and appreciated the tip ...but some of my staff didn't enjoy their meals... And it was expensive for what it was...

FM Mangal’s chicken shish is a hit. Juicy tender grilled chicken, colourful salad, spicy saucy pita, amazing (and I said amazing) mint yoghurt sauce and hot sauce. You don’t have to compromise for the late night meal in Cambergreen anymore. This is the spot to go!

Hic bir yemek lezzetli degildi. Lezzetli olan tek sey baslangicta verilen baharatli, acili ekmekti. Izgara yemeklere verilen £20-25 icin fazlasiyla kalitesi dusuk bir yemekti. Excellent place, doesn’t look like much from outside but as soon as you walk in you see this giant charcoal grill absolutely loaded with seriously seasoned meat. You can see them grilling the bread over the charcoal and covering it with sauce, it comes free before your meal as well as some spiced onions with vinaigrette and is definitely a highlight. Had the FM Mangal Special (the one under the Lamb section, weirdly there are 3 separate meals with this name) and it was top notch, great selection of meats, delicious rice and really fresh salad. Free baklava at the end as well! This place is amazing.

They mistook my order of chicken and made lamb instead, which I didn't want. Despite only needing to change the meat (the salad and the rice could have stayed as is) and that the grill is extremely hot and can cook the meat in few mins, they said I had to wait 20min for a replacement. Due to having the table for only another half hour, I declined - I did not want to pay full price over £20 for a meal that I would not have much time to eat - I told them that. They simply shrugged and left me with no dinner. This is why 2 stars. They could have done a number of things: they could have offered to not charge me for the delayed chicken (I would have accepted), they could have offered to bring me something else instead e.g. more starters (I would have accepted) or they could have re-considered the 20min wait (I am sure the chicken could have been grilled in 5min). None of these things were considered by this restaurant, which suggests management are not very engaged. The food itself is good, and the service is nice, albeit with the above lack of oversight.

Food to die for!!! 😁😜 As soon as you walk in, you know it's going to be special with the chefs at the grill masterfully preparing meals before your very eyes! Then you are seated and order drinks and before you've even had a chance to think what you would like to order to eat, a huge bowl of delicious flat breads and dipping sauce is brought to your table... Of course you say to yourself, I'll just have one piece, but once savoured, one is NOT enough!!! The meal once ordered and arrived did not disappoint but further added to the tantalising tastes and joy of the experience. I decided to not have any rice (ate too much of the flat bread! 🤭) However, with extra salad, this in no way spoiled the enjoyment of the meal (see photo). Thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish (with all the added complimentary accompaniments ie: hand towel freshen up, dainty morsels of baklava, Turkish delights and sweet aperitif they brought). Definitely recommend and look forward to dining there again whenever we visit South London!

Awesome food and top customer service. Served with on the house starter, flavorful bread, and grilled onion dip. We ordered a couple of mixed dishes, and all of it are delicious. After this, we were served on the house baklava desert. I am very happy with the customer service.

Very nice food, service was excellent. The only negative, it was cold on the ground floor at the back and you could smell the toilets.

An absolute disaster! We went to celebrate 2 people's birthdays a 70 year old and 58 year old. Approx 28 people. We sat on the top floor, placed orders and that's when things went very wrong. An absolute shambles with some people not getting there food even though others had finished theirs and us asking the waitress where the orders where. The waitresses came to find out howmany people had not eaten, saying the food was coming. 15 minutes later one of the people who's birthday it was still had nothing to eat and some of his guests. We asked for the manager, no manager on site and waitresses didn't have a clue. When the food eventually arrived it was burnt and the lamb was full of grizzle to the extent that they were unable to eat it. They then didn't refund the deposit of £140 off the bill. It really spoilt the occasion due to being so disorganised and no one in charge . Never again will we be going there again . Poor food and service with staff that did not even apologise only said its a big group

I went to dinner this evening with a few friends and Abi served us. She was amazing and very attentive the whole night. She definitely made it an enjoyable evening and my friends and I were very appreciative. The food as always was amazing (I even took a goody bag home!).

Came here with some friends for an early dinner on a Saturday. It fills up quickly on a weekend, so although they have additional seating up the spiral staircase, I would recommend making a reservation. Considering the appearance of the outside of this Turkish gem the vibe and setting of the seating area is both buzzing and chilled. They play great music at a decent level so you can have dinner and enjoy a conversation. The food here is excellent, with portions on the larger side and the bread here is freshly made and brushed with their signature onion dip which is also served on the side. It is so tasty that it is hard not to fill up on bread before your meal even arrives. I shared the set 1 menu with one other person and it was a feast. It has excellent options so you get to try a lot of what is on the menu. I do wish that they would create a couple of different options for the set, sharer menu perhaps at different prices too so that you could try different items and experience more of their menu as it is hard to choose just one dish! The service was also great, staff are so friendly and attentive. Nothing seemed a hassle to them and they were always happy to help. This is a great place for family dining, a date or large group of friends. I would say if you were planning to go out somewhere after having a meal here perhaps request seating at the back or on their “terrace” as the grill can get a little smokey and the smell can get into your clothes a little but sat in the right place this would not be an issue.

Wow. Just wow. Get the bread!! I think they must cook it with magic because it’s just epic. Anytime we order for takeaway (collection only) they make us some tea while we wait.. it really is those simple small things that make all the difference.

Some of the best service I have received. Quick and attentive, the staff seemed to know what you wanted without even having to ask. Food was delicious and the portions healthy. If you get one thing make sure it's the flatbread, the sauce on top is divine.

Once upon a time was my favorite go to Turkish mangal,, but now if I’m hungry it is sadly not the place ,, yes that famous starter and seasoned bread maybe good to go back for if just fancy eating lightly otherwise must spend more then many places to get full up now!! Not happy with the smaller portions for higher prices!!

Late lunch for 4 on a Saturday. Really good food. Main dishes are filling - so take it easy with the bread and starters! Parking is pretty impossible in the neighbouring streets, but we got lucky (no permits at weekends).

Terrible uncooked rice served but good services

We last came to this restaurant 8 years ago, and in the interim have had 2 daughters, now 7 and 5. We decided to make a trip to Camberwell this evening and we were not disappointed- even my Italian parents in law were very impressed by the cuisine, and the kids loved the children's menu. We definitely WON'T wait another 8 years before returning to this outstanding restaurant 👏.

Food was nice but overpriced. Bread and dip was complimentary and a nice touch, but customers should be warned that its not vegan or vegetarian. Staff were very attentive, but it was a bit too much as they stood to attention with their hands behind their backs, looking around constantly, and this made me uncomfortable. It looked a bit oppressive. Lower prices and look more relaxed. You might then be fuller.

A couple of my friends had been recommended to visit this place and unfortunately it was not an overall great experience. There was no communication between the staff I had been asked at least 4 times if I wanted a drink whilst I was waiting for my friends to show but I had already given my order to someone. We was catching up and it was quite clear we was all in conversation and we were approached several times to rush and order our food. I was not allowed to swap the rice for chips and I would have had to order additional if I wanted them. The quality of the food was OK, for the price they are charging and quantity, it is not worth it. They brought out bread with some kind of dip, no explanation of what this dip was even the menu didn’t show it, i had to smell it and it was clear that it was some kind of juice from lamb with onions and I do not eat anything with red meat. There was no flavour to the chilli or garlic sauce at all. After our food they gave us “baklava” which we didn’t ask for and it was literally just left on our table with nothing said, we was all very confused, someone on the table next to us had to explain what it was (I believe it was more of a Kurdish dessert). At least 7 times they came over wanting to give us the bill despite the restaurant getting less busy to the point there was only a handful of people left and if we wanted the bill we would of asked for it. It made us feel really uncomfortable. They did attempt to give us a shot of something but we had to ask what this was, which it was amaretto. We all agreed, unfortunately we would not return as we felt watched and the food not worth the price, even when we was paying it felt like all the staff were just watching us.

There's a lot of competition but this has to be some of the best Turkish I've ever tried in London - bright fresh salads, meat that is tender and crisp in all the right places and the breads, warmed on the same grill, soaking up all those meaty juices and charcoal smoke, I could happily feast on the bread alone. There are cheaper options and you'll have to brave the never boring streets of Camberwell but trust me - it's worth it.

Have been to this place many times - food and service has always been great. For the most recent visit, the spare ribs have increased to £21, a whopping 100% inflation in a matter of a couple of years. Worst of all, the service has been appalling, the waitress (seems like someone new) was rather rude and impatient in answering queries. Very disappointed as this has been one of our favourite place to bring family and friends.

A Camberwell institution that has really gone downhill. Went there yesterday and ordered the Moussaka, the portion was tiny and it was burnt to a crisp. It also cost £20 - for a moussaka!! This was always a place to go because the food was good and it was a cheap eat, it’s now expensive and the food isn’t that good.

Fantastic food! I really enjoyed the FM Mangal Special. It consists of lamb, chicken and quail. The staff were very attentive but there was a large takeaway, that meant our mains were delayed. No problem, as it gave us a chance to get hungry again. The restaurant is lovely, and you forget you're in Camberwell. Thank you, I'll be back ! : )

Good food BUT very small portions. The picture shows the plates we ordered and for which we paid £65. For a similar meal I would pay £40- 45 elsewhere. Aside from this the service was good, the place is clean and staff are friendly.

Generous portions, great meats and delicious bread with an amazing onion gravy. They really treat you well and the menu is extensive. Some dishes less good than others but overall a great place to visit. The restaurant needs some TLC as some of the chairs are old and ripped (2018, 4 stars). Update in 2023: They have refurbished and everything have really improved. The food is even better than before and it is now bright and lovely. 5 stars!

Went to have lunch here and the food was really tasty, fair portions and the chilli sauce was delicious. Good price at lunchtimes too! There’s not signal if you’re seated down past the counter and no Wi-Fi (I don’t think) so contacting people when your eating is difficult as you have to keep going outside, hence a star knocked off :)

Wonderful Turkish restaurant. Delicious traditional food. Were really surprised with their appetiser - marinated onion with fried pita bread. Never seen nothing like that before. Ok they renovated but kebab wrap that was a few years ago £6.50 is now £18. Wow!

The bread alone gets 5 stars. Everything we ate was smokey and delicious, even the bread, which is 5 stars btw. Overall I the meal itself was over priced for what it is (£20 per meal), but the 'free' bread and dip softened the blow. Gotta try the bread.

Alright hear me now, I’ve heard a couple things about this Turkish restaurant based on Camberwell so me and my friends decided to try it out. When we went it was raining so it was pretty quiet in there but it still had a classy vibe to it and we had the whole place to ourselves so it felt special. They service was great we were even able to get a drink that wasn’t even on the menu so happy days. Starter house bread This bowl of bread was a great start to the meal with its special seasoning paired with a unique vinaigrette and grilled onions which ended up being cold which was a bit weird but enjoyable. The bread hot and fresh and surprisingly light, me and my friend finished the whole bowl before we got to our mains. 6.8/10 Lamb shish and chicken cubes mix with rice and salad This meal may appeal small but it ended up being quite filling. Now, this maybe due to the bowl of bread that we ate but it was a very enjoyable one nonetheless. The salad was fresh, hit with this beautiful acidity which could have Contributed to the freshness of it all. The rice was mixed with chickpeas and even though it was a very small portion in this circumstance it was enough. Both meats were seasoned very well and both succulent and not dry in the slightest which I was very pleased to see. 7.2/10 Mixed pineapple and mango juice This wonderful mix of juices was unique as it’s not a set thing on the menu but requested and provided. It was the perfect palate cleanser from all the flavour combos going on in this meal. 10/10 Baklava Gotta love when you get the complimentary baklava at the end of the meal, as you end it with something sweet, indulgent and just brilliant. Perfect size to walk out satisfied. 10/10 Overall: A strong 8.5/10

So expensive for not so good food The quality is ok ish, although the lahmacun was terrible with no meat in it, and very soggy, see the picture The main dish took ages to arrive. We asked for the dish to come half meat and half chicken, they brought us two plates instead of one, and they didn't offer to compensate or give a discount. Not going there again.

Absolutely delish. Our waitress Alena was amazing. I celebrated my birthday x3 there ,yes 3 times as had 3 separate set of people. Each time my guests were happy and said that definitely will return with their friends. Food is amazing,my favourite part of the meal is flatbread with saice. I alwaya order TAVUK SIS which is chicken breast cubes marinated and grilled,served with rice and salad.

Came here after a local restaurant were we had a reservation told us they run out of food. The welcome us, service was fast and the food was really tasty and the quantities are massive! They gave us dessert and shots for free too!The customer service was very good and I appreciate this as everything is so expensive at the moment. You want to feel the restaurant cares about you as a customer. Will definitely come back again!

Came back to Mangals for my birthday meal after a long gap...and we were still remembered! The standards are still ace. Had a beautiful sea bass and Fred had the lamb chops, both meals cooked to perfection. To top it all we were given a Baileys for me and a brandy for Fred as it was my birthday. Thank you Mangals, we won't leave it so long next time!!

Excellent tasty food served fresh with friendly service . Visited on Monday so was not busy but it's a bit on the small siz for its space & prices overall could be more competitive. All in all very nice experience. Recommended.

Will not be returning. They have a ridiculous policy where you can not change rice for chips even though chips cost 50p less than rice as a side. Despite requesting the change as my friend does not eat rice they refused stating that this is a regular request from customers but is not allowed by the chef. If this a regular request then maybe you need to listen to your customers.

Had the takeaway Adana which was perfect. Hot bread brushed with spice containing the not too spicy but very Herby Adana. It is pricier than other places but it's worth it

I've been to this restaurant a few times and each time the mood has been warm and friendly. Tonight's atmosphere was shrouded by whom I think was the owner. He practically commanded me to sit in the waiting area as I arrived early for a group reservation. He's stance in the small walk in space overseeing staff was arrogant and unwelcoming. I received the same arrogance later when paying my bill. None of this affected my enjoyment of the food which was great as per. Nor did it affect my evenings enjoyment. I just wonder how necessary it is to have someone who owns a business but clearly has no hospitality skills, at front of house! Even when he said good bye it sounded caustic

Food was excellent, I had yoghurti lamb and chicken mixed. Portions are very big and you get free bread with onion dip and baklava. Also had mint tea which was great. We sat on the balcony which was really nice and chill. Staff were lovely and very attentive.
