Great quality breakfast and great ambiance inside.

My friend and I came down to Albie yesterday for dinner. It was amazing, food came on time and tasted so fresh and rich, we had lamb chops and the vodka pasta. Our waiter Djamila was a star, she was very friendly and made us laugh all our time there. Will definitely be back!

Great brunch in a lovely hotel bar.

Was almost put off by the lower star reviews however this place was great for a quick brunch with my wife on our way back from night away in London, hotel and bar looked pretty cool and great service/ambience. Food reasonably priced drink was bit pricey but standard for London really and the coffee and Bloody Mary’s were amazing.

I’ve held off leaving a negative review until I’d been a couple of times but unfortunately both of my experiences of weekend brunch at Albie have been disappointing and frustrating. On the first occasion, it was relatively busy so I withheld judgement on the extremely slow service. Our server was friendly but unattentive. I ordered poached eggs on toast. When it arrived, it was literally just two small poached eggs on two small pieces of sourdough toast. That was it. The toast was so dry, crunchy and tough to chew that it was unenjoyable. The toast wasn’t buttered and the eggs had been lightly seasoned but it didn’t come with any other accompaniments like avocado or salad. I ordered a sausage on the side (for an astonishing £5!). When it came, it was completely pink and uncooked inside. I waited 15 minutes for the server to come back over, who took it away. 10 mins later, she brought back another sausage which was equally uncooked. I left it. We then waited a further 20 minutes for the plates to be cleared away, 20 further minutes for the bill and 15 more minutes to pay. Every table around us was also having trouble attracting staff attention. We were then overcharged on the bill, which we just left to avoid waiting further. While it was a frustrating experience, I gave it the benefit of the doubt given how busy it was. These things happen. The most recent time I visited for brunch on a sunday, it was not busy. We were presented menus and had our orders taken and delivered quickly. I had the smashed avo on toast with a side of smoked salmon. It was perfectly fine, but nothing special for £18. After that, the server disappeared. We were not asked if everything was ok with our order and our plates were not taken for 20 minutes until after we’d finished. It then took another 25-30 minutes to get the server’s attention to get the bill. Again, the two tables that were occupied near us were also experiencing the same delays. There was no acknowledgement that three tables were having to wave to get anyone’s attention. The slow service particularly baffling as there were only five covers and four waiting staff. The staff always seemed to be busy and yet the service was poor. I will say that it’s a nicely laid out and designed restaurant. It’s clean and tidy and feels upmarket. However, for the price point, the portions are stingy and uninspiring. The cost of add ons that you would expect to be included anywhere else are on the wrong side of cheeky. These could be excused if there was exceptional service, but there isn’t. I understand that Albie will probably survive based on footfall from the hotel, but as a local, I and those I attended with are unlikely to be returning or recommending it to friends unless it makes considerable changes.

Decent breakfast and coffee. Ok prices so good value for a nice setting.

We were going to see a matinee at the Southbank and booked for brunch at 11. Nice walk from Waterloo East along the pretty back streets. Can’t order a Bloody Mary before 11 and it’s the breakfast menu until midday. But eggs were perfectly cooked and nice big portion of hash browns.

Went last sunday to a bar called albie Inside the houxton hotel Very nice hotel btw, but what i enjoyed the most its how the staff are professional,friendly,and hard worker I would love especially mentionned the girl behind the bar SAMIA, she did look after us properly , and she made some skilled cocktails which I and my partner we did enjoyed them Samia we will come back again Thank you

The place is nice and the staff friendly, the quality of the dishes is good (the cooking is a little slow but nothing dramatic) and the price is correct, I recommend it

Our first time in London, and we stayed at the Hoxton. The hostess at the desk, Justina was so wonderful, words cant express how helpful she was. We had drinks several evenings in the lobby, Keira was our server and she was so helpful and turned us on to a drink called the Vieux Carre. And the bartender Jonathon made them perfectly. We would definitely come back.

Visited this place in the heart of Southwark and really had a great experience with everything they had to offer, Albie is indeed a great place to go and have a good time, the food was nice, beautiful art of the place, the drinks are as well amazingly good, thanks to Jonathan who took care of us, will definitely recommend and come back again.

What a fantastic meal! We arrived at 4pm (also staying at The Hoxton) and after a friendly chat and a lovely welcome from Eugene we were seated inside with a roadside view. Our server was Claudio. What a pleasure. Very friendly, helped us with our choices and was a pleasure to have as our server from start to finish. We chose the sour dough to start and share followed by masala fish and chips, salad with chicken and also the Hoxton burger. Everything was really good. The chicken with the salad was perfect, moist with a crispy skin. Burger large and tasty. The fish perfectly cooked with cassava fries, high in protein, more flourery than normal chips, with a curry sauce. We also had Prosecco, the Hox mule, Moscow mule and wild spritz, probably my favourite. To top it all, a trio of ice cream plus a chocolate Happy Birthday for my wife to end. The music in the background gave a great relaxed vibe, not too stuck up. Brilliant meal, looking forward to breakfast already which I shall mention in my TA report on The Hoxton. All in all, brilliant. But definitely made by Eugene and Claudio. Well done. Enjoy

A hidden gem in the Southwark area. The ground floor restaurant and lobby bar are quite relaxed during the afternoon, but the evenings are quite busy and lively - recommend booking always. Service was friendly, and the menu is decent portions I would describe as comfort food. It's nice and I left feeling satisfied.

Lovely and cosy bar near southbank. Delicious cocktails. Eugene has been very accommodating, such a positive energy! Will return for dinner at some point definitely

Mr Jonathan , the bartender add brilliant service and made the best cocktails I’ve ever tried in my life massive thumbs up to him for making the experience worthwhile definitely are going to come back and recommend it all of our friends

Have had great brunches at Albie so decided to visit for dinner and was not disappointed. Friendly staff, great food and atmosphere.

The omlette was just fair, the hash browns were of the frozen triangle patty variety (yuck!), and they stole a £1 on the tab for a local charity. Added a charity donation without asking is theft IMHO.

Friends from the USA were staying at the Hoxton in Southwark, breakfast at the Albie was the easiest place to meet AND I didn't know it existed. Terrific service, breakfast was enormous and delicious, service 10/10 - I intend to go for brunch on my next visit. It is in a perfect location for me, quiet and a hidden gem in SE London.

I had a really lovely experience yesterday, I came with my friend for some drinks and a bite to eat. I was served by Johnathon who was welcoming, attentive and nothing short of an outstanding bartender! Really impressed with his customer service and will be sure to return again!

The place is really nice as well as the atmosphere. Food is excellent too. The staff presented well and was nice. There was an initial issue with the service on my first visit but I have been then contacted afterwards to rectify the situation and can confirm everything was as expected on our second visit. Therefore, as I am living near by, Albie will definitely become one of my regulars for Sunday brunches. Many thanks again Albie.

I stayed a night at Hoxton Southwark. I booked the breakfast package there. Overall: tasty but expensive breakfast 1) the restaurant decorations and vibes are really good 2) the yogurt bowl tastes so lovely with great granola choices added 3) the rise up has a sharp and fresh but not sure if it’s bottled or not - it’s really expensive for a tiny amount juice. 4) I think it’s understaffed as it’s so busy and I haven’t been served with anything over 10mins such as water since I sat down. I have to look for staff to order food… only one staff in the breakfast area to serve everyone which looks a bit bad.

We had a delicious meal at Albie. The chef selected his best dishes and we were extremely pleased by the service and general hospitality at Albie. The tuna tartar was impeccable and especially enjoyed the chicken with orzo and the salmon main course. Special shoutout to Max the chef who made the evening so special for all of us. Claudia checked the menu with the kitchen and emailed me a comprehensive list of everything on the menu that was safe for me to eat. Upon arriving at the albie, the waiter who served us had already been made aware of my allergies and double checked everything I ordered with the kitchen. Not only was every dish we ordered delicious, but the venue was beautiful, comfortable and we were well looked after. Having celebrated our wedding at the Hoxton, Southwark 2 years ago and having visited the Seabird upstairs last year, the Albie measured up perfectly and we will definitely be back.

Visited with two colleagues. I went to the bar to order a coffee and was instructed to sit down because someone would take my order. After waiting a while, I got up again and was reassured someone was coming to take my order. Then had to ask again. Rather than getting an apology I was told ‘I’m here now’. The service needs tightening up or they need to allow people to order at the bar

I stayed at the box ton for 5 nights and it was wonderful, especially the breakfast time! Apart from being a 5-star breakfast in terms of taste, it is also thanks to the service of its staff. Especially Francesco, his service and kindness made all the difference! I will be back for that too!

Had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Albie during our stay in London and we had a good time. The venue is nice, the staff was very friendly, helpful and quick, and the food was good. Gluten and dairy free options are available for those who are intolerant. A very safe option when in doubt or out of time.

Very mixed feelings about the food. The service is nice, the food started nice too. Then we got the steaks, and that was a bad experience. Rare or medium rare steak is not served cold. The sauce was shifted and just oil with pepper at the bottom. When we sent it back for the reasons above we were met with an argument on that this is how it’s supposed to be served. It’s a 38 GBP steak, expectations are higher. We got new steaks which were better, but who ever makes the sauce should go back to chefs school as the sauce was just not good. Serving staff super nice otherwise and good atmosphere. In the end they took the steaks off the bill, which is a nice gesture. Louise of the staff was super attentive and good at her job!

What a lovely place for breakfast/brunch! The coffee was super, the service was quick and friendly and the food was also very-very good.

I went for a couple of drinks for my birthday and the service is amazing. First karolina and Miguel that gave excellent recommendations, Livia, that was so kind and brought the drinks and was so nice and a special thanks to the chefs Max and Goda that surprised me with a brownie to celebrate my birthday. Rude staff, bad service, mediocre food. Have been here a few times before for business meetings and always was good, but today we were embarrassed to bring our clients here for a meeting and meal, and so now would not return.

Delicious food and great coffees. As a traveler I really appreciated knowing I could return to my hotel knowing I could grab a good quick meal. Good service as well.

Lovely staff and chefs. Food isn't anything at all special though unfortunately. Croquettes were tasty but the smashed burger was somehow juicy yet dry/chewy. Apple crumble was okay but based on the prices, you could just head towards The Cut for better options. On a positive note, both the burger and fries stayed hot throughout the whole meal. A strange thing to notice but both tend to end up lukewarm in actual burger establishments when you're halfway through. Nice settings and good cocktails though.

It's ok. there are significantly better brunch places. If you're staying at the Hoxton then the Albie is very convenient. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother really.

Hoxton hotels are very good but this restaurant is disappointing. The usual hoxton brunch offerings done really poorly. Poor food - sent back cold eggs benedict with fridge cold ham, Poor quality weak coffee Everything was insipid - too sweet and just not quite right. Service was average - 7 different serving staff to our table all of whom were friendly but over worked. Facilities dirty and baby changing inadequate and badly thought out meaning you have to almost stand in the toilet to change! Real pity as we stayed in the hoxton in Amsterdam and the menu was the same almost and the whole vibe was 10000% better, better food, better quality ingredients. I recommend Hoxton sends their manager and chefs to amsterdam branch to learn how to run a better show! sorry guys needs to be said - you charge ALOT for worse than pret.

Spent two nights in the Hoxton Southwark Hotel and had lunch and dinner. Albie is a very nice, cool and as well cosy place with a good choice of food, wine and cocktails! The staff is very, very nice, friendly and always serving with a smile. We had perfect evening with a perfect service of Karolina. Thank you and we will see you again!

Visited for a work get together, drinks and dinner for 8 of us on a Thursday night. Service was relatively slow but friendly and the food was as expected for this type of establishment and location. The dessert portions are generous! Generally a good venue to eat and drink.

Delicious food (I highly recommend the Schnitzel Cobb Salad), tasty cocktails and a relazing but buzzy ambience. The staff were all friendly and attentive, but special call out and thanks to the host, Eugene. He was so kind when I had a 'funny turn', bringing me a sugary drink, opening the doors to let in some cooler, fresh air, and checking in with me regularly until I felt better. What a star.

Breakfast was good but dinner was OK, fabulous friendly staff, great ambience but way overpriced for marginally above average food. £160 for 3 adults, 2 kids(they didn't like their food), no starters or puddings, one glass of wine and a G&T. Bill was wrong too. We paid it at the time only realising after we'd checked out in person the next day, during which we found a whole new bill for a dinner we didn't have on our account! Luckily we spotted that one and they wiped it off but it's what prompted us scrabbling to find and check the receipt from the night before later on. 2 drinks we didn't have but couldn't be bothered to pursue that one.

Although we stay at the hotel fairly regularly, we don't always eat breakfast there. So it was a lovely surprise when Fernando, the waiter, not only recognised us and welcomed us back, he also remembered our 'usual' coffee order. We were really impressed at this level and detail of service. Fernando is certainly a real asset to the hotel and Albie Restaurant. Thank you.

The al dente risotto was almost inedible. I know it was Al dente but the rice was barely cooked. My other friends seemed to like their food though.

Pausa pranzo inaspettata. Di norma mi tengo lontano dai ristoranti annessi agli Hotel perché a fronte di conti salati la qualità é mediocre. In questa circostanza mi devo ricredere. Cibo molto buono, tempi d'attesa corretti e sopratutto un attenzione al cliente che non ho ricevuto altrove. Grazie a Francesco che ci ha coccolati e aiutato nelle varie scelte. Consiglio vivamente se siete in zona.

Food is good but service is poor. Staff more interested in chatting with each other than paying any attention to their customers. A pity, a good experience spoiled by lackadaisical staff which is of course the problem of the management.

• Food: One of the worst mocha I have ever tried. Avo on Toast ok but expected more. Not much sweet selection on the brunch menu. • Service: Don’t expect much service even though the place is empty. • The ambiance though is really good but I wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend. • Value for money: not there but honestly is now hard to find a place in London that’s worth paying for.

My partner and I went for some late night cocktails at the Albie last night and I can't emphasise enough how fantastic our time there was. From the moment we stepped inside, we were impressed by the stylish ambiance, warm hospitality, and the undeniable expertise of the bar staff. Livia and Daniele, the two fantastic bartenders, made our visit an extraordinary one. Their passion for mixology shone through in every cocktail they made. Not only were they incredibly skilled, but they were also happy to share their extensive knowledge. They took the time to explain the background, ingredients, and unique techniques behind each drink and how it’s served, and effortlessly recommended cocktails that perfectly matched our preferences. Livia and Daniele's enthusiasm was infectious. From first arriving they instantly put us at ease, making us feel totally welcome. Looking forward to bringing friends and family back! here!

We enjoyed our breakfast here. My daughter lived the Nutella waffle. I had the scrambled eggs which were lovely. The bacon strips and hash browns were delicious. Service was great. Solid spot.

I honestly had such an enjoyable dinner in Albie, lovely atmosphere, super tasty food, very nice cocktails. That beef rib ruben was delicious!! Staff were very attentive , many many thanks to Justina, Eugene and our server Karolina for looking after us so well! Will 100% be back soon!!

My wife and I sat at the Alfie bar for a few drinks after work in March 2023. The location and atmosphere was great and we were served by the most amazing bartenders Daniele and Antonio. We tried a selection of different cocktails, which were...

We had breakfast there. The place is nice and service is decent. However it only offers plates without any creativity. It’s the same stuff you could eat at the cheapest hotel buffet anywhere. Bread and beans, avocado and egg on toast, Benedict eggs. And you would pay much more here to eat the same things you are eating for the last 30 years at least. The ibis buffet down the road will offer you the same quality at as-much-you-can-eat quantity.
