Popped in for a quick pint, as we were staying at the George Inn across the road. Lovely traditional pub, with great ales from the Butcombe Brewery. Very pleasant young man behind the bar. All in all, a pleasant way to while away some time in a very pleasant pub.

We stayed at The George outside of Bath for 2 nights and ate dinner and breakfast at the Fleur De Lys twice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They told us about the history of the inn, explained the bus schedule and were very attentive. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were very flavorful. The hake was also perfectly prepared. The tomatoe and red pepper soup was also very good. They were very accomodating when we asked for substitutions, and when we asked to have breakfast early. The salmon and eggs, and poached eggs with avocado were very well done and filling at breakfast. Excellent service at breakfast as well. We also very much enjoyed our stay at The Plaine (across the street from The George), a lovely hotel. If we ever find ourselves in this part of England again we would definitely return.

The Fleur is a unique proper pub, full of character and a key focal point of the village. It has been so good recently to see the improvement that has occurred since Amy took over the running and operations, and long may this continue. During the 6 Nations games, the atmosphere has been brilliant and everything you want your local to be! Great fun!

I popped onto the fleur whilst driving through Norton st Phillip for a quick drink with my Boyfriend. One word I have to describe is Wow! From trying various pubs in bath we couldn’t seem to find anywhere with good ale, great service & also fun things to do! We played pool & darts, enjoyed some excellent ale (Betcombe Original) and had amazing service from Sam. Nothing was too much trouble! He made conversations about local events & we learnt he was fairly new. You would never have known. We were also lucky enough to bump into the GM Linda who was rushing around in the overly busy George. We will be back and will recommend to all our friends and family!!!!!!!!!!! We love the Fleur!

Not only is this pub set in the most beautiful of buildings the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, they completely exceeded our expectations, being from the Midlands with a chip shop on every road, and Indian, Chinese, pizza take away available at the touch of button going in to a small village for a stay over night we didn't think twice about being able to get food after an eventful journey from the snow filled Midlands, storm Arwen, a blow out on the motorway, arriving late and hungry all we wanted was food.....to find the restaurant full and NO take aways (?!) Luckily for us, Dawn took it up on herself to ring around all the restaurants in a bid to get us some food, after a good 20-25 mins she found us a take away that would deliver to the pub! After an hour's wait, several wines later a walk back to camp with a curry in hand, we were to happy ladies! Thank you so much for your help.

We visited the Fleur de Lys while staying at the George and the Plaine across the street. Well, visited is a bit of understatement - we practically moved in for the day. From the first moment you open the door, this place just oozes atmosphere and friendliness, from the roaring fire, to the well-chosen and appropriately-volumed music playlist, to the plethora of amusements like darts, backgammon, pool and even a skittle alley! We just propped up the bar (with its excellent draft ales) and chatted with the staff and locals. The bar manager Sean is brilliant. We spent several hours discussing everything from rugby to beer, travel, life, the universe and everything. He could not have made us more welcome, but at the same time, he was always watching for a dirty glass on a table or a patron needing a refill, or keeping the fire stocked up with logs. Top marks! We would come to Norton St Philip again just for the Fleur de Lys. We did not eat at the pub as we had booked at the George, but saw many plates virtually licked clean, and for sure we will try the food here next time.

Went here by accident because the George Inn, where we were staying closed it's bar and restaurant at 6:30pm on Boxing Day. Ended up having a lovely night. Food was good, ale was even better. The landlord and staff were very friendly and kept us supplied with drinks all evening when our glasses were getting low. We even watched the Leicester vs Liverpool game - bad result though! Great small friendly pub. Would recommend it if you are in the area.

Don't bother coming for a meal here! Half the menu wasn't even available! We went for a meal on my husbands birthday. We ordered their pie and a jacket potato for me. They brought my jacket but nothing for my husband. So when we asked where was the pie? She replied, we hadn't ordered it! She offered to take my potato away and bring it back when my husbands pie was done, and we thought that would be okay but it was like rubber potato and cheese and tasted disgusting. By which time with all the delay and ruined food my stressed husband couldn't eat the pie! Thanks for the wonderful birthday meal !!!! The cheek of it was when we complained we got a stingy £2.10 off a £32 bill !!! She even spelt our name wrong! At least the garlic bread and beer they got right.

Supper with pals took more than two hours one Saturday night due to the lack of staff and the chef having to come out to serve the food to the customers. The gluten free pizza was not good and was a quarter of the size of the other standard pizza's. When I questioned the size, I was told that was how it came packaged - so much for home cooking! In the end I was glad it was a lot smaller because when something is dry and tasteless you don't feel you are missing out. When we paid we did get an apology for the wait and in many ways that didn't matter too much as we were in such good company - its just the standard of food that let the whole experience down. Its not one I would repeat in a hurry.

The Fleur has recently undergone a change of management and also refurbishment inside - and all to the better. Under the previous management we had stopped going to our local, as had most others in the village. It lacked atmosphere and the food was completely unimaginative. Now with Tom at front of house, and under Jenny's overall management it's back to being our 'local' that we look forward to visiting. The food, all with an Italian bias is simple, cheap, but good, with the addition of some very good pie and mash dishes. The beer is always well kept and the welcome is warm. Just what an English local should be.

Having visited this pub, I don't know why more pubs don't ditch a tired pub grub menu and concentrate on doing pizza. But perhaps most places don't do pizza as well as the venerable old Fleur de Lys. I'm not even a fan of pizza but our casual New Year's Day feast of ham, mozzarella and semi -dried tomato , despite being one of the only toppings still available, was delicious. The pub itself is very old, and full of nooks and crannies to explore, but we plumped for the room with the open fire. The staff were young and efficient, although on this day at least a little prone to wandering away and leaving the bar unstaffed. I'm looking forward to sampling a bigger range of these impressive pizzas another day. Worth travelling from Corsham for.

We enjoyed our meal very much, although the menu is a bit strange and not typical 'pub grub'. Quite limited to pizza and pasta, but well cooked and different flavours to the usual run-of-the-mill stuff. We decided to try it again for dinner last night and were not disappointed. On entering, it was so good to be met by a hubbub of relaxed chatter, with customers sitting at the bar and at the tables throughout the pub. The dart board has also been moved into the main bar area, and really added to the traditional feel of the place. The menu was simple and limited, with traditional pub fare, but the food was very enjoyable. We had the beef lasagne and the smoked haddock and pea risotto - portion sizes were perfect, and the food was hot, tasty and well presented. At last somebody has taken the Fleur de Lys and given it the re vamp it desperately needed. It's kept it's local pub feel but with a sensitive re fit, keeping much of the traditional feel to the pub decor with it's old paintings , wooden paneling , open fires etc plus a good range of ales and wines. 3 of us went for lunch and had a sharing platter (a great mix of meats, cheese relishes), pizza (from a newly installed pizza oven) and chorizo with garlic bread, huge portions, freshly made nicely presented by a very friendly chef who brought out the food and for a chat . Really reasonable prices. The Fleur is now a great local pub worth visiting, I look forward to returning to try the smoked haddock and pea risotto.... yum

Everyone enjoyed their selection, and our grandson who only wanted baked beans on toast had seconds !!! The staff were friendly and attentive.

Very good pub food, with fairly wide menu, promptly served, very well presented, and tasty. A very pleasant pub ambience, in genuinely characterful but neat and tidy building on the main street in this picturesque village just south of Bath. Excellent staff....cheerful and professional with the knack of being attentive to the guests' needs whilst not being intrusive. Altogether a relaxed and very comfortable setting for a meal.

Loved this pub ... The landlord was lovely, friendly and welcoming without intruding on our evening. Excellent food, well priced and served promptly, only sorry that we didn't have time for a second visit. Top marks from us and definitely going to go there again.

We were staying at the George Inn but decided to visit the Fleur de Lys one evening. We were very impressed by the welcome given, nothing was too much trouble to accommodate our varied requests at very short notice. The best Fish & Chips tasted on our weekend break!! Thanks very much to the Landlord who made up feel so welcome, will definitely visit again when in the area.

We booked a table for dinner last week for yesterday evening, Saturday 30 August. I asked if there were vegetarian options and was told that there would be vegetarian options. We arrived early and should have read the warning signs, an outisde barbeque was being set up and baloons with "21" on them were fluttering in the breeze. We were not told that on Saturday evening they were hosting a 21st birthday barbeque, which put a strain on the kitchen. We had some banter with the landlord, who was very sociable, and when presented with the menu's informed us that the ratatouile was not available, leaving only an omlette as the veggie "choice". We ordered from the waitress at 07.15pm, bemoaning the fact that the main veggie option was unavailable. She just looked at us and said nothing. We ordered drinks at this time, and they came soon after.40 minutes later we had no food, nor did anyone inform us that there would be a delay, presumably due to the catering for the 21st barbie. I asked for the drinks bill (£5.10 for a half of bitter and coke) and cancelled the order for food. The landlord came through to the bar saying that I did not need to pay for the drink, however as I intended to write a critique I insisted on paying for the drinks and we left. Why, when we booked were we not told of the 21st barbeque? We would have probably booked for another evening. Why did the waitress not keep us informed that there would be a delay?Based on our completely unbiased experience we would not recommend that this is your restaurant of choice in Norton St Phillip and I am amazed as to how it is at the No. 1 spot for this location.

Went in on a Tuesday around 19:00 Table near the entrance was full of cleaning materials. Other tables had dirty glasses on them. After ordering our food a family sat on the next table with small children and ordered their food but still their table did not get cleared. Because my wife and I have both done bar work and out of habit we cleared the tables ourselves. If it had been really busy I could have understood it but it was fairly quiet. We also waited 45 mins. for 1 steak and chips and 1 burger and chips.

Ian & Ben made us all very welcome. The menu choices were excellent with half portions on offer - much appreciated. The food was delicious - they had warned us they have a small kitchen so the food might take some time but in fact it didn't. Great people, warm ambience in a little pub that's big on character. Worth a visit!

We stayed next door at the Plaine and came in for a pint. There was another family there but otherwise it was a very quiet weeknight. The host didn't do much to engage us so it was pretty average.

Stopped mid bike-ride for a drink. A pint of draught diet coke was over £3. Unbelievable. A cup of diet coke....FOR OVER £3!! And they gave me normal coke instead of a diet.

A really old fashioned pub that's been the drinking den of the small market town for hundreds of years. With traditional ales on beer engine and a chatty landlord who has a ready wit and very welcoming manner you can't go wrong. Get him to tell you all about the history of the place, especially the legend of the rebels trooped through what is now his bar on their to be executed just beyond his car park! Cosy and homely, just the place for a good evening's talking and quaffing.

We arrived at 6.25pm having enjoyed a day out at Lacock. There were five of us and we were all very hungry! Having read the reviews, despite the remarks of the last poor review, we felt as it was Thursday, with only one other table of four waiting to eat we would not have the long wait the last review had.Our order was placed at 6.30pm having been told the chef had arrived. X1 warm chicken and bacon Caesar saladX2 ratatouille served with riceX1 chicken curry and riceX1 scampi and chipsThe other table of food arrived and we could see they had ordered fish and chips, which looked very nice indeed, and looked forward to our meals arriving. However, we waited, and waited and waited! 50 minutes later, my husband went to the bar and asked what had happened to our meals, she quickly told him that they were coming. Not once did anyone approach the table to apologise for the delay or what the problem was (if any).Nearly an hour later the food arrived....My chicken and bacon salad consisted of not many strips of chicken and bacon that were dry and chewy. There was no sign of any Parmesan shavings, and when I asked for some Parmesan, the bar lady told me they didn't have any. The pepper pots were empty (they looked full, because the residue of pepper was stuck to the inside of the glass, but they were empty). The bar lady did produce a grinder pepper mill when I bought it to her attention. The ratatouille were disappointing. My husbands curry was OK. The best meal was the scampi and chips. We did not complain because having waited so long, and so hungry, we ate our meals and left disappointed.I can not understand that this pub is number one out of three. They appear to do good fish and chips, but the wait was ridiculous for what we had ordered, and very disappointed when it came out.Our poor experience, means we will not be returning to waste our hard earned money again!

We visited the pub on Bank holiday Friday after seeing the reviews online and only being 5 minutes up the road from our accomadation. We were kept waiting for just under an hour for our food despite there only being another couple waiting on food! The food was ok pub grub certainly not worth the wait!

On the plus side I had a perfectly cooked blue fillet steak and my husband's ribs were good. Also the waitress was lovely. This is why I have given 3 stars, otherwise it would have been one star! Basically they had no food! They had run out of all of the starters and the majority of the mains, the only steak was fillet, no chicken, no mixed grill, and when our main courses arrived there were items missing, no tomato or mushroom with the steak, no corn or sauce with the ribs and when we queried it with the male server a brusque "we haven't got any". I have never experienced anything quite like this, can't wait for breakfast 😂.

Great location and good price. Room was a little dated but had plenty of storage. Headboard on bed was badly stained (clean it with steam or change it) Staff that we dealt with was Ok. Did not have food or drinks here. A little noisy if you plan to go to bed early.
