Flavour Indian Restaurant in Mid Sussex

Ordered online for delivery and told 40min however website updated to 50mins so I gave it a hour to chase delivery. I was informed that it was sent out for delivery 15mins ago with 4-5 other orders which raised alarms. The guy on the phone explained they had delivery driver shortages which I was understandably sympathetic however when it got to 1hr 15mins I still had not received food. 2nd call and a lot of waiting I was informed that they had tried contacting driver however had no luck. Eventually 1hr 27mins a driver arrived with food ( been on the road for 42mins with order ). Opened the main dishes and it was just under Luke warm. Rice dishes were worse and the aloo was practically cold. Nan breads were soggy. Called shop and explained what the condition was to be told that my number will be forwarded to the manager who was not working today. I tried a small piece of curry and sauce and I was gutted as the flavour seemed to be great. Very unhappy with my whole 1st time experience overall.

I ordered a take -away meal for two. I order the Chicken Jalfrezi and it was the worst Chicken Jalfrezi I have ever had. It consisted of chicken pieces in a thin, brown sauce that was mainly onions and extremely bland. I also ordered sag paneer and tarka dhall, the portion size was small and I was left feeling hungry. My partner complained that the pappadams were burnt. I usually order form another, reliable restaurant and thought I would give Flavour a try. I regret my decision and will not be using them again.

My friend and I had never been to this restaurant before but we will certainly be returning! Massive choice of starter, main course, side dish, rice and finally coffee all for £11.99. Excellent food and polite and attentive waiting staff. Can't recommend this restaurant enough

Found this gem on Tripadvisor and had such a good experience tonight. I called ahead and got a table last minute. The staff were very kind, accommodating and patient. The food was delicious; we had the veg thali and chicken Kashmiri. A very good and reasonably priced menu catering to most tastes. Would highly recommend

Visited on a Wednesday in May 2021 and had the banquet deal - starter, main, side dish, rice / nan bread plus coffee for £11.95. Loads of choice. Really, really tasty. Massive portions. And great service. Had the Chicken Shashlick (a kind of sizzling marinated chicken kebab) and aubergine bhaji and it was completely delicious. We've been driving over from Haywards Heath to get our indian takeaways from Flavour for years and it is consistently the best curry around. Highly recommend.

12th December & self isolating with a hungry 10 year old. Advised 40 min delivery, We waited an hour and a half for cold food, poor management response, rude & dismissive. A very unpleasant experience.

We visited Flavour again last night, got a warm welcome and a tasty meal. We both enjoyed the Sunday special, a 5 course set huge menu.Restaurant very quiet for a Sunday evening, but only to be expected due to the limits on everyones social lifes at the moment.A good evening and look forward to going back again with friends

Fast delivery and great service. Food was delicious, best curry house in Burgess Hill! Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

We had a takeaway this evening it was very disappointing the vegetable curry with the Chicken Tikka Biryani was mainly just source not much evidence of vegetables and half full container, the Onion Bargee was very dry and chewy, we were supposed to get an extra popadom that was also missing. The Sag Aloo was also half full and hardly and Spinach. We previously had used Flavours but tonight was not the best!

Visited flavour last Wednesday and was shocked to find absolutely no social distancing inside this restaurant, not one table removed from prior the lockdown only a couple of feet between customers , menus not cleaned between customers and only the table runner replaced between clients so the under tablecloth still I place probably for several days .The food is reasonably good , but will not return until I can see the recommended rules adhered to

Ordered a takeaway for delivery at a specific time. It arrived 35 minutes early. Didn’t realise when we took the delivery that part of the order was missing. The food was cold. Rice was in congealed lumps. Onion bhaji’s were like rubber. Called the restaurant to discuss. They were extremely unhelpful and rude. Refused to refund where they had overcharged us for not delivering part of the order. Appalling food and customer service non existent. They obviously do not value their customers.

I ordered take out from them today and ordered the following dishes Chefs special Bhuna ghostBombay AlooTandoori ChickenPaneer Tikka MasalaGarlic NaanI was educated in Indian cuisine while being from India and have been eating Indian food for over 35 years little did i know that Bhuna ghost (chicken) is cooked with cheddar cheese and mushrooms, also paneer tikka masala is cooked with tinned tomatoes and coconut milk. also the Vegetable do pyaza is cooked with Brocolli. This has been a sheer enlightening session and I would thank them for educating someone how perfectly proper dishes are made a mess. Please stop using the name of India as you are at best a Bangladeshi restaurant with a cook and not a chef you have no right to degrade fine cuisine and give bad name to good food gutted would keep my distance and wont ever order again

We ordered from here last week when they reopened after closing for a while due to the current situation - it was delivered safely and every item we ordered was really flavourful, will definitely order from here again

My husband and I regularly get take always from here and often bring friends and family to the restaurant for a treat.They are happy to adapt any flavour you ask in the curries, and customer service is great.We ordered a curry during this difficult time and they kept a good distance, ensured safety and as usual the flavour was delightful.

Given the current Covid crisis thought we’d treat ourselves to a take a way. Used the online ordering system.... easy enough.When the foood hadn’t arrived an hour after it was booked... I rang and was informed the food was in its way.It arrived approx 20- 30 minutes later.It was cold....all required heating in microwave.The dishes all vegetarian lacked any depth of flavour and tasted like they’d been thrown together... onions were uncooked.So very disappointed at a £50 takeaway which will be the last for a while.

My son’s birthday meal. It’s the first time all the family have eaten here. All our meals were great, thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely be back.

We often come here as we live within walking distance so it is our restaurant of choice for celebrations and dinner out, and we enjoy it so much that we use it for Indian takeaways. Almost always it is superb! I am vegan and the staff are always very happy to look after me, whilst my husband loves his chicken dishes. Food is excellent, perfectly deliciously spiced and not too oily, vegetable dishes contain gorgeous large chunks of fresh vegetables served with a bite and not soggy or mushy as is so often the case in Indian restaurants as though defrosted. Decor and eating implements are stylish and modern, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Recommend!

Having moved to the area recently, we were exploring and decided to give this place a try.It was a Thursday evening and the restaurant was completely empty, though there was a steady stream of people collecting takeaway orders so that was a good sign.Even though we were the only diners in the restaurant, the staff were not intrusive and we had a very enjoyable meal with drinks. We ordered too many sides (one of my downfalls of going to an indian restaurant) however everything was cooked well and the meat was really tasty. Price reasonable, would return.

Mushtak Miah and his team will give you a great service and the Sunday buffet deal is superb value. £11.95 for 5 courses, often too much food , but very tasty.

Always love this restaurant but now do home delivery which is so convenient when not wanting to go out. Food is great tasting and they will also do meals not on the menu. Great friendly manager.

Been here couple of times where food was always ok but on last visit for a takeaway found the pilau rice was not actually a proper pilau rice but instead a disgusting tasteless over cooked boiled rice...yuk...no point in telling them as I don’t think they seem to give a hoot when I just criticised the onion Bali’s from couple of visits back that were not done properly and so fell apart....the quality of food seems to keep failing lately so wont bother again as as usual another bad restaurant who can’t cook a simple dish...

A last minute visit of 7 on a Sunday we heard the special offer from others. What a great selection of choices very good value indeed. Will visit again, thanks to the staff.

We have eaten here several times and have always been happy with the food. On certain days they do set meal deal which is excellent value.

Met up with a couple of friends for the banquet night which is advertised as a 5 course meal for £11.95. We were asked if we wanted poppadoms on arrival and the waiter asked if it was for three, to which we replied yes and we were given 6 poppadoms and the usual chutneys. Then we had starters of onion bhaji, these were greasy and tasteless. Another friend had chicken tikka which was 3 small cubes of chicken and iceberg lettuce. Then the mains came, a friend had chicken bhuna which he had to send back as the chicken was dry and tough, they then came back with chicken tikka in a sauce that tasted nothing like bhuna. My main was pretty tasteless, just chicken tikka and spinach. The sides that we got with this were pretty bland as well. I have eaten here before a few times and maybe we just chose the wrong night but the most disappointing part was getting the bill and to see we were charged £2 for chutneys and £4.80 for poppadoms, I have never been to an Indian restaurant and been charged for chutney nor did I see it listed on the menu. I really struggled to see where 5 courses came from as well, we certainly didn’t get them. It’s a shame but I won’t be returning here again in the future.

The restaurant had been recommended by friends, so we hoped it was going to be good. Service was efficient and friendly, keeping the drinks coming.

Popped into this restaurant on a visit to the area from France. The welcome was very friendly and the tables were clean and well presented. The outstanding part was the food - I had a Chicken Pathia and my husband a Chicken Madras - absolutely superb.

We thought we would try this takeaway out as the reviews looked good. However, this was not our experience.

Really good takeaway - Flavour Grill & Paneer tandoori were very tasty, as was the chilli nan. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Wow what a superb meal we had Sunday night nothing is ever to much trouble all of the staff are polite and very helpful. The quality of the food was superb we will definitely be going back again. Very highly recommended

Enjoyed a brief catch up with my friends over a tasty dinner on a quiet evening in Burgess Hill. Tasty food choices with good size portions and loved the onion bhajis.

Spurred on by a review of the best Indian chefs in Sussex à friend and I went there one Friday evening. We chose a variation on their standard meat Thali to get an idea of a range of their food.

My parents live in the area and I stumbled on this place when I was driving round looking to get a take-away last summer for them. Since then we have all been back a few times for a meal including the Sunday buffet.

Lovely curry house, really nice polite staff and friendly to all our family. I asked for advice on choosing my curry, and came up with a delicious dish. All of us here would recommend this place for everyone!

We wanted a quick evening meal before going to a concert. Flavour had good reviews and we weren't disappointed in the quality of the food and the efficient and friendly service. Would happily go there again when next in the area.

My partner and I have recently moved to the area and have tried out a couple of Indian restaurants to see which one we like best. Going by reviews on here, This is the third one and the food wasn’t amazing to say the least. We had lamb biriani, keema naan and poppadoms with all the sauces. The biriani came with SULTANAS??? Who puts fruit in a biriani! It also seemed to have a kind of nuts in it. The lamb was a little chewy and flavourless. The vegetable curry accompanying this was very bland and the potatoes in it seemed to be cut up new potatoes with the skin on and they were very hard and crunchy! The veg also seemed very cheap and nasty mixed veg out of a bag. The keema naan was tasteless and very soggy. The poppadoms tasted stale and chewy and the sauces quite sickly. Really disappointed after reading really good reviews on here. Possibly try again in the VERY near future, maybe they will get a new chef!

Took my wife and our neighbours for a meal at Flavour. Had booked in advance but table had not been reserved so they seated us at the front in window adjacent to a large party of very noisy people. We were then moved to the rear of the restaurant but still found it difficult to hold a conversation over the din.Not the restaurant's fault. Slow service not as good as usual. Food could have been hotter but as the staff were run off their feet we did not wish to cause them further pressure. Would we go back. YES. as they offer good value and nice selection on the menu. Staff pleasant enough.

I have now eaten here 6 times in the last 6 months in groups as small as 2 and as large as 30. I have never left feeling disappointed and always leave recommending it to more and more friends. The service never falters, extremely friendly, great with children, and a real 'family-run' atmosphere. Delicious tapas, lots of variety plus specials...all fresh and full of flavour and not small by any means. We had a Spanish friend with us on our last visit and he raved about the great food quality! And to top it all...excellent value for money. Just gutted they have to close for the summer to return to Spain for the holidays. We look forward to their return in September!!

Apparently the Banquet menu is on Wednesday as well as Sunday and 5 not to large courses for £10.95 suited us just fine. There is a supplement of £3 for some items so check the list at the top as this could add quite a bit on your bill if you opted for them on both courses. Good food , timely enough service and a reasonable wine menu to.

Went with a group of 7. The place was fairly full and they seemed to be doing a lot of takeaways, so this attributed to the initial slow service. It improved.

My favourite curry house of all time! The staff are brilliant, the owner is fantastic and the food is to die for. Very reasonable and lovely sized portions. Here it is superb quality food! cannot fault it one bit

There are loads of Indian restaurants in Burgess Hill but having read all the favourable reviews, decided to try this one. Whilst the service was pretty good, we did feel crammed in with not much space on the table and squashed in very close on our chairs. The food was ok, but we all thought taste wise it was a bit bland. I had the Thali and the onion bhajis was oily. My husband's curry was pretty flavourless he said. Overall average but a bit of a disappointment after the other reviews. Prices are average for an Indian restaurant.

This has been our third year in a row we have made our Christmas pilgrimage for our curry, and once again we were not disappointed, the food was excellent the staff were really good running all over the place making sure everyone was happy, and nothing was to much bother.

Ate here on a Saturday night with friends and the husband. We had poppadoms and then mains with some sides. Would recommend booking. It was very busy but the food and drink all came in really good time.

Ordered a take away on a Friday night. Accuracy of the order was good and the manager checked every order before it went out which was good to see. Nothing worse than getting home to realise an error. Food was decent but really disappointed in my vindaloo which was very mild and the potatoes in a saag aloo were just weird. Charlotte potatoes I believe which just provided the wrong texture. The garlic naan was very good though. Would probably go elsewhere on this experience but it is a popular restaurant.

Ok I may frequent Flavour ‘occasionally’ but I’ve yet to have anything other than tasty dishes and friendly service. If you’re grabbing a take away on the way home from work, popping in for a meal after a few beers or just relaxing with friends & family they do you proud. Go on get yourself in there for a decent ‘ruby’ you won’t be disappointed

Took the family out for an early dinner. The service was great and they made sure my 10year old was happy with his food by helping him decide what he wanted to eat. The food was lovely - layers of flavours. This is one the the best Indian meals I’ve had and will definitely go back. We took up the offer of the ‘gourmet evening’. Starter, main, veg side and rice or bread for £11.95 per head. Extremely good value.

I’ve eaten at Flavour on several occasions and always enjoyed the food. It’s especially nice on a warm sunny early evening sitting in the window area with the windows complexly open.

AVOID!!Really disappointed! 20mins waiting after collect time given. Food was tasteless and no spice what's so ever to my madras. And to top it off Its now coming out of both ends!! (more taste on way back up mind you!)

We were the only people in the restaurant - (five of us) for lunch. We all opted for quite different dishes, I wanted to try something new and was not disappointed (from the chefs recommendations and specials). Good variety of rices to accompany. The service was friendly and warm. Being a hot day and the frontage opened up, it was quite noisy with the traffic especially heavy lorries. It was good food and good value. I would not hesitate to return.

Wow , we were very impressed with the food and staff. The owner /manager was exceptionally efficient and attention to detail. He had put his own birthday banners up and lit a candle in the twins desserts . A very enjoyable meal with a relaxed atmosphere .

A vegetarian, a meat lover, and a "not too hot" curry lover were all very satisfied by the good quality food and pleasant environment. The peshwari naan was a particular highlight. The shatkora lamb and the meat thali platter were also excellent.

I'm not a great lover of writing reviews but, as the staff specifically asked me to do so (on my departure from the restaurant), I've decided to do so. I can't fault the staff - they were very polite - but, for me, the food was too bland. My dish (a chicken madras) felt a though the meat had just been cooked generically and then added to the madras sauce at the end. I'm not saying that the sauce wasn't good but, for me, the overall experience left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. (I say 'for me' because my wife had the chicken dansak and really enjoyed it). I hope the staff there at Flavour do not take offence at my critique - I'm just trying to give my honest opinion.

We had a delicious curry in Flavour last night, we were a group of 5, and have been coming here for many years. The food is great the service is great and the staff are lovely friendly and attentive, highly recommend.

Excellent place for an after office hours curry club, so coping with a large group is done well. Attentive, friendly staff, very tasty curries, both potato dishes carried the best taste, Saag and Bombay respectively. I was hoping for more chilli heat, lesson is to ask before being served, they are happy to oblige.

We ordered a take away for four. We were all very disappointed. All the dishes were very bland with 'no flavour!' The chicken tikka balti and chicken tikka dansak were bad enough but the king prawn biryani was the worst that any of us had tasted. They must have a new chef because the last time we ate here it was no where near as bad.

Not sure if we caught them on a bad night, but had a takeaway from here and whilst there was nothing particularly wrong with it, ironically all the main courses were quite bland and lacking flavor.

Having read about some home delivery delays on TA, we decided to try Flavour's. They delivered within the time promised. The quality of the food was excellent. The quantity - I know we are not getting any younger but we did struggle to finish! We had some additional poppadoms and plenty of onion (etc) salad.Our next home delivery will be from there. A very satisfied customer.

Went to Flavour for the first time. Live outside the area so this was a recommendation. Very hospitable welcome to a beautifully appointed establishment. Clean, tidy and not crowded with tables. The menu was extensive and easy to follow. The food was fresh and beautifully cooked. Staff were attentive and polite. We would certainly return and highly recommend to lovers of Indian cuisine.

We have been customers of this wonderful Indian restaurant for many years and it never fails to deliver. Great food, wonderful service from some lovely staff. We have never had a bad meal or evening here, and will continue to go here.

Had a few takeaways from this restaurant but decided to eat in for a treat! The location of this restaurant is ideal, just 5mins walk from Burgess Hill station. Atmosphere was pleasant, not too busy. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Menu offered a great variety of food, happy to adjust anything for you if possible. Food was very tasty and good portions. Would definitely recommend eating here and will be going back soon.

The restaurant is in the heart of the town and offers a great verity of food. With a mixture of traditional. modern and specialist dishes you can find a dish to suit all tastes. The staff are efficient and friendly and offer advise where needed. It is a busy restaurant so book in advance although they will always try to find a table if you are not looking for a big party.

Wow , each dish you have from here is full of maximum flavor and rich in exotic ingredients. The Menu is full of many choices it will have you feeling so greedy. Hurry up and go there!

The food here is awesome and the staff are great. This is now our regular choice of takeaway - they do discount if you collect. Always get loads of food and free poppadoms. If you don't like spice go for a Makhani Chicken - it is gorgeous!

Had been hearing lots about Flavour from a friend whose in-laws are always going there. We had a good meal and a nice evening out. The menu was classic British curry house, with a section of Chef's Specialities - which is usually what we like to order. We had 2 chicken dishes, 1 prawn and 1 lamb. It was all pretty good.Had some of the desserts, which I am certain, are not prepared on-site, but the ice cream was still pretty good.Only drawback is that it is a fairly small restaurant and some of the tables are quite close together and wedged up against the wall. If you require ample elbow room when eating curry, you'll be disappointed here.All in all, it was a nice evening and the staff are friendly and attentive.

This used to be my favourite local India restaurant but oh how it's changed, the staff were always friendly & welcoming , but other than the manager all has changed, I suspect even the chef, my chicken dish was dry & a little bland by normal standards, the foods not bad but the whole atmosphere is different, service was ok but no more than that, I'd not normally go else where but perhaps the time has come to try somewhere else

I used to love coming here as everyone was so friendly and although the food is a little expensive it was made up for by the people and service... However... the last 2 times I've visited the staff have been rude and the food average at best!The last time we came we ordered a 3 course meal and it took FOREVER! We were constantly chasing food arrival times and after being there for over 3 hours we were still only on the main meal, waiting over an hour for each course. We approached the manager to ask if we could have a refund on dessert which had been prepaid as half of our party could not wait any longer as they had other arrangements and had to leave but we were just told "It's busy, there's nothing we can do"Actually there is... revert back to being caring hosts and don't pack your restaurant above capacity so that we are all like sardines and have take out orders coming in if you know you can not deliver on the service!Don't Bother... There are better Indian restaurants in town!

Use this place very often. Mainly takeaway as the restaurant is quite small and can sometimes feel a little squeezed. However, the food is excellent, the service is great and it is excellent value for money

We had a take away. The naan breads were excellent. The papers around the onion bhajis were dripping with oil, not great. The main dishes were very strong in flavour and the extremely vibrant colours of some of the sauces were somewhat off putting. Seemed high in salt, but that may be just a perception and not the case. We'll be back to Taza. Maybe our experience was untypical. Might try Flavour again in the future at some point.

Very standard Indian restaurant, with pretty run of the mill menu. All our food was served promptly and was nice and hot. Staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant was quiet,but it was Monday evening. We spent a long while at our table discussing our business and found it enjoyable and relaxing. We were never made to feel that we had to move on. The toilets were nice and clean too.

The best curry house in the area in my opinion , I have visited many but this one has constantly produced very good fresh food on every visit and with every takeaway ordered
