Flat Iron Spitalfields in Tower Hamlets

Great value for money but don’t go of you’re expecting a lot of choice as it’s pretty much steak, steak, steak or a burger! Steaks were cooked to all our specifications perfectly and the steak itself was delicious! Good choice of sides, we had creamed spinach, mac and cheese and beef dripping fries all of which were tasty. You even get a little meat cleaver token for a free ice cream on the way out. If you don’t want the ice cream you can keep the token and cash it in at any Flat Iron for an ice cream at any time!

Gezellige pub/restaurant waar het goed toeven is. Je ziet dat dit restaurant populair is en dat het gezellig druk is maar dat ze je zeker niet 'wegkijken'. Het menu is behoorlijk en de kosten hiervoor redelijk. Uiterst snelle en vriendelijke bediening die wel even tijd hebben voor een kort praatje (Nicole Thanks). Na het eten krijg je bij vertrek een gratis ijsje erg attent!

Despite not having a reservation, the helpful staff found me a table. I think that I arrived just at the right time, soon after they opened, as the place quickly filled up. As soon as you sit down you are given a mug full of pop-corn to snack on as you peruse the menu. As it was my first time in in this chain of restaurants I went for their signature Flat Iron 200g steak cooked med rare. This was fine, and at £14 was reasonable for a steak in Central London. What did really impress me though was their garlic mash. I definitely have to go back to try one of their Wagyu steaks. Don't forget the free ice cream cone that you're given as you leave, the vanilla flavour is wonderful.

I honestly think this is one of my favourite places to eat in London. The menu is small but what they do, they do very well. The prices make you feel like you're not in London, everything is very reasonable especially given the portion sizes and the quality. The staff are always really pleasant, they greet you on arrival, we have never had to wait for our table, it's always ready on arrival (I 100% recommend booking in advance due to popularity - although on the one occasion we came on a whim, they signed us up for the next available table and we went to the pub down the road, they texted us when the table was ready - it was all very well organised & smooth!). They offer complimentary popcorn for the table on arrival and also complimentary icecream for dessert as you leave - both lovely and generous touches that make the place feel welcoming, friendly and you really feel like you're getting value for your money with these little thoughtful touches. I have always found the wait staff to be approachable, friendly and knowledgable on the menu - always happy to offer a recommendation, never rush you on your order. Having tried multiple specials, for me personally the standard flat iron steak the offer is still absolutely my favourite, rich in flavour, generous in portion size always arriving cooked as requested and hot! The bone marrow mash & truffle mac & cheese are also a real treat. I can firmly say all the sides are delicious, we have tried them all on different occasions and have come to the conclusion there is nothing bad on the menu. The downside to this place, I admit, is the bathrooms - I have never been when there isn't tissue all over the floors/broken taps .. they could use some serious attention! Bathroom visits aside, this is a great place for a date night or a meal out with friends. Everyone we have taken to flat iron has commented on how plesantly surprised they are, the decor is not pretentious, the service is not smug... everything is down to earth and relaxed except the food that is top quality and seemingly cooked with care.

Our first visit to London and Flat Iron Spitalfields was suggested as a good place to have tea. We were not disappointed. The service and overall experience was exceptional. The meals arrived super fast, and the Scottish Bavette was perfectly cooked with rich flavours I haven't experienced since leaving Australia. Highly recommend this restaurant.

It’s a fairly limited offer if steak frites using the bavette cut often used in France. I think they do it quite well and our steaks were requested rare and arrived perfectly cooked. It’s a business so no surprise that your bill can end up a bit higher than you might initially expect but this is London. Everyone is automatically adding service (I personally disagree with this practice) and here is no different. I thought the portions of sauce that are served weee very small given that you have to pay extra for them but other than that our steaks, chips and creamed spinach were very tasty

Flat Iron Spitalfields’s was recommended by friends as a place I had to visit whilst staying in London and they were not wrong! Visited last night and had not booked but that was no problem, I was advised it was an hours wait, my name and number was taken and I would receive a text. Less than an hour later I received a text, confirmed I was on my way before arriving to one of THE best steak meals I have ever had! I chose the excellent value flat iron steak with beef dripping chips and a green salad. I also chose the flat iron Malbec to drink which was a delicious choice of wine! I order my steak rare which often comes out medium rare in other restraints but not her! The steak was cooked to perfection! It was tender, delicious and melted in mouth, I did not want this meal to end. Staff friendly and efficient, offering help with the menu and the specials The ambience of the restaurant is welcoming and a good atmosphere to enjoy a meal in either on your own or with family and friends. Given a mug of popcorn on arrival but a bit cheeky in that you are charged for it without warning. However you are given a token for a free freshly made vanilla ice cream to walk out the door with so makes for this. Thank you for a delicious meal. and an evening. I will definitely visit a Flat Iron next time I am in London.

Its the BEST!! These ppl really know How to make steak! It melde on your tounge. Its our second visit here, and we always go WOW… They even give u a little ice cream if u handle in the token u get when payng.

To start off we were told we couldn't have any burgers which my wife wanted because of a technical issue. I Ordered the wagyu Sirloin medium rare and it came out blue, the waiter took it back and brought it back 2 minutes later cremated and had obviously had a trip to the local microwave, the waiter took it back and came back 5 minutes later with another blue steak and explained they couldn't cook it any further so it went back. Really poor that a steak restaurant doesn't know how to or can t cook a medium rare steak

Cramped tables (let"s just cram them in) tourist trap of a "restaurant". I'm a local and should've known better. Food was cold and tasted pre--cooked. Chips were cold and retuned twice. One of those places that does all the things you think would elevate a restaurant when you visit it, like so many added touches that make your experience sooooo AMAZING ON TOP OF THE DELICIOUS FOOD!!!! We tried nearly all the sides and they were UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! Food was ok but not brilliant. Two ways you can have your steak done. Well done or medium rare. What?…….. it’s steak place. Shocking. And then and believe me, this is true. “You can have the table for an hour”. Totally unacceptable. The staff are clueless. Not their fault as all service is driven from the top.

Welcomed in and served by the lovely Oliver whom, explained the menu and gave recommendations to our choices; we found the ambiance of the restaurant to be relaxed though busy. The burger was delicious and the steak was very succulent and tasty. The mashed potato with marrowbone; and the creamed spinach made excellent accompaniments. It was the first time I didn’t feel the need to have wine with my meal. The ice cream was very nice and the bill even nicer!! Staff was warm and friendly, will visit again- soon.
