Popped in with a few mates when walking past and wow. The food was top tier and the service was amazing they all had smiles on their faces. Big shout out to the chef for making the food. Top tier food at a good price, no one in the area can compete. Will defo be coming more regularly.

Had from here a few times no problem I really enjoyed but our recent order my hubby had chicken curry and is now in icu in hospital with severe food poisoning thanks city cafe I don't think I will trust from here again

Went there yesterday with my friend the seating is very tight we had a mix grill the lamb chop was really tough the liver was very small I have never had such a small mix grill wouldn’t go back

Went in for breakfast. The food was awesome. Great variety for breakfast. They were willing to make any menu adjustments you want. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend this place

Great traditional East London cafe offering a wide range of food on the menu, From traditional English cuisine to European Continental cuisine. Food is fresh and cooked in fill view of customers. Bright, warm and inviting colours on the interior design. Very spacious seating arrangements that can hold a large group of people. Customer service is friendly with a smile and fantastic. Staff always check back after food has been served to see if everything is to your liking. Always a great experience when dining here.

Terrible! Bad service asked for ketchup to be put in the burger and the chef only put 3 drops. Ordered a maple pancake but it was soggy and burnt. Beans where missing from the english breakfast i ordered and they ofered an 80p refund... A very big waste of £23 !!!!! Because everything went in the bin!!!!

Very bad experience, I saw the guy working there drop a cloth on the floor, and start cleaning a mark on the floor, then with the same cloth start cleaning the side and then clean some dost of the cutlery that's use for the costumers, I payed left never ever to return.... sort it out Ali

Ok food at best I watched 2 of their staff one who works in kitchen(female) the other who takes you're orders ( male in charge or works along side their chef) and preps you're food go outside smoke a cigarette go straight back im without washing their hands and go about their work like normal. It was a mild gloomy mid-January morning as I rocked up to East London’s City Cafe. I turned up tired, hungry and hungover. To say that Bossman sorted me out, freeing me of the aforementioned demons that had put me in an almighty struggle with the world that day would be an understatement. I was served quickly and with a graceful charm. I ordered the vegetarian grill with a 7up whilst my girlfriend ordered the chicken curry and a Ribena, we shared chips. Although the eatery was busy, our food arrived promptly and the portions were greater than Heung-Min Son’s ‘Asian Player of the Year’ trophy cabinet. Pretty damn big. Our food was delicious. I went from a state of being 95% hangover to 15% within a matter of minutes. Sheer joy. Bossman knows how to please. It has almost been 3 weeks since this life-affirming experience and I am honestly still reeling from it. On my next trip to E2 I will attend for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The thought of trying one of my all-time favourite culinary delights, the cheese omelette, at City Café enthuses me greatly. Bossman you more than delivered.

This cafe has gone down in my estimations. Quite a few of us have stopped going in there. I just want to make it clear it's not really the food or the staff as such. Their prices are a joke, every week they seem to change depending on who serves you. One of our party gets the same thing every week and always gets charged differently price going up not down?? £9.50 for a breakfast and a cuppa is a joke. Plenty of other cafes around that we can go to thankfully. Shame cause we've been going in there for years. Bye bye city cafe 2.

Staying at the Re London Shoreditch and wanted somewhere reasonable for breakfast. Cafe 2 is 1 min away. Very friendly and welcoming and the quantity and quality of the food is excellent. Had breakfast 2 mornings there.

Very friendly traditional 'greasy spoon' cafe, with quite a wide menu of main dishes as well as every combination of cooked breakfast ingredients.

We visited with two good friends who live close by. It was a Sunday afternoon, not busy, and it felt like it was part of the community as soon as we walked in. Very friendly, both the staff and other diners. The owners knew their clientele and treated them like friends, it was a very warm welcome. We had a mixture of brunch, roast and late breakfast. Everything was very good – my simple sausage, bacon, fries as simply perfect. The bacon tender and tasty, sausage perfect and crisp, no grease and fries hot and nicely done. A good cappuccino to go with it. It is no frills, seating a bit tight (my only complaint) with a screen showing the live game at the other end to us. If I lived close by I would be in here a lot. Clearly well maintained and spotlessly clean, it is a treat.

Few hiccups but fresh food most times. Does the job for the belly on Sundays.

How is possible being so rude when someone is in panic for a bathroom at 9AM and everything is close around on Sunday and I asked in a civilize way and explain I was in panic with a strong pain on my stomach and if was possible to go quick to the bath and they refuse and invite to leave the Cafe. Lucky after 10 minutes another cafe open on a corner 1/2 minutes walk and they were really kind and I finish taking an amazing breakfast. This place just lost a customer with this behaviour. From now I'll not pop anymore. I found a really nice spot and the best thing is I live in front of your cafe. So you lost a potencial customer! Shame service

Paying £13.95 at a hotel I was staying in for an awful breakfast I was delighted to find this little gem just down the road!! I was in London 5 days and after that first morning... Ditched the hotel in favour of perfect poached eggs, toast and bacon with a milky coffee to send me on my 40 min walk into the city for work! Great service, happy customers, clean and bright and good honest hearty cooking! Thank you guys! Il be sure to come back when I visit again!!

Fancied lunch up at my local cafe, and as always get greeted with a smile and a hello. Plenty of food on the menu, resonably priced. Had the gammon grill and a mug of tea. Straight forward and simple. Well cooked food every time I go there. Definitely recommend going.

Went in here looking for a simple bacon butty and a pot of tea mid morning. Was greeted warmly and offered seating and the menu. I could not find what I wanted on the menu so had something else but then saw somebody else coming in and getting a bacon butty to take away, probably my own fault for not asking but then again, why was this option not on their menu.
