Whilst you can applaud the charitable cause, as a cafe the First Light is "OK" but nothing special, sorry

Lovely coffee. Most of the staff are lovely. The scones are the best in Scarborough by a country mile. The cakes are lovely. All freshly baked. If I was to give constructive criticism I would prefer some quiet background music as everyone can hear what you’re saying. Also wi-fi would be good for those of us who come in on our own and use the time to catch up on emails etc. I understand people may stay longer taking up a table if there’s wi-fi but you can restrict it to 20-30 mins free. Many businesses do.

First light Trust supports veterans of all ages. If you have been a veteran or worked/working in Emergency Services you get a discount. I love this cafe as the staff & customers are very friendly. I go at least once every time I visit Scarborough. They offer drinks & cakes - all homemade. There are no sandwiches or hot meals. Whilst there you can read books they have on tables & buy them if you like at 50p for paperback or £1 for hardback. Next door they have a charity shop. They also do lots of fundraising. I absolutely love this place. They are accessiblity friendly too. I’ve seen them move furniture to make sure people can get in & out easily. They can’t do enough to help.

First visit. First impression delightful location. Extremely poor / processed quality food (not uncommon with many cafes/tea shops). Very small slice of cake and eclair with equally small dollop ice cream, cup of tea and mug coffee cost £12.70. As with the venue people seem nice. Accept dogs (which is great). Suggest review and improve quality of food and presentation. Leaving a used cigarette ashtray on table not indicative of professional service.

Every visit to Scarborough we have a meal at this restaurant. We have never been disappointed. The food and service is always first class. We had the fish dishes after having had very tasty starters.
