Having visited this outlet prior to operation under the Filmore & Union brand, and been very satisfied, we decided to try it again for lunch. The menu had some interesting and unusual choices, Orders were taken at the table and we waited a short while for a staff member to arrive. When the food arrived the quality and quantity were very good. Overall, the environment was pleasant and in comparative terms, we would rate our visit as "Good" if possible on Tripadvisor

This branch of Filmore & Union is based on the second floor of the Redbrick Mill. The pleasant atmosphere and attractive decor in the high ceilinged room together with the cake display enticed us in for a light lunch. Our BLT ciabatta was super tasty and the sourdough toast and poached eggs were also of high quality. Two excellent coffees completed our enjoyable lunch.

Quirky restaurant in Redbrick Mill. Waited to be seated while staff finished chatting and then told we could sit anywhere. Interesting and different menu. Well presented but poorly seasoned and lacking taste. Guacamole appeared to be mashed avocado which isn’t guacamole. Nice beer. Not cheap.

The restaurant is very nice well presented and clean. The food is nicely served and quite tasty, but it’s quite expensive for a cafe in a shopping area. I have only been twice and the last time was for lunch, but it cost around thirty pounds for two of us. A lot of things on the menu were over £8, which makes it quite expensive. There is a really nice area outside to sit in the summer time, so they have plenty of seating area. I like the place and the food, it’s just the prices which I find quite expensive. If you want something more than just a sandwich, then it’s the place to go, and the deserts are very nice too.

Our order was taken quite quickly but they failed to deliver the cakes at the same time, my husbands came and I waited and waited whilst 3 waitresses talked in a group by the till. One girl was playing with her long hair - where are the health and safety rules and food hygiene? I tried to attract their attention to no a avail so had to go to the counter to ask for my cake. Pleasant surroundings and I have to say the gluten free cake was lovely but the visit was not memorable for the right reasons.

Visited here with family on a thursday evening, with the age varying from 1year old onwards. I have heard and read the mixed reviews but thought we would give it a go. We had a variety of meals from breakfast items to burgers. All food was well presented, colourfull and flavourful. Service was surprisingly good as well as there was only 1 waiter on duty, so the chef helped bring the food to our table, he had great knowledge of the company and also the food he was serving which was great also he was very passionate. All in all a fantastic dining experience for all.

Went here for breakfast, the staff are pleasant and welcoming and the open plan seating is fine. We had pancakes which were genuinely made to order, lovely and fluffy and covered with Greek yoghurt, berries and fruit compote and were delicious. Our only criticism is the coffee wasn't great, very weak, could have stood and extra shot and wasn't hot enough, in fact barely lukewarm. We would have stopped to have another coffee but didn't want another of the same.

Came in for a quick lunch whilst shopping, I got a chicken bagel and partner got the steak bagel. Both bagels were cold and untoasted and partner only got the bottom half of his bagel! Because of this it was extremely dry, I asked for mayo and they don't serve it. There was also a very small amount of chicken and steak in either. The brownie was good but for two bagels, a coffee, a tea and a brownie to share I do think £30 is extortionate.

We have been Sunday morning regulars to F&U; in Redbrick because the food was excellent. Quality stuff, and strong coffee. Then, one Sunday in June, something had gone terribly wrong. We sensed a problem when we went in, and observed several incidences of wrong food being delivered, food being sent back, etc. We order Humous Eggs. Normally delicious, this day they were very disappointing. The side dish of bacon didn't looked cooked and laid there like two strips of fat. It was normally crispy. When we complained, the waitress explained that that was how bacon was to be from now on, unless crispy was requested. She also mentioned something about a trainee chef. Anyway, it wasn't very good at all, and we were given a Lemon and Elderflower drink as compensation for our disappointment.

Being veggies we opted for a chick pea burger and a bagel with butternut squash etc. When the food arrived it was bland and the burger had more sweetcorn in it then anything else . The cashew nut dip was naff , the only good thing on this plate was the 5 sweet potato wedges. As for the bagel, it was stone cold, no flavor again not worth the money in any shape or form. We've eaten here a few times over the last few years when visiting the brilliant red brick mill. The previous two times the food was poor and the service was atrocious. It looked like the menu had improved significantly since my last visit, and some thought had been given to the dishes. The food turned up really quite quickly which was good (chicken escalope wrap, turkey burger, childs pizza) as I had two young kids with me. I don't know how they managed it but the food was the blandest I've eaten in a restaurant. Every element was completely wrong and unseasoned. Salads with no real dressing. Pizzas are tortilla wrap, Tom puree and cheddar. If I got this in a cheap cafe I wouldn't complain but they're charging restaurant prices. On paying the bill we were given the wrong tables bill (which I had to point out) and when given the right bill they'd added an extra pizza to the receipt. This place could be really good, they just need to focus on the food and not on the menu and decor.

I had a glass of wine which again was good my wife had tea. The bill £33 +. Last week I ate at the Petite French in Chester 1 x 2 courses 1 x 3 course half a litre of decent red wine £43. The first two times we visited, the food was nice, good service, etc etc. Then we had afternoon tea which was served on boards rather than the cake stands. The food was poor, meagre and hard to eat off the boards and certainly not worth the money. The table was too small to accomodate everything, the next time we visited, I found a hair in my food, they knocked off the price of my meal which is fair but spoiled the occasion. We visited again this week, incredibly slow service, only one waitress, we had to ask three times for glasses of water and for salt and pepper, when it came the salt pot was empty and we noticed that most of them on other tables were also empty. The food was dry, not much taste and completely under seasoned. £13 for a dry tastless turkey burger, plus not much choice for vegans. We love the idea of Filmore and Union and don't mind paying for good food, unfortunately, the reality at this cafe doesn't live up to expectations. We have given them the benefit of the doubt on a number of occasions but will now eat elsewhere and maybe try F&U; again in a few months, by which time they hopefully will have got their act together and produce quality food and good service once again.

We went for lunch with our two children, before we sat down we checked they did a kids menu, there were things on the menu they would eat so we took a seat. My youngest ordered an apple juice, when it arrived it was freshly pressed which is great, unless you're four and you don't want a juice to have a foam on top. It looked horrid and more like a smoothie. We ordered him beans on toast and we all had bagels. When the beans came out they were homemade, which is super again unless you're 4 and you are expecting beans - normal Heinz beans! When parents go out with kids they want to relax too and not have to deal with a toddler who is totally disappointed with his lunch. If you're going to make homemade beans then this should be on the menu, don't just put beans on toast it is totally misleading. In fact this place should not offer a kids menu. Our bagels were bland and I've had better from Bagel Nash on my lunch hour. They were £8 each and were totally overpriced for what they were. The girl that served us looked like she couldn't care less about making our visit enjoyable. It was all just very annoying, this place was far too concerned about its image and not about creating a nice lunch experience, and getting the basics right.

I had not quite realised that this was a sort of health food place. The reception and service was ok but nothing outstanding. The coffee was ok. Told that all the cakes were gluten free - the one I tried was not exactly inspiring and felt very heavy in texture. Nothing on the substantive menu appealed to me and at their premium prices I was not tempted to experiment. I suppose its a bit like marmite you either like it or you dont. I dont and hold the view the cafe that used to be in this spot offered customers far more choice at greater value. At least I wont be tempted to make the same mistake by crossing the portals of their other outlets.

I spoke to the manager on the way out and he asked us to go back in and he would look after us, but it was too late. I appreciate it was a bank holiday but as I said earlier there were several empty tables so the service should have been quicker or there should be more staff. The cheery waitresses looked after us fine and the waiter was most attentive. A great reason to pay an extra visit to Redbrick.

Not up to F&U;'s usual York standard.

Having been a regular visitor to most other local F&U; restaurants was very keen to try the new restaurant at Redbrick Mill complex as it will be the nearest to my home location, what a lovely space but still with the familiar touches that make it their own. We visited their first week on a late night Thursday evening we were greeted by their General Manager who explained the menu and left us to mull over our choices, a lovely young waitress took our drinks and food order which arrived promptly and served in usual colourful style, we had a mix of burgers and a Bench Press which were all delicious served with sweet potato wedges, desserts of brownies and blondes were too difficult to resist. The service and food were as always excellent. So happy to now have a local F&U; within easy driving distance!

We have visited all the F&U; restaurants and couldn't wait to visit the new restaurant at Red Brick Mills. We visited on Saturday for breakfast and we were not disappointed. The egg white omelette is really tasty, I would recommend it. The staff were very welcoming. The manager took time to chat to us about the new restaurant as we were the first customers who arrived for breakfast. We always take our dog to F&U; and we like the fact that it is so dog friendly. We will definitely be visiting again.

Just arrived home from Mozzarellas. It was our 58th wedding anniversary and we decided to celebrate it with a meal. It was absolutely gorgeous, I had the seafood pasta and my husband had the Sea Bass. Both meals were delicious and the service was fantastic. Thank you . Tony Dreda and Rory the dog. See you as usual on Sunday x

Do not trust. I was overcharged and did not realise until I got home. Have sent a couple emails and no response. Very poor customer service. Incredibly frustrating.

Not too bad, food was ok and the place was clean, although service could be better. Maybe a little refresher on customer service?

We had the ice cream delivered to our home, it was gorgeous. There were quite a few flavours to choose from. I was surprised how scrumptious it tasted.
