Never stopping here again. Rude owners/managers, live music was a joke, pints the most expensive in the village and food just not fit for consumption. How you can argue when the food is clearly undercooked is beyond me.

We stopped eating at this local pub over a year ago as the standard was low. We used to enjoy the curry night but bhaji’s were always burnt, boiled chicken added to the tikka masala was noted. It seemed that the pride of fresh cooking was lost. We have recently dropped by to meet friends and have been absolutely appalled at the attitude of the male manager. He takes no pride in pulling a pint and literally throws you an over poured pint. I observed that he can’t pull a two pour pint of Guinness and his rudeness to tourists and unknown locals like ourselves is absolutely unforgivable. With a don’t give a damn attitude like his I am not surprised that many locals avoid this pub.

Arrived at around 6pm asked if space for 5 + child in high chair to which I was told there was Ordered drinks and food simultaneously and the food came out suspiciously quickly after the drinks Tucked in only to find the formed scampi was mushy and watery inside with un appetising soggy chips especially as the coleslaw had gone runny and leached into them. Complained and had changed to a burger that was OK. However having been several times before myself and family feel standard's have dropped significantly since the new management have taken over.

We ate at the Farmers last year, and the food was reheated to the point it was dry and hard. The extra gravy didn't help with the pie. We went back this year in the hope things may have improved but they haven't. Curry of the day was edible but obviously not homemade but my partners Lasagne was reheated, dry, and a quarter of it was burnt and inedible. It's such a shame as it's the local to many that have caravans and holiday homes in St. Merryn. We definitely won't be going back!

£100 parking fine and we spent 45 mins having a drink. I certainly didn't see any signage on the way in to the car park (I came from Harlyn direction). POPLA appeal was of no use either, as they dismissed my evidence of inadequate signage by stating that others in the pub at the same time as me had registered their vehicle (yes, probably locals "in the know", or people who have had to learn the hard way by getting fined?!). Before visiting I had even checked the Farmers Arms website, and on the front page it clearly states the parking is free!! Seriously misled by this out of date information. No warning within the pub by staff or signage either. Looking at other poor reviews for this pub, I can see I'm not the first to be stung like this. Wouldn't be surprised if the pub are on commission from Civil Enforcement. Certainly won't ever go here again based on principle.

We popped in for lunch - it was utterly dire. I’ve had great lasagnes, and I’ve had poor ones, but I’ve never had anything like this one! Congealed, with a grey meaty sludge at the bottom, and almost tasteless. A tablespoonful of bought in coleslaw, and a few lank leaves did nothing to put lipstick on this particular pig! Oh, and it was vastly overpriced. My wife had the soup…vegetable but tasteless with no evidence of seasoning. Sadly, pubs are closing all over the UK - on what we experienced the Farmers’ Arms deserves to join the list.

If tales of tavern glory and culinary conquests tickle your fancy, then fasten your seatbelts. We’re taking a detour to The Farmers Arms in St Merryn, where the atmosphere is as rich as their gravy (more on that later). 🍽️ Strategically positioned at a crossroads that’s more popular than a sunny spot on a chilly day, this gem doesn’t just face a petrol station; it stands as a testament to good food, great company, and an even greater welcome. And let's not forget its prime location across from that tempting fish & chip shop. It's like the universe conspired to bring all good things together at one junction. Parking's a breeze, thanks to their futuristic ANPR system. Just don't forget to register your carriage upon arrival, or you might find yourself with a magical slip of paper demanding gold. 🚙✨ Dog aficionados, rejoice! The Farmers Arms could well be the utopia you’ve been dreaming of. Here, dogs aren’t just allowed; they’re celebrated. Fancy a sleepover? Their B&B rooms are ready to pamper your pooch. Imagine that – a pub that loves your dog as much as you do. 🐕‍🦺 Waltzing in for lunch is as easy as pie, but when it comes to dinner, and especially their legendary Sunday Carvery, making a reservation is as essential as seasoning in cooking. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this feast. Ah, the Sunday Carvery. It was Mothering Sunday when our party of 14 descended upon this culinary haven, each dish served was a testament to the chefs' dedication and skill. And yes, while I navigate the tricky seas of potato starch intolerance, the team at The Farmers Arms navigated it with me. Though the gravy was off-limits (crafted with the usual potato starch), the chefs kindly whipped up some fresh rice. And when it came to the cauliflower cheese, extra cheese sauce on my plate made for a delightful substitute. 🧀 About the Yorkshire Pudding – while tales of its enormity have been greatly exaggerated (by me, in a previous telling), let me set the record straight: it was a perfectly normal size but crafted with such skill that it felt like a feast in its own right. Meats? Oh, the meats. Asking for a bit of each – beef, turkey, and gammon – I was presented with a bounty fit for royalty. Each slice was a masterpiece: tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. Accompanied by a hearty selection of fresh vegetables, the meal was a symphony of flavours, a true celebration of farm-to-table freshness. In summary, The Farmers Arms is not just a pub; it's a slice of paradise for food lovers, dog enthusiasts, and anyone in between. With its heartwarming atmosphere and culinary prowess, it’s a beacon of joy in Cornwall. I’m already plotting my return to this bastion of delight and highly recommend you do the same. For those in search of joy, a full belly, and perhaps a new favorite spot, look no further than The Farmers Arms. Your table awaits! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The food was amazing, decor was cozy and warm, and the staff were as friendly as ever. I would absolutely recommend. 2 year update: Not much has physically changed. It still seems warm and cozy inside. However, the menu has substantially diminished and the food tasted like every other pub kitchen. Whilst on holiday in Trevone we passed this little pub on a day out, so we decided the following evening to go there for a meal. The daughter booked us a table for 6 of us, and we had two dogs as well( which were welcome). Upon entering the pub we had to watch our heads as it's an old building and obviously low beams but was really cosy inside with a lovely old fashioned cooking range in the fireplace. After we sat down at our table the staff were very friendly and professional, they told us about the new menu and also about the new Thursday night Pizza challenge which one of my grandsons decided to go for ( eat as much pizza as you can for a fixed one if price, once you finish a pizza you order your next one if you can manage it and eat that, keep going until you can't eat no more, and at the mo 16 slices is the most, my grandson managed 13, not bad for a 12yr old, so his name is on the leaderboard) . We ordered out meals and was amazed at the portion size, which was excellent value for money, and the chips were second to non. All in all a very enjoyable meal and a wonderful atmosphere ( and a very busy place too) and we was disappointed that we would only be there the once as we were heading home the day after, but rest assured that then next ti ever are in the area on holiday we will definitely be calling back for more Many thanks to the staff for a wonderful meal and drinks. I had the pizza which was stone baked and fully loaded. Yummy. Our wonderful waitress Kelly was amazing and really looked after us, she was so friendly and welcoming as we're the other staff. I have used this premises many times over the last 9 years where parking was never a problem. I went there on July the 2nd 2023 and had a meal with my son. Unknown to me the business had changed its parking arrangements which meant I was required to register my car as being in the car park for legitimate reasons, but like many others I suspect, did not observe the tiny signs confirming this requirement, so was completely oblivious to this new ruling. I must stress that when I ordered my meal no staff members appraised me of this new parking arrangement. The meal I ordered cost approx. £47.00 but following the fine, I received a further £170.00 in parking fines. The meal was average and was not worth £217.00. This review has been posted due to the fact that when I was aware of the fine I contacted the Farmers Arms on 3 occasions to resolve this but I never had anyone call me back. I paid the fine as I did not want to get a bad credit record. When I attended on that date there were only 6 other cars in the car park, which could probably accommodate up to 50 cars. The issue of persons using this car park for parking to attend other premises in the area was not an issue as this was outside of the busy holiday period. For me this a clear example of no one wanting to look at this from a common sense point of view and my opinion now is that the Framers Arms are using this new approach as a way of generating other income streams as it does not respect and value customers who have supported them over an extended period of time. I will not be attending this premises ever again and will advise all of my friends and family to avoid going there due to my experience. If you do go to this premises please ensure that you do log your car details with staff so you do not have to endure the same experience I have had to go through.

I have written one review previously. However, after now having to fight a parking charge notice after following all requirements of parking g there and spending nearly a hundred quid I have to add a warning if this unscrupulous parking company ruining this eating experience. You only have to enter your car reg which I did and witnessed by my family. They won’t even pass me the evidence. Now facing civil action. Sorry Farmer’s Arms. Lovely food, great service. Ruined by Civil Enforcement’Ltd’.

The lunch was awful!! We should have complained- I feel the chips on all meals were not freshly cooked & also the vegetable chilli was dried up and didn’t look appetising at all. Overall, a poor experience.

We stayed at the Farmers Arms for a few days whilst visiting friends. Food was fantastic, especially the breakfast. Staff were very helpful checking in and throughout the stay. The room was very comfortable and quiet as well as exceptionally clean. Be careful with the parking….despite registering our car on the terminal in the pub, the car parking firm (nothing to do with the pub) tried to fine us various amounts. The staff at the pub were very helpful in getting that issue resolved. In future I will take a photo on my phone of the confirmation message on screen to use as evidence.

Four of us had a really good meal. I had the chicken burger with a side of sweet potato fries and onion rings, came piping hot and the burger was excellent, clearly made with a lot of care and everything was piping hot. The other diners in my party had the moo and ale pie, the vegan burger, the whitebait and the rainbow salad. Beware that servings are huge but we just about managed to fit in dessert - the brownie sundae was really good too! This is proper (and delicious) pub grub in hearty portions and at a reasonable price point

What a great pub, the signs informing us about parking were everywhere on entering the car park and on entering the pub, the staff were very friendly and always helpful, I ordered the fish and chips which was amazing. Will be back 10 out of 10 🫶xx

Like many others, we were unaware that you paid for parking at rear of pub ……..very poor signage. We received a £100 fine in post today! Restaurant/pub owners need to realise that when they use unscrupulous private companies they are actually damaging their own businesses....

Myself and my husband had the steak pie and it was awful, for a start portion sizes were ridiculous, meat around the edges was just about black and crusty and meat was also chewy, lots of fat and gristle, gravy inside pie was like jelly...

Stopped for lunch on way to Penrose. Lovely little traditional pub on the high street. We had soft drinks and ordered salads. The salads were enormous and very filling. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would thoroughly recommend.
