I have been to the Moocafe a few times now and each time I am disappointed. The service is very very slow. Myself, baby and friend were sent to a table, I had to then get my own high chair from a pile of them at the back of the restaurant. Every single high chair was dirty which I then had to wipe down with my baby wipes before putting my baby in it otherwise he would have been covered in food from the previous child sitting in it. 2 further families were sat down on the tables either side of us. Both of which had their orders taken and drinks and food brought to them before anybody had even been back to our table to take the order. The girl who took the order I can only assume was new as didn’t know the menu and had to keep going away to ask questions to her colleagues, for example what coffee syrups did you have. I ordered the small full English breakfast which states it comes with ‘egg’. I ordered my breakfast and then my drink. I then asked how is the egg serviced and she stated I could have it any way I want. I had to prompt her for my option of how I wanted my eggs cooking, I don’t know what it would have come like as standard without out asking. She didn’t offer me any toast which would have been a good upsell for her. Our food then arrived even before the coffee arrived which is just around poor service. We sat for a while after we had finished our dinner and had to stop a waitress to ask to order more drinks. The drinks then arrived and we had to ask for our empty plates that we had already stacked to help, to be cleared away. I have returned since my last disappointing visit in the hope it would have improved or that it was a one off poor experience however unfortunately not. I now wont be returning

We decided to go for breakfast, but we just missed it so the lunchtime menu had started at 11.30. The waitress was lovely and said you could still order bacon or sausage sandwiches. So we asked for 2 coffees, 2 bacon sandwiches with tomatoes…. £28.80! We asked the waitress to break it down for us: £8.00 for a bacon sandwich and £2.50 for a spoonful of tomatoes, absolutely ridiculous! We should have just walked out, we won’t be returning.

We've been going here for years and it's really gone downhill. Such a shame as has obviously has become all about making as much money as possible and you really feel that through out. For somewhere that claims, and prides itself on good quality, farm produce it really doesn't live up too expectations. Im not a food sender backer and even for me I couldn't eat ice cold breakfast, then a second attempt came out with uncooked eggs (literally raw it was gross!). If you fancy lunch at a farm cafe may advice is find a much smaller local cafe that hasn't got too big for it's muddy boots!

Visited with a friend for the first time yesterday. The staff who served us were all really friendly and helpful. Once our order was taken, our server asked if we would like to pay now. I was a bit taken aback, but said Yes, and we paid there and then. They must be concerned that their customers will do a runner!! 😂. The menu has a good selection, but prices are on the high side. I had a chicken club sandwich which came with horrible veg crisps and some plain undressed leaves. Some coleslaw would have been good. The sandwich was very nice, but at £11, I wouldn’t say it was value for money. We spent £29 on 2 sandwiches, 1 cloudy lemonade and 1 sparkling water. Service was great, food was ok, and prices are not value for money. I wouldn’t rush back.

I visited the Moo Cafe today for lunch with my wife and two grandsons, the cafe was very busy but we were seated quickly and our order taken quickly. My wife and one grandson had pulled pork loaded fries, which they said was ok, I had the “cluck” chicken burger with skin on fries and the other grandson had a beef burger with fries. The burgers came with two onion rings, it would have been more accurate to call them oil rings, they were dripping in cooking oil so much so it left a pool of oil on the serving board and ruined any taste of the onion rings, my chicken burger was thrown together, the actual burger was half burned and the other half cooked normally the tomato jam was laid down the side of the brioche not in the bun, similar with the beef burger. Also the table wasn’t clean, the knife and fork wasn’t clean, I don’t know where but my trousers were filthy at the back of the knee when I got home, it must have come from the seat. Not a great experience and I thought it was expensive for the quality. To finish on a positive the deserts were not bad, staff were friendly if a little slow clearing the table, but in there defence it was busy

The quality of the food has really gone downhill. My bacon was literally raw. My egg was pale yellow very old beans were cold. Coffee cups half full. And to top it off the music was so loud and overbearing. This is not needed at 8.30 in the morning. Mrs Copley was strutting around in her shorts… I did notice she wasn’t eating that rubbish in the moo cafe. Whoever is cooking breakfast need to up their game. Stop using old out of date eggs. For a farm cafe this is appalling. The farm shop had very little in there. In all fairness the butchers did look very nice. But I will not be going again it’s rubbish. Flavours cafe in Castleford serve much more good quality food for much less. And their eggs are orange so fresh. Bacon cooked properly.

4 of us attended for afternoon tea, priced at £20 per person. Afternoon tea is something the 4 of us enjoy monthly, trying new places in and around Yorkshire. Today marked our 12th afternoon tea and we decided to stay local - big mistake. The worst and most over priced afternoon tea we have had to date. The bread for the sandwiches was incredibly dry, this wouldn’t have been so bad if we had been offered a refill on our cups of tea (we weren’t, despite being advertised as unlimited). The quiche was palatable but bland and the Battenberg was dry and crumbly as was the scone. The scones were only available with current in (which isn’t the end of the world but it’s nice to be able to choose!) The vanilla slice was the only saving grace (although did have a distinct taste of ‘fridge’ as though it had been stored and not covered - if you know the taste you know!!). It was however, somewhat enjoyable but did not make up for the £20 pp cost! Especially when the same vanilla slice was priced at £3.50 in the farm shop and double the size. Overall, our worst afternoon tea to date. Poor food, poor service (despite many members of staff being present) and severely over priced. Save your money and avoid! Much nicer places out there for afternoon tea at competitive prices - farmer copleys no longer seems like a nice local business but a corporate money making campaign. There is no way that afternoon tea was worth a total of £80. Oh, on a positive note, plenty of parking (probably because the restaurant was so empty - I wonder why!?).

Over the last few months i have been here 4 times. We had the afternoon tea on one occasion to celebrate a birthday. The afternoon tea wasn’t as good as last year. The scones were very dry, the sandwiches didn’t seem fresh as the bread was dry. The cakes we received were not as advertised. My Dad whose birthday we were celebrating didn’t enjoy the food and ate very little. I have been here before for coffee & cake which is overpriced but nice. Fixed bag. I still don’t understand if you are meant to just go take a seat or wait to be seated. I thought you waited but others push past and just sit down. Its local to my family so easy meet up point but i live in Leeds and far better places about in my area.

Arrived about 2pm for a coffee/snack/late lunch. Was seated after a 5 minute wait or so. No cutlery or menus were on our table so we had to ask for it which was provided after a further 5 mins or so. After a further 10 or 15 minutes no one had come to take our order so we tried to use the "app" only to find that the items we wanted weren't on there. We asked 3 separate staff members if someone could come take our order but no one came to do so for an additional 5 or 10 minutes. Eventually, after 20 minutes or so someone came to take our order and asked for payment before we received our food. Some items came out nearly immediately after our server left our table, some of us had food without drinks, some drinks without food and some got neither. It was just so strange and disorganized. What we did order was very overpriced for what we received. The rarebit we ordered was melted in one small corner but otherwise completely un-melted and clap cold, really poor. The milkshake "made with house made gelato" was fairly warm when it arrived and tasted like it was just milk and cheap milkshake syrup like crusha. It was a really really disappointing visit and at over £40 I expected much better. We won't be back for a second visit.

First thing we noticed about this place is how overpriced it was eg £12.99 for a burger without chips, they cost an extra £3.99. We went for a birthday lunch so instead we all ordered an afternoon tea. The bread in the sandwiches was dry, hardly any butter to keep the sandwich together, thick slabs of dry meat with nothing to add flavour, there was a pile of lettuce with no dressing. Quiche was nice, cakes were mediocre, no Victoria sponge as written on the menu, macaroons were like cake instead of lite and delicate. Scone was dry. It does come with bottomless tea and coffee and the service was good. Sadly they completely messed the bill up and we were over charged by £30, they had taken payments from 2 of our party but did not minus this from the bill. Tried to speak to them about it and they could not see that they had gone wrong with the bill. We decided to all pay an extra £5 each and leave no tip, as what we were saying was just falling on deaf ears. Unfortunately I will not go again and will not advise anyone else to go

Would have been a 4 or 5 rating based on previous visits and meals, apart now for the breakfast portions suffering from shrinkflation. noticable now with small portion size at same cost, black pudding side portion on slice only at the same previous price as 2 slices. Although quailty is still good the portion reductions now unfortunatley bring into question the value for money.

Lovely cafe/restaurant with great decor. Prices are very very expensive though. Seems all farm shops are getting this way. Menu had lots of choice. Kids meals were great, my wife had steak pie and mash which was lovely. I had the burger….that came with 2 onion rings for £12.99. I wrongly assumed they’d be chips with it - was told they had to be ordered as an extra for £3.99. Come on….need to be ordered extra with a starting price at £12.99 for a burger!! Ridiculous. Onion rings were lovely and crisp but burger unfortunately was nothing special. If I’d had chips that would have been £16.98 for a burger and chips. Sirloin steak and chips was £16.99! Insane, will pass on the burger if we save up enough to return.

Our first visit after hearing good reviews about the place. We hadn't booked and although they were busy they managed to seat us straight away. Service was slow and we were waiting 25 minutes just for our drinks after ordering via the app. We all had breakfasts. The food was luke warm but consisted of good quality bacon and sausages (which you would expect) and the bread for the toast was lovely. The eggs were over cooked though, yolks hard and whites rubbery. We asked for fresh eggs which when arrived weren't much better.Other than the man who seated us who was very nice, the rest of the staff seemed very solemn. For the cost of the visit we expected more.

I honestly don’t know where to start… I went to the cafe with my near 4yr old, we were sat at a table opposite each other, we arrived around 1.30pm and there were plenty of tables with seats next to each other, which would have been much better for a dad / toddler (I should have said something). I ordered scampi for me, and my daughter asked for fish and chips, so the kids fish fingers it was! Service was quick, but flat, no conversation, barely a smile, the place was fairly empty. The food, in summary, was mostly completely inedible. I ate the scampi, it was so so, but the chips on both our plates’ were black in places, greasy / oily, and floppy. My daughter’s fish fingers were disgusting, the breaded outer was rock solid, so I opened it up and the fish slid out as a solid square, it was equally as hard, clearly reheated and not fresh. My daughter isn’t a picky girl, but she just pulled a face and refused any of it. We left after about 20 minutes, nobody asked how the meal was. It’s expensive, making the whole thing unforgivable. I don’t get too upset with poor food for me, but to serve that to a toddler is a disgrace. I don’t know what’s happened to the place, I’ve been numerously over the years and it’s generally been ‘alright’. As an aside, we went in the shop and my daughter insisted on me buying her a jellycat teddy, which was £18.50, on getting home I got a real ear bashing from the wife, who informed me that the one we’d bought was £14 on the jellycat site and everywhere else… Copleys used to be a proper farm shop, and a little cafe where they were passionate about the food, now it just exploits those silly enough to go it seems.Never again!

Superb. I had fish and chips, husband steak pie. Delicious. The battered Friday fish (haddock) was perfect, chips were home-made and mushy peas great. Steak pie (husband said) was lovely with big chunks of quality steak. Very reasonable, service outstanding and the place so pleasant.Went to the shop afterwards and this was equally as nice. Can only advise the negative comments to give it another try, it really was very, very good.

Breakfast: Lots of staff but took some time to order. Food and coffee poor quality. Nearly £30 for 2. Bacon and cheese omelette looked airy but was bazarrely hard, bacon grey looked like off ham, basic shop bagged salad, considering on a farm. Avocado and eggs were bland and cool considering it had lumps of lemon zest and almonds, eggs were cooked well but cool, sourdough toast was only tasty piece of whole experience. It got very busy we couldn't understand why. Bland rubbery food, mocha tasted like hot water with powdery cocoa nearly £4. Staff attitude basic. Seats grubby and hard. Made a complaint, the girl apologised asked could she get us something else or a drink but there was no way we were risking it.

I’ve been here a couple of times over the last couple of months and have been a little bit disappointed. I have visited numerous times over the years but it seems to have lost its sparkle. The service consists of ordering via the app or trying to wave at someone to take your order which takes ages to get any attention. There seems to be lots of staff but many just messing around with cutlery. I appreciate we live in covid times but the current situation isn’t great for the customer. The food is only average (it used to be fantastic) and Sunday lunch has been served cold (really cold) both times. The food is obviously preprepared and sat under hot plates as it’s also a little on the hard and chewy side. The roast potatoes were not good and pretty much inedible. I also noticed that the restaurant wasn’t busy when we went which is really unusual as it’s normally full. Standards seemed to have slipped which is a real shame as it’s been a favourite of mine for a long time. Please make it great again!

We live locally and pre-covid came here nearly every week (sometimes more!). However, it has gone downhill, beyond what could be excused for trying to recover from the pandemic. The online ordering isn't accurate - you can't order the specials on there and the little farmers sandwich on the online menu can't be ordered from the staff. Service is quite slow and they generally seem under-staffed.The toilets are looking worn now and not very clean, though the rest of the decor is still good and its a fabulous-looking cafe. The hot beef sandwich special was cold, and the egg mayo sandwich came without crisps.Despite prices going up, quality, service and cleanliness has gone down. I really hope it can be brought back to pre-covid standards as it was so good! In the meantime I'm afraid we'll be going further afield to better places.

It was overly salty, the steak was tough and the cheese was far too thick. It might had been edible had the cheese been melted but it was just stone cold thick cheese on top of my steak which was claggy and sticky in my mouth.

Went today for breakfast, 2 adults and 2 kids, food and drinks came to almost £60 which I could not believe but thought ok, must be good. How wrong was I.....Large breakfast came out Luke warm, mushrooms were actually cold. Sons was the same on his small breakfast. We left these and after 45mins sat there with dirty plates the girl took our plate and never said a word and didn't even ask if everything was ok.My partner had poached eggs and avocado and her eggs were rock hard and Luke warm.Extremely disappointed, I would not recommend and I won't be going there again. The farm shop is excellent, as was the pumpkin picking and associated stalls and traders, but the prices are all very very high. I was charged £6 for a coffee and hot chocolate by a girl stood eating a sausage sandwich while she served me, chewing her food and asking for my order at the same time. She had bread and red sauce on her bottom lip as she spoke to me too, truly disgusting.

We have visited twice since I last reviewed Moo Cafe, both times for breakfast. First time was socially distanced seating, last time wasn’t and now quite crowded. As we visited on a Sunday, probably more busy anyway. Met at the door and shown to seat and asked to order via app if possible. Found that you can’t use app if you want Gluten-free food. Ordered food having been told that we had a hour at the table when we walked in. Food and drinks came relatively quickly but served almost like ‘there it is’ as it was put down and coffee spilled in saucer. No rush for us to leave after an hour as breakfast moved into lunch territory and trying to get another coffee was an ordeal in itsself and the face of the women who took our order was as if we really were causing her major inconvenience. Food is good but it is expensive and for a farm shop which quotes on their website ‘everyone likes our sausages’ , why don’t they serve gluten free sausage with the breakfasts?Food is good but service now appears to be seriously lacking.

It tasted fine but did mention what we thought to the waitress and the manager then can over to apologise and offered us a slice of cake each to takeaway which was nice. Looking at recent reviews I think the owners need to change something as there seems to be a lot of unhappy costumers

I have attended your pumpkin picking event this morning at 1015 and then I booked to go to the moo cafe at 11am with my 2 year old and my mum.We went pumpkin picking first, which I just say is absolutely amazing, we have been coming to yourselves for the last 4 years and it has got better every single year we have attended.I booked the moo cafe in advance as I knew it would be extremely busy, which is expected at the weekends. I booked for 3 people, 2 adults and my 2 year old and made sure I asked for a high chair in the comments section of my booking.Once we arrived at the moo cafe we were met by a man wearing a body warmer and clear glasses, must have been late 40’s early 50’s, I didn’t take note of his name. We were warmly greeted and taken to our seat which was a booth. I could see on the table that there were places set for 2 people. I kindly asked the man if I could have a high chair please. The man turned round and said “no you don’t need a high chair, that’s why you’ve got a booth, just trap him at the back so he can’t get out” I thought the man was joking so I half laughed and said, yeah I still need a high chair please. I found myself going back and forth with this member of staff almost pleading for a high chair. The man continued to say ‘why do you need a high chair?” I said my little boy is 2 and I just want a high chair, why do I need to continually explain myself? I was so embarrassed at this point that I was having to beg for a high chair in front of my son, my mum other customers. The man then said “well you aren’t sitting here if you’re having a high chair.” I asked why and he just said “you aren’t” eventually this man said he would get a high chair from somewhere.Once we were seated and my little boy had a high chair I asked a member of staff to speak to the manager, a lady with blonde hair came over and said she was the assistant manager. I explained the situation then further explained that my son was autistic, we have an extremely difficult time taking him out places most of the time and today was the first time in months that I was brave enough to take him out for dinner. My son wears headphones/ear defenders due to having really sensitive hearing and all we wanted to do today was enjoy ourselves, pumpkin pick and some dinner. I have never ever felt so embarrassed in my entire life. I asked my mum if she wanted to leave but she said no as we needed to feed my son his dinner. The manager was nice enough and just apologised on this mans behalf.I didn’t realise going to a family restaurant that anyone should have to plead and be completely shown up whilst asking for a high chair. I made sure I added it to my booking, although I thought it would be obvious that anyone who has a young child with them would need a high chair. This experience will mean I tell my closest friends and family who have children not to bother with the restaurant if they are potentially going to be treated the same way.No one should ever have to feel like they are less than any other paying customer, and ultimately that is how we were made to feel today.I have emailed farmer Copley’s direct also.

Booked an afternoon tea for a special occasion. Arrived in good time, after 10 minutes sat at our table, no service. We moved outside, made sure the staff were aware we'd moved. Waited another 10 minutes, no service. Went in and asked to be served - were assured someone would come out. 3 staff did came out to look at an empty table, so I said 'excuse me, can we place our order please' and got no response, all 3 staff walked off and back inside; not only surprising us but other customers outside. After another 10 minutes, my friend and I left. 30 minutes and not one member of staff came to our table, despite being asked twice. Also waiting for them to ring us back about our complaint. no response so far, can't say I have much confidence they will. I'm shocked at the poor service, I'd heard such good things about this place.

Beautiful decor, the interior is stunning. There is the choice of cozy booths or tables, very inviting. As of Covid, you book at your table via the app - pretty straight forward, also liked the fact that you could leave messages for the chef. We ordered to Chicken Caeser salads (ingredients on photo) and a side dish and two beverages. The drink took over 10 minutes to arrive - not very busy at the time - however, could be that the order tool a while to arrive due to ordering online??? The salad arrived a little after. We requested (via the app) for extra dressing which we received. The waitress did not ask if we needed anything else, so I asked for condiments - which she brought to the table. I was soooooo disappointed with the salad, the chicken was not seasoned, so very bland - as the menu stated the salad came with 'homemade garlic croutons and shavings of Grano Padano' which were no where to be seen? However 2 piece of bread were placed on the salad, no butter??? Now if the cafe had of ran out of certain ingredients, surely it would be the best option to inform the customer that something is '86ed' (isn't none) so that they have the option to change their order? No staff came back to check if we were OK, which I found poor as I counted 5 staff and only 2 tables eating? Another little beef I have is the price they were charging for soft drinks? £2.79 for a small 330ml of coke zero?? Anyway, the place is stunning and worth a visit, next time I probably will double check all ingredients before I order.

Visited here for lunch today and opted for the afternoon teas. We live locally and each time we eat there we come away thinking “never again”. It is ok if you just want a coffee and cake but everything else seems to be over priced and of average quality. The service was very slow although the majority of staff were really friendly. When our food arrived some items listed on the menu had been substituted but no one thought it seemed necessary to inform us. The bread wasn’t fresh and was very dry. There were three finger sandwiches, a slice of quiche, various cakes and a fruit scone. At £16 per person certainly not worth it. It said on the menu that free refills were available for hot drinks but when I ordered another coffee I waited at least 10 minutes for it to arrive. This place seems to thrive on it’s name and I’m quite sure that if there was any decent competition in the area it would soon suffer.

Good cafe but very costly for what you get. 10 pound for more less everything on breakfast, starting with egg benedict, avocado on toast etc (look at their online menu), extra tomato is 1.50. I found the pricing model is interestingly high for the area where it is situated. Coffee is mostly dark roast so not for coffee lovers. Environment was good, staffs were good friendly but the menu price is definitely something will make people think. Couple of quid less and they would be much more palatable to a lot of people.

Apart from the fact you had to pay for your lunch in advance as you order even though you are sat at your table, the quality of food was dissapointing considering that this is opposite a farm shop. The cutlery was dirty and what we did get couldn't cut through anything as it was that well used. The restaurant itself was too busy, very disorganised and there was no hand sanitiser around after sitting down or using the toilets. Having been ripped off royally in Cornwall I was pleased to find a genuine meal deal. I’d prefer cod but the deal was haddock so haddock it was. The food was good, the fish was fresh and the chips were tasty. The bread came buttered. We got mushy peas on the side. The servers were friendly and the food was delivered promptly. Title may be harsh but i think it somes it up. We couldnt even unwrap the food it was so wet and the fish just disintegrated into mush. Completely tasteless. Shame because portion size was spot on. A few teaspoons of scraps were thrown on at best and these were pale and again soggy. The chips were basically inedible with the amount of grease. They looked so under cooked i can safely say i have never had them so poor and i have experienced a few bad ones. The curry sauce was nothing to write home about either. Maybe the rest of the food give me this impression but i have been very very honest. The food was not placed in a carrier bag to sweat and we drove only for a few mins home. Tried others in the area and totally different experiences. Felt so bloated and greased up we managed about half before skipping the rest.
