This place does not set out to be a sophisticated eatery but if you are hungry you won't be disappointed . My husband loved his all day breakfast : my baked potato with cheese was a bit of a mixed blessing ....a very hot potato and very cold cheese but we did arrive a little late for lunch and it didn't cost us a fortune . Staff are friendly but the newspapers and magazines are well out of date .

We set out to have a special family brunch at the Farm Shop Cafe and this was the first time we have eaten at the Cafe. Brunch at the Farm shop is a mainstream meal and the menu is imaginative and offers an excellent selection. Very sadly our brunch was quite simply a big disappointment. The Cafe was freezing cold and I do mean cold. Some of the other customers had to wear thick coats on to stay comfortable. I was somewhat bewildered as to why the manager of the Cafe did not walk around to Argos and buy a few electric fires and bring the Cafe up to a habitable level. Next, our order was taken. This was laboriously punched into an iPad which was painful to watch and took an age. I'm sure a pencil and pad offers a much better commercial outcome and would assure accuracy which will be discussed later. After a reasonable wait, the food arrived. The first issue was the order was missing a drink, a portion of eggs and the black pudding had not been deleted - an iPad does not work for taking orders. The next issue related to the quality of the food. Generally, all the dishes were less than warm and the poached eggs on two of the dishes were rock hard. Replacement poached eggs were ordered along with the missing items. Towards the end of the mean these did arrive and in actual fact were nice and hot. So all in all, if an eatery can't consistently deliver a simple breakfast dish they should seriously reappraise what's happening inside their business. Based on this shambolic and disappointing experience I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not use it again. Top tip, if you wish to eat breakfast in Harrogate, visit Betty's.

This was a cosy cafe with a lovely log burning fire. The staff were all very friendly and we all enjoyed the relaxed cafe atmosphere. We just had a couple of suggestions - serve plates using a fresh clean cloth, not the same dirty cloth used to wipe up tables & offer filter coffee with breakfast rather then instant.

We went here to meet up with friends and loved the food in the cafe. Superbly presented and large portions. Great tasting too. The shop had wonderful displays and plenty of choice. We bought lots of home cooked foods. Good value for money

You always wonder if you'll be disappointed trying somewhere new. Not here! Last night we had the most amazing meal, each element cooked to perfection. The restaurant on the first floor is fabulously atmospheric reflecting the company ethos as explained on their website. It was warm and cosy yet spacious. The decoration inventive and original. We found the service to be wonderful, on the ball without invading our meal. The staff were great! The real star of the show was the food. Interesting, wholesome, delicious. Infact the best steak ever, it simply melted in the mouth! Would we go again? We'd even go as far as a return break to Harrogate for the pleasure that we found in this restauraunt!! Midweek, away from busy weekends was an extra bonus. Fabulous evening, thank you!

I love this place! Great quality food, big breakfasts and super Yorkshire puddings! This time was a huge plate full of roast pork, veggies, mash, stuffing, Yorkshire puds and lashings of gravy. Really tasty stuff and really good price! The attached farm shop gives you the opportunity to grab some affordable quality meat, veg or gifts to take home. There is even a doggy restaurant so you can take you soggy pooch along after a long walk! The only reason this is a 4 bubble than a 5 bubble is that in the depths of winter is can be very cold inside so wrap up warm!

Had a lovely roast dinner here. As a veggie who loves the trimmings of a roast I often miss out when eating out but not here where a delicious vegetable Wellington was on offer. The food was tasty and the restaurant comfortable and well decorated. It was excellent value for money. Service was a tiny bit slow but we weren't in a rush and happy to sit and relax.

We were on our way to spend new year in Whitby when we spotted the sign for this cafe & called in, l must say it was a surprise to find a cafe that serves plain tasty food as most places these days have gone in for "trendy" family food. My wife & l had soup & a sandwich & its was excellent just what we wanted for a light lunch, although fairly busy we didn't have long to wait & we were soon on our way.

Having read other reviews, we decided to give it a go. We were both really pleased we did. I had a lovely fish soup with homemade sourdough bread. Delicious !!! My friend had the all day breakfast, and she was equally impressed, especially with the home made baked beans. Wow !!! The coffee was good too. Well done everyone concerned.

Stopped here for late breakfast after walking the dogs. Dog friendly cafe with selection of dog treats on tables and water and bowls for your pooch. Food and drink was ok service was a bit slow but as we weren't in any hurry gave us plenty of time to look around the antique sales. Loo was very 'rustic' one the one so boys and girls have to share. The drains were rather wiffy and the loo did not flush.

Poached eggs on toast can be the best or worst of meals but when the bread is soda bread, there is avocado on top and the eggs are free range poached to perfection you can't go wrong. Fancier food is available and as my partner isn't into "fancy" they let him make up his own meal from the extras. Thrice fried chips made his day. The cafe is hidden away above a pie shop but look it out, it's worth it! ☺️

Stopped off here on the off chance on the way to settle. Pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent quality and the staff pleasant. The farm shop was stocked of good local produce. Definitely worth a visit.

Admittedly we were first through the door on a cool Sunday morning but it was freezing. However, they did light the fire and by the time we left it was just about warm enough. Unfortunately, it took almost as long to warm up the water for the coffee, which, when it came, could really have done with some coffee in it! Breakfast was a disappointment I'm afraid. Seriously - tinned tomatoes? In a fram shop? Also no consistency - I got half a slice of toast, my OH got two half slices. All in all, very disappointing.

We were driving along the A59 looking for coffee on a Sunday morning when we spotted a small sign and turned off the main road. The cafe is on the right about 100 yards (or less!) down the side road. It's combined with a farm shop and other units including antiques and a log store - no, we haven't got a wood burning stove either, but they have and on this wintry morning we had coffee sitting very near it and it was wonderful!!We were amazed to find a huge menu - all types of breakfast, jacket potatoes, paninis with several fillings, sandwiches and so on. The staff were lovely - friendly and approachable and at the same time producing the food rapidly. The main problem? Finding this place!! Coming from the Skipton direction along the A59 there is a small sign but you could easily miss it. I don't know whether there is a sign if you're coming the other way. My suggestion would be to take a couple of minutes to put the post code into the sat nav -- if not, it's worth just locating Burley Bank on your map and the cafe is only a very very short way down that road off the A59.If you're without either a map or sat nav then I'm afraid I can't help you -- drive until you find it and work up an appetite -- you won't be disappointed! The coffee, scrambled egg, toast and sausages and coffee we had were all excellent.I'm delighted to do the second ever review of this place and feel sure it will collect many more as time goes on -- as long as people can manage to find it!

We called in on our way back to Harrogate as we have driven past many times on the A59 Skipton Road but have never had the time to stop. What a pleasant surprise, the staff were friendly and efficient and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Good quality ingredients at a good price. We warmed ourselves in front of the wood burner and were impressed by the small things; tea or coffee included with a breakfast and the fact that they brought our daughters food out first, as she was most hungry! They've got a cracking little shop on site along with antiques and a log business, so plenty to do.We'll definitely be going back again.

We have being visiting this cafe for over 15 years and always enjoyed visisting with family. The team in the yellow uniforms were always friendly and the prices VERY resonable. We enjoyed Xmas luches here and have great memories playing crazy / mini golf. Visited today hoping to enyoy cake and a latte, but noticed new owners have taken over. Sadly not a patch on previous set up and sorry to say the wonerful home made baking was replaced with uninspiring offerings. Latte was the worsed i have had in many years, can only be described it as white coffee, the owner was unimpressed and rude with me asking for a replacement. Will not be returning.

Gluten free review for the cafe: I visited the Druid’s Temple today and went to the cafe for lunch afterwards. Gluten free cakes and sandwiches were available. I had an ultimate hot chocolate and a trout and cream cheese sandwich (GF bread), and I’m sad to say that neither were very flavourful. The hot chocolate was weak and watery, and the sandwich was very dry. It’s a shame because the setting is so beautiful! A word to cross contamination, I have reacted to the food that I had, so I suspect that the chopping board used for my sandwich may not have been cleaned down before preparing my food (or similar). There was also a gluten free chocolate brownie which was in the same cabinet next to gluten containing cakes, with tongs that customers could use to select their own cakes, but no separate gluten free pair. If anyone from the cafe happens to read this, from coeliacs and gluten free people everywhere please could you make sure that cross contamination risk is limited through simple measures such as cleaning down a surface before making gluten free food (we don’t mind waiting a bit longer for piece of mind!), and that GF cakes and sweet treats are kept separate and using separate tongs etc? When we find places that don’t gluten us we share it heavily in the community!

I do not usually write reviews but I feel as though I have to after what I witnessed last night 28/11. After waiting 20-25 minutes for my food, I saw the fryer shouting at the gentleman on the Till area. I asked the young man if he was okay and I could tell he was getting upset. The chef was repeatedly shouting at him and telling him to go home and storming off and swearing at him whilst the gentleman did not respond and seemed to get upset. The worst part was that it was quite busy and the man on the till was obviously trying his hardest whilst the other gentleman working was seemingly walking around aimlessly, not helping, and doing nothing. I am disgusted by this, surely in this day and age abuse towards young staff should not be happening? After reading other reviews, I have seen that this is not the first time this has happened with the same Chef. Surely management has picked up on this? I was going to give the chef a piece of my mind but was concerned that it would only result in him shouting at the young gentleman further. I will not be returning when this man is working And I am advising friend and family to do the same.

Stayed here on our way home to the West Country we stay almost every year. And this year was just as good as previous years. This year we stayed in house opposite the room I believe was called Braxton? It had a shower over the bath and a nice sized bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable, there ware extra pillows/blankets etc in a wardrobe if needed. There was kettle and cafetière with coffee bags. The breakfast the next morning was all cooked to order and great poached eggs. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying there again next year. :-)))))

Having visited the Tontine several times in the recent past, we looked forward to a nice Sunday lunch as a family. The visit was marred by underwhelming customer service, requests for water took several attempts before being served, the staff seemed uncommitted to delivering much of a service, and the food , frankly was at best average.I’m afraid that in view of the negative impression we had, it will be some time before we return, there are so many good local places to eat, it really is a disappointment to have to be so negative, must try harder would be my advice.
