Best fish and chips we’ve tasted in a long time !!!! Crispy batter and presented well.Well done guys we will be back for another visit !!

First time ordered take aways and when we got home we were so disappointed. Wish was old and dry and the batter was over cooked and lumpy batter pieces. Chips looked like they were the last bit left in the fryer. Fish cakes were made of potato in batter. Potato was old and dry and not edible at all. Very disappointed as we were looking forward to a lovely take away meal!

Wife went in to grab us some dinner on her way home. We live bout 15 mins away from ripon, when she got home and i opened my fish and chips i could bot believe the size of the fish. Just awful.

Disappointing travel twenty miles to get there for twenty minutes before it closes at9 and told that they had no chips left there was a queue waiting for 5 mins to they told me they had no chip left so had to travel home up set me and my son look forward to them on other fish and chip was closed and business not having an enough supply of chips is shock I would go early if you can so it doesn’t disappoint you or use other fish and chips shop

Really tasty f/chips bread butter and tea. Sat in, food was cooked to order and came in very good time. Liked the restaurant,nothing to complain about.

Dog friendly! This is so important for us as there are not many eat in fish n chip shops that are. The waitress was lovely, brought water out straight away for our dog. We visited Drakes whilst in Ripon buying a house. Can't say I was impressed to be honest. The staff weren't exactly friendly. The chips looked like they'd been sat for a long while. It was pretty rubbish. Very disappointed. Very much doubt we'll go back.

Had takeaway fish and chips during our stay in Ripon. Freshly cooked to order so piping hot. Lovely crispy batter and good quality cod served with nice chips and a few scraps which we'd asked for. Quite reasonably priced.

Friends recommended Drakes for fish lunch while we were exploring downtown Ripon. We were not disappointed! The fish was absolutely outstanding and the portions quite generous. For those who might want a little less to eat, the fish comes in a couple of sizes. Definitely worth a try when you are in Ripon!

The service was very good with friendly, polite staff. Plenty of people in the dining room but our order was dealt with immediately and the food arrived hot and freshly made. I have to say it's the best fish and chip meal I have had in years and the price of the food was very reasonable considering I've paid more for take away fish and chips in my local area.Very impressed and will most certainly visit this restaurant again if I am in Ripon again.

Called here with our two young grandchildren for a tea time visit on our way home from a day out. The meal was excellent, the fish especially was done just as we ordered it, and the children's portions were also very good, served with bread and butter (or was it margarine) and a cup of tea with hot water for a top up. The children's meal came with a soft sugar free drink and ice cream to follow.

I very much enjoyed my fish and chips at Drakes, my first visit to this cafe. The fish and chips were perfect, with light and crispy batter and no grease at all. Bread and butter were included, which I declined, as the size of portion was just right as it was. The price included a pot of tea, which was good and strong, and made two cups. I was pleased to see there was a hot water pot. Service was quick and friendly and I really couldn`t fault anything, only praise it!

Nice atmosphere, where the staff tend to leave you to eat your food, with the occasional check that everything is okay. Great fresh food. Highly recommend in the restaurant.

Tucked away down a side street, it is easy to overlook this small fish and chip restaurant and takeaway. We enjoyed a very good large haddock and chips each, with tea and bread and butter. Under £20, excellent value and very filling. puddings are available at £5 for two!

Me and my husband had a day trip to ripon with a fish and chip lunch in the restaurant £7.95 with tea bread and butter the service was very good and the lady told us about the work house museum so we had to pay that as visit as we’ll great food as well

Arrived for a meal around 5pm on a Saturday. No sign of any staff in the restaurant so we sat at an unoccupied table. Other diners were either eating or waiting for their food. Probably 10 minutes passed before the waitress finally appeared. She didn't seem overly familar with the menu but took our orders and within a relatively short time the food and drinks arrived - albeit without the included bread and butter which we had to ask for when it didn't arrive.

It has a restaurant, where I have never been, but the takeaway is great. Freshly fried fish and chips, and there are other things, like sausages, to be had. But the Haddock is great, in two sizes, but even the normal portion is big, and the plaice is great too.

The restaurant was quiet but despite this three lots of customers were having trouble.

Too tired to get a pub meal so went for quick fish supper. OK quality. We liked the haddock, good batter. Scampi was tough and had been hanging around for ages before being served to us. Chips too soggy for me. Reasonable price.

No estábamos decepcionados Brenda tenía el tamaño regular de pescado con patatas fritas y guisantes blandos tuve un pez grande con mina la comida era tan buena como la última vez servido bastante rápidamente por una señorita muy agradable. Estábamos tan contentos de encontrar este restaurante ya que teníamos las personas mayores especiales y lo que fue una ganga. El pescado era abadejo, que estaba muy bien cocinada, no demasiado gruesas un bateador y no demasiado grasienta. Las patatas fritas eran patatas fritas hechas de patatas propiamente dicho y cortar gruesas, también teníamos Bread & butter con una taza de té fue todo bien, así como una buena relación calidad-precio, definitivamente ir cuando en Ripon

Vine esta noche a recoger 2 chips grandes un salchicha ya no cocina. Mi banco había rechazado mi tarjeta por desgracia, así que tuve que reducir mi pedido y pagar en efectivo, pero la situación se arregló y el chico con tatuajes en el brazo era muy bonito. Me dio la sensación de contento. La comida aquí es fantástica y se nota que el trabajo personal rápidamente y muy bien bajo presión. Siempre nos saludaron con una sonrisa y me di cuenta de que había algunos clientes habituales y el personal sabía sus nombres y conversamos con ellos a pesar de que estaba tan ocupado que creo que es un detalle encantador servicio al cliente.

Acabamos de tener el pescado más fantástica y patatas fritas en el Restaurante Drakes. Como una familia de seis todos tuvimos pescado y patatas fritas y guisantes. Todo era muy fresco y caliente, el servicio era excelente. Estaba muy ocupado en el restaurante y para llevar y se podía ver que estaban muy ocupados, pero el personal nos todavía acogidos. Sin duda alguna de drakes nuevo. Comida estupenda! Gran servicio! Sin duda lo recomiendo!

Vivir en las Bermudas, rara vez tienen una necesidad urgente de F&C; y si no - el F&C; experiencia le deja muy decepcionado. Así que en un viaje de regreso a Ripon no saludable ofertas de cabinas eran lo suficientemente bueno - que necesitábamos F&C; - pronto. Well what can I say one of the best restaurants in Ripon I use this restaurant a lot once a week I live locally and anybody visiting Ripon will not be disappointed the workers in there are always pleasant and pleased to help you I am looking forward to visit again

we were on the way in for our Friday lunch fish and chips and it started to rain so we went into the restaurant for the first time. good decision. very friendly waitress, very generous portion of good quality fish and chips with fresh bread and warm tea. it was not expensive either. just how it should be. all good.

went on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed and the bonus that the salt and vinegar was on the counter to put on the chips yourself was a nice touch.

Visitamos hoy con mi madre por una rara almuerzo menores tratar. El servicio era excelente, con pan y mantequilla trajo casi de inmediato y pedir ocupaban rápidamente. Ambos pedimos pescado y patatas fritas. La orden llegó rápidamente (quizás demasiado rápido? Tanto que pensamos) y el pescado parecía como si hubiese sido preparado. El sabor parecía confirmar nuestras sospechas ya que era muy seco, con una muy oscura con pasta cocidas. Que no me puedo quejar en el tiempo como madre no puedo decir nada hasta que nos fuimos. Yo creo que ambos no queríamos estropear el almuerzo para la otra! Una pena, ya que habíamos oído buenas críticas y comentarios de Tripadvisor son buenas. Tal vez elegimos un mal día pero no corriendo me temo.

Decided to eat in the cafe for a change. Prices a little dearer than the takeaway, which you would expect. The cafe is fairly small. The portions too big for a small appetite but they were helpful by allowing me a child's meal, which is a rarity these days. Ok service. Food good and plentiful. Was a little chilly when we visited but it was cold outside too.

Have bought food from here several times and always find it hot, tasty and filling. Prices about average for fish and chips. Has a sit down restaurant but cheaper to take out and sit on the wall opposite! Never had a problem either eating in or takeaway.
