It was the worst experience in a restaurant ever. Went there with 5 other friends expecting a full Turkish breakfast as a deal. but They were very cheeky in pricing the breakfast, which didn't include main fried eggs nor Turkish tea and had to order them separately. Not only that, but they gave very small pieces of bread which wasn't enough to finish the breakfast, so we asked for more, they added bread charge on the breakfast and instead of paying £7.90 each for breakfast deal we paid £15.50 each.

It was our first time coming here although I live locally and had never been before! So glad we did. We had a couple of mezze dishes which came quickly and were delicious! The ezme tomato salsa was so different and fresh tasting. Just what we needed. The panini's were also great and very good value for money. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu, which has loads of vegetarian and vegan options. Staff were friendly and super helpful, thanks very much for a lovely lunch :)

This restaurant has to be the worst we have ever visited. We wanted authentic Turkish food, particularly shish kebabs cooked on an open fire grill. Forget it! - this restaurant does not have any such grill. The portions are tiny, the flavours not authentic and the meat incredibly full of gristle and fat. The seating and the floors were absolutely filthy. We paid £16 for two cocktails and could not taste any alcohol in either. The wine list is pathetic just house white, red, rose and then a Shiraz. When I asked what the house wine was it was the same Shiraz - so on the menu for two different prices but the same bottle. When it arrived it was Hardy's Shiraz - cheap supermarket rubbish. The starter of Calamari was a cheap catering frozen weird substitute - not real calamari rings but mushed up pulp in a batter ring. We complained to the waitress who really didn't care if we ate it or not and after sending it back 90% left we were charged the full amount. This place really is a take on and I want to warn anyone looking for a Turkish meal to avoid it at all cost. We spent £70 and then went on to another restaurant to get a proper meal we could eat. I would honestly say this is the worst restaurant I have been in for many many years. There are some good reviews but I would be really cautious if these are genuine because EVERY aspect of our experience, ambience, service, staff, management (or lack of), food, drink, hygiene were at best absolutely appalling. Surprising to say we were the only diners. Save your money and go elsewhere - anywhere!!!

I had dinner today after almost one year since my last visit and it`s still delicious and cheap, exactly as I remembered. To help his bussines, the owner transformed the little restaurant into a take away but it still has class and fresh food, tables outside where you can enjoy your meal or have a drink while waiting to be prepared. I totally recommend eating or ordering food there, 5 stars.

Well, this is just an average Turkish joint but the food is much better than average. This was my once-a-week vegetarian day so I had five veggie mezze - humus, ezme, grilled halloumi, falafel and borek - plus free pitta bread but no water. All very tasty. That plus a glass of red came to £13.65 plus tip. I'll be back.

The food we had was tasty and fairly priced and the front of house staff were friendly... however, service was rather slow, not all menu options were available, and they don't accept card payment. We only found out that it was cash only at the end, there was no sign to let customers aware and even though they had a cash machine in there we were told it didn't work so I had to go out in the rain to a cash point 100 meters away! I wouldn't recommend anyone go there unless they sort themselves out!

If you are after a quick bite of authentic Turkish food on Gloucester road, then you should give this place go. The dishes were all pretty good (grilled halloumi, whitebait, spicy sausage-not the best-and humus with a couple of meat dishes) served in good time and was of high quality and a good price. The dish that deserves a mention was the aubergine and beef dish which was delicious. Don't forget to BYO beer or wine too.

Chicken wrap was delicious, much better than the chicken doner I have eaten in various establishments in Green Lanes, London or the Mangals in London. Sadly my daughter had the falafel wrap and that was not so good, very heavy and I feel if they made their falafels as fresh and tasty as their competitor (Eat a Pita), they could be the number 1 place to eat in Gloucester Road

Firstly their web site is misleading and needs to be updated to reflect what is currently being served e.g. they have a wine list but is in fact BYO. As for the food - dissappointing although admittedly I did only try 2 of the mezzes. One was the spinach and feta borek, which seemed more like a supermarket rendition than a genuine Turkish one. The pastry was far from the paper thin crispness that I remember from trips to Turkey or which I have had in other restaurants. .Served with the 2 mezzes was some complimentary bread - would have benefited from being served warm.

The waitress didn't bring napkin cause I already used mine. When I asked him if meze is fresh he answered me in a rude and angry way. I didn't go there to take a life lesson. And the food was extremely bad that we just left it. They didn't even ask if there is something wrong. They didn't care that we didn't even touch the main dish. And it was way too bad version of original iskender that you can eat in Turkey. At the end I was disappointed with the food , I had to pay £40 and to pay it I had to walk to atm since they don't even have card machine. Awful!

This was our first time getting a takeaway from Ezo since their refit. Most things we had were tasty, but the portions were somewhat stingy. The bread was dry and cold and the rest of the food was tepid. The Lamb Guvech was a tasty casserole which apparently comes with rice, but we weren't given any. It would have been nicer if we had the rice, and had it been hot. The Ezo Charcoal Grill was similarly priced at £11 and again, was tasty but stingy. We also shared a portion of Yogurtly Patlican which was £3.95 and a portion of bread (which came free with one of the other items). The Yogurtly Patlican is aubergines in yoghurt and was very nice. The bread was really poor though. The shobiyet (filo pastry in syrup) was £3.80 and perfectly pleasant. At £29 the meal really didn't feel good value, and we won't go there again. Lona is a bit further up Gloucester Road and is much better value.

We visited this restuarant early on a Saturday Evening, myself , husband and son. We were surprised to see that we were the only customers, but this didn't put us off. The decor is lovely and you can watch as your food is cooked. I would stress it is bring your own alcohol if that is want you want although it doesn't state this on the website. The starters we had were lovely - spicy sausage, spicy sausage and humus and what looked like samosas, but they were filled with feta and spinach. For the main course myself and son had charcoaled meat which again was delicious and my husband had spicy lamb in bread which he also enjoyed. We had a try at a couple of the deserts which were also yummy. I would say the protions aren't huge, but I prefer that as I didn't feel stuffed after having 3 courses, but everything was delicious. There is a section where you can sit outside if it is warm which is nice. The service was good and I couldn't fault the experience, I would definitely return. I took a couple of chums to Ezo's for a mid-week evening meal having searched for somewhere that would cater imaginatively for a carnivore, someone who won't eat anything that had a face and someone who occasionally gets hummus cravings (me). My veggie friend and I opted for the cold mixed meze platter for starters and other friend had a chicken halep. Everything was beautifully prepared, fresh and flavourful and we found that the meze was generous enough for a main course along with the lovely fresh flat-bread that came with it although other people with bigger appetites seemed capable of packing in a second course too. We were made very welcome and served attentively and the bill came to just under £40 which included plenty of sparkling water and a large glass of wine between us. The last time I went there was in February this year with my girlfirend, and we were happy about it.They cook the food in front of you, in a big oven and a coal grill, so you know what you are going to eat, and the service is usually good. The mezze starters are very good, the grilled meat is very well cooked and the oven dishes I tried are very nice too: I would recommend the islim kebab and the char-grilled meat.I can't give it 5 stars because it's not a magnificent restaurant, and one day that the restaurant was busy the service was slow and not very friendly, but it was just one of the times I was there: all the other times the staff was very polite and friendly and the food has always been very well cooked for a decent price.

this little local Turkish restaurant is a gem. Simple, superb food cooked in front of you on a giant copper grill. Cosy atmosphere on these chilly damp nights. Try the charcoal lamb and a bottle of Yakut- fantastic

We called in here for dinner to excite us ready for our holiday to Turkey. The food was good, basic Turkish menu, I thought it was a little expensive bearing in mind the basic menu and surroundings but tasty neverthless. Friendly service.

Have eaten here about 4 times in the past year and each time we have enjoyed a very nice meal. The service is good and the food is well prepared and nicely presented. The mezedes are plentiful and delicious and the mains, particularly the grilled meats are excellent. The lovely fresh bread they serve is made at the the local Turkish patisserie/bakery (Bristambul) just further up Gloucester Road. Well worth a visit.

Ate here on a Saturday night in a group. Have eaten here a couple of times and the food is always excellent. Love the open charcoal fire they use and the place is always busy. Prices are very reasonable. Only issue was for a Saturday night only one person really working the tables. The pace was slow but it suited the atmosphere of the restaurant. Would recommend anyone to give this a go !

Amazing food, large portions too. We ordered the slow cooked lamb wrapped in aubergine and the minced chicken kebab wraps. The meal took a while - because they were so busy but they told us it would be a wait. So no probs. The beer list could be more extensive. However if your on the wine/spirits they've got you covered. We paid £40 for 2 main meals a shared starter and 2 drinks each- great value! Highly reccomend

If you want a good meal this is a place to go to - I have been several times and have had the veggie mousaka each time - it varies with whoever cooks it (it isn't a run of the mill frozen meal microwaved like you get in a number of places)

I have been going here since it opened. The food and service were once really good but both are now firmly in decline which is a real shame as this place could really deliver on both. My most recent visit in April 2012 saw really slow service - 30 mins to take a drink order. An hour for food to arrive. Mains were lacklustre and tepid by the time they hit the table. I'd think twice before coming back again - given the new competition on the Gloucester Road.

Food quality was good. Very disappointed that waiter lost our order and was not very apologetic about it. We had to ask for some more olives whilst we patiently waited. When we wanted to order deserts we had to chase again. Good atmosphere but let down by poor service.

Our first visit to Ezo was a pleasure - the staff allowed us to concoct our own meze platter off menu, and we got to try lots of lovely little bits of Turkish food. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, and helped us choose different things to try.We would definitely come back here for a full meal after the warm and accommodating atmosphere the staff presented to us. The portions looked giant, and the cost very reasonable. A definite must-visit!

I have a slight obsession with Turkish food so for my birthday my boyfriend and I thought we'd check this place out as we walked past it pretty much every day and it always looked rather nice and busy. We got there around 7ish maybe later (had a few drinks first) and it was nicely busy. We had to start of with a mixed Meze and my only criticism is that there was not an immense amount on the plate; however what was there was tasty - especially with the complimentary bread (absolutely delicious). The mains however were really good size portions. My boyfriend went for a charcoal meat selection with vegetables, the meat was cooked perfectly and there was lots of it. I'm a sucker for seafood so I got the seafood casserole and it was quite delicious and again, the portion was big, and unlike some restaurants which give you about two mussels there was loads of prawns, mussels and salmon. The whole thing was garlicky and good but after finishing most of it i was dying of dehydration - it was a little salty even for my tastes. However, washed down with the red wine (I have no idea what wine it was) it all went down very well! To conclude it was a really good meal, good wine, and good atmosphere. The waitress was lovely very friendly and I must say I had a thoroughly good time. I would definitely recommend and I would come here again for sure if I still lived in Bristol!

Given the location, and the other great cheap restaurants around here, this place could do a lot better. The food was mediocre, nowhere near as vibrant as it should be. I had a lamb dish with babaganoush which had a hint of spice but was underseasoned and had a truckload of sickly yoghurt on it. It just needed some more texture and stronger flavours. The service was pretty friendly but too relaxed, the tables outside didn't get cleared for ages, on a sunny Sunday when every beer garden and cafe terrace should be heaving! It's a shame that they don't realise how much better this place could be.

I went to Ezo with my boyfriend for his birthday meal. We had looked at various restuarants on Gloucester Road and settled on this one; we definitely weren't disappointed. The place was quite quiet but it was only 6pm so still fairly early; a few more people arrived towards the end of our meal. There was a good choice of drinks and we chose a bottle of Turkish red wine, which went really well with our food. There was also loads to choose from on the menu - it took me ages to decide what to have, it all sounded so yummy! I settled on a starter of dolma - stuffed vine leaves - which were stuffed full and very flavoursome. My boyfriend chose the spicy garlic sausages which we really enjoyed - I also tried some and it was yummy. For my main I had the chicken adana - minced chicken kofta with herbs and chilli, served with rice, which I really recommend - amazing! My boyfriend also enjoyed his chicken and spinach dish. The portions were plentiful but we still had a bit of room for dessert! I had the kafayif and my boyfriend had the baklava, both delicious. We were very kindly given some Turkish liquor on the house to finish our meal - gorgeous! Two starters, mains and desserts and a bottle of wine came to just over £50. I will definitely be returning to sample some more of the lovely food on offer. If you're looking for somewhere to go for a birthday or other special occasion, I recommend Ezo. They have tables to accommodate larger groups as well as couples.

We arrived to a lovely warm welcome, which extended throughout our entire visit. The food was full of fantastic flavours, it was my first experience in a Turkish restaurant and if they are all like this, then I don't understand why there aren't more. Perhaps it was just beginners luck. I'm looking forward to returning and working my way through the attractive menu.

We had a similar experience to navyeye, it took two hours for our mains to come out and when they did they were at different times and Luke warm, also they got our drinks wrong. No apology offered at all. Usually this is a great restaurant, we have had great experiences at lunch time and the food and decor is great, but I'm not sure they can handle groups above 4-5 during dinner service

This place really is wonderful - the food is amazing and I've been going there for 5 years and have never had or been with anyone who has had anything but a 10/10 experience. The actual place is lovely, very authentic with a warm atmosphere, and the staff are very friendly. This is the place I choose to go to for birthdays, anniversaries and any other special occasion ! I generally eat out at least 2 or 3 times a week and I can honestly say that this is one of my favorite restaurants in Bristol ! So don't delay, go today !!

I entered the restaurant at 8pm. I and the 10 others at my table were ready to order at 8.20. by 8.45 someone had taken our order. 9.20 we had our starters and at 10.10pm, over 2 hours later, our mains arrived half of which were luke warm and one of which was totally forgotten. We had to ask for our plates to be cleared away between courses. We had to ask for cutlery to eat our mains. Not once were we asked if we needed more drinks and neither were we asked if everything was ok; no apology was made for the delay between courses so I can only assume this is service is normal. When the bill came at 10.50pm, there were £47 worth of items that did not belong to our table. A second bill was arranged, that one had £12 of items that did not belong to our table. The third bill arrived at 11.20pm and the restaurant had the bare faced cheek to add a £30 compulsory service charge. The food was ok (7/10), but completely ruined by the staff and service.

Tried it at lunchtime - evenings looks a lot busier. Very good kebabs & meze with free drink thrown in. Really tasty, quite good value too - surprised not to have appeared on Tripadvisor already. Currently the only Turkish restaurant in the area, although another one is about to open on Cheltenham Road (near the Arches) - curious to see how the competition shapes up!
