Elliot's Cafe in Southwark

Had the pleasure of lunching this week at Elliot’s. The service was excellent, the server was attentive and helpful with recommendations and descriptions of the food. They catered very well for wheat intolerance. We had 4 small plates, one large and a side and all were delicious. Broccoli and Tomato Stracciatella, white peach, golden beetroot & oregano Beef carpaccio, tonnato dressing, rocket Crab Monkfish in brown butter Fried Buddington Farm potatoes & aioli

Expensive small plates not to share because they are too small and natural wines that; again, were too expensive for the quality and taste. Had dinner here last week and thought that it was overrated. We had the cheese puffs and the steak tartare to start along with the bread. They were all pretty tasty. We then had the mushrooms with the raw egg yolk. They were fine but tiny. We also had the fish and the steak with mushroom sauce. We skipped dessert I wouldn’t come back because it was too loud and none of the dishes were memorable. We didn’t try the pizzas because none of them looked particularly good.

Really lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Totally amazing pizza without tomato which I have been craving more of since my visit a week ago! Pistachio gelato also delicious 😋😋

We came late-ish on a Saturday evening and were lucky they had a table free. Service was very friendly and there was generally a nice vibe at the place. Most of the food was very good (the garlic calzone bread and the arrancini starter in particular). The roast lamb was excellent! A nice range of wines to choose from too, though really expensive for 125ml glasses.

From the moment we arrived, we were rushed through our meal with constant reminders about our time limit. While I understand the need for turnover, the staff's passive-aggressive attitude made our visit extremely uncomfortable. When my friend asked for dessert, we were rudely told, "Unfortunately, you cannot have dessert!" The timing of the meals was off as well, adding to the rushed feeling. THIS IS NOT THE PLACE ……if you are looking for a pleasant experience with excellent, friendly service! THE RESTAURANT SHOULD DEFINITELY RECONSIDER THEIR MANNERS AND TIMING. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A RELAXING AND ENJOYABLE DINING EXPERIENCE.

I love the food here. Perfect pizza’s, the potato flatbread is delicious and the salad dressing innovative but, drinks are very expensive. 2/3 of a pint of lager for pint of lager prices!!!! That’s just cheeky.

I went here for a quick bite to eat before meeting my partner for drinks after work. It was early evening on Friday circa 5pm, I was offered a tall stool whilst there were other tables empty. I asked for one of the more comfortable table seats and explained I would just be eating and leaving. I am a regular diner so know how swift the food is served. Reluctantly the manager (small, dark haired male) seated me but told me he would need the table back by 6pm. I ordered my favourite crab pizza, perfect on a hot day. Ate, drank and left circa 6:15pm and in that time only one other couple arrived and the restaurant was pretty empty as I was leaving. This isn’t the first time it’s happened here and I would like to see them get more comfortable with treating solo dinners equally.

We were a group of 4 adults and 2 kids that visited on a Saturday evening. We ordered the cheese puffs, garlic butter calzone, sea bream crudo, oyster mushrooms, asparagus, gnocchetti, lamb hearts, crab pizza, turbot and the bavette steak. The food was solid, favourite items included the cheese puffs and the oyster mushrooms but pretty much everything we tried was decent. For dessert we had the tiramisu, chocolate mousse, cheesecake and some gelato. Service was friendly and reasonably efficient. The bill for our group came to £405, of which £125 was spent on drinks. In conclusion, while it wouldn’t be my top pick in the restaurant hotspot that now surrounds Borough Market, it was still a perfectly enjoyable meal and worth checking out at least once.

If you're happy spending £3‐4 on each small mouthful of food - which tastes quite nice - then this is the place for you. (And if you like the "dishes come when we want to give them to you" Wagamma-type, anti-customer, nonsense you'll be in dreamland)

Outstanding in every way. We went to the Mare Street restaurant and it couldn’t have been better. Every dish we had was superb. Isle of Mull cheese puffs, striaccatela, asparagus, taleggio pizza and the crowning glory of the best pistachio gelato we’ve ever had

Outstanding food and great service. Had a lovely 3 course meal, with some lovely natural wines. Trout was exceptional, as was the cheese puff starter.

We booked for dinner and the restaurant is lovely inside. The small plates were mostly delicious, although some needed seasoning. The stracciatella was not worth 16 pounds… so avoid that…but the cheese puffs were delish, as was the tagliatelle with broccoli in a miso sauce. Sadly our waitress was rather pushy with the bill. She abruptly threw it down and stood with the card machine as we were mid conversation. We asked if we were being pushed off the table and she said ‘no you’ve still got 20/30 minutes’ but continued to stand by us until we reached for our cards. Very odd.

One of the best restaurants in Borough Market London. Food is just fantastic! We enjoyed our experience every time we came here for dinner. Upscale, modern and has a great vibe. Always busy in the evening. It is not a big restaurant so booking is essential. The garlic butter calzone is a must to order. Such a treat. Love the warm bread with the melting garlic butter on the inside. The oyster mushrooms topped with egg yolk were delicious. I fully recommend their steaks. We shared the sirloin steak (in fact we shared all food). So tender, juicy, flavourful and tasty. I can vouch for the cabbage as well. Never thought a cabbage would be such a delightful to savour. Compliments to the chef! Service was efficient. Staffs are all friendly. There is a bar in the restaurant. Bathroom is located downstairs. I will definitely come back to Elliot's on my next visit to this area!

Lovely food but very rude waiter who didn’t speak too clearly in English and when I asked him to repeat something on the menu he sighed and raised his eyes in annoyance. He then walked off shaking his head. After that when I asked him something he would only address my husband. I think he may have been French or something but he clearly doesn’t like serving the public. We were there on a Monday lunchtime so it wasn’t at all busy so absolutely no rude for his rudeness. We’ve been many times but have never experienced rudeness like this

Kreative und liebevoll angerichtete Speisen mit ausgezeichneten Zutaten. Z. B. die Anchovis oder die Cheese Puffs waren ein Gedicht. Exquisite Weinauswahl von kleinen Winzern. Sehr freundlicher Service. Tolle Lage direkt am Borough Market. Das Preisniveau war aus unserer Sicht jedoch etwas zu hoch. Trotzdem alles in allem eine klare Empfehlung.

Great menu selection. We ordered family style and shared plates. One in our party was vegetarian and liked the various options. We had reservations for a Monday night at 7PM. The restaurant was quite crowded and the noise level was loud - we at times had a hard time hearing each other. Service was excellent. Bill was around 200 pounds - we had a bottle or wine, starters but no dessert. Great location.

This is the second time I have visited the restaurant and the first time I was invited by a friend who also settled the bill. Yes, it is a nice charming little place, and the food is good BUT it's really expensive!! If I compare the value for money it's not worth it for me, there are thousands of places in London that provide equally as good food at a much more reasonable price. They charge £14 for some tomatoes in olive oil and £24 for a few small cuts of Monkfish. The staff could be a little more friendly, its very functional and hurry, hurry for the next seating.

Absolutely outstanding food. We were celebrating a birthday so opted for the feasting menu, which we really enjoyed. The piece de resistance was the Angus steak, marsala peppercorn sauce & gorgonzola butter. I can honestly say it was the finest beef dish I have ever eaten. Anywhere. The wine list was something of a mystery, but we were well advised and particularly enjoyed the red Cosse Maisonneuve. 7 people, 3.5 bottles of wine, all food, coffees/teas and 12.5% service (fully merited) was about £75 per head. We all felt that it was extremely fairly priced.

Great cooking and service it this little spot in borough market. This is my 2nd visit and what great food ..simple,cool and tasty all at once .. What a banger

A very popular place for good food in the midst of hustle bustle of the Borough Markets in the heart of the city . This charming eatery offers a great meal , small bites and lovely atmosphere . The reservations are needed due to crowds . The service is great and rates are high but right reasons . Do not miss the desserts here - top good . Highly recommended.

The service was incredibly slow and took almost an hour for our meal to arrive. We had to chase the staff to see where the meal was. My meal was fine but my brother had something off the vegan menu. I've attached a picture of a head of cauliflower that passed as a main dish. I would not recommend this as a vegan restaurant but my fish was nice.

We booked Friday night dinner there at 6 pm for our Anniversary. The outcome has been a disaster . We've been served a totally Burned calzone that we kindly asked to replace, and instead we got a raw one . The pasta with Nduja was like eating rubber , and then received the Crab pizza that was also totally burned on the bottom with shades of black and yellow . We tried to eat it but was extremely bitter as was totally burned . We also received a dish that we didn't order , the lamb , the waitress did apilogies but then we had it on our bill . ( the dish was send back as we don't like lamb ) Since was very disappointing we called a manager , and explained the situation . He was really rude , didn't offer any discount or apologies , so we asked for the bill and left. His ironic comment it's basically why I'm writing this review . He should learn to be a manager and understand when he is in the wrong as we understand that people can do errors . Paid 76£ and left without having dinner basically .

Food amazing Service not so much! They just leave you sat, you have to intervene to get attention from the waiting staff. They did give us some cheesecake on the house as we waited over an hour for a small bowl of pasta

The second time I’ve eaten here and the standard continues to be high. The staff were charming and attentive; not at all phased by restrictions and changes to how they work. We shared the cheese puffs (OMG) and two small plates to start. We then had a mangalitza pork chop with some sides to share between two. It was all beautifully cooked and the perfect amount. We had two cocktails and a bottle of wine - if you’re not sure about the wine list, ask the staff. They’re knowledgeable and very happy to advise. I will definitely be back and would 10/10 recommend to friends.

Superb wine and food, not to much choice on the menu which we really like. Service was first class and the staff were very informative.

Table for 6: ten minutes after placing three of our orders for starters were withdrawn as 'not available'. Not a good start. Waiting staff struggled to work out we needed a glass each for water. Inattentive staff throughout the visit. Three mains served followed by a break of over five minutes for two more to follow. The sixth was brought later still with the explanation that 'clams take longer to cook'. Problem was we hadnt ordered clams...Could it get worse? Yes. The manager seemed taken aback when we declined to pay the optional 12.5% service charge added to our bill. Some of the food was good but inept delivery spoiled the experience.

Great place. We had the steak from the wood fired oven. Really delicious, loved the Gorgonzola butter and the Maris piper chips were just lovely. Waiting staff were super attentive and a special thanks to the waiter from Finland who looked after us. Will definitely go here again.

I had the most awful experience of my life this evening lost dining at Elliotts. The staff and management are the worst I have ever EVER seen in the hospitality industry, or any Industry at all. They literally man handled me, picking up my chair whilst I was sat on it to kick me out because I was basically not ordering enough drinks... but in all honesty I believe it’s because I’m a London girl and they weren’t happy or appreciative of my custom. Absolutely disgusting when management was called I was not greeted with a hello/how are you or any respect. I was however greeted with a GET OUT. MOVE NOW. With no explanation at all. Avoid this place with all costs this management need to go under. Who ever is employing the waiters or The management needs looking into and addressing. Avoid avoid avoid avoid!

Terrible customer service and attitude from the female waitress/manager called Helena. We appreciated the good service from all of the other staffs and decent food but the the rude attitude from the female staff/manager was unacceptable. Not sure if such attitude and behaviour is tolerated and encouraged at Elliot's as she was really challenging us to reach out to the owner to escalate it. Don't recommend to come here unless you want to spice up your life with some horrible attitude during pandemic.

Good range of dishes with locally sourced ingredients. We shared a few small plates and a pizza between us. It was on the expensive side but the food was really fantastic. A good treat!

Outdoor table for 5 under temporary cover in the evening. Swift food service, but small portions and certainly not cheap. No condiments, bread, table covering, candles etc. Drinks pricing was eye watering. Lowest priced bottle of house wine £37 + 12.5% service charge. Glass of house white wine £7. Beers by the glass in unspecified volume (which shouldn't be allowed?) and £9 for Fledermaus weiss beer (possibly 330ml?) - crazy. Pizzas good but only 10". Serving staff very much in a hurry (? second sitting and close by 10.00pm). Good to be open in these times, but make sure your wallet is healthy!

He estado en Elliot's tres veces durante el verano y principios de otoño y cada vez ha sido genial. La comida es muy buena: vieiras, pan plano de patatas con queso crema y huevas de trucha, straciatella, croquetas de queso, tarta de queso vasco. . . Creo que he comido la mayor parte del menú y no hay nada que no sea bueno. También haga buenos cócteles, buena lista de vinos. No te puedes equivocar.

Fuimos directamente a este restaurante porque un sitio web de reseñas había dicho "las mejores hamburguesas de Londres". ¡El camarero nos dijo que no habían servido hamburguesas en más de un año! El restaurante era agradable, limpio y seguía todo el protocolo COVID. La pizza que comí era bastante pequeña y se quemó en la parte inferior (en realidad obtuvimos 5 de descuento para la factura por eso) La cerveza era muy buena, pero a 5 y media pinta era bastante elevada incluso para los precios de Londres. La ensalada de acelgas arcoiris, espinacas y ajo estaba muy rica, aunque no había mucho. En general, nuestra impresión fue la de que estábamos decepcionados y era demasiado caro.

Una sola vieira cocida en su cáscara rociada con jugo de limón y nuez moscada fue una de las piezas más bonitas y simples de comida que habíamos comido en mucho tiempo.La pizza de carne wagyu añeja era deliciosa y perfecta para dos que no quieren una gran comida.Tomamos un par de cervezas artesanales, principalmente porque la lista de vinos era demasiado cara.Y ese era realmente el rompecabezas. Una carta de vinos de alta gama que no estaría fuera de lugar en un local de alta gama que estaba fuera de lugar en un pequeño restaurante tipo bistró que sirve hamburguesas.La botella más barata costaba más de 30.Realmente es una pena porque nos hubiera gustado quedarnos más tiempo.

Visitamos Elliots para almorzar después de visitar el jardín del cielo. Fue una visita familiar con dos niños a cuestas de 10 y 13 años. No me puedo quejar, la comida era fresca y deliciosa y creo que proviene del mercado de Borough. Hay una buena selección de vinos naturales. Probamos el vino de naranja, que era encantador. El personal también es amable y muy servicial. Recomiendo encarecidamente a Elliots.

Fui a Elliot's a tomar algo con un amigo y terminé tentado por la pizza. Tuvimos la pizza de flores de calabacín, una elección de la que no nos arrepentimos. El personal es muy amable y es genial que hayan ampliado su área de asientos al aire libre debido al covid porque es encantador tomar una copa de vino afuera.

Qué gran lugar fresco para relajarse por la tarde / noche. . . Tomamos unas botellas de Prosecco de la casa y un par de pizzas, increíble. Servido por un gran personal relajado considerando este doloroso encierro, obviamente fue para llevar. . Nos quedamos afuera bajo el dosel mientras llovía a cántaros la mayor parte del tiempo que estuvimos allí. . . ideal para observar a la gente, ¡también tienen baño! Solo dirígete a este lugar cuando llegues al tren, NO o pequeñas colas. . . ???

Out of a lot of choice in Borough Market, this looked the best option for seafood and definitely not disappointed. Oysters many ways, prawns and albarino what's not to like? Very fresh, well prepared and served at the counter.

Popped into here for a few drinks. It was very busy but we managed to get given a seat at the bar for some drinks. The staff were all super pleasant and friendly. Tried the Orange wine. Absolutely delicious and i recommend trying it.

Fui con mi novia después de intentar (fallar) ir a Padella. Esperamos un rato en el bar con una copa de Languedoc (lo único que en realidad no fue maravilloso, ¡teníamos una botella mucho mejor de Cotes Du Rhone con la comida!) Antes de sentarnos.Comencé con los Cheese Puffs, que fueron absolutamente increíbles. El Souffle de queso y la pechuga de pato fueron excepcionales y el Duck Ragu con polenta también fue encantador (aunque, hay que decirlo, no es necesario, ¡es posible que hayamos pedido en exceso!).Nota rápida para el personal, en particular nuestra encantadora camarera antipodean, que hizo que la noche fuera un poco mejor después de que ambos tuvimos días impactantes en el trabajo. We had a lovely lunch here. We sat at the bar as it was busy, but made to feel very welcome and staff very attentive- particularly with our 7 year old son (who had lots of questions!). Cheese puffs were amazing and the king cabbage with aioli was absolutely delicious. Overall would highly recommend

We used TA to selected this eatery. A popular, busy buzzy restaurant set in heart of Borough Markets. Staff were courteous and efficient. However,..Our group of three, one meal drowned in vinegar - left.My meal just ok until 30 mins after I left and was then desperate for the loo. One meal ok.Probably the worst food we have been served in 2019. So, that was our experience I do hope yours is better.

Went here whilst I was visiting borough market with my mum. She is very fussy with food but was helped by a friendly waiter who gave her some recommendations. She went for the cheese puffs and the smoked celeriac, I don’t think she was disappointed! I had the cheeseburger medium rare which was very nice. Price is quite expensive but this is London after all. Staff were nice, as was the venue.

Tuve un gran almuerzo en Elliots con amigos. Es un lugar pequeño, así que necesitas reservar. Decidimos tener una selección de platos pequeños y no nos decepcionó con nuestras elecciones. Fui llevado aquí por un cliente para un almuerzo de negocios. Los pequeños platos aventureros eran caros pero generosos y deliciosos. La decepción vino cuando quería quedarme a tomar una copa de vino, ya que tenía una cita nocturna cerca. La camarera parecía desalentadora ya que se prepararían para la cena a las 6, sin embargo, eran solo las 4, así que le aseguré que ya me habría ido. Después de pedir una copa de vino, instalé mi computadora portátil e iba a pedir el menú de refrigerios cuando pregunté por el código WiFi y me dijeron a mi otra camarera que no podía usar Internet ya que no les gustaba alentar personas a usar computadoras portátiles. . . Como estaba abierto a los negocios y estaba vacío, pensé que esto parecía una política comercial extraordinaria. Entonces comencé a sentir que ambas camareras me habían hecho sentir tan mal recibida que desearía no haber pedido una copa de vino y decidí no quedarme. No pedí ningún bocadillo, bebí rápidamente y me fui sintiendo que no querría volver, a pesar de la deliciosa comida.

Not the best on Borough Market. Staff inattentive, prices expensive and overall service poor. Would not recommend

My second time at this place. Menu always changes, so you can never guarantee they serve what you fancy. However, if you keep an open mind, your taste buds won't be disappointed. For the less adventurous, they also serve a burger... We chose to order a range of small plates to share and to sample a selection of their fantastic wines. It's a bistro style setting, so can get a little noisy but for a small party it is great for having confidential discussions in non-business surroundings and you can't fault the service. The right place to take your 'foodie client'. I'll be back!

Was here in January 2019 and food was lovely and innovating. Had charred cauliflower as starter, lamb as main course and a most delicious dessert. This time the menu has changed. Tried small plates like Vesuvius tomato and the Fazoletti (ox-tongue) which were both good but the Trombetta courgette was just okay. For large plates, the Peking Duck with a nice, crunchy skin was tender but the rib eye though beautifully grilled and well cooked was a bit tough. Seating is crowded and the restaurant is quite noisy. If you are looking for innovation this is the place though cannot always guarantee food is what you like.

We popped in for some drinks and snacks after being in borough market. The team are so friendly and we felt well looked after. There was such a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Already looking forward to my next visit.

The perfect place! Amazing wine, beer, cocktails, food, vibe, music, barman!! Love it! Works for couples, family, friends or even if you go on your own! Just keep it quiet and don't tell anyone!

It is always wonderful to discover a restaurant where the people are passionate, the energy is great and the food is inspired.

We had an amazing lunch here opting for numerous small plates to share. We really liked the exposed brickwork and decor; great natural light from the glass roof at the rear of the restaurant too. The Friggitelli peppers were superb with the right amount of seasoning, tomato, melon, caper and onion salad worked well and burrata; confit of cod and scallops werel cooked perfectly. We accompanied the meal with an orange wine which complimented the dishes perfectly. The service was really good too and I look forward to returning soon.

Stumbled upon this place as was going to a show at The Omeara and glad I did! Started off with a fantastic Gin Martini and then the main show Monkfish Roasted with peas and greens along with some roasted peppers. Every dish that came out was for sure in the food envy category and there were many luscious combinations.

But it was not the burger I loved most, besides the steak, it was the wine - suggested, served perfectly and enjoyed in the right glass and temperature. And the wine itself was enoyable as well. Although you can probably find cheaper wine around, better choice would be a challenge....

Nice place in London Bridge. Decent wine list, and their chips are so good!
