Popped in for coffee whilst on a walk. Lovely staff and very nice coffee with a free little cake on the side. Back soon for a meal.

We had the date night menu, all I can say is...beautiful

A bit off the beaten track, but the sat-nav found it without bother, the Elephant & Castle is a friendly local restaurant and bar. Menu is mostly traditionally British and always features pies; one of us had a substantial beef and blue cheese pie which was delicious and came with a few proper chunky chips, also piping hot and crisp. I had the pork with crackling and mash; possibly more mash than I needed but the generaous piece of pork was cooked through without drying out and the crackling was very crisp, not too fatty, and seasoned just right. My veg was a bit dry though. Staff were friendly and attentive without being pushy. It was a pleasure to eat there, if it were closer I'd be back before long.

Disappointed with the main course new potatoes hard stuffing over cooked beef tough and dessert no sticky toffee on the pudding just burnt

I booked a table on line and paid a £10 deposit. It was not until some time after I’d left I realised the £10 had not been taken in to account on the bill. No, I haven’t chased it up but really I shouldn’t have to. The place itself is very nice and busy which indicates its popularity. Just check your bill if you paid a deposit in line.

Went for Sunday lunch food was amazing freshly prepared n more than plenty of it. Staff couldn't do enough. Definitely give this 5stars will be going again thankyou x

Loved the place if we was to go again I would ask for the middle of the pie I got the corner and the pastry was a bit overwhelming apart from that 10 out of 10

Came here for a 60th birthday breakfast. Food was delicious. Be warned, the Big E&C is BIG!! I was so full.

Went for Sunday dinner and really enjoyed it however, first time I’ve ever been charged extra for Mash Potato and Cauliflower Cheese (which they forgot to bring to the table) on an already expensive menu.

Visiting family, and we came here for Sunday lunch. Lovely pub staff were very helpful. Gluten-free item clearly stated on the menu. I had baked cod in a cream sauce on mash potatoes. Veg was put on the table to share. It was presented lovely. It was more expensive than l would normally pay for a Sunday lunch £18 but the quality was there, so l didn't mind.

First visit went for the date night menu which is £60 a couple including a bottle of wine. Was served pretty quickly and drinks arrived quickly. Starters were really nice me and hubby went for the fish goujons which were amazing. I chose steak as my main course which was an extra £4.95 but not sure I would pay this again as a very small piece even though it was very nice. Hubby had fish which he enjoyed. Our friends had the chicken dish but it wasn’t a very big portion although they said it was nice. Puddings were ok again it big portions. We had a lovely meal but we did feel a little rushed and seems a shame that it closes so early on a Saturday night. The car park barriers were closed when we left so our lift had no access. All in all we would return as enjoyed our meal.

not been here for a good 18 months as had a bad experience before so Give them the benefit of the doubt to try it again Because it’s a shame it used to be a lovely little place Nothing has changed The food is really bland No Test to it and cold in the middle and is well Complained to the owner about the food being cold , she did absolutely nothing about saying “ That’s how we serve it” it is over priced for what you get avoid

Went for lunch on Saturday, I had the steak and ale pie. It was awesome. I'm on a mission to find the best pie in the UK and this is the best so far. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Sadly I did not have room for dessert, they looked great. I did finish off with a white coffee, to my surprise it came with a small piece of parkin.

Great service but food was disappointing, hummus was bland, risotto was very dry and the garlic bread was hard, scampi was crisp on the outside but soggy on the inside, I personally wouldn't go back for food.

Best meal we’ve had in ages. Delicious, balanced menu. Reasonable prices. Excellent service. Family run joint - you can tell they take real pride in what they do.

This is a lovely restaurant, very clean and comfortable, lovely decor, staff are friendly and efficient. Menu is varied and reasonably priced, portions are good. I had a vegetarian stew, which was really fresh and tasty. My partner had scampi and chips with salad and an amazing dressing. We shared a delicious cheesecake. Definitely be back and would recommend. We loved the 80s music in the background too!

Me and my wife came here last night Our meal was amazing the food was cooked to order so fresh and tasted amazing the deserts were also unreal so tasty you could really tell they were home made - the nicest chocalate brownie I’ve ever had we also took some deserts home for our children and they loved them too I really can not fault this pub the food was amazing the staff friendly and attentive the price reasonable we will definitely come again please go and try this food at this beautiful little pub the food is amazing can’t wait to come again thanks guys

Very disappointed in our family lunch. Garlic mushrooms served on an over thick wedge of dry cardboard like bread. Tempura prawns were lovely and light but sickly sweet chilli sauce. Scampi very nice and crisp, but served with a teaspoon of tartar sauce obviously being rationed. Extra was brought out when requested. The huge oversized bland and tasteless chips … why?? What’s wrong with serving normal sized crispy chips? The roast chicken dinner came with pre gravied Yorkshire pudding which made it soggy and unappealing. Extremely dry Cayjun chicken was the biggest disappointment, and pretty inedible. When we requested a sauce we were told non was available. Perphaps if the coleslaw that should have accompanied the dish had appeared it may have improved it. But I doubt it. Three drinks, two starters with three main courses were £75. Not money well spent unfortunately.

Recently visited this pub for lunch with a friend and we left rather disappointed. The staff were nice and the atmosphere seemed fine however the food didn’t quite meet our expectations. We ordered an Antipasto from the main menu accompanied by a side order of sweet potato fries and a couple of glasses of Chardonnay but apart from the wine everything else was appalling. Assuming that the sharing starter of antipasto for £10 will be a charcuterie style selection of cured meats, cheese, olives dips and bread we received 4 slices of rock hard bread with 4 tiny dips (olive oil & balsamic, hummus, crushed olives, red pepper & tomato) The side order of sweet potato fries was soaked in oil and it was undercooked. Upon trying the above we decided not to waste our appetite on such mediocre food so I paid the bill of £25 and went elsewhere to have a proper meal. Sadly the experience was so bad that I doubt it that we would ever return or recommend the Elephant and Castle to anyone.

This one I can’t speak more highly of. The service was that I could expect in a high end London place. The prices albeit higher than the area still was very reasonable. The food I had was well presented. Since I’ve only eaten there once I can’t really comment, but I do look forward to widening my experience to comment more fully. Well done.

Service was excellent. Food was nice but the chips were undercooked and a bit white for my liking. Steak was cooked to perfection. Overall it was a nice meal for me and my wife sat at side of the log burner.

Lovely place to eat or just for drinks the food was amazing we was sat by the log fire which made it even better and if you book in advance to guarantee a table you can take dogs

The Elephant never fails ,superb food and service. 💯 % evertime . We've been going for years , the family team always make us welcome, and the food is excellent 👌. Cheesecakes are legendary.

New to area and the recommendation did not disappoint- we had the Sunday lunch menu, which was delicious and value for money. Staff were very attentive, nothing to much trouble for them. Will certainly be back thank you 😊

Best Sunday dinner I’ve had in a long time

Ate here quite a few times…weekday/Saturday late lunch and Sundays. Saturday was not up to the great standard we have usually received. We did have a check back and totally regret not mentioning the lack of chips with the burger meal. £16 for a burger, 6 chips and tiny coleslaw pot is not we expect from this usual great location.

Amazing Breakfast we have visited a country hotel near Whitby for over 10 years and have always thought their breakfast could not be beaten today it was.Delicious cooked to perfection pre ordered so served 5minutes after arrival Give a try you will not be disappointed

Visited for Sunday Lunch after we had heard other saying great things. Lunch was ok, beef was lovely, but it felt really rushed! Lunch is in timed sittings, and before we had sat down we were asked for our drinks order. Ordered food quickly after and it came 2 mins later. Check-backs 6 times whilst we were eating! Then same rush around desserts and to get the bill paid before our drinks were finished. Sunday lunch in 45 mins……Next!

Disappointed with our lunch. Waitress was asking for drinks order before we sat down. My son had pulled brisket wrap expecting the texture of pulled meat but it was just sliced beef and tough. I had beef and mushroom stew. I left most of it as the beef was very tough. I mentioned this to the waitress and a deduction of 10% was taken off my meal. I’m afraid we won’t be returning.

We were made to feel very welcome by the landlady and her staff, and went away feeling very full and satisfied. A shame you're not on our doorstep, but we will definitely be back, at least to try some of the other items on the menu.

Visited on the afternoon of the 04/11/23 on our way to a wedding reception nearby. The food and service was top notch in a cosy friendly environment. Give it a try folks You won’t be disappointed

We came to the Elephant and Castle to celebrate the start of our half term holiday. Date night is definitely worth going to with a delicious menu and a free bottle of wine to have with it! Trish and Adie are always very friendly and welcoming, with excellent service from all members of staff. Toni the chef always cooks tasty and delicious food with different specials to choose from as well as the normal menu. We will be going again soon!

Sunday lunch for my wife's birthday was amazing here. Excellent food, communication. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff and great to see people happy in their job roles. The lady owners communication/ organisation with staff shone. Cosy and great value. A credit to hospitality this place! 👍 Dare say it won't be our last visit. Well done.

We came here on Friday after seeing the Date Night menu on Facebook, we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course meal and a bottle of wine, the food, service and atmosphere was great and we’ll definitely be retuning for another Date Night soon

Warm fire side table and large portion of Steak and Ale Pie. The pie and extra gravy was very tasty, but a bit too much crust. I had to ask a couple of times for my extra drink but other than that, the service was friendly and it was well worth a visit

Went for Sunday lunch. Ordered and it came out 2 minutes later meaning it has been sat waiting. Everything was rock solid and dry. Had to hack through the chicken and the roast potatoes were basically solid. Charge you £3 for mash that was cold...

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, great for cyclists, plenty of outdoor space, clean facilities, and very kind and friendly people who work there. Thank you to Trish and all the staff there who helped me when stranded on my bike - they helped wrap up my leftover food for the journey, gave me directions to the station and filled up my water bottle. What a wonderful place that turned my situation around <3

Had a wedding dinner here yesterday about 75 people all had 3 course dinner, food was delicious everyone's meal came out hot and in good time of each other. Excellent service very accommodating even for a mobility scooter that wasn't prearranged. All staff very helpful and hard working. Thanks for a lovely celebration.

After my son and new daughter in law married, we had a meal for a small party. The manager and staff went out of their way to make it look special, decorating table and getting everything ready for our arrival. The food and service was excellent.

First time we’ve been for breakfast here. And it was absolutely beautiful! We had two of the E&C breakfasts, which were so fresh & really well presented. We will 100% be back! The staff are so lovely and friendly too! Keep up the amazing work...

Although fairly local to us this was our first visit, and we have been missing out on an absolute gem. The food was excellent. All home made, freshly cooked and well seasoned. Staff were very polite and service timely. Will definitely be visiting again.

Called in for a Saturday night treat. Food was lovely, great home cooked fresh food. Service is always friendly here and you are well looked after. We had our dessert out in the pretty beer garden absolutely perfect summers evening.

A regular choice for us for our date night. The food is always brilliant and the staff cater for wife who is gluten free. Nothing is ever too much trouble. We love the cosy atmosphere and music. Always a warm welcome and delicious food.
