Meh. It might have been our choice of dishes or taste, but the food was adequate not excellent. Service was adequate except slow when trying to get the check. Atmosphere was of a middling modern restaurant. There was no view due to the dinner ship docked across the full front of the restaurant. Maybe you'll be lucky. On the 'cheesecake', it's more of a whipped cream cake. Light and insubstantial. Pleasant tasting, but not the cheesecake I have had elsewhere in the world. The local scallops were served with the orange roe sack attached. Unusual in my experience. Edible and not unpleasant. The seared scallops themselves were good, but in the bottom 20% of scallops for overall taste. The salmon with Marnay sauce was good. Well prepared and tasty. The vegetables come with red pepper flakes, trendy, but I'd like to have seen it mentioned on the menu. It may be the best seafood in Oban. Just Oban.

Tl:DR Believe the hype. Worth travelling for. Excellent food and service in modern decor restaurant with cozy atmosphere. Great wine selection with decent recommendations for pairing. Be sure to book in advance. We came to Oban as a detour on our way back from holiday near Loch Tarbert, following a recommendation. My wife has a thing for seafood and planned it as a well deserved mini-treat for herself. Having been somewhat underwhelmed by the local sights on the particularly grey, miserable, rainy day we'd arrived, our hopes weren't particularly high in all honesty. We weren't disappointed. EE-USK is the phonetic pronunciation of the Gaelic for Fish according to the website. It's apt and the menu reflects accordingly. Reasonably priced particularly in the current climate. If you don't like seafood or don't eat fish, go to their sister restaurant Piazza next door. Although it seemed a bit pricey in comparison to other menu items, as this was a special treat, we went all out and ordered the Grand Platter "for two", with a portion of chips naively added on (on the off chance our 9 yr old son was in a fussy mood). Now as I've mentioned my wife is partial to sea food, and as a result we've eaten alot of seafood platters, in various places around the world over the past 16ish years. This was up there with the best of them. A superb balance of flavours from the sea, with decent amount of different components (cooked & uncooked) and no obvious filler. I got about 1/2 way through before starting to notice what can only describe as akin to a religious experience, with emergence of a zen like calm and focus as I found myself savouring the various subtle nuances of different textures and flavours. It was also much bigger than anticipated. I had barely eaten anything all day and am known to have a bottomless pit for a stomach. Reader, I'm ashamed to admit that we failed to finish it completely, which is unprecedented 😳 Believe the hype. It's worth making the trip for. I strongly suspect we'll be making a regular annual/biannual pilgrimage from London (at least until we can conquer the platter...)

Hostess acted like she'd rather be anywhere else. Waitress was helpful and friendly. Mashed potatoes were served cold. Langoustine was good. Lasagna needed something.

Compared to my last visit earlier , this year, which was excellent. This visit was very disappointing. The Smoked Haddock Chowder was over salted and had obviously been sitting for some time before being served as it was luke warm and had a skin on the surface. The Salmon Mornay was the same, and the added Queen Scallops were not prepared properly as they had grit in them. All in all, it's not what I expected from EE USK.

This is a lovely restaurant with great views out to sea, there is a strange entrance but I assume that it is for the summer time. The staff were very good they lead us to a table by the window and service was attentive but not intrusive. The food was very fresh we had oysters good size and tasty, but only lemon juice or tobasco, also had to scrape the oysters off the shells to be able to slide them hence the loss of star. We had the mixed seafood platters very good but the mussels seemed to have been taken out of the broth then onto the plate, an idea maybe, put it in a small seperate bowl with some of the broth. Had a good time here.

Do not order the seafood penne. We could not eat it due to lack of flavor

I feel even the atmosphere might have gone a five stars, if it wasn't for our extreme hunger and therefore early dinner reservation. The restaurant was kind of empty because of that. Even though I am not a big fan of sea food, being in the sea food capital of north Scotland, the only right choice was to get seafood. This place came highly recommended and with good reason. Professional staff able to engage in normal friendly banter as we desperately tried to have google tell us how to eat the delicious dishes served to us. The location is also just right on.

Ordered the lobster, completely below average only nice thing I have to say about the food was the pickled onions on a lettuce boat. Will not be returning as my lobster had little to no meat and I was not given a handwashing bowl.

Fresh oysters and mussels with great portion. Right by the riverside, good place for dates Crab was average Seafood penne was well seasoned and tasty 🤤 We ordered lemon cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding and they were not very up to standard. Cheesecake was too airy… Staff were friendly ☺️

What a lovely place to eat and view the scenery. The food is gorgeous and always a culinary experience. We went on old years night perfect surroundings and a lovely gent playing the accordion. Highly highly recommend 👌

Visited 4th Jan at 18.00. The restaurant was quiet and only a few tables were taken. By 19.00 all tables were taken. Food was amazing, and service with 3 young members of staff could not be faulted. Recommend booking before visiting. Looking forward to heading back to Oban in the near future

Absolutely delicious. Like, wow. It's also quite warm by the window, and the view of the harbor, the town, and the islands from here is just amazing. They have branded versions of their cute little red pepper grinders available for purchase, too.

This was the best seafood restaurant we have ever dined at. Food was really good, tasty and it felt fresh. It might seem a bit pricey but it isn’t for what you get. If in Oban, definitely try this out if you’re a seafood fan

Had reservations for a Weekday Dinner and Weekend Lunch. Weekday Dinner: Central location. Awesome views. Food was underwhelming though. I had the fish selection. None of the cuts packed a punch. Insipid and visually unappealing. The potatoes and sauce saved the day. Service was also just lukewarm. Overall, not value for money. EE-Usk seemed to be a venerable institution in the Oban food scene but I was rather disappointed. I cancelled the 2nd reservation for the Weekend Lunch.

My booking had not completed. Internet glitch? Therefore, despite several window tables being available, I was told I couldn’t have one!!This is an attitude guaranteed to irritate. Food very good. Atmosphere pretty soulless. It’s not like it used to be when it was a vibrant passionate space.

Perfect setting for Obin. Sitting right on the dock by the water. It was raining on our visit, but the scallops were to die for. Fresh beyond fresh. Lemon cheesecake, oh my.. It's a bit pricey, but you're on vacation - enjoy yourself! Family friendly but feels like a place to take your significant other for together time. Lovely food a tad pricey but seafood was very fresh

Delicious local seafood. Quick friendly service. Would definitely recommend! The special starter was a huge Asian scallop that was so succulent, and my main was the fish selection which was so much food! Absolutely delicious hake, sea bass, and lemon sole. The sides were also very good.

Oddly enough, the food and service were both very good. Our complaint was that there were 6 adults and 4 children and we were charged a £36 service charge, which I felt unjustified. On asking for this to be removed ( to then give my own tip) the waitress's reaction was anything but customer friendly and definitely spoiled what up to then had been a nice meal out. In my view charging a service charge for over 6 people, should only be for adults.

Lovely food as always. Great friendly staff. As it was quieter than usual the playlist of ‘music to drive you away’ made us leave immediately after we finished our meal. Come on it is 2023. Get a subscription to Spotify pay your music licenses and give those delightful members of staff the controls. It can only be a massive improvement on the drivel played at the moment.

We heard such great things about this place we actually made reservations for 2 nights. We were so disappointed we cancelled the 2nd night. I'm quite confused by people raving about the Thai Fisk Cakes. They are basically bland fish cakes with Sweet Thai Chili Sauce on top. Honestly those should be an appetizer, not a meal. All 3 of us just thought this place was ok.

The restaurant where we ate last year was closed and walked to the other pier where we found this one. Had a table which looked out over the dock so something to look at. There was a slight delay in being seen so I ordered drinks at the bar which were brought to our table together with menus. I ordered Scallops with veg and a potato dish which turned out not to be available so I chose to go without any potatos. A good number of medium Scallops which came with the Roe which I enjoy and always try to request. Mixed veg which came as if blended but was most enjoyable. My wife had fish and chips which were a good portion and very good. I had a nice Rose'. Apart from the slow start the service was good as was the food.

First class meal.Excellent from coming through the door to leaving.My husband and myself shared the large mussels with crusty bread,just delicious.Our mains were scallops with veg and potato gratin,perfectly cooked and extremely tasty.2 sea bass fillets with mash,spring onion and a leek and cream veg on the side.Perfect.The staff were lovely and very attentive.If I was to have a “negative” it would be to have a pincer fork for the mussels,that’s it,nothing else was negative.Nothing was rushed.Plenty time between courses (this is one of my must haves) Not overly priced in comparison to other seafood places in Oban.We left happy and smacking our lips.We’ll definitely return and will recommend to others visiting Oban.We’ll done Ee-usk

Wonderful seafood. Langostines we plentiful and excellent. Halibut was excellent. My wife proclaimed the scallops the best she’s ever had. Service was excellent. There was a screwup on our reservations (maybe our fault), but the figured out a way to squeeze us in on a very busy night.

We had a nice spot by the window watching the boats go by. I had the scallop gratin which was very nice. Thai fish cakes were a bit spicy and heavy though friend loved it.

Had a meal here recently and was very disappointed. Great location and nice decor but the food was basic, bland and overpriced. Wetherspoon’s level pub grub at fine dining prices. Classic tourist trap. I had the scallops and chorizo to start, they were very average and the chorizo was undercooked. The other starters were very bland and basic, food you can easily cook better at home. I had the half lobster as a main and was quite shocked to see it served with unseasoned oven chips (exactly like the Aldi/Lidl skin on fries, come on chef WTF) and a basic side salad that was the same on every starter and main. The lobster itself was ok but forgettable. The trio of salmon was three pieces of unseasoned salmon on a plate with undressed salad leaves, the same supermarket oven chips and a small amount of Coleman’s horseradish sauce. The salmon itself was good quality but this was a weird dish that did not do it justice. Other dishes coming out looked equally basic. Didn’t stay for deserts. Won’t be coming back. Do yourself a favour and go to the seafood shack instead.

Amazing scallops in Thai sauce. The best ever sea food platter we have ever tasted. The mussels inva yummy garlic, creamy sauce; fresh full of different flavours. The sea Bass with leek sauce just flaked off with ease and melted in your mouth. We will be back.

Overall, it's an okay restaurant. Service was quick but not very polite or personable. Tables are basically on top of each other but the aesthetic is nice and the location is cool (right on the waterfront). The mussels are great, but every other seafood item was subpar. Coming from New England in the US, my wife and I guess have been spoiled when it comes to seafood. This place just didn't have good stuff. The scallops were overcooked beyond belief to the point of being burnt (the entire outer layer was charred like burnt wood). The smoked salmon was alright but we have found better for half the price in pubs. The langoustines and crab claws were okay so thats fine. I will say, lobster is 10x better (and its not even close). The price is actually not bad, but the flavor was lacking. I've already had better scallops, salmon, and sea bream than this place serves and they were in small little pubs. I guess thats where the best food is at in scotland, so we'll stick to those.

The service and location were good however unfortunately the dishes we had weren't. The fish cake was dry, accompanied sauce was tasteless. Some of the mussels were cold and the sauce was ok. For seafood penne, the pasta was rubbery and the sauce tasted like ready made jar sauce. Prices were high, £18 for the pasta and we expected the quality to match however we were disappointed. Maybe we were just unlucky or just chose bad dishes however we will not be coming back to find out.
