Ed's Easy Diner - York Designer Outlet in York

Terrible service no staff but food it usually good. Not this time burgers were dry bread roll burnt chips over salty. Three burgers and chips and a drink each cost £49 so also overpriced. It is usually our treat when we go the the york outlet. Will not be going back will go to McDonald's for a nicer and cheaper burger.

Great place for breakfast. Well cooked and fresh. Friendly staff. Very clean with a nice atmosphere. Would recommend.

The food here may be incredible, I’ll never know. Having been ignored waiting to be seated, we decided to grab one of the various empty tables. This did the trick and sparked the waiting staff into life, who promptly delivered menus and a reprimand for taking seating matters into our own hands. No offer of drinks was made, 10 minutes later we’d not so much as made eye contact. Judging my the many other tables of grumpy looking customers with no food, decided to cut out losses and go elsewhere and avoid the eternal wait. In fairness to the one poor bloke covering all the tables, management should never have left a place with this capacity with just one waiter.

To say there was only one waiter to greet and seat customers, take orders and payments, make and serve drinks, deliver food and clear tables, he did a fantastic job and all with a smile on his face! Food when it arrived was very tasty too.

First and last time we've been .....food takes forever and the staff had obviously blocked off all the inside tables as they either couldn't cope or didn't have enough staff ......acual food was decent but forgot my sides and didn't bother asking as it had taken forever to get food .....didn't wait for deserts as my patience wouldn't run to it .....even had to go to the desk to try get the bill as noone came near us ..

Been here lots of times and have noticed the last 3 visits the service and staff getting progressively worse. This morning we walked out as felt the staff had lost control of the kitchen. The chef was having a melt down and the whole thing was a shambles. So we waited to be seated. It was not full the seats at the front were all taken so about 7 tables but the WHOLE of the inside of the restaurant was empty. Sat us down and we asked if we could order straight away as we didn’t need to look at the menus. She said ok I will be back in a minute. I could then see the chef pointing at us and telling her off for seating us inside. So she came over and asked us to move to a different table we weren’t happy and couldn’t see why but did move. We had already made it clear we were ready to order but when she came back she said we could only order drinks and not food. So my husband asked why can’t we order our food we know what we would like. So she again mumbled and only being able to take a drinks order because she had been told not to overwhelm the kitchen! What on earth!!! Overwhelm the kitchen, the place wasn’t even busy. So we got up and walked out after my husband made his feelings of their incompetence clear. This place is a disgrace. Do not open a restaurant if you can’t cope with more than a quarter full restaurant. Basically we went to Pret got served straight away and when we had finished we were walking past Ed’s and noticed some couples who had been seated before us were still only sat with drinks no food This place was good 2 years ago ran by lads with tattoos all young and all good at their jobs. Clean smart and friendly now it’s full of rubbish staff who look scruffy dirty and have no customer service skills.

While the food was fine, service was not the best. My meal was brought to the table well before the rest of my family's meals. This meant I could either eat it while they waited for theirs or wait myself, although by the time theirs came, my meal would have been cold. For just a burger, chips, and a drink, I thought it was a bit pricey. We've been to other Ed's before, but this visit was a bit disappointing

They were short staffed when we visited, and it showed. We were seated relatively quickly, but no one took out the order. we had to shout someone over. Food came quite quickly and was OK. No cutlery on the table or brought with food. Again, I had to try grab someone for this. Staff were friendly but clearly struggling.

We were left disappointed after visiting Ed’s recently. We waited at the door for 5minutes with no smile, greeting or “we’ll be with you soon”. The restaurant was not full, we could see 6 empty tables from where we were stood. Waiting staff were stood around appearing to not be doing a lot. I appreciate that the kitchen may have been busy at this time, but inform your customers if this, do not just ignore them. After we were seated it took 15minutes for our order to be taken. Again, inform your customers if there will be a wait, as we did not mind waiting at all, but being ignored was extremely frustrating. Our meals were good, but unfortunately this did not make up for the extremely poor service.

Very disappointed, waited a long time to be seated as only one person waiting on tables, another long wait to place order. Understaffed, additional staff arriving which started to clear backlog.

Nice clean restaurant. Friendly staff. Service was good. Food was nice and worth the prices. Milkshakes are really big and tasty. Service got slower as restaurant got busy as there didn't seem to be many staff members. Good atmosphere though and would return

Me and my partner thought we would go on a drive out to York designer outlet. While we where there we thought we would go for some lunch at EDS EASY DINER We had to wait 30 minutes to get served when it was practically empty and after reminding them they still took another 10-15 minutes. There was 2 waiters absolutely useless chatting to one another. Food was also average and very over priced. Never going again

Absolutely appalled rude front of house wanted my group to stand and wait until other diners finished there meals restaurant was only half full wouldn't hold a table rather turn us away was told first come first served. Needs to get retrained and some manners!

Went here post-lockdown and was amazed by how efficient, kind, and friendly the staff were. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they really went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. All too often, service in places like this can be a little slow and clumsy, but we did not have to ask for anything, not even drink refills, as they were offered by the waitress before we even asked. The food was delicious and half price on the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. Would highly recommend this place.

American diner?Seriously!You're having a laugh.Absolute joke of a restaurant.Crap food,small portions at rip off prices.American themed diner that resembles nothing remotely like anything in the States.Expecting a large fully loaded plate as is the norm in the States.Fifteen quid for a pathetic looking burger & a tiny portion of chips on a pathetic looking plate.Sent it back & refused to pay.Any Yank would have laughed this place out of business within a week.Can't fool customers with ripping people off & flogging a dead horse.These shysters are an insult to any true American diner in the USA.Needs closing down.Hopefully the rest of this chain will follow suit & disappear for good.

We visited here yesterday, the 29th February 2020 at lunch time and thoroughly enjoyed the food, which was very good and competitively priced too. The waiter, a young man with tattoos, provided a good service and asked us both if either of us had any allergies, as he gave us the menu. This is a great way of establishing customer needs and requirements. We both had the homemade beef burger patties and waffle fries. The burger patties are really lovely. We were not aware of the free drink refill until we actually read it on trip advisor a moment ago, so maybe the floor staff could let the customers know about this at the time of ordering! We would definitely go back to Ed's Easy Diner again, when we visit McArthur Glen, as we thoroughly enjoyed it. Its obviously popular as it was packed and people were queuing up to go in!

After shopping till we dropped we needed a pick me up and Ed's diner did that! I can not believe we have never heard of this place before we visited. Theres a huge selection of burgers and American style hot dogs etc. Eveything was 5* from the Tate to the presentation to the lovely waiter who was on his own this particular day. He did everything he could to attend to us and keep us happy. The bottomless drinks are definitely worth it and your not waiting on a refill either the waiters are switched on and attentive to your needs. Everything must be made fresh because the taste was too nice for it not too be! The best birthday meal I've had :) will return to the outlet probably just for Ed's ha ha

Shocking food , service diabolical & desperate , overpriced. Guy with the tattoos was about as interested as a corpse . The only time he engaged himself was when we were paying in the hope there would be a tip probably. Well we have a tip for him : Smile more if you enjoy your work and if you don’t then leave. Cold chips , portion sizes are poor , no cutlery ands had to ask someone for it , it came eventually!.. do not go !

Visited here with my eleven year old son after a morning shopping at the outlet. On arrival we were told of 4/5 things on the menu that they were out of stock of - they were mainly breakfast items that we wouldn’t have ordered anyway as we were there for burgers. The male server who took our order couldn’t have been less interested which was a shame really. I asked for one of the burgers slightly different to how it was on the menu but the server just grunted they’re cooked as they’re listed. When I pushed my request he responded with an eye roll and said that he’d ask the kitchen for me! Quite rude I thought. Food arrived as requested and was hot, portions were quite small though especially the sides of fries. Plates were cleared but we weren’t asked if we would like dessert, instead just presented with the bill. Would probably rather go to McDonalds than return.

I can not believe I never knew about this place!! The burgers are to die for from the presentation to the Tate everything was 5* the waiter was on his own on the day we visited but he did a really good job in making sure we had everything we needed and topping up our bottomless drinks! You can tell everything is made fresh, they even do their own onions rings. Oh it was so good what a birthday treat!!!

Extremely small portions for the price, we paid £64.00 for four burger meals with drinks. The burges are half the size of similar resteraunts, and of Ed's competitors... my husband had a value burger from McDonald's straight after.. certainley not a filling portion.A Big mac is a larger portion.. and a fraction of the cost.

Visited for breakfast at the end of December and although the restaurant wasn't especially busy, we had to wait for drinks and to place our order. Disappointed straight away as only coffee was on offer for hot drinks - no tea and no hot chocolate! Not sure why, it's not that hard to put boiling water on a tea bag. After 25 minutes we gave up waiting for breakfast and had to ask the waiter to cancel our order. We've visited this restaurant in the past (it wasn't called Ed's Diner then) and it was really good - such a pity that it has gone downhill in a competitive market. We won't return.

Fui a almorzar hoy. Fue un día muy ocupado pero fuimos a almorzar alrededor de las 3:30 pm. . . . elección muy triste para nosotros: uno tiene un desayuno inglés completo. . . Qué mal puedes ir, el tocino estaba duro como si estuviera cocido hace 2 h y en trozos grandes. Los frijoles horneados parecían calentados, y recalentados y recalentados, solo se podían ver la mitad de los frijoles en la salsa espesa. Quiero decir, ¿cómo puedes equivocarte con el desayuno inglés completo, la cafetería de mi ciudad funciona mejor por 1/2 del precio! Tuve hamburguesa de tocino y tuve que pagar extra por papas fritas. Bueno, al menos para decir, apenas podía saborear ese tocino, era un trozo de tocino duro, del tamaño de 3 legos pequeños. Las empanadas de carne sabían bien, pero ese tocino. . En serio, ¿cómo puedes equivocarte con tocino? ? ? Mis papas fritas deben haber estado en el mostrador durante media hora:

The food is way overpriced for the portions you get. Spent £40 on 3 burgers! Supposed to get a deal where you get a side for a discounted price but on my receipt I got charged extra! AVOID

I went with my daughter for breakfast. I ordered the veggie breakfast she ordered the pancakes with bacon off the kid's menu. She doesn't like bacon though so I asked if they could replace it with another pancake (they didn't). The breakfast menu states at the top in very big writing "Bottomless breakfast: Order any Ed's breakfast. Clear your plate, and go again and again..." My daughter has been ill and had not being eating for the last couple of days but her appetite must have returned so she polished off the mini pancakes in super quick time so having checked the menu for any exclusions to the offer I ordered her the same again.

This place is ideal for eating something naughty after buying loads of naughty clothes! Fattening but what the hell, the classic hot dog with mustard and a strawberry milkshake hit the spot before finding the energy to carry all your bags back to the car!!

We done breakfast here to set us up for a day of Xmas shopping . Was a bit expensive and wait was lengthy

On arrival we where informed that it was cash only as the card machine wasn’t working, ok it happens but then we were told we had to sit right at the front of the café as the inside tables weren’t ready, ok it happens but when the next customers following us were shown to a table inside I was all for leaving but one of our party really wanted to stay so begrudgingly we did.

Had great time in there the staff was so friendly spent time to talk to you very helpful from start to finish the food we had was very nice I do recommend it the mint Oreo was so great it was so filling

So looking forward to very first time at Ed’s and having breakfast as on holiday in York and hubby from Canada who is huge American breakfast fan.

On Saturday 16 November 2019 I took my wife to a lovely diner inside York’s designer outlet Called Ed’s Easy Diner.

Took my other half here for his birthday meal as he loves burgers etc.(also is a vegetarian) Didn't disappoint! Food was amazing, really tasty, so were the drinks (unfortunately they ran out of root beer floats!) and the dessert, yum! Definitely will return.

I had the rack of ribs which was great well cooked and fell off the bones the waiters were helpful and friendly in a clean well organised restaurant

Llegamos a la tienda de diseñador a las 0900 y tratamos de encontrar un lugar para desayunar, todos los lugares interesantes abrieron a las 0930, así que tuvimos que esperar, la espera valió la pena. Teníamos el desayuno completo de Ed y fue realmente bueno con porciones de tamaño razonable.

En primer lugar, recordemos que esta es una tienda de comida rápida. Mi esposa y yo fuimos allí para una cena rápida y razonable, y lo conseguimos. Las hamburguesas estaban buenas, las papas fritas también, y mi esposa, vegetariana, también tenía una buena hamburguesa vegetariana. El servicio era un poco lento, pero nada serio. En general, una buena experiencia.

Visité hoy aquí y lamentablemente me decepcionó la calidad de la comida. La carne de hot dog era dura, lo que me hizo preguntarme qué había en ella. Los lados estaban bien, calidad estándar. Lo mejor fue el batido y las bebidas gaseosas recargables.

Took a few minutes to seat us even though there were 3 waitresses and only 3 full tables. Then took them another 10 minutes to take our order. I ordered the classic burger and my partner ordered the bubba burger, open kitchen so we could see it all being cooked. Food arrived after 30 minutes even though they were only cooking our food and another couple's and when the food arrived they got the order wrong so I sent mine back, they cooked me a new one whilst leaving the wrong burger on the side... 20 minutes later they gave that same burger to another customer!!! Disgusting will never eat there again! They need to do less talking and more working.

First and last time I’d eat here,the food was very bland no flavour to speak of and the waffle fries I ordered were just about warm and the onion rings were greasy and floppy.We also ordered 2 cherry Pepsi Max’s which came in warm cans and were more than £5.00.My partner had the burger which was nothing to get excited about and I had the chicken and waffle which was small and if not for the maple syrup would have tasted if nothing.All for over £30.Not value for money at all left underwhelmed.

All was good at Eds diner, service was quick, food good, price reasonable for this type of place. Wanted a quick lunch, and that's what we got.

We sat down for breakfast and was informed they had run out of hash browns, orange juice and they weren’t serving milkshakes till lunch as they were low on ice cream! OK! To compensate for the lack of hash browns you could have extra of something else. Considering hash browns were the staple of the veggie breakfast this wasn’t great. (No veggie sausages) I chose extra mushrooms, which when they arrived looked like a normal size portion. My daughter had waffles which had lumps of granulated sugar, no icing sugar in sight! Maybe they had run out of that too. Extra toast was ordered and forgotten until we had nearly finished and the coffee was weak. All in all a really disappointing experience! There are many other restaurants that after we had eaten and we walked past looked great and wished we had gone there, I recommend you do the same!

Breakfast. Lovely cooked breakfast started off the day well. Little pricey at £7.99 but the staff very courteous and helpful. Also a point to mention is we were asked if we had any food allergies before we started 👌Would definately visit again

Food was ok, but only warm. Service terrible, waitress actively encouraged complaints and was clearly unhappy in her job. Asked if we wanted bill without even being offered a dessert etc. We left. Wouldn't go back. Shame.

We visited today during a shopping trip with the family. We walked and were immediatly seated by the manager. After looking over the menu for about 2 minutes a lovely waitress who we found out was called Jo came over for drinks, she asked if we wanted longer for food and then came back after 5 minutes and took our food order. She paid special to the kids asking them for their orders first and taking her time with them making them feel like grown ups. She kept our refillable drinks full without them getting empty and was happy and friendly every conversation she had with us. When it came to the bill Jo excelled herself with amazing customer service as she asked if we had any vouchers and then informed us that the deal of the day was better than the 10% off we had so she did that. As my husband went to pay she saw his military I. D and said wait the discount you get with being military was more so let me sort that for you. Jo's excellent service made our meal much more enjoyable and saved us 20%.

I would give the food a 5 star but the service let them down. When ordered the woman messed up on the main and the dessert, after asking them the dessert was wrong they accused me of saying that was wrong and not willing to change.

Been here before and was good however this time around the experience was a total let down ,, tea and coffee were poor food was a little cold best thing was the shakes,, staff was very friendly but sadly not going back no more.

Went here yesterday for the first time. Quick service and fast food delivery. I had chicken burger, fries and onion rings. It was truly delicious. I'd definitely go again. Meerkat offer made it very reasonable too.
