I love the coffee here and the knowledge of the staff who can help and advise you with different blends or roasts in the shop. It’s fantastic having somewhere so close that does such good quality coffee! However, the selection of items available in the shop and cafe are a lot more limited than they used to be and there doesn’t seem to be the buzz that there used to be here. I hope it picks up again soon - depending on what the management are doing - as it’s a great place to go for a quick coffee or longer visit if you prefer

1st experience here and it will be the last. Ordered 2 coffees and a cake both with chocolate sprinkles on top, only 1 came with it, they do not accept cash which is absolutely ridiculous! We sat in the ‘cube’ seating area which was filthy, because you have to return your own trays to the outside table when you’re finished I don’t suppose the tables that have been occupied by people are cleaned down very regularly. Don’t look up when you’re sat in there as there is thick cobwebs everywhere you look.

I have been visiting Edgcumbes for both coffee, tea, bread and snacks since the day they opened. The lady in the shop, as well as all the staff have always been super friendly, knowledgable and willing to help. I am always greeted by a lovely smile by the lady in the shop and I can tell that she takes pride in not only her customer service, but her knowledge of all the products offered. She is an asset to this business.

I have visited Edgecumbes since the early days, before the current coffee house was built. The service has always been slow but the baristas knowledgeable and the coffee worth waiting for. However in recent months there has been a big change; a seemingly high turnover and reduction in the number of barista staff has resulted in a less than welcoming ambience and longer than usual waits for our drinks. There are other problems, too; on my last two visits there has been a shortage of clean cups, resulting in the use of takeaway cups and this week our coffees were decidedly lukewarm. I would have complained but the single barista had a long queue waiting for drinks, so I left it. Standards of cleanliness in the loo have also declined. All in all, my last visit has made me question whether I want to return. However good the coffee, the poorer customer experience makes that unlikely.

We’ve been here a number of times but not for many months. We arrived at mid morning and the food on offer was already very spartan, especially hot food. I did opt for a bacon roll which came out very crispy indeed from the ‘oven’. Cakes were ok for the women but nothing here is cheap. My large coffee was served in a very unsatisfactory plastic ‘beaker’ as was mint tea. We went here as it’s local and dog friendly with space, but the lack of coffee shop experience, along with minimal food choice and cost means another return is unlikely. It was better before.

So so slow service. Quick to take your money and then forever the wait to get your coffee. Normally get a pastry or similar but today there was some mind blowing prices being displayed so thought better of it. Spotted a customer cleaning the cutlery from the cutlery tray which looked rank. I was really looking forward to coming here as we live locally and often pass by and wanted to try the place. Firstly we walked in and said hello, the gentleman with the tattoos and hat on didn’t acknowledge us and said sullenly ‘what coffee do you want?’ We ordered two coffees and cakes, there was no chatting, smiling or interaction from him whatsoever. This made for an uncomfortable experience whilst we were waiting. To be fair the coffee was excellent but we couldn’t wait to leave, I work in a customer facing role and I was shocked at how poorly his attitude was. You can see my previous reviews we do go out a lot and I am generally very positive on the places we visit. We will not be coming back, very disappointed.

I was charged £8.60 for two oat milk coffees with caramel….ridiculously over priced - didn’t taste good either. I object to being charged 50p more per cup for oat milk. Medium size is gone in about four mouthfuls. Service rubbish as well - was left standing at till for 5 minutes whilst staff did other trivial things. This used to be a great place back in the day but they’ve lost their heritage. Last time I visited had the same tasteless coffee / will never visit this place again. Rip off merchants

I have been a loyal customer here for years since they first started selling retail coffee from the small office. I love the brand, the company ethics & staff usually very welcoming. However in the past year there has been some staff changes & in particular there is a male member of staff who does not greet you or make you feel valued as a customer , everything seems to be an effort like he’s doing you a favour & he doesn’t even look you in the eye. I have raised this before with management but sadly nothing has changed & I won’t be returning. Yesterday there was this man making the coffee & another man taking orders. Both lacked customer service. Anything heated was burned to a crisp including cheese toasties & sausage rolls, they forgot half of our order & I noticed a customer after us got a totally different drink than she’d ordered. I don’t mind paying the high prices there but I expect guaranteed decent customer service - a smile & welcome to start with. Such a shame as the setting is superb & the coffee is good.

We have been loyal customers of Edgcumbes for many years and purchased £100s of products over that time. We recently went for coffee at the cafe in Ford only to be met with rudeness when we asked for proper porcelain cups rather than the plastic cups we were given. We were told that in future we would only be able to have plastic cups (recycled plastic) and not have the choice to have a porcelain cup for our coffee at the cafe. As a result of this experience, we considered it appropriate to give customer feedback as suggested on Edgcumbes website. We did so because we imagined that we may not be the only customers disappointed to pay a premium price for coffee served in a plastic cup. However, despite two emails we received NO acknowledgement or reply and so sadly we will have no option but to take our custom elsewhere.

We have been here a few times recently, as a couple and with the family, including dogs. Parking is always easy and dogs are allowed in the inside seating areas. I alway have to ask for my coffee to be extra hot otherwise it is too cool for me. Since we first started visiting the hot food selection has reduced down to bacon bap’s and ham & cheese toasties. A nice coffee shop but limited food selection.

Never normally had a bad visit but this Sunday at 14:30 felt way off. The gentleman serving was extremely aloof, blunt and ‘looky’. We had the vibe we were an inconvenience especially when asking about the cakes we were ordering. I don’t think it’s unheard of to ask for clarification on a product when you’re paying £4.25 for a small slice. The two ladies making our coffees were as pleasant as always and the vibe of the area was nice. Wouldn’t rush back now.

One running about frantically then removing burnt food from the oven.....hmmm. no greeting. bloke on the till who our order had zero dynamic. Monosyllabic whispers. Seemed confused. We ordered two coffees and savoury food as that was in a covered cabinet behind the counter. Limited choice. Very compact inside seating. Bit like Lilliput. We opted to sit outside in the sunshine. We were told our order would be brought out. 10 minutes later the coffee finally arrived. Underwhelming as tepid at best. Gushing apology from the waiting staff. Almost asked where our toasted sandwiches were. But didn't. Would regret that. 15 minutes later still no food. Went back in to be told they had 'forgot'. Is it me? What sort of system for you have in a cafe that you forget orders? Toasties finally arrived and we're very nice. Good sized portion. Hot and tasty. Quick lunch spoilt by feral spawn of Beelzebub running around screaming outside. As always parents seem to be oblivious to the effect their behaviour has on others. Not the cafes fault I agree. But in top of the chaotic and slow service it did not help. We were given two free coffee cards as an apology. Will I be back to use them. Probably not. Coffee was underwhelming. Clientele is a strange mix. Middle class coffee snobs all sitting around posing . Senior citizens. And feral families.

They offer a house espresso plus the Niche choice of beans for filter and pour over coffee. Next door is a kitchen offering training courses in Coffee and food. Needless to say also you can buy the beans you fell in love with to take home and replicate your coffee drink.

I've run out of coffee, the Sussex brew is amazeballs, I've not been since the new cafe opened but think I need to because this is such a cool place to get your caffeine hit. Go there.

Well presented cafe area with pleasant and friendly staff. The latte was excellent and my partner had a Turmeric tea, which was excellent too.

Popped in for lunch and enjoyed a lovely bacon toastie, with equally hot and flavoursome cappuncino. Loved the outside sitting. I gained a friend of a lovely sweet dog. Will definitely return when passing again.

We have been coming here for a couple of years now the first was in the tiny servers area and we watched with bated breath as the extension / development of remote buildings took shape housing a W/C seating / tables and cookery kitchen. Eventually opened and we visit as often as possible, coffee is best for miles and miles, and they do home made snacks such as filled croissants, and the biggest toastie you ever seen, very tasty . Dog friendly, plenty of parking now and very popular. Staff very friendly, you can buy coffee beans and leaf tea plus equipment. Do visit but please leave room for us two + dog

No greeting on arrival even though it was quiet, no welcoming smile, barely acknowledged our arrival. We ordered drinks and 2 toasted sandwiches. Took our drinks outside to sit in the sun. The sandwiches never arrived. When my husband went back to see how much longer, there was no apology even though the staff had completely forgotten to do them. We decided, as we had finished our drinks, just to get our money back. Still no apology.

We came here for lunch having heard about the new eat in cafe. Our dog was welcomed and the coffee and food was good (although a limited choice). It is a perfect location as there is a footpath a 30 second walk away so we went for a lovely walk afterwards. Toileta were clean. We'll add thia to our list of regular stops!

Have driven past here dozens of times but never had the time to stop. Finally made a point of coming here on Saturday late morning and was not disappointed. As all the other reviews testify, the coffee is excellent. My daughters also enjoyed the 'cold chocolate' and the brownies. All for a decent price. Will be even better when the work outdoors is complete

Jim used to run the cafe in Middleton-on-Sea which is sorely missed, so we decided to see how he was getting on at no.72. - Very well with Sarah still there, and a nice lady called Caroline who was on trial for the day. I hope she stays because she wasn't nervous at all d served the perfect large mug of tea. Our lunches were perfect too. I chatted with other customers who were really friendly. Thanks Jim - so good to see you again xx

Katie and I came here with a small family group for a spot of lunch in the sun. Great welcome, friendly staff and good food. Beer a bit expensive but there's a wide variety on offer. Overall a great afternoon and we'll return for sure.

Outstanding eatery for a good selection of beautifully crafted bagels with great service and even better coffee. A hidden gem in Arundel and perfect for brunch whilst out on the SDW.

My espresso was excellent, good balanced flavour with hints of chocolate on the after taste. Service was a bit slow but it was lunchtime on a Saturday.
