YUCK! Who likes jelly gravy & dried out food?! Well if you do then this place is for you. Honestly, I have never been anywhere quite so bad. The meat was dried out & hard. The gravy was beyond words, see photos. Veg dry. The table was sticky, when I wiped it with my own wet wipes it was black with filth. Avoid this place unless you want a bad experience.

We went for an evening meal to finish our holiday in bognor... when we arrived we alerted the waiter that we would be sitting outside he said that was OK and we began to look at menus.. you scan a code and pay before you eat or drink I like that it's less hassle .. the diet coke we wanted was not sold it's a syrup and sda water from a pump not so good we never drank it .. the food was freezer chips my pie was cold the wait was endless for the food we didn't get home till it was dark that's a no from us we won't go again unless time is not an issue I don't recommend this place...

I came with 11 of my family for my birthday. Lilly was our waitress and she was lovely, very friendly attentive and helpful. Would definitely come back.

Couldn't give a lower rating if I wanted. Long wait to get served, carvery stone cold including cold Yorkshire puddings. Dismissive staff when asked to move table. Go anywhere but here.

Great food as always. My one issue was the garden location. Being in a retail park I understand that there is a lack of space but the outside area is in the middle of an intersection so quite fumey. The back area would have been more suitable but theres permissions involved etc

Staying at Rowan campsite and found this pub within walking distance , dog friendly and nice food with a good variety of drinks including non alcoholic berries and cherries Old Mout, assistant manager Luke was really impressive, very knowledgeable and friendly and looked after us and our doggies .

Came for a meal and to watch the football, everything was perfect. Service from Louie and Ellie on the bar was great and Owen was the best waiter I’ve ever had in my life.

carvery was very tasty today, the seasoning makes quite the difference. we took our dog with us and he enjoyed his very own meal! a doggy mix grill! we come most sundays and today was delicious as always, the staff can’t do enough for us and the service is always very quick, the new order at bar makes ordering especially efficient and speedy! our favourite local place for scran!

Was seated by Mandy to our table service was very good food was amazing. We are regulars customers that get together as a family. We can’t fault the Charlie purley and the staff

Staff are extremely helpful. We frequently visit and more recently there has been lots of new faces amongst the staff. All of which are just as friendly as the last. Food is always of a high standard. Will be back.

Food was nice. Only complaint was that it took around an hour for our food to arrive and out starter and mains came at the same time which wasn’t great but not the end of the world. Overall it was okay.

We always enjoy our visits to the Charlie Purley. The food is always served to our likings and served with a smile from the friendly team. If we do ever have an issue, the team are quick to resolve. Couldn’t knock them. Will always recommend as a family friendly pub/restaurant

The service started off ok, then the waitress at 2.40 came over and said we need your table as booked at 3pm, my daughter had ordered deserts so they were hurried along, The waitress came over another 2 times to tell us the same thing, we were getting ready to leave, and said we don’t need to be told again, she then said drop your attitude or you won’t ever be coming here again, which I thought was very unnecessary, we won’t be returning again because she did’nt need to be like that, we left our table at 2.55pm. The food was not very hot and the plates were freezing cold.

Lovely service from start to finish. Lilly was very friendly and accommodating to my daughter’s Peanut allergy. Food was very good with good size portion.

Lovely pub restaurant, staff very helpfull and chef was great Carvery is all fresh and cooked well which is highly unusual in most carverys. Seasoning a little lacking but that seems to be the norm these days. Great indoors for kids.

Mid-week lunch visit. Pub was busy in restaurant area but very quite elsewhere. Service and staff were faultless. Food was well presented and well cooked but not as hot as might be expected of freshly cooked ingredients. Overall, good value for money

Having been here before on a few occasions and had good experiences we decided to go as a family. We booked for 6.30 as we had a 7 year old and didn’t want to be late. Meal took almost 3 hrs in total a good deal of that was waiting. When we got our food it was nice except a vegetarian pie that was stone cold. Sent it back only to then get a Chicken and mushroom pie!! For a veggie. Really not on. Obviously returned, when she eventually got her meal we were all finished so she ate alone. A lovely server Andy refunded her meal which was good and gave her a free dessert. Cheers Andy good customer service. Dogs are now allowed in restaurant. I love dogs have one of my own but not when one was constantly barking throughout our stay. Please rethink this, maybe allow outside or ask them to leave if they can’t control the dog. All in all not a great night out sad to say. Will we go back again ? Not sure on that one.

Unfortunately the carvery was not as good as last week. The best part was a better choice of vegetables. Unfortunately the Yorkshire pudding was cold as was the gravy.

Decent carvery, could have been more napkins available and our table was a bit wobbly but otherwise was all ok. Toilets are decent as well. Newish building, so was just a bit soulless in atmosphere Tables outside if it's nice weather

I brought the charity bus with all my clients on board and they all had a really good time that Charlie pearly

I came here for a carvery on a Sunday lunchtime. The service was lovely and Louis was very helpful. The food was very nice and I would definitely come back.

Lost table service, which really not great for elderly to have to walk to bar to order. Bring back waiter service at tables please.

Waited at table to be served for 15 mins no one came to take order so asked and was told had to order at bar now (would have been nice to be told had to order at bar) food was good so went back to bar and ordered dessert, waited 20 mins for dessert but it never arrived, went back to bar and was told it had been booked to wrong table, service was a shambles won't be going back there again!!!!!

We had a delicious meal from the carvery at the Charlie Purley. Many carveries allow their food to just sit there and lose all their freshness but our food today was perfectly cooked with a wide variety of vegetables and great roast potatoes. The service was excellent and the chef was friendly as, indeed, were all the staff who spoke to us. We would say unbeatable value for money and all set in really comfortable surroundings. Cannot recommend the Charlie Purley highly enough.

Great atmosphere really help full bartender’s and good food

Our visit was early evening but the restaurant was quite busy. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was well prepared and presented.

The meal today at Charlie Purley was excellent, as former hospitality when is busy sometimes the food come out just fine , even busy but todat my meal was excellent and perfect.

Really nice place to eat. Good selection of food. Carvery is delicious and some of their puddings are amazing. Very nice polite staff too. Unfortunately since I wrote this review it's gone downhill.

VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL SERVICE. PARTICUALY LOVED THE IDEA OF ASKING PEOPLE WHO ORDERED THE CARVERY, TO WAIT UNTIL OTHER PEOPLES MEALS WERE READY, SO THAT EVERYONE COULD EAT TOGETHER. NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE, BRILLIANT IDEA.

Love coming here, all the team are super efficient and friendly always. A shout out to Lily, newly arrived - was in Eastbourne, made a great effort to say hi, how are we doing and to ensure we have a great experience. Cudos to the team as well, this is what we keep coming here for.

Me and my friend came across this place while looking for somewhere to eat on the way home. For a spontaneous decision it couldn’t have been better. Drink selection was great. Menu was very diverse with lots of options. Food came out quick too. Lily was very welcoming and made sure to explain everything clearly. 10/10 would go again

Visited today with friends for the Sunday carvery. Food was excellent & so was the service. Very friendly & they even have a dog menu plus water bowls & dog treats. Jesse our collie really enjoyed her lunch of chicken breast. Only trouble is, she will expect that where ever we go now.

Louie at the bar taking the orders was very good even though he was very busy. The dog menu was a lovely idea - Jesse enjoyed her chicken!

The bar staff really lovely just a little stingy with the meat you are allowed 3 slices of meat. Had to to say it was a slither of meat ... also think Toby Carvery is soo much better value for your Sunday lunch ..

Service was slow, stood at the door for several minutes with staff not checking (also had others behind us queuing). Service was ok, but despite a fairly quiet restaurant, slow. But the food was good. Staff were polite. And price was a key reason for being able to afford to go out.

Came here with my partner for dinner and had a fantastic time, byan is a great addition to the team, can’t wait to return

Charlie Purley is our local and we keep going back because the meals are fantastic, so tasty, generous size and great price! Fantastic carvery, so much choice and cooked to perfection. Had a fantastic Mixed Grill tonight which was cooked to perfection! The staff are always so friendly and happy to cater to our needs, even when we go off menu now and then! A very special thanks to all the staff for always being so friendly and helpful to us. See you again soon!

I love coming here. Staff are really nice, helpful and a delight to be around. Food is great! Carvery is my personal favourite but lasagne is also really good. Interior is really nice as well, funky corner images, nicely layout seating plan. 100% recomend coming here

Me and my family came here for my brothers birthday meal and despite us not booking Mandy managed to find us a table and seat us. Grace served us and she was excellent very well mannered and quick. A lovely young man called Louie was behind the bar serving us drinks and he made them to perfection! All in all 10/10 75th birthday meal for my little brother. 1000% recommend this place.

After waiting over an hour for the carvery, I decided to get my money back and find a place that served their customers. On leaving, I also noted the quality of the food, and it seemed I made the right option as it looked disgusting and dried out. I will never ever visit this place again. .. EDIT...We could not just go up and get carvery, as we was told on arrival to take a seat and we would be informed when the carvery was ready for us. You was busy at the time. You issued me with a full refund after I had explained we had waited over an hour and unhappy with the service.

Great service and all the staff really helpful and friendly. The food was delicious as always and very reasonably priced. My only criticism is the table was very sticky not staff fault as apparently due to the cleaning fluid used so may need a rethink of this. Brilliant evening thank you 🤩

The food was absolutely delicious, food portions were massive they had a separate gluten free menu. The staff were lovely and the kids were entertained with the small play area provided, would 100% go back to eat here food prices were reasonable .

Three of us had popcorn chicken starters, all very overcooked. A young lad dropped a glass which seemed to explode ( not his fault) but glass showered our table. No appology at all

Perfect food, perfect service, we will be back

A fairly large pleasant pub with nice decor. A long bar area with a carvery at the end. When we visited at lunchtime during the week there were only a few customers, bar was unmanned for periods, staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Would certainly return.

Hassle free. Turned up, got our drinks, then plates. Ate in peace.
