Eastern Taste in Woking

Food okay, service okay, everything okay, but putting 10% on a bill that was already quite high for a curry and a beer, without even asking is an assumption that they shouldn't make.

Do not order or eat here. Ordered a takeaway for collection approx £58. The order was incorrect and we were given food we were unable to eat. We called them to inform them immediately, we were asked to wait then go back and collect our order. We had guests over and said it wasn't possible to xome back so they agreed to sending a driver. Over 1 hour later and several calls the food was not delivered. 2 hours after the event we were told they forgot to send the driver and it appears we were just being led on. The driver was supposed to collect the incorrect order we had. By this time we had an entire change of plan and ordered pizzas aa they were more reliable and my guests needed to eat. The manager at the time (this changes frequently) promised he would replace 50% of the order and we could keep the incorrect much smaller order which we didn't eat as it was cold and dry. We insisted he collects it. We waited till after 11pm but they didn't turn up so we binned it. He said they have an automated system which identifies me by name and number and the goodwill is registered on there for whenever I am ready I can call in. He said there would be no problem and they will see it on the system. In the last few months my mother was in hospital followed vy palliative care and recently passed away. I was with her everyday. After things have settled I decided we should give them another chance and to place an order. To my horror but no surprise I was told they know nothing about it and the manager left. I was spoken over rudely and told I was calling to get a freebie. I have never done this neither is it in my nature. I was asked why I didn't order sooner so I was forced go explain my personal sad situation which was ignored. The manager then left me on the line to talk to his"manager" in a language I understand. It wasn't very polite. I was a regular customer for a number of years which they later discovered despite telling me initially he doesn't know me. The end solution was for me to place an order and they would consider a small discount. I think this is an awful way to treat customers you greet using their name when they call. This place has gone to the dogs I personally wouldn't order from them again, they have no honour or empathy. If they can't look after existing customers. I am out of pocket and insulted and explained this to which he hung up. I regret not driving back their to deliver the incorrect order back and getting a refund. I trust what people tell me. I told them to keep their discount, I won't be returning. Anyone who orders or eats here approach with caution, service and food has gone downhill. High staff retention. I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

A little gem is in Knaphill that does an amazing curry, very tender lamb loaded with flavour, great sides and cold beer. The staff and service were great too. What now could you want.

We live nearby and eat here around once a month. The food is always very good and the staff are friendly and attentive. The specials and variety on the menu sets it apart from other Indian restaurants in the area and the prices are very fair for the quality of the food. The meats are always well-cooked and tender.

A group of 13 friends visited the restaurant on a Thursday evening, I really enjoyed the mango pickle tray with the poppadoms. The service was a bit disorganised when the food arrived at the table but The main dishes were very good, with good size portions and you could taste difference between dishes. My only concern was the smell coming from the toilets. Which was dealt with by the staff.

For the first meeting of the year, thirteen members of the curry club made our first visit to this recommended restaurant. Now there’s an expectation that if you’ve booked around two weeks in advance, and that your group are the only people in the venue, that the service would be good. Here comes the issue; we started by ordering 2 poppadoms each, but it transpired that we were served somewhat less than that, with a minimum of pickles which we had to ask to be replenished more than once. Not a massive problem, and we moved on from that with a beer… The waiter took the order for the mains, splitting us into two tables, which we were assured would make the service easier. Fairly soon afterwards, a trolley appeared groaning with dishes, and the smell made us all sit up in anticipation. The service was slowed by both waiters spending time trying to decide which dish was which, eventually serving us with our intervention; pointing out what we had ordered on the trolley, although despite this one of our members was served with the wrong dish, which was bizarrely taken away from him after he had dished half of it on to his plate?! To be completely balanced in this review, the food was exceptional, with decent portions and a definite taste difference between dishes. The naan bread in particular, could be the softest bread we’ve ever had! In summary, this is a pleasant restaurant with some interesting dishes on the menu. The food is fabulous, but we felt a bit let down by the service on the occasion we visited. This isn’t something to be put off by, and in a smaller group or as a couple, it’s likely to be no issue at all.

We go to Eastern Taste regularly. Everyone is always so friendly and the food is excellent. If you want to enjoy something at home, they offer takeaway too. I would highly recommend trying them if you're in the area. They never disappoint!

The mains were fine, tasty and good portions but not any better than many Indian restaurants we have been to. We decided to have a dessert. Husband and I ordered Kulfi which the waiter then came over to say they didn’t have, so we both went for “chocolate sponge and chocolate sauce” described as a fluffy sponge with a rich velvety chocolate sauce.. sounded good! When it arrived it was a rock hard chocolate lump, certainly not sponge, with a scoop of ice cream on top. I asked where the chocolate sauce was and was met with a blank face. I asked to see the menu again as I was beginning to doubt myself! I showed the waiter what the menu said, he then said that there was no sauce and this was the dessert. I decided not to have it and my husband tried it. He would’ve needed a sledge hammer to break it. So both were sent back. These were removed from the bill but when I checked it, we had been charged for a beer we hadn’t had!! All in all, we wouldn’t come here again!!

Got the takeaway and although lively food, portions are small. Only half in takeaway tub, not filled up at all. Not good for the price they charge. Probably wouldn't order again.

Exceptional food, one of the best, if not the best, main course Indian meals we’ve had. The service and staff were equally as good. Thoroughly recommend! It’s always been good but seems to have stepped up a level or two.

Back in Woking visiting my friends after moving to the coast and went to Eastern Taste (my old local) WOW, what an improvement! The restaurant has been refurbished and the food was absolutely delicious, served on lovely hot new crockery. All 4 of us had something different and not a complaint/grumble about any of it.

I have read the reviews & can only assume that we were extremely unlucky! We ordered a takeaway to collect & it was ready in time, but the disappointment came when we came to eat the food & both mine and my husbands had absolutely NO flavour whatsoever! If I didn’t no better I would say that they had forgotten go put the spices in !!

A delightful meal out at Eastern Taste. I frequently order take away and it impresses every time. A member of my party (a curry enthusiast) ordered the Calcutta Naga, and he was thoroughly impressed. I recommend this restaurant to all of my friends, the food is exceptional.

They went above and beyond for us. I have allergies and struggle to eat out anywhere. The manager and staff did all they could to ensure I could enjoy the food I wanted. It was delicious.

This is beyond doubt the best curry restaurant in Woking, probably further I've eaten in most of them in the area and nothing comes close. Food is freshly cooked, and the king prawns are actually huge, unlike 99% of the other curry restaurants. Service is spot on, attentive, friendly and the owner even cooked a curry to my taste, and it is still the best curry I've had in years. Can't really say anything else, other than this is where I get curry's from and have done for years now, everywhere else is disappointing in comparison.

Went to Eastern Taste tonight for a birthday celebration. I can't fault the quality of the food or the level of service provided. We had a fantastic meal and everyone said it was probably the best Indian food they had ever had!!! Will definitely be going back soon.

Back in November, we lost my dear brother. We as a family are heartbroken and we have not been out anywhere. As it was my sisters birthday today and she lives on her own, we decided to make an effort and booked this restaurant. We waited ages to get drinks and then ages to get poppadums. When they finally came to take the food order, we ordered starters and mains. One of the starters was from the mains menu but we asked for it as a starter (mixed grill x2). The other starters came out after a long delay but the mixed grill x 2 did not come out. The waiter said he thought it was a main. However he still did not go back and go and get it so after a while we asked him to bring it out with the mains. After a long delay, I said to him that I had been there for 1 hour 35 minutes and not eaten anything. the food came out eventually. it was but the butter chicken was just sauce with 5 pieces of chicken and the paneer tikka was sauce with a few pieces of paneer. Even though he was apologetic he still charged us in full and put 10% service charge on the bill. Very disappointing overall on what was a first night out for the family.

Try the Gunpowder Curry if you like it moderately hot. We’ve eaten here for over a year now and it’s always excellent. The best curry in Woking by far!

We order from here all the time! Had a delivery tonight and it was Luke warm and the salad wilted and brown! We called them to let them know and they tried to justify why! The guy didn’t listen to long life customers and said he would sort it next time round! That’s not going to help right now! Well, they have just lost us as customers! Loads more restaurants to order from!

Truly delicious and they don’t hold back on the portion sizes! I wish I lived here so I could order every week. I ordered the Lamb Balti (for collection) as part of the Meal for One deal. The food was ready exactly when they said it would be and the service was very friendly.

The restaurant is clean and well presented and the food selection is varied with a good selection of authentic dishes. Used this place for over 2 years regularly, Tonight nearly 1.5 hours late as rest say constant excuses and food on way. Unfortunately no loyalty card in bag and like others I would sooner they were honest. I will now look for alternative Indian delivery . Very disappointed especially as not first time it’s happened

Immediate caveat it was New Years Eve. Ordered at 7.15, food arrived at 10.20. Three calls in the middle and on each occasion we were told “it’s on its way” Would far rather the honesty of “we missed it but we are cooking it now” is the truth. When it arrived some was hot, some was warm, everything tasted nice if you take the heat element off. However we were missing two breads, one rice and one side from the order, after three hours. Probably very good on a non-busy day.

The worst service ever. Ordered at 7.20pm and told one hour for delivery. I phoned after 1 hour 30 minutes and was told 15 minutes. Still no food. Phone to speak to the manager,and was told to call back in 10 minutes as he was in the kitchen. Stayed on the phone for 15 minutes and could hear the customers in the restaurant complaining as waiting for start for over an hour. Then they put the phone down on me. Tried to call back 18 times, they kept putting the phone down or went to answer phone. The food turns up at 10.10pm and surprise surprise it was cold and a dish missing. The worst service I have ever had. DO NOT USE THIS RESTAURANT. I will be going to see the manager face to face tomorrow, let see what he has to say.

The food is good here, which is why I keep going back BUT they mess up the order so many times! Tonight I ordered online (on their website) chicken tikka masala, they deliver chicken tikka (no sauce), when I call up they are happy to deliver a replacement but it's 30 mins wait, I say I can go collect it now, but that will take 20 mins, so I ask what about the rest of my order (sides and naan) as that will be cold, I'll happily send it back. Evening results in my husband eating his food alone and then me having to run out and pick up my order 20 mins later and eat it alone! Not exactly the evening I had planned!! They always promise me a big discount next time but I've never had it!!

Disappointed!!!! Ordered meal with chutney tray and popadoms. Received chutney tray and NO popadoms. No apologies, and no refund. Will go back to our other restaurant who can commit to order. If you have a starter chutney tray, one would expect they would check. As it was was the rest of the food was luke warm needed reheating. What a waste!!!

Had a good meal here. Good service and good quantity food. One minor observation was no lime pickle provided with chutneys etc for poppadoms. They were happy to provide on request. There was the most vibrant green mint sauce I have ever seen though! I would definitely return here again. 😀

Ordered takeaway from here via UberEats, l for the first time and make a mistake on delivery time. Staff quickly accommodated and delivered the food earlier. Food was great, we tried the onion bhajees, mixed tandoori grill, chicken Madras and prawn korma. Would highly recommend all dishes. The bhajees come in two but are huge and were super crispy. We really enjoyed the flavours of the two curries and look forward to trying other dishes Update - Ordered takeaway second week in a row and the food was just as good the first time. Very consistent standard.

We buy curry from these guys every now and then and always been ok, but the last take away was the LAST take away. It was absolutely tasteless! The Vindaloo tasted like nothing, no flavour or spiciness. The smell off old oil on the pompadoms...

I went in to collect takeaway, the restaurant was clean, the people I met were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered Lamb Rogan Josh with Pilau Rice which was delicious. I look forward to eating their food again.

I ordered a few times from this restaurant, loved the lamb biryani, but today wasn’t the greatest for the price, something has changed in the terms of the ingredients. And for the order I ordered from Just Eat where there was a problem so I used Deliveroo, Even though initially payment was only taken from Deliveroo. Just Eat later took the same amount out as well. Anyway, please use the money to improve the recipes, because you might need it.

Have given Eastern Taste the benefit of the doubt a couple of times but will NEVER use them again! Too many times they tell you one delivery time and it takes twice the amount of time!!! They do everything to avoid giving you a refund on the items they omit from your order. Life is too short and this is not a priority in the current times but do me a favour and the refund you owe me on my order, which I reckon is circa £15, please donate to the NHS.

We have orders form this place numerous times with no problems! But this evening the food was appalling not taste at all and to finish it off we found a hair in the dhansak! I’m sorry but will not be ordering from you again!! People beware regarding the quality and hygiene of the food!!

We’ve been avoiding Indian takeaway for a while since our favourite place changed ownership, however this was magnificent. Ordered a takeaway for collection, offered a bit of a savings. Meal for 5, decent portions good price and more importantly, very tasty. We’ve ordered from here a few times. On one occasion they totally forgot our order, the next time they only delivered half the order and on this occasion the king prawn madras was very poor. It was very watery and tomato flavour with very few prawns, none of which were king prawns.Really disappointing...started off well getting worse every time...will go elsewhere in future

First time here with family. Walked in without a booking on a Saturday night and easily got a table for 4. Fast friendly service to start with, but when it got busy things slowed down a little. Great food, very tasty. Loved my Chicken Shashlik and Bhindi bhaji
