This was the worst chinese ive ever had the bang bang chicken was tasteless and the chicken chow mein had peas and carrots in and tasted like gravy rather than a chow mein would never use again

Undercooked cold in the middle staff was clueless and rude when I returned the food won’t be going again zero stars don’t recommend 👎🏻

Brilliant take away food is always fresh hot & delicious super quick delivery by nice delivery drivers also the points system soon adds up for money off bargain would recommend

Parking around the back is helpful. Food was hot and fresh. Got out takeout food quite quickly. Needs a massive update so would not dine in.

Curry was so salty and like soup that after 20 minutes of eating it I was sick my sons chillie chips were soggy , will not go again

Worst Chinese I've had in a long while! It cost £53 and didn't even get any crackers for free! I had chicken and mushrooms which should've been called carrots & onions! Hardly any mushrooms or chicken! Spare ribs had no meat on them and were very tough and now let's talk about the 3 bags of chips. Worst chips I've ever had and that's saying something. Hard and tasted recorded. I will not be going there again. Absolutely awful. You've been warned!!!

Car crash of a chinese meal. :-( Absolutely dreadful food. The fried rice containers were not full, the 'crispy duck' was dried up and not crispy, the beef curry looked like dog food. The balance of flavour was completely wrong with dishes so full of chilli seeds and roughly chopped garlic, it rendered them vertually inedible. Poor value for money and very poor food.

Please avoid. Ordered sweet and sour, chilli beef and curry sauce. Everything tasted exactly the same, all the same colour. Same sauce across all the dishes. The chilli beef was hollow, just nasty greasy batter. So so disappointing and an absolute rip off.

Usually buy my Chinese when driving through Crowlas. This time I ordered from home. The food was fine, but noticeably overpriced. Ordered by phone as did not trust on online order page to work. It was however easy to add items to basket. Was told on phone that 40 minutes which I thought was long for a small order. When I arrived not only was the price 10% higher but I had to wait an extra 15+ minutes over the 40 min quoted. What seemed clear was this business is largely focused on deliveries, that’s why so many of us were waiting excessive time. Maybe telephone orders get priority or staff do not know timescales to tell customers who ring or walk in. Timescales showing for online orders seem a lot longer, maybe they are more accurate? Over an hour for a telephone order and nearly half as long again to the time given has put me off ever using again. And that 10% extra if you order on phone and come into collect? Nothing I saw on website or menu. Prices are clear online but seems they don’t apply if you phone or walk in! When you have ordered, turned up after possible very long wait time, you are greeted with a piece of paper stick by till - 10% extra if not ordered online. Bit late then . . . So order online seems to be route, food is fine and wait is easier if it’s being delivered. But I felt conned and extra long wait made it an easy decision not to return. I’ll leave space for all those online ordered and deliveries. Clearly most now use that route as many more packages exiting when I waited than serving those in waiting area. Business should alter website to make clear its prices only apply if ordered online and those who phone in should be told when ordering that 10% surcharge to prices online . . .

We are a family down on holiday. Not often I post but the worst Chinese I have ever had. Poor quality, the oil needed changing and all dishes were awful gloopy messes that tasted the same. Avoid this place!

We called into Eastern Empire for a takeaway on our way home from Somerset on 13th. October instead of driving to our usual takeaway in Penzance. What a bad choice that was ! I ordered beef curry my wife ordered prawns with spring onions and ginger and we had a portion of chips between us. My curry tasted of anything but curry and consisted of very poor quality meat in a greasy gravy with not a trace of curry taste. My wife's prawns were in a similar greasy gravy with no trace of ginger. Our chips could have been warmed up from earlier or possibly the previous day, they were not edible ! I rang the restaurant, twice, to complain and, eventually, was offered a 30% reduction on a replacement order, an insult to my intelligence ! The meals weren't 30% bad but, truthfully, being kind, I would have a struggle to rate them 30% good ! Needless to say, I will not be taking the Manager's offer of a 30% discount and I would advise complete avoidance bearing in mind that this establishment is at least 20% more expensive than other takeaways in the area !

Expensive, over cooked , dry and tasteless. Shocking

Dinner for four ordered, the duck was overcooked dry and tasteless, no sauce for the pancakes! The chow mein dry with chunks of chicken and no flavour, the beef satay was floating on powdery liquid and full of hot chilli. The sweet and sour cantanese chicken was cold and the chicken thick and chunky, no pineapple only uncooked white onion. £67 cost and most of it in the bin, no wonder the restaurant itself is closed. Saw us comming.

Ordered a szechun chicken, lacked a kick and a bit bland to be honest. Fries were alrite, sweet and sour chicken was nice, bit the chicken wings seemed to be well overcooked. But pricing not bad. And food was ready onetime ordered via app

Think I got over charged when I added it up to the online menu, food was very bland hardly any ginger in the dish I ordered and waited nearly an hour for it, won’t be getting one again sorry needs to improve Used to be a very good restaurant as well now it only does take away disappointing

Food was really nice. Unfortunately, it was let down by the lack of prawn 'paste' on the sesame prawn on toast and the small portions of egg fried rice.

Was edible but some dishes didn't look appetising at all, especially the crispy shredded beef. Also prices were high and portions were small compared to what we're used to in the eastmidlands. Spent over £30 so was a bit shocked we didn't get prawn crackers for free and had to pay €2.50

Not only was it shocking the beef curry taste like gravy and looks like gravy! I would rather go to a 1 star restaurant than eat at this disgusting Chinese restraunt. If you want to taste something disgusting go to this disgusting food diner. The chicken chow mein was so dry and poor. £50 down the drain I would rather eat my dogs sick, not even joking it looks the exact same. If you want to be disappointed go to this disgusting and horrible restraunt. Oh by the way my dog eats anything but he wouldn’t even eat it, and he eats horse poo. And not your chin ease what does that tell you!

Main dishes DO NOT come with any rice/noddles, you will need to pay them separately, very annoying. Ordered few different dishes, they’re looked all the same with only way to tell the difference is to taste them. Tasteless, nothing matches what we were expecting. No chopsticks or napkins provided. Would not recommend.

Stunned! Shockingly good...got a takeaway from here, whilst holidaying. Beef and chicken chop suey, and a Kung Bo chicken, with chicken&beef fried rice. Wipes the floor with anything at home in Saint Alban's. Booking back here for a week, to grab some more. 10/10. Dean s

Half the order I received isn't even what I ordered. Food was dry and had barely any meat in any dishes. Staff on phone was rude. Definitely would not recommend. Please avoid this place and save your money... literally anywhere other than this place would be better.. back along it used to be good so I'm assuming new owners. Genuinely surprised this place hadn't shut down because of how bad the food was .

The Eastern Empire used to be our favourite Chinese Restaurant, but it has changed hands, and we don't think the food is as good as it used to be, sadly. The food lacks real flavour, as if it has been " thrown together ", rather than individually cooked.

Rice was abit dry but the rest of the meal was lovely

All food was cold & very over priced , was expecting top quality for the price they charge instead it was dried up food obviously from day before , prawn toast & chips were inedible, beef was dry chewy & like everything else was cold , the bit we did eat gave us severe stomach problems , would score zero if there was an option

We tried this restaurant for a Chinese takeaway—a colossal mistake. We were looking forward to a nice meal but were shocked at how dreadful it actually was. None of our guests could stomach more than a couple of mouthfuls from each dish before chucking it in the bin. It looked, tasted and smelt like leftover slop from the previous day. The worse takeaway I have ever experienced. We felt like we were conned out of our hard earnt money.

Absolutely Useless.... The quality of the food has been falling for the last 12 months or more. Over Priced and now very poor service on top. Had to get a refund out of them. Delivery order took them over an hour and three quarters to deliver. When it finally got here after having to phone them, the food was cold and there were two full meals and the prawn crackers missing entirely from the bag. Incompetent at the very least. HOPELESS!! Will not be using them again unless we hear about some significant improvements.

Do not reccomend*** Ordered over the phone to collect, spoke to an English girl. Special house chow mein Egg fried rice Prawn crackers Got home to find that the special house chow mein was full of chilli and I detest spicy food!!! So that went in the bin. Shrimp had shell on. Egg fried rice was dry with no egg in it!! Thank God for the prawn crackers as they were the only good thing about the meal. Needless to say that I won't be ordering from here again and i do not recommend!!

On holiday here and couldn’t get in anywhere for dinner in Hayle on Sunday night so got a Chinese takeaway. Was very busy so maybe cut corners on the quality? The chow mein was burnt, chips were like they were cooked a year ago, chicken balls were fine, sweet and sour sauce watery.

Shickingy,£50 down the drain, burnt chip's and prawn crackers, couldn't even make out what the bang bang chicken was 🤢asked for another BB chicken,tried to charge me £2 needless to say the door was slammed in his face,and that BB chicken was the same,avoid absolutely rank 👎

3 stars due to delivery issues! I think we just got unlucky though. Ordered to Haven site (would only deliver to reception). Ordered via their website for 5pm delivery. I phoned at 5.15 to ask where it was, they said they only start cooking at 5pm! But they said it would be out for delivery in a minute. I phoned again at 5.50pm and they said the driver was stuck in traffic!! To be fair, Google maps was showing very heavy traffic through Hayle, but it's only a 1.5 mile trip! It arrived 5 mins later. Needless to say it wasn't exactly hot food! The chips looked like they'd been reheated from the day before!! But, other than that, the food was actually good. Would give them the benefit of the doubt and try again, if I ever come back to Hayle!

Avoid at all costs!! Bought a Chinese from here this evening costing £27.... soon after was contacted by our bank to advise that another £41.10 had been spent in Eastern Empire and a chip shop down the road had tried to take £470, which had been declined by the bank as fraudulent activity. Returned to Eastern Empire to query this and was told that someone had been in and stolen the card receipts with all of the card information on them (CARD RECIEPTS DONT HAVE CARD DETAILS ON FOR THIS REASON), when we asked how then they have spent another £41.10 in the shop I was told that the person who had stolen the reciepts had purchased a Chinese using our card details.. with no card... so they would have had to manually input all of our stolen card details in the Chinese to purchase their food 🤔🤔 no offer to refund the stolen money... contacted the police... just be careful

Best freshly battered sweet and sour king prawns and Singapore chow mein ever.

Very average menu, many dishes were bland, whilst others were over powering and not nice tasting food. Would not order again. Only item that was tasty was the spring roll!

Stayed at the haven Park in hayle and ordered a delivery from here. They delivered to the caravan not just the reception, arrived within 30 minutes on a Friday evening, price was very reasonable and the food was quite simply delicious! Definitely recommend anyone staying in the area to try it! If we visit again we will absolutely re order from Eastern empire!

Lovely Take-Away - Food is delicious! Ordered a take-away for four people. Plenty of food, although not a lot wasted, it was delicious!

Stopped going here for takeaway for quite a while as we had a couple of meals that we didn't enjoy. Had a large order for ourselves and friends earlier in the week and all of us really enjoyed our food. Back on track Eastern Empire! Thanks for the feast.

Was looking forward to Chinese takeaway, but ended up being extremely disappointed. Szechuan chicken was swimming in sweet, oily liquid- not at all the spicy dish as was described on the menu. Hot and sour soup was strangely sweet and very artificial tasting. Pancakes for duck were missing, but at this point, too annoyed to go back.

Ordered a lovely takeaway tonight, it was really tasty and staff were friendly. Will defiantly be ordering from here again.

Eastern Empire is the best Chinese takeaway I ever been to! The food is so delicious my favourite is chicken balls!

Food moderate , nothing to rent and rave about , awfull front house staff , when questioned about a bag of prawn crackers been opened and asking for an exchange , front house staff didnt give any aknologidementto to our demands ,just taken and threw back on work top with no eye contact or communication given ,front house staff thinks it's a laugh at chefs expense.

We had a superb takeaway from here last night, the individual flavours of the Szechwan chicken were wonderful and my wife's vegetarian Chow Mein was really tasty. all ready to pick up in 15 minutes.

Lovely meal chicken dish was lovely and soft and tasted fantastic. Cooked really well and service was quick too.

Another treat on our short break. Loved the food here. Lots of it. Was still hot when we got back to the campsite. Special curry was spot on!

Prawn toast and curry sauce were cold, curry sauce had a very odd flavour to it and was very thick even after I re heated it sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style was bland and looked as though the vegetables had been placed into the container first then the chicken then had a lumpy sweet and sour sauce thrown over the top. Overall wasn’t very pleasant.

Visiting mum and she said she wanted Chinese. I'm not that bothered tbh but glad I did. Even though its take away only, the portion sizes were huge. I'm well and truly stuffed. The food tastes amazing aswell.Thank you everyone who made me dinner this evening. I'll be back soon.

We had been using this restaurant for approximately 15 years, when it suddenly nosedived in quality, we were friends with the staff, they knew us by sight and name and a meal they served us on New Years Eve about 2 years ago was appalling, so we stopped using it.Fast forward to today, after all this lock down, we were so happy for restaurants to be doing take aways that we decided to give them another try, as they were under new management. Big mistake, I asked for my curry to be made hot, it was totally tasteless, my wife's beef curry was congealed and lumpy, my daughter took one mouthful of her food and threw it away. Absolutely shocking, never again.

Been recently with the new owners firstly greeted by lovely staff, very impressed with the look of the place but best of all the truly tasty hot freshly cooked food! went home very satisfied 😁

This was my third takeaway since change of ownership. The young lady taking phone orders and looking after service is hard working, helpful and very pleasant. I prefer the ribs without pineapple, I am no gourmet! My wife enjoys the chicken, green pepper and black bean sauce and the chicken and mushrooms but would prefer a little more of the tasty sauce. I love the chilli chicken, great flavour. Mixed veggies in Szechuan sauce also good. I thought the ingredients seemed fresh. The crispy pancake rolls are big and appear to be made on the premises but not sure. I have always enjoyed my dinners from the Eastern Empire and will continue to use it.

Ordered vegetable chow mein, chips, egg fried rice, vegetable spring rolls and pork curry. LOVELY FOOD, DELICIOUS! Me and my partner loved it, lovely portion size too! Our waitress was lovely and the owner (I assume) seemed lovely and talkative. Would definitely recommend! Visited on 12th feb 2020 about 8PM 😁 thank you again!

Waited 30 - 45 minutes for meal. The small pancake rolls were hollow and the sweet and sour king prawn were like rubber. Use to be a good place to eat.

Was very quiet when we went with not many diners. Service was good and attentive. Food came in a reasonable time after ordering and was tasty and good sized portions. Having read some of the negative reviews I felt they were unjustified, nothing to complain about for us, would go again.

Me my husband and 3 kids all went into the restaurant for dinner one evening and we all loved the food, it was amazing. The staff couldn't do enough for us. Plate warmers on the table with you. Good portion sizes and well priced. Highly recommended and we shall be using these from now on for take away also.

We had a takeaway from here for the first time last night and where do I start. I rang through pretty much as soon as they opened at 5.10 and was told food would be 20 to 25 minutes which was fine. I got there at just gone half 5 to be told it would be another 10 minutes then 10 minutes later overheard the guys on the desk say where's the order for Simon? To which the kitchen staff said "I don't know"... they had basically lost the order. The lads on the desk said "this happened last week and we got the fault for it" There were people who had ordered after me coming and going and finally 6.05 the meal finally came out, no apology for the delay or losing the order no offer of discount no nothing. When I got back with the food they'd given my wife the wrong meal and her bang bang chicken had a long black hair in it. The chicken in it was also defrosted chicken pieces from Iceland! The restaurant side was completely empty as well. I can't fault the lads on the front desk as they were continually chasing my order for me.I won't be visiting or using this restaurant in a hurry, if at all, that's for sure.

Got a take away and as soon as opened the bag of chips it had a hair in it. The chicken fried rice also had a big black hair in it. Disgusting!!

New owners since Sept 2019. Ok Chinese food, not huge portions and a bit expensive for the area. I would eat here again but not my first choice. Give it a try for yourselves, everyone’s taste is different.

Take away... 35 minute wait. Good quality food. Nice people, but the service was very slow. Live 5 minutes away, when we got home the meal was not hot.

Come for a meal with my partner & 10 month old, staff very accommodating when asking for high chair. Very friendly, attentive and good knowledge of menu. Fantastic meal and great value for money. Crispy chilli beef is a winner.

Myself and my partner ate here last night. The food was amazing and great value for money. Made to feel really welcome, really nice atmosphere. Staff are very friendly. Would definitely recommend!
