East in the West in Torbay

A nice setting and well varied menu. Service wasn't the best however. Had to ask a couple of times for drinks and at one stage all the staff were standing behind the bar all texting on their mobiles whilst we were sat trying to get their attention to order. Had the black pepper lamb main course. Wasn't nice at all. Of course due to the description of the dish I expected it to have a prominent black pepper flavour, which I like, however, it tasted like a bucket of black pepper had been dropped into the pan.

Food good, service too. But: it is extremely loud in the restaurant, which takes some of the fun out of it

We had a top notch meal here. The staff are happy to accommodate requests. The chutneys for the poppadoms are perhaps the best I’ve had. Sauces were amazing in texture and flavour. Just excellent all round.

Had a lamb balti was very nice my only criticism is needed a few more pieces lamb in it but it was still very nice 👌

You'd be mistaken to think of this place as a curry house. This restaurant is on another level altogether - superb food. Only wish I could say the same about the seating, which is new (may have changed in the past year... hopeful) and the most uncomfortable chair I've ever sat in! Please do something about this, guys!

We visited early Saturday evening with our daughter. No children's menu or smaller portions for children available. Poppadom's, and naan all really fresh and the spiced date paste was fantastic. Our mains were very average and lacked real flavour. Chicken Tikka Masala more like a korma and very really sweet,( although my daughter thought this was great) chettinad lamb was bland. As we had to order an adult portion for our daughter she couldn't get through it so we asked if we could have this packed to take out. The waitress said yes but you will have to do this yourself. We were then presented with a plastic container and bag! Its a shame as the Paignton branch is superb and this is more local. If you're taking your children bear in mind you will have to order adult portions.

Came here again for another lovely evening meal mid-week. Pappadums, chicken tikka, fish and prawn dish with 2 vegetable (aubergine and sag) dishes and chapatis with beer and wine. For 3 of us came to £85. Great again….with excellent service, ambience and quality / quantity of food. Fully recommend

A very enjoyable tasty meal albeit the use of a small "pail" rather than a dish for the curry was an unwelcome trendy touch. Friendly attentive service in warm, comfortable dining area.

The most amazing Indian cuisine I've had locally. Full-flavoured and beautifully cooked, with high calibre service in a great atmosphere. We came as a table of 24, it was perfect. For the majority of our party, it was a first-time visit, we'll all be coming back!

Went to the new Torquay East in the West. The restaurant is very nice, the food was nice, service & staff just OK but there downfall was when we came yo pay the couldn't get our bills correct we spent a good half hour or more trying to sort it out. They need to update there system. For this reason our group will NOT be returning.

We are a family of Indian food lovers, our takeaway yesterday evening from East in the West was absolutely superb. The best we ever had, the balance and freshness of the spices was delightful. It's so nice to have something different from the standard BIR offering.

A lovely meal, served by attentive and polite staff, spoiled by a selfish table next to us that insisted on complaining about every aspect of their meal and service. Their insistence on moaning about the food and the drinks they were served at the end of their meal (of which they ate everything) was embarrassing and i felt for the staff that had to handle their complaints as reasonably as they could.

If u can put 0 star I will do. The food has same favour, all dishes was cooked in same sos. On top staff was rude and the don't take our complaint seriously saying is every restaurant is different. No apologie. Never again 😒

Just had great meal with hubby. Tandoori chicken beautifully presented with tasty peshawar nan. We also had a sag aloo main with pilau rice- very very tasty. Great service, definitely recommend, thank you.

Brand new spanking place with a delightful low lighting interior that provides a great ambience. Pleasant family run service. Tasty and spicy food. Some of the dishes are not for the faint hearted. Cons: Small portions especially the rice dishes. Prices nearly reflect London restaurants Staff and owners should be more stern to deal with loud boisterous customers. I found this lacking and we felt we wanted to leave as soon as the orders came. There is definitely room for improvement

Have just returned from a week in Paignton whilst there we visited the East in the West restaurant what a great place for a meal. All the staff are really helpful and very friendly. The food was absolutely amazing we were very impressed with the quality, presentation, and amazing flavour. The service was so good very reasonable prices for such quality food. Thankfully we visited early in the week so we went back again later in the week. We go to Paignton about three times a year so we will certainly will be going back. All in all a very nice place to enjoy a quality meal.

This is a review for East in the West Torquay . We had a meal here when they first opened & were a little disappointed . However we tried it again last night & both the food & the service was excellent . Proper cloth serviettes , very clean tables & superb cutlery . A huge improvement in the quality of the food . Nice location on the high street and restaurant has a big capacity to take in lot of people. Service was really good by the people at reception and also by the person who was taking order. Food delivery was quick as well. Taste of the food was good, not superb or excellent but we liked it and is a place to go once. Panner masala was to sweet, daal makhni and naan was too awesome in taste. Chole and Okra was good in taste.

The restaurant has a beautiful interior. The service was very friendly. We ordered three different dishes, all of which were delicious. The whole family loved it.

Clean, smell free, tidy! And the food was out of the park. Cooked like it should be, spices in the right amount, not over loaded with onions and garlic like many Indian restaurants. South Indian flavours coming through and style. Chappti roti like it's meant to be not thick but like they make it in India. Staff are good and this reflects on the restaurant.

It was my first time visiting East in the west I started off with pappdoms with 4 different dips followed by saffron King prawns chargrilled starter then for my mains I had chicken biryani and chilli and garlic nan all of it was very nice the service was excellent I would recommend this place too anyone will definitely be returning next time I'm in Paignton

By far the worst Indian meal i have had out. Not only is it over priced, Part of the food was literally frozen, and I mean frozen!... asked for replacement which also came out stone cold. Naan bread tastes like it's straight from a supermarket and chucked in a microwave. Extremely loud in there and a massive wait on food. Plenty of other places would out do it for sure.

We eat a meal here every year when we come down to Paignton for the hockey festival. And the food is always really superb, tender meats and full of flavour. Delicious! What makes the amazing team at East in the West stand above other restaurants is their ability to manage a large group like ours. The food comes out all at once and they have a very good system set up ensuring everyone gets the correct meal and in super quick time. They are very organised. Just superb! Looking forward to coming back again next year.
