A hidden gem in the picturesque village of Styal. The food a drink is always top quality with a service to match. A community cafe staffed largely by volunteers who excel at taking care of their customers. Always first in my list when in the area.

Today was not a great visit. I ordered the soup and forgot to ask for unbuttered bread. When it arrived I apologized and said that I had forgotten to ask for it to be without butter. The face on the older woman that served it was like thunder, and previously when we have been in, the same woman speaks to the younger volunteers like they are worthless. Not customer friendly and it is not like the buttered bread could not have been used for another customer. Will not be back!

Been a few times previously and always been satisfied. Visited on Easter Saturday with my wife for a lunchtime snack from Styal Mill. Requested a bacon sandwich to be told that they finished at 1130. Ordered a ham sandwich that came as 2 slices of white loaf with a thin slice of ham with a very small portion of salad on the side. The staff were quite abrasive. The total price was £11.50 and it wasn't worth that. Won't be going again

The reason I have given the rating as just ok is the cost. The drinks are basically from a push button machine. Coffee served in paper cups. My friend wanted oat milk with her coffee. We were given 4 tiny sachets which wasn’t enough the coffee was still black. We asked for more and they wanted to charge 20p per sachet. ! We were told they are expensive to buy. Maybe a suggestion would be to buy a carton of oat milk in it would be cheaper. ( £1.09 for a litre at Lidl).

Have visited 3 times. The first time was served a cold baked potato. The second time the food was pleasant as were the staff. The third and final time was today. As I waited outside with my dog, my mum went to order. She came out visibly upset. The two women serving her had been rude to her (she is an elderly lady, polite and courteous to a fault), she asked me not to go in to speak to them, she just wanted to leave. I called within the hour to speak to a manager whose response was "well they're volunteers, but go on...." I explained that volunteer or staff, to speak so rudely to a customer that they are visibly upset is unacceptable. The explanation was again that they were volunteers, and can be overwhelmed if it's busy. No apology, no seeking of any further details. She also told me that tripadvisor was excellent duet to their polite friendly staff. I see that was untrue, but to be honest had no intention of leaving a review until she'd said that.

Visiting friends and had a lovely breakfast here on our previous visit so we decided to go again. We were late up so got to the cafe just before they finished serving breakfast. The staff deliberately ignored us as they were moving to lunch time menu. The most courteous thing to do was to explain the situation rather than ignore customers with a miserable, you're not getting a breakfast at this time face! appalling. We will not go to this place again, hence, the 1 * for downright rudeness. We got up and left and glad we did as we went elsewhere and had a fantastic breakfast in a very clean, bright and airy place which was being served all day .

My friend and I went for an afternoon walk. So rather than support a big food chain went to a local shop with a cafe in the back. It was towards the end of the afternoon and we were the only clients but enjoyed a relaxed cuppa and a piece of cake each. The cost was good value for money and not too expensive. We also had a look at the goodies for sale in the shop and the gift shop upstairs but didn't buy anything. Staff very helpful. A nice break to our walk. It felt good to support a little local shop in Styal where there is a community spirit and a desire to keep things local.

We decided to call in after not visiting for some time. When we entered there were four staff behind the counter and not one of them acknowledged our presence. To obtain service we had to interrupt what I'm sure was a very important conversation which I hope was how to improve customer service. The next thing we noticed was how much prices had gone up since the last visit This didn't seem justified by the quality of the food which was presented without finesse or the normal accompaniments which are expected these days. The only thing which merited the second star was the friendliness of the ladies in the shop and the gallery. Perhaps they could train the cafe staff. I would advise other visitors to Styal to visit the cafe at the mill or the garden cafe within the mill grounds.

Given that all working at Earlams are voluntary and give their time freely towards supporting this Community Cafe.. it is without doubt 'the place to meet in Styal'. A;; staff are friendly and the food/drinks provided are to exceptional standards given that they are prepared in a restricted space. Those customers attending, especially the locals and loyal customers, generally understand that there could be a delay in being served .. however the attitude of one 'male' (gentleman is not a word to be used here) .. complaining that he had been waiting too long in a rather abusive manner .. and stating that he felt he would have been better at Styal Mill (one trusts he went there and paid their prices !!) ... and hopefully will never return to Earlams.. will not negate the excellent work nor affect the loyal customers from continuing to support the Cafe. To all staff .... keep up the good work and thank you for excellent service provided over many days/months of ones attendance. 10/10. I suggest, if you have never been to Earlams..then you should try it and make up your own minds about the service, friendship and all else...take time to visit the shop and Gallery.

I've previously reviewed Earlams after a pleasant experience but today was a complete contrast. I arrived at 1.45pm looking forward to a bacon barm after a long and rainy dog walk, despite the menu clearly stating they were served until 2pm I was told they'd turned the grill off due to the rain (we were indoors I should point out!). When I explained that I had rushed to get there before 2 especially for the bacon barm the lady told me she hadn't realised it was 2pm she thought it was earlier and another lady told me that she is going to put up a notice saying times will vary dependant on who is serving! Now if the cafe had been really busy I would have understood but it wasn't...it was very quiet. I changed our order and sat down to then watch the 3 ladies serving stand and gossip and chat for the next 1/2 hour whilst the young boy and gentleman tried cleaning around them. I couldn't believe it, they'd turned everything off to stand around talking and ignore customers. They also all took it in turns to handle all the cakes and biscuits in the display cabinet, squeezing and prodding them to check for freshness. It was quite unbelievable, they hadn't washed their hands and weren't wearing gloves. I am so disappointed as this little cafe has real potential to be something special.

We had a late lunch at the community cafe and were impressed with the quality of the service and the food. The gallery and shop sell interesting and beautifully made jewellery and pottery at a fraction of most gallery prices. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Real value for money.

Had been looking forward to visiting Earlams since hearing that it had opened during the summer. Earlams is an upmarket cafe, local store and gallery/gift shop. It opened thanks to the local community getting together for this venture. The result is a very nice cafe offering tasty food and drinks at very reasonable prices. The shop is part basic essentials and part upmarket luxury items of food and drink. The gallery is well stocked with the type of artwork and gifts you would expect to find in this affluent community, tastefully presented and reasonably priced. A lot of the work is original and quite unique. It is staffed by members of the community who are all volunteers. having said that the chef was a professional chef before retiring. Being where it, close to National Trust property at Style Mill, there are lots of good walks in nearby woodland and around Style village where the TV program 'The Mill' is filmed makes it ideal for the outdoor type. Knowing this there is ample outside seating and a marquee for those with muddy boots and/or dogs. This is a genuine must visit venue.

We called into this little community cafe, store and craft shop on the advice of family members, and were very glad we did. A little co operative style operation run by volunteers who work very well together, with a lovely community feel to it.We ordered a very nice selection of delicious cakes, some lovely coffees, and a warming pot of tea, which was just what we needed! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. (A special mention to "Chef Alan" who seems to work tirelessly, cooking, baking, etc!)They do a full English breakfast for £6, baked potatoes with fillings at £3.50 and a filling bowl of homemade soup with bread at £3.50 makes it excellent value for money. I only wish we hadn't had our lunch! We will return! Keep up the good work.

Food has got expensive, on the website states paninis £7.75, when the actual price in the cafe is over £10. We had 2 paninis and a pot of tea, the bill came to over £27. We use the cafe on a regular basis, but will be giving it a miss from now.

The most appalling 'meal' and service that I have ever been subjected to. We ordered steak and ale pie and this was brought out to us and placed on our table and described as a pie. However, there was absolutely no pastry, just a bit of gravy in a dish. When I called the waiter back he said 'to be honest, we've ran out of pastry' - are these people for real? To add insult to injury, the manager actually tried to charge us for the pies we never received!!!! Shambolic and not for the first time, but definitely for the last. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY!!!!

This place has a vast amount of things for children to play on. However don’t expect to get food quick- they have two cage areas but one is never open and the other has a constant huge queue because the staff take forever! Even if you want drinks you have to queue with the food and last time we queued for 25 minutes! Ridiculous when you have children to supervise and feee!
