In the middle of renovating but food was well worth the money. Not a place for airs and graces but that what makes it a great little find.

Lovely family run fish and charcoal grill bar. We visited to try some traditional beach fish and chips. The fish and chips were freshly made, cooked in separate oil fryer section not to mix oil with other meat products. The fish was lovely and crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy white in the inside and traditional chunky home made chips with a splash of salt and vinegar and home made gravy. Many of the local fish bar we visited all mix the fish batter with other meat products and use beer batter which as a muslim I am not allowed to eat. Lovely friendly staff and great to see all the family helping out. Good price, good location close to all shops, pub, amazement parade and arcades. If local and fancy some fish and chips close to the beach visit here. The Fish Bar is also close to a pay and display car park and public toilets. You could say it’s a halal fish bar if you’re looking for one while visiting beach.. pop down and try the food you wont be disappointed 5* food with 5* service!!

Nicely cooked tasty fish lovely and white with crispy batter not soggy or greasy Chips were great good choice of potato really nice taste. We had a take away regular size fish and chips very good value for money. Really nice friendly owner thank you

The best fish and chips for miles! Chips cooked to absolute perfection, fresh fish and amazing portion sizes. Cannot fault Dymchurch fish bar amazing value for money and brilliant food. Thank you 🙂

Poor food, Fish tasteless and greasy. Chips tasteless. Disappointing as we paid nearly £25 for two portions of cod and chips, apparently large, poor size portions and poor quality taste. Next time i will do my research before chancing food like this. Plenty of other local chippies had excellent reviews.

Chips edible but fish smelt a bit strong but the problem was the battery, it was soggy and under fried, very greasy and the shop was a little like the local kebab shop DIRTY! Only went here because Beach 48 was closed.

Ohhh, very disappointed, dried out fish, soggy chips. They are in a perfect position in the high street to take advantage of those visiting Dymchurch. Sadly people will swerve this place.

Looking at other reviews they are talking rubbish,have had fish and chips for the past 3 weeks delivered and can honestly say they are the best,very hot, perfect cooked fish,nice and moist, wouldn't go anywhere else,give it a go.

Went in there and there was a terrible smell of faeces. Turned my stomach, so walked straight back out and went elsewhere. That smell made me feel hygiene wouldn’t be good at all. Avoid

Visited yesterday at 6pm. Poor customer service. Worst chips ever. Dry and hard. Appeared to have been kept warm in an oven for considerable amount of time as did the battered cod. Tiny tasteless pot of baked beans for £2 =rip off. When the best thing was the pickled gherkin, you have got to worry. Decor awful, dirty and old.

Absolutely rubbish, chips were ok, ordered large chips for everyone as portions were small. Battered sausage was inedible. Burnt to crisp . Curry sauce was like curried water . Microwaved in plastic containers which melted….. I will never go again completely rubbish

Not the best …thought we’d try somewhere new. Staff friendly enough but small portions and not good quality. Sometimes a change isn’t always the best.

Food was terrible batter all fell of the sausage it was over cooked felt sick half hour after eating it, woke up during the night throwing up all my food 🤢 don’t sell half the stuff they are meant to… wouldn’t return waste of money no wonder they wasn’t as busy as the others

Food here was amazing! However, the customer service/atmosphere given from the man behind the till was rather rude and blunt. No people skills what so ever!

This place should be shut down. Had to leave 1 star to be able to review. Stayed in caravan park and decided to treat the family to chippy tea. The food was disgusting and was thrown in the bin. I would not feed it to the pigs on the farm. Asked for forks, they had none, asked for curry, was told oh i have 2 left which was like glue in a pot. Customer service disgusting. Honestly no idea how this place is trading serving disgusting food to the public. Never again will i spend any money in the vile dirty place.

We just visited there tonight never again the staff had attitude from the off and the food I would not feed it to my goldfish the chips were hard and tastless the curry was just awful and the fish was full of oil and no taste to it and for the price we paid for our food I was expecting better I will never go there again and I advice them to get a grip of there food and attitude towards people.

Just had a portion of chips here one of the nicest chips we have had for a long tine

Just ordered 3 savaloy and 2 small chips and 2 gherkins- it was awful. The savaloy s had obviously been in water for too long as they tasted watery and were so mushy they all went in the bin I didn't order one but had a bite and spat it out. The gherkins were the same size as ones you get in a jar I can't remember how much they were each but I can tell you it was an absolute rip off unless they were 20 pence each. We walked away and had them in the car otherwise I would hve taken it all back. Such a shame as the lady who served me was lovely.

Awful, I should’ve known to avoid when it smelt of old/dirty oil in there. Chips were cooked ok but you could taste the old oil on them. Sausage was awful and tasteless my sister had a saveloy and she couldn’t eat it and had to spit out the bite she took! A real shame as we had the most delicious chips from there last summer.

How you can manage to give stomach upsets to three people from chips and onion rings is beyond me! Seems to have possibly changed ownership, now contains a chicken shop too. Couldn’t see food hygiene rating not on display but looked it up and it was 3 in 2021 so probably due an inspection. Open jar of Nutella on a table with a dirty knife and children’s books, place looked like construction was still underway. Used to get chips from here regularly but won’t be visiting again.

Visted yesterday as had family over and wow was it yummy . Really good value for money all 5 of us said it was the best fish and chips we have had for a long long time. The lady serving was so lovely also . We will defo be back again .

I had a large haddock and large chips £11.00. Large chips was a massive portion in a box crispy, hot and not greasy. Haddock was amazing, large, really crispy and great flavour, in another box so not all dumped together which turns everything soggy. Have been going here for years.

Fish part was shut but the chicken and peri peri grill was open and the taste of the southern fried chicken was absolutely delicious the best i have ever tried, if KFC was a 1 this is a 12 and above fantastic flavour 😋

The owner was very unprofessional and the quality of their fish and chips was appalling. They also give really bad quality knives ands forks. Never again.

Food was poor, greasy overcooked small potions

Worse chip shop in area, chips not cooked properly, battered sausage over cooked on outside and under cooked in the centre and very greasy. Onion rings burnt and greasy. Never call here again.

Not sure I'd visit again, food was nice enough but it needed a good clean and tidy.

Nice fish and chips but amazing Southern fried chicken !

Food was rubbish. My fish was given to another customer 3 times. Waited 30 minutes for 3 items. Other people were asking for refunds. No organisation at all. 10/10 entertainment value though because you couldn’t help but laugh. Fish was being put in fryer with no batter and they didn’t know how long the chips had been in. It made faulty towers look normal. Funny show. Still laughing now 😂

A great place with quick service. We popped in for some chips while in the area and they were great. Freshly cooked but we didn't have to wait too long. Reasonably priced too.

Great value for money. Large cod and chips just over £7. At our local Chippy it’s well over £10. The fish I had was cooked fresh and it was perfect. Really nice crunchy fluffy chips too. Staff were helpful and polite Social distancing adhered tooo.

Honestly the worst chips we had ever tasted. They were clearly made out of cheap potatoes. They had black spots all on the cheap, they looked like they had been reheated several times. The staff were friendly enough but I and my family will never visit again and do not recommend this chip shop

Two young, inexperience kids with a disgraceful, rude attitude and laughed at me when challenged about their very poor food hygiene practices and Covid 19 concerns. Spent most of their time on their mobile phones, and when not on their phones, left their phones sitting in amongst the food serving area, covered in grease. Disgusting.

Worst chippy experience ever!! Had to rate atleast one star to leave this review but it doesn't deserve any. Should have trusted our instincts when we walked in and noticed how grotty it looked. Spent over £20 on a fish 'n' chip supper to eat on the beach with my family. When we asked for forks, we were told" we 'avent got none left" Great! We shall eat with our fingers then... during a pandemic. Chips were hard and undercooked, cod was dry and the batter told me the oil was long past its best. After a couple of mouthfuls we chucked the lot in the bin. Avoid this poor excuse of a take away, it's apalling.

Well what can I say absolutely appalling food!!! Chips were so dry, like they had been sat for a couple of days and the fish wasn't freshly cooked, dry and horrible. Drove back to our campsite and they had not given us all our order, so had to drive back. You would hope that a seaside fish and chip shop would have a higher standard!!

The best fish and chips in Dymchurch, their larg cod is LARGE. We use to use another shop in the village but let down twise with their small size for large cod. I will be using the Martellow fish and chip shop all the time in the future, the quality of their fish, chips and curry sause was excellent, also the staff had time to smile and helpful although they were extremely busy. Hope they open late into the year.

Very nice fish and chips to be had here and reasonably priced.(Unlike seafood stall across the road!). Visited here last week and had decent size portion of chips with roe and it was hot and tasty. All meals presented in a box.Recommended chippy.

We popped in here today, very friendly girl behind the counter dished up some of the best chips I've had in years, my daughter also commented on how good the chips were too, I'd definitely go back again.

Tried this place for first time. Ordered large chips and a jumbo battered sausage. Went and parked by the sea ready to enjoy...... chips not quite cooked and my jumbo battered sausage had NO BATTER on it, chips not very nice all for the extortionate price of £5.40 GEE THANKS FOR THAT.

The staff were fine but for a fish n chip shop by the sea I would of at least expect the chips to be proper chips but these were pre cut ready made chips not fresh potatoes cut on site. It was a real shame but they just tasted like deep fried oven chips, come on guys your a coastal chip shop sort it out!!

Best chip shop experience I have ever tasted I would like to elaborate on 2 of the comments on here about the “frozen chips” which there are not frozen you can clearly tell this. Must be tried by all excellent chip shop

Reopened in March 2018 under new management, yet to try the food so unable to review this establishment. Had fish and chips from The Martello Fish & Chip Shop, arrived as they were preparing two very large orders for two waiting customers which meant a bit of a wait as all orders are cooked to order. My order was taken and placed in the queue, I had to wait around 15 minutes which considering the circumstances wasn't too bad. Well worth the wait as my order was cooked to perfection and chips were some of the best I have tasted. The only downside was that only cash is taken, which caused a bit of a panic as I didn't have the full amount; had to find a cash machine. Hopefully, as the business becomes established this may be rectified.

No food in the display cabinet, so you couldn't see what you was getting. Sausage in batter was tiny - seems to be a regular frozen pork sausage dipped in batter. Chips were frozen oven chips. Disappointing for a chip shop in a sea side town. Wouldn't go there again.

Nearly didn't stop in here because previous reviews mediocre. Bit of a wait as only 2 working. Both fish and chips cooked freshly, wow what fab food! Fish thick and huge! Crispy and not greasy! Some of the best we've had!

I visited this chip shop last night, they had run out of Haddock & small Cod, but i was given the large cod & chips at the price of small which was good value for money, however I was surprised to be served up frozen packet chips as I expected them to be freshly cut, nor did I like the fact that the chips were poured all over the fish, as i expected them to go in the box before the fish. Two nice friendly young men serving & cooking, but overall I found the batter fatty tasting & the chips dry & boring.

Gorgeous food, lovely service! Must be tried by all!
