We called for lunch on the 19th,having never been before and are so glad we did,the food was lovely. My ma in law ordered a crab sandwich which she really enjoyed,my wife ordered a ham baguette which she enjoyed also,I ordered the red pepper and chilli humus with pitta which was lovely all three dishes had a good side salad and we all had a cup of tea. Everything was of hood quality and very tasty

This is not the place to go if you are a weary walker who after a long trek up the beach just wants some filling and delicious food. The menu is very pretentious and is obviously aimed at a different market than us. There was little choice and we settled for scones in the end. They were delicious but not really what we wanted for lunch. The service was glacially slow too, which meant the queue was snaking back through the restaurant where people were eating. Very disappointing.

Had heard great things about the place, 4 adults 2 had cream and jam scones, they were massive and apparently tasted good but not enough jam in them. One had a iced bun, which was massive and again apparently very nice. I however chose Norfolk shortbread. What a disappointment. It was exceptionally dry and in the whole thing about 5/6 sultan's. Guinness was cold. Iced mocha and oat milk mocha were fine too. Wouldn't hurry back. Oh and one loo has no look on the door, wouldn't take long to fix it

I thought this cafe was very nice, there were some lovely big Danish pastries on offer, how could we say no!? Prices were very, very reasonable and looking at others plates of food portions were good. My only gripe - no teapot, tea made in a mug, if I'm paying above £1 for a tea I do believe I'm entitled to a teapot as tea done in a cold mug just doesn't taste the same! I did ask and once I knew teapot not available I chose a cold drink but would have really loved a proper brew with my Danish!! Very hot inside on a sunny day, thankfully an outside table came available part way through our refreshments, maybe a little more outside seating could help. Overall though a really good place to get very nice refreshments.

Very disappointed. Service painfully slow and staff disinterested. We waited a long time in the queue and there was no sense of urgency on the part of staff

Nice tables and surroundings. Slowish ordering system and long queue with just one person taking orders. Food excellent however with a big recommendation for the fresh crab sandwiches which were generously filled .

Queued for 25 minutes just to order . Young lad was trying his best but it was beyond slow !! Toilets weren’t great either , when staff were told that it was blocked , she just said it needed pulling properly !!! It was blocked !!! Lady serving was snappy and miserable . The only decent thing was the food !! Such a shame as we walked along the beach to get there and were looking forward to it ! Food was good though !!

Perfect place for a light lunch. Initially ordered two dressed crabs with salad but owing to demand there was only one left! This was resolved and I opted for hummus, pitta and olives - without any prompting I was quickly and discreetly given a refund for the difference in cost. So pleased that my husband who is coeliac was able to have gluten free bread with his crab, and they toasted this at our request too. The extra bonus is that it is dog friendly and our two boys were very content to sit quietly under the table inside after having enjoyed a puppaccino each!

Been here several times before - it used to be the case that it was handy to have somewhere, anything, for food & drink near Waxham beach. It has improved over the years and is now as much a part of the pleasure as the beach walk itself. Lovely coffee and delicious cakes this morning.

We came here for lunch after visiting the nearby horsey beach. The cafe was very busy & as a party of 6 we were ready to turn back around but the young gentleman did his best to find us a table & promptly re arranged chairs etc to get us all seated together. All the staff were friendly & helpful despite being rushed off their feet. Food was delicious & served promptly.

We came across this on our way home and called in to look at the barn and see if we could get a ‘cake away’ 😁 it turns out that we could. We wish we had found it earlier as the menu and food looked amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful and we got an amazing scone and a Norfolk shortbread ‘cake away’ to have either our afternoon tea. Will definitely be back to eat here again.

We stopped here for breakfast having had a lousy meal at the Ferry Inn further down river. I'm pleased to say that the service and breakfast was excellent. We had a full English and a veggie breakfast both of which was made with good quality ingredients and which was plentiful. The dogs had a bacon sandwich which was made with thick bread and good bacon. Service was good and the staff were lovely. The cakes are to die for. I'd stop here again because the food and ambience is conducive to the nice relaxing holiday.

We decided to pop in here for lunch, as we had been before a few years ago and enjoyed it. Food was great, but due to the rain we sat inside. Unfortunately the restaurant seating area was infested with flies! They were literally all over the chairs and tables. It spoilt the meal as we felt we had to rush our food before flies landed on it. It felt very unhygienic. There seemed to be no measures to control/prevent the flies, and staff did not seemed bothered. As we were only visiting the area I doubt if we will ever return.

My trip to Dunes was a total disaster. The owner's attitude ruined everything. When my dog needed to go in the outdoor parking area, I responsibly cleaned up after him. I asked a staff member where to toss it, and she pointed me to a bin, which I double-checked with her. Even though it looked like a regular restaurant bin, she assured me it was fine. But then, out of nowhere, the owner, stormed in all rude. She demanded I take the bag out of the bin, completely ignoring what their own staff member said. I tried explaining, but she wouldn't listen. She insisted I take the bag out of the bin. Later, I found out the staff member falsely claimed I kept asking where to put it, which was untrue, I only asked once and sough clarity! Considering the owner's behaviour, I cannot support Dunes in Waxham or Acle any longer. If you're looking for a cafe where customers are treated with respect and fairness, I recommend exploring alternative options to avoid similar unpleasant encounters.

We came in for Lunch today and want to start off by saying that the location is idyllic, the food is delicious and most of the staff are wonderful. However, our meal was completely bulldozed by one member of staff (don’t know her name, elderly, black hair, heavy makeup). Not only would she not leave us alone for the duration of our meal which was very off putting, she proceeded to try to force feed me mushy peas using a dirty spoon off of the floor. At the end of our meal we were sitting and enjoying our drinks when she then took them from our table, we were considering getting coffees but felt very pressured to leave after such disastrous service. We are honestly embarrassed for you at No 1, that kind of behaviour was not very becoming at all…. What would have been the perfect meal out ended up being a complete nightmare.

Sadly the food didn’t match the lovely welcoming service. Sunday lunch was expensive - £20 for a trio of roasts. The veg was odd - leeks and carrot with some very hard brocolli. Overcooked roast potatoes and parsnips. Potential to be a nice Sunday lunch but needs a fair bit of work. £20 is a lot for a toast but this place really cannot justify the price, sorry 😔

Over priced! £11.95 for toasted sandwich that came with small side salad, small pot shop bought coleslaw and handful chips. Had bacon and brie filling with so much cranberry it tasted more like jam sandwich. With a coffee each bill came to £33. Most costly lunch I've had for ages. Won't be rushing back.

Down in Worstead on wee business trip, asked about possibility of lunch nearby and were directed to the White Lady. It was around 14:30 on a Sunday afternoon so expectations weren't too high (would have settled for a sandwich...). Friendly welcome, assured food would be no problem and we're given 3 menus! We're invited to sit anywhere we chose so opted for window seat in dining area to rear. We both opted for Sunday roast topside. Absolutely fantastic. Beef cooked to perfection, awesome roast potatoes and Yorkshire pud, came with glazed chantenay carrots, buttered green beans and zingy red cabbage, jug of lush gravy and topped of with dish of unctuous Cauliflower and cheese (each by the way). Thinking about making the 3 hour drive again just to have that experience again.
