Jenny our server was a lovely lady who helped in every way she could, very much appreciate everything she did.

Veggie/ gluten free mushroom chilli was significantly better than the average GF/veggie offering at a pub. I was impressed!

Great experience! Manager Adam and the staff on duty were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to make sure we were happy and comfortable. We enjoyed our food very much. The DoM is a great venue: a very cosy spot with a good selection of drinks and a very nice and welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend 😊 we’ll be back for sure!

The service and atmosphere at the Duke of Monmouth was polite and adequate. However, the food was very disappointing. It tasted like bland freezer food with no real flavour. While the staff did their job, the quality of the food really let the experience down.

We held our annual street Christmas Party in the Duke. There were about 50 of us and the pub gave us really excellent service. They discussed our arrangements in detail beforehand and delivered all that we asked. A great evening, thanks to the staff at the pub.

I come to this pub on a regular basis. To eat and have drinks, every time the staff go above and beyond for their customers. A big shout out to Shannon, who is also doing all she can to raise money for Cancer Research. Keep it up guys.

We love coming to the Duke of Monmouth for our family get togethers. The food is always delicious and the service is outstanding. Last night we had booked for the christmas menu and on arrival our table was decorated beautifully. Service was amazing as always and the food….best Christmas dinner I’ve had at an establishment EVER. The turkey was so juicy and the roast spuds were 🤤 everyone had clean plates it was truly delicious and I highly recommend the cheesecake from the festive menu that was stunning too! Thanks Shannon and the rest of the team!

We went as a sports club (ATADO) after a hard training session and we were served up a good variety of hot and cold snacks including sausage rolls, chicken nuggets, sandwiches, onion rings, chips (british chips hot), crisps, coleslaw and had a really great time. The beer was excellent with a good choice of lager/pilsner and real ales and of course everyone's favourite Guiness - pure genius.

Food is ok, but portions are small, and tv was very loud. Friendly staff, limited parking.

Came in this afternoon for bit of lunch, food was brilliant and came out fast, man behind the bar was called Marcus that was always there if we needed him, a young lad in the kitchen called Chris cooked our meals, me and my wife both had the special bonfire burger that was very good,I would highly recommend this establishment, defo visiting again 😀

awful experience. the pub itself is lovely but we arrived to 2 extremely miserable girls working behind the bar, no customer service, not even a smile, just making us fully aware on a very quiet Saturday that we're a huge inconvenience. My partner and I were very kind and polite the entire time, which makes it even worse. the girl behind the bar couldn't be bothered to wash a cocktail shaker to make a simple cocktail and asked me to come back later to ask for a cocktail. I offered to help her make the cocktail as she didn't know and her colleague was ignoring her every time she walked past. The 2nd girl that kept ignoring the one behind the bar who was running food was the most unpleasant, had a face like a slapped ass and walked off the bar halfway through serving me and made it very clear she didn't want to be there, her attitude was disgusting and rude. a word of advice, DON'T work in hospitality if you can't provide the absolute bare minimum. If you don't want to be there, don't be. people are spending your hourly wage on one round, the least you can do is find some kindness within yourselves and make people feel their hard earned money is being well spent. There are also many people that would be really grateful to have your jobs in this current climate, so maybe you can be swapped out for them?

Maybe the worst service I’ve had. Went for lunch on Saturday, the place was almost empty. But I had to wait over 45 mins for our puddings we ordered. All the service was very slow, staff were miserable. Food was over cooked. Would not recommend, will not even go back! Horrible meal

This Venue has a lovely sized garden around the majority of the perimeter, with 2 huge screens outside for sporting events. There are also multiple screens inside if it’s chilly! A friendly vibe(m, with great value food and a wide drinks range suitable for all. Very family friendly with colouring available for little ones.

Me and my partner called in to have a drink on the way back from a trip out on the way home, what a lovely place it is too, the bar maid Shannon, was so lovely and welcoming and was so polite towards us, asking us if we've had a nice day, etc,,we had our drink and said thankyou, to which Shannon replied thankyou for visiting us, which is a bit rare nowadys, so I feel justified in writing a positive review on our visit. Thankyou again Shannon for making us feel so welcome.

went to the on Tuesday with my husband and in-laws for a catch up. we were not rushed and were welcomed and looked after by all the team but a special thank you to our cook cody. the portions were very large but worth the price. the restaurant has a very calm atmosphere. we are likely to return.

Worst service I have received in my life - waited for an hour and a half for our food before having to leave to make other plans. Manager was unapologetic and only compensated for the missing food, constantly making excuses. Claimed to have informed us of a delay with the food when no such communication was received - we sat there for an hour and a half with no word from staff. Go elsewhere, the drinks are bad as well. EDIT: The Manager has gotten in contact to make it right with an extra refund and vouchers offered - this is appreciated and is perhaps showing of the other glowing reviews the pub has. Greene King is usually good for this and is shown here.

Waited nearly 2 hours for food, got a refund just for the main courses after being told it was on the way multiple times. Absolutely awful

The worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. After waiting over an hour and a half for food, we asked for the time our food would be ready so we could decide whether we’d rather just have a refund or not. They refused to refund the small number of starters and drinks we’d had, only refunding the money for the mains we waited insanely long for and apparently still wasn’t close to being prepared. This meal was supposed to be for my dad’s birthday and my graduation, after a day of long travelling and missing lunch. Instead, it was an evening completely wasted and ruined. The staff were unsympathetic, unapologetic, and quite frankly rude. The fact we waited that long and didn’t even end up with our meals is ridiculous. Terrible service.

A nice stop for a Sunday Roast. The turkey was the most tender I've ever had (including 63 Thanksgivings); fork-cutable. And the gravy added deliciousness to everything. Well done, lads.

Absolutely wonderful staff! Everyone was so nice, especially the manager Adam. Clean and stellar service with delicious food! The chicken shawarma flatbread was so good; I can't believe I devoured the whole thing.

The food was absolutely delicious ! The menu offers a wide variety of options. Kind and friendly service and are supper welcoming to dogs and offer blanket and water for them which was lovely of them.

Gets a four purely for location. Stunning riverside garden with great sunsets when the weather permits. A fullers pub but with a great selection of guest ales. I don’t like the way the tables are reserved for those eating when the garden is half empty. Punters tend to gamify this system by ordering a plate of fries. Pushes the relatively high spending drinkers to the shade and at the back.

I recently visited with my Great Aunt Edna and her 4 year old cookapoo, Tommy. I indulged into a double warners rhubarb gin and slim line tonic (slimming world guru here) as I was pleasantly upsold from a single! My Aunt Edna had half pint of YARDBIRD…Super fruity and a great balance morish after taste. The barman I think his name was Adam advised they rotate their Ales weekly but YARDBIRD must stay!!! The garden is clean, tidy and the glorious weather topped off the day. Would highly reccomend visiting the Duke of Monmouth if you’re passing by!

This cozy pub is tucked away just outside the city center, but it’s an absolute treasure. The beer garden is a delight, with plenty of seating and a warm atmosphere. Inside, there are loads of games to keep you entertained, from pool to darts. The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall charm of the place. Perfect for unwinding with friends or catching up over a pint. The snack menu is well-curated and reasonably priced, with some great deals on offer. An impressive selection of craft beers and ciders, with some unique options

Quiet during our second visit. Couple of nice pints of ale and some food, sat outside with the dogs. Would happily visit again.

Visited over the weekend and had the Chicken Shawarma Flatbread - absolutely delicious! Fab staff were very patient whilst I tried to choose a gin 🤣 settled on Hendricks Flora Adora which I had never tried before! Lovely covered garden area out the back - will definitely be visiting again soon!

Beautiful pub with extremely friendly staff. The garden is stunning, and the pergola-covered area with the tv is a welcome difference from the majority of pubs around here, especially in the rainy weather!! Great well rounded menu with plenty of different choices for all. Exceptional value and great quality.

Website said no tables available wife called at 17.30 very polite man said we r not busy so we parked up and polite service and 2 very good mixed grills this was after a visit to oxford and neither of is had eaten travelling up ftom west sussex.This is a case of never judge a book by its cover and would recommend.visit was on 21st of July 2024

Came in for a meal tonight and chose the Swiss Burger and it was delicious! Well presented and it filled a hole on our travels! Special shout out to the new manager who made our experience, we will be back again!

The Sunday Roasts are always amazing at this pub. The food is served hot, with plenty on the plate. It seems to be one of the only Green Kings that offer the extras if you want (pigs in blankets, extra Yorkshire’s etc.) …….and if you don’t like a roast the recent change in menu provides a better variety then it did before (and is definitely temping me to go back soon to try some of it out 🙃) I’ve never had a bad meal there and look forward to my next visit

Worst pub in Oxford hands down. Walked in, the atmosphere was so depressing you'd think someone had died. There was music on the quietest volume which makes it pointless to have it on in the first place. The two blokes behind the bar were very mundane and dull. This is where is gets bad...I go to the toilet and there's this disgusting diarrhea all over the seat and the toilet bowl with urine on the floor. The smell was horrendous. Surprise suprise, a day later, I am now really sick with diarrhea. Coincidence? I think not. I got a pint and it tasted like bronze coins, very coppery and bizzare. Perhaps the pipes are rusty, I don't know. All I can say is, something was not right for sure. To make it worse, the table I initially sat at was sticky. There is no cleanliness standard at this pub. Stay well away from this place. I am writing this whilst being off sick from work thanks to their disgusting hygiene.

Food took a little while to appear but was up to standard. There is parking but if the pub was busy you would be parking on the street. Still, a good enough stop for a bite when passing through or sitting outside watching footy in the well prepared space.

excrement In the gents toilets around the pan and walls and in corners that was dried in , so had to have beeb there for weeks / months … sack your cleaners. The GM - Should have an opening checklist to ensure the business is fit for purpose !! Also he could do with a mirror as he looked a state and his team were untidy in appearance … standards should be set from the GM …you serve food but you have standards as a back street cafe that’s well below par … 🤢

Great good value food and also dog friendly pub. We went for a last minute Sunday lunch and the pub managed to accommodate us without a booking. We had a lovely meal, service was quick and friendly staff.

Fairly bog standard Green King pub cheap drinks, service is always decent, atmosphere leaves something to be desired when compared to other pubs in Oxford but they're up against difficult competition. Reasonably priced pints

Having been a regular diner for some years I feel I must give thanks where it’s deserved to Ashleigh and her team, her pub have the best kept garden it south oxford with probably the largest TV for miles . But mine love is the ambience her team create with there customers mind you the food is excellent value for money keep up team from table 8

Went here for food and had a lovely experience! The staff were attentive and very helpful, the food was fantastic, would especially recommend the steak and ale pie, and the hunters chicken. Had a lovely beer garden with the sport on and a good range of drinks, plus dog friendly so will definitely be visiting again!

My local, staff are great with one exception. Good atmosphere when the football is on. Great night out when Danny Love does a set. I love the place.

Katsu chicken. Hunters chicken and a childs fish fingers with chips & beans. Was told as food was given us that there was no salad so we gave you extra chips. Should of asked before serving us really. Food just mediocre deep fried microwave food.

Eat/drink here usually once/ maybe twice a week whilst away on business. Food generally good, pub ambience pretty relaxed with pleasant bar staff. Quick mention for Kimberly Jane who I find is always pleasant & helpful…and now remembers what my beer of choice is without asking….almost feel like a regular! usually able to find a quiet corner if I don’t want TV football.

We were very well received. We ate an emblematic dish with pleasure because it was good! And then the atmosphere and decor are perfect!! THANKS

My friend and I visited this lovely pub yesterday as we were staying at the hotel a short walk away. I had the pie and mash and it was absolutely delicious. My friend had the chilli which she said was very nice. The pub itself is very nicely decorated, staff are very friendly, efficient and service is quick. Lovely atmosphere and comfy seating. Dog friendly too.
