Rick's Cafe in Oxford

Been here multiple times usually early lunch time, the women is usually absolutely lovely. Went in this afternoon so it was a different women. She had no clue about the menu or how anything worked, she made it feel like i was being difficult. I wanted to order a meal which she said only came with fries even though it was an extra £3 for a meal when fries are only £ 2.50. In the end it put me off the food so much, i decided against ordering anything as i felt too overwhelmed. In the end she ended up coming over and agreeing i was right but not apologising for how rude she was

Good place for breakfast, very friendly and the eggs with avocado were a good portion and it was very tasty I'll come and try the Pancakes Another thing is that they have many vegetarian and vegan options.

Highly recommend this place. My husband invited me for a date saying that I have to try burger in this diner. And he knows,that I'm not fun of this kind of food,but I trust him. 😊 Cut straight to the main point. Burgers were very tasty, full of flavour, very satisfying. Also need to point out - diner have very friendly and positive atmosphere, cool and thought throw wall designs, and quick service. Please go and try it yourself. Won't regret it.

The bacon burger I chose had the perfect blend of sweet, umami, and salty. An extraordinary plethora of tastes in one meal. Great mouth feel too. And fries, very nice. Good good, good food. Regarding the atmosphere, it felt like a classic American diner, cozy and homey, a place to relax.

Amazing food,the girls behind the till are always helpful and sweet! Food took longer than usual today but usually pretty quick. Food was very spicy but I did choose the spicy chips😅.

Had the English breakfast from here, all of it was cold and didn't taste very nice either. Sticky dirty floors, dirty tables, very poor. Staff were nice though.

We tasted the English breakfast and some pancakes that are delicious like this, with honey, whipped cream and cinnamon!

Compared to other breakfast places in Oxford, it is a more affordable place. American and English breakfasts. Egg dish for 2 people, kv, orange juice £30

Really enjoyed it. I'm diabetic and the staff were v kind, giving me a 10.min warning before injecting for my food .

A glorious culinary establishment

Thoroughly enjoyed the reggae music and chilled out vibe of the restaurant. The food is very reasonably priced. I had the falafel wrap and chips. I thought the chips were a bit bland, and could have used some more salt. The falafel in the wrap was nice, but I would have enjoyed some Hummus in there too.

Lovely breakfast! I had eggs Benedict – perfect. Nice coffee too, and an excellent smoothie. Nice staff and atmosphere. Strongly recommended.

Amazing experience in Rick's diner. Such friendly staff and amazing food. Went for breakfast and the full English was cooked to perfection. The beans even had garnish! Coffee was smooth and strong and I recommend the bueno milkshake!! Even the music choices was on point.

The food was great, however the entire cafe was filled with the smell of cigarette smoke from the delivery drivers at tables outside the open door and windows - a constant presence during the two hours we were there. Won't be back.

Hands down one of the best breakfast places in Oxford. They had peanut butter milkshake- which is my all time favourite and my go to milkshake! Super affordable, great and friendly service! Would definitely be back.

Rick's has just started serving gorgeous patisserie. They're fresh and homemade and look like beautiful jewels, together with croissants. The usual diner food is still available with delicious teas and coffees. You could spend all day there, grazing!

Economical place where you can enjoy a good breakfast. I ordered the traditional English breakfast for 10.99 and it was delicious, as well as filling. The site is a success.

Last Wednesday I went to Rick's on my lunch break and I ordered chicken tenders; the food was really delicious. The service was amazingly put forth by Dinis and she did a really kind gesture which made my day!

The staff were super nice. Food was edible, but I think they should pay more attention to their menu. I liked what I ordered, but it did not taste as good as the one I have tried in one of their diners.

I come here when I want to relax and have a good burger. Prices are very reasonable and the food is high quality.

Food was great however had to a ask for glasses of water and cutlery as there was none on the table. All food is halal. Service was OK however can be better.

My friend and I had two teas and the French Toast. French toast was really delicious. Nice atmosphere and decor and the gentleman that served us was friendly and welcoming. It was good value given it's close to the city centre location and prices generally in the area.

We were on the way to a concert at the O2 Oxford. We were walking by Rick's Diner and my son pointed. We all went in and had a lovely time. The food was just what we wanted - something quick and different. The staff were helpful and friendly.

I heard a lot of positive things about Rick’s, but was a bit disappointed when I went. The service at the counter was unfriendly, they got our order wrong, mixed stuff up several times, and overall for the price, it was not up to par. Could have just been that they had a bad day, which is forgivable, but I was expecting more.

New management, superb service and outstanding full English breakfast. The sausages were particularly superb. Manager was on top of his game.

Now that Rick's occasionally serves patisserie my experience has improved 100%. You get a good welcome at Rick's beit breakfast, lunch tea/coffee or supper. They close at 10pm. Dogs welcome. Come and try their croissants or almond tarts - divine!

Got a full English, sausage is cold, mushrooms taste of old frying oil, bacon is low quality. Don’t recommend!!

A great find for our daily brunch while staying in Oxford. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, nothing was a problem to them. The food was an excellent price and perfectly cooked. We look forward to returning later in 2024. Thank you for such great service.

Was looking for the best english breakfast in Oxford and unfortunately this wasn’t it. The regular one was good and solid (missing black pudding), the vegetarian one was lacking some veggie sausage which have been around for long enough to end up on a menu like this. The tap water glasses were dirty, the guy serving us was charismatic. Latte - spot on, Americano tasted like dish water. Hit or miss overall.

I had the best burger I have had in Oxford here no cap. Would definitely recommend. The atmosphere was cool and.zi loved sitting at the corner seats where you could get a view of the busy Cowley road

Had breakfast here and was pretty happy with it. The large tea was great and eggs royale were lovely - poached eggs were perfectly done. Small fry up was the perfect size too. If we’re being very picky the mushrooms were a little salty. Overall a nice spot, not too expensive with a good selection!

Walked in and the place was warming and comfortable as it had a very nice vintage touch. The staff was great and friendly and top tier service. It had a wide range of food and lots to choose from. The food came really quick and was nice and hot and full of flavour. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone as it is one of the best restaurants I have eaten in Oxford.

Food quality is great. Just overall of the business is bit different. Seems like the owner just keeping the place running. Toilet was terrible. Tables dirty. Just cashier and guy from the kitchen are friendly. I think little more details and attention for this business will be good reward for the owner.

The customer service was great, veg friendly, the seating was okay, full of people, however the food was not great. We ordered the English breakfast and really expected better food. It was expensive, the egg was unedible and flavourless, I didn't like the seasoning on the beans, sausages was really nice. Instead of poaxhed egg, we wanted a fried egg style. Also as they state its fully halal, we did not receive any proof, sk felt quite nervous but took their word for it. Overall, the food just lacked taste and quality which we are used to from other places. Only the hash brown and the drinks was nice.

Paid £10.99 for a full English. It was more than disappointing to be quite frank. The amount of liquid that came out of that poached egg was exceedingly concerning. I have left the place still very hungry and actually quite unwell. To add to this the smashed avocado looked ghastly. I will not be visiting this “diner” again

The decoration is super beautiful, we feel that they have put effort into it, it directly sets the mood. The staff is great, they are very attentive to their customers and respect them. For the kitchen you have to go there!! There are halal burgers, it's worth it, it's not too expensive and delicious!! They even offer drinks and desserts at fair prices I totally recommend!!

The food—what of it we could it was fine, good even. My partner liked his food. Mine, however, I told the cashier that I was allergic to tomatoes as the fried chicken sandwich was advertised as having lettuce, pickles, and burger sauce. The cashier told me he’d hold the burger sauce. My partner also ordered a chocolate shake and a fried chicken sandwich with no pickles. The milkshake came first, it was a kinder bueno shake not a chocolate shake. Then our food came, and I was served a fried chicken sandwich with no burger sauce BUT TOMATO SLICES. I then couldn’t actually eat my food and kind of just had to pick around. My partner got my burger. We ordered Cajun fries—the cashier said yes we could do Cajun fries with our meals—and both of our fries came totally plain. My partner ordered his sandwich without pickles because he hates them, and he opened his sandwich to discover a bunch of pickle slices. We’re not planning on ever eating here again. The food tasted fine, the atmosphere was fine, the cashier was fine, but being served food I’m allergic to after explicitly stating I’m allergic to it is a line for me; not receiving what we actually ordered when we paid £26 for lunch really sealed the deal after that.

Recently I go here when I’m depressed bc the food reflects my mood. Large chips doesn’t seem to be any different to regular. Today wrap was bland, before the burger was missing the toppings. Generally mediocre experience but at least it’s fresh cooked. Better than MacDonald’s any day

I had the vegan burger and it was delicious! One of the best vegan patties I've ever had. Chips were good as well. There's a counter at the window, perfect for when you're eating alone.

Great cafe to stop by at the have breakfast or lunch with a slightly smaller yet great quality menu. Nice customer service and the food comes out quick. Pancakes were a little pricey and the burger was great all round. Would recommend coming here every so often if you can manage to find some parking in Oxford.

We went for a nice breakfast at ricks dine very nice design but 0 rate for customer service food come first before the drinks after eating they bring drinks, even took our order to a different table very embarrassing. The most unexpected thing was black flies all over the restaurant keep coming to your plate, you need to fight with flies first before eating. I don’t recommend this restaurant you might get poisoned 🤮 🤮🤮🤮🤮 don’t try.

Half decent burger; good that the patties and bun are large and wide instead of ridiculously tall like some other places, and overall not a terrible price for the area. However the patties were incredibly overcooked. Also, ordered extra jalapenos but only got the pitiful equivalent of 1/3 of a chili. They somehow also got half of our orders wrong, which is odd given that we were the only customers there.

I ordered a double cheeseburger with fries and a drink (as the add on) for collection. Collected and then had to promptly return as I discovered the regular fries had been swapped for TWO has browns and there was no drink… Was told upon my return they’d run out of fries. Why wasn’t I told this on collection? No explanation for the missing drink and no offer of a replacement. Absolutely shocking customer service…

It took over 50min wait to get poached eggs and pancakes, which were not only very basic but also missing the sauces, that were added later by the manager supposedly as excuse for the delay. The waiters were very messy and not capable of running the place, considering that it was quite early (12 when arrived) and the place was not so busy. Not advised.

I'm a big coffee guy and this is now my favourite in Oxford. Great service and amazing food. Highly recommended!
