Lovely, friendly staff and great ethos. Fresh, quality ingredients all presented very nicely on the small plates. However, unfortunately we found the food lacking in flavour, it tasted bland and therefore we were rather disappointed with the meal. I wouldn’t return but my other half said he would because of the fresh, local produce & the restaurant’s ethos

Very nice to go somewhere so accommodating to a single. the menu was impossible to choose from so I selected something random and it was all delicious. The service was immaculate - friendly, relaxed, knowledgeable and very professional. Only minor quibble was the wine was not very good, ok but not very tasty and also I was not a huge fan of my brownie dessert - the ice cream was good but brownie tasted a bit musty - but everything else more than made up it and so nice to be able to eat anything on the menu! A folkestone treasure.

We'd been to Dr Legumes before in their previous location on the harbour. This was our first visit to the new location in the town centre. They did not disappoint - the staff were so knowledgeable and attentive. The menu is pretty good and worth trying. We had a good mood plate and vegan breakfast. The vegan Black pudding is superb. Well worth a second visit if you've not been yet. Try it!!!

Absolutely incredible vegan (& local) restaurant! Food here is out of this world good. Chefs are super talented & clearly put a lot of love & care into their product, & it shows. Vegan or not, I can't see why anyone wouldn't enjoy it here. Food is amazing, atmosphere and staff are great. We came here a lot when it was located down the harbour arm, so looking forward to spending a lot more time in the newly revamped restaurant in the middle of town. We were in Folkstone few weeks ago and found this little gem, unfortunately it was fully booked then so next time we were in the area we decided to go back there and try our luck again 😀 And what a treat - all the dishes we've tried were very delicious, beautiful presented and freshly made. Such a gem of a restaurant. Fine dining vegan food. You can taste the love in every mouthful. The chefs are so clever and I love knowing that the ingredients are fresh, local and of course ethical. Service is always fantastic. We booked for a Friday night expecting tapas, but weren't disappointed with the fact that it was a new menu. Everything we ate was delicious!

Amazing! Happened upon this place in Folkestone harbour, almost didn’t go in as my husband is a confirmed meat eater, so glad we did, what a find!! Warmly welcomed, we were told there was a half hour wait before we could order, due to no booking and everything being freshly prepared, so settled in with a bottle of wine. Our order was taken with much needed advice, and delivered promptly. We shared Sourdough Berber spiced hummus, which was a taste sensation. Main course came soon after, with couple of sides, spring greens and Bombay parmentier potatoes, both packed with flavour!!! The main dishes of stuffed pepper and tomato tart were beyond delicious!! Would highly recommend a visit and we will almost certainly return.

I was searching for a vegan restaurant whilst on a trip to Folkestone and this little gem came up. I was not disappointed at all, the selection is hard to choose from so I'll be going back for more without a doubt. The staff were super friendly and I even got a little bombay potato while I was waiting, free of charge😋 You don't have to be vegan to enjoy their food, just love pure wholesome real food at its finest. Loved it, love the ethos, loved the menu and loved the friendly peaceful vibes 😋 🕊🙏

This was truly the best ever plant based meal we’ve ever had! The dishes were made with such amazing ingredients and put together beautifully, so much so you didn’t want to mess it up! Delicious! Didn’t want it to finish! The staff were warm and friendly and the price was reasonable too. Recommending it to everyone we know!

I love eating meat and veg , BUT Dr Legumes has converted me to try new vegetarian and vegan meals here. The food is so TASTY and FRESH. The staff are very welcoming and helpful to explain the dishes very well. The homemade lemonade is delicious. The live plants and walls make you forget you are in converted shipping containers. We were lucky to have fresh picked flowers on our table. You just need to visit this restaurant.

I booked online and sent an email so was disappointed when we arrived and there was no booking for us. However a member of staff called Esme was very apologetic and said she could fit us in within the next 40 mins. It was a lovely day so we went for a wander along the harbour arm. As promised a table was ready for us when we returned and we went on to have the most delicious rice bowl each. It took some time to decide what to have as everything looked so delicious - especially when you look around and saw the various dishes people were having. Esme served us and was courteous and friendly but also knowledgeable about the menu. Although they were extremely busy we were not rushed and had a really lovely relaxed time in a tastefully laid out setting with delicious food.

Had a wonderful meal here, full of surprises. Every dish was beautifully presented and delicious, making use of local, seasonal and organic ingredients as well as foraged food. The puddings are to die for! The problem was choosing what to have from the menu, so we all ordered different things and shared. A definite must if you are in Folkestone, whether you are vegan or not. They cater for gluten intolerance. The service is excellent and attentive, with care taken to explain unusual ingredients - like the seaweed and corn chowder with banana flowers and fig cornbread, or sweet miso and dulse tarte tatin - and yes, it is fabulous! We have just come back from a social run with Folkestone Running Club and Dr Legumes offered to do a brunch for us after our run. I was do impressed with the effort that went into designing our two plates of food as it was specially targeted to replace the vitamins and minerals lost in running~ amazing!

I have been a vegetarian for nearly 40 years and this is absolutely the best food I have ever tasted. If you are a foodie, vegan, vegetarian (or not) you are missing out if you don't visit this gem of a place. Another regular visitor said to me … come back and taste the chocolate orange cheesecake, or any of the desserts - I defy anyone not to love them!

We just passed by never having been to Folkestone before and sat outside for a simple salad and sweet, but in reality, both dishes were superb and way beyond our expectations with wonderful attention to detail. Well worth the wait for food that is properly prepared and not turned out on a conveyer belt!

Just had a lovely brunch here with my daughter. Veggie vegan food beautifully presented, tasty, wholesome without being faddy - gorgeous. Charming service, informal without being casual, quite a feat to pull off. All with views across the channel. A really lovely way to spend my Sunday morning. Thoroughly recommended. Only drawback was a slightly smaller menu than hoped but given the size of the pop up style accomodation it was a jolly good one. Next time - and there will be a next time - I will do a lunch there and add on some beer. Then I can say perfection....! Wonderful.

It’s so refreshing to have a top quality vegetarian eatery, with an imaginative menu and beautifully presented food. You can see into the kitchen and watch the food being prepared, the food is fresh, the décor is comfortable, the atmosphere relaxed and the staff are friendly, eager to answer any questions about the menu/ingredients etc. Fantastic! Wow, what a gem. I am so glad to have discovered this place, it has become our favourite and we make the journey to visit regularly. Every item on their ever-changing menu has had so much care and time put into it. Everything is fresh, creative, presented beautifully and tastes incredible. Easily beats any other plant based offerings in Kent. Perfect for vegans and non-vegans alike, my non-vegan parents are as obsessed as I am with this place. I cannot recommend it highly enough and look forward to our next visit!

Ive never had a meal in a shipping container before. Should I do so again it will have to be bloody brilliant to register on the all time list of great meals consumed within shipping containers.

Everything about this place is great - the location, decor, service and most importantly the food! There's a great choice of dishes featuring just veg or a mix of veg and seitan as well as desserts. I had a fabulous 'Reubens'sandwich with tasty chips and a lovely oat milk iced coffee. The beetroot ketchup is amazing! We really enjoyed it and will defo be back again.

While investigating the harbour arm we were delighted to find this place in a green shipping container. We had had lunch, but fancied a drink. We liked the menu and so mean to eat there next time. If we’d eaten there it would’ve been a 10. Staff were very friendly, and have a great ethos, based on ecology. Try it folks!

We were welcomed with warmth, and a very accommodating and friendly host. The menu was excellent in terms of price and choice. One friend had her young son and a menu item was adapted for him. We stopped for late afternoon lunch and were so impressed. The food is plentiful and yummy. It doesn't shout about being vegan, just happens to be. Great wine on the list, friendly & relaxed vibe from staff. They're not open every day so worth checking ahead before you go down that way (currently quiet off-season on the harbour arm, so not loads of places open).

I was part of a very lucky group of ladies who visited on Wednesday evening. Dr Legumes opened especially for us and put together a fabulous menu which was shared well in advance with us so we could all look forward to it!!! The mushroom ravioli was to die for, followed by beetroot tart tatin which was amazing (and I am not usually a massive beetroot fan). Dessert was an incredible chocolate creation and I think everyone managed theirs (in spite of making a token protest at the size of the portions). This was my first time here and will not be the last- a fabulous concept presented by a highly talented team - we are so lucky to have them in our town. Thanks again for a super evening!!

Dr Legumes kindly opened especially for a group of around 30 ladies. Gorgeous set menu, all the ingredients of which was explained fully. Very accommodating of anybody with allergies / intolerances. Very friendly and informative owners who are passionate about what they do. Will definitely be back soon.

I've been here a few times now, and thankfully every time I go it's been busier - which doesn't help with the relaxed service, but as long as you're not in a rush that doesn't matter because the food is beautifully thought through and very carefully put together, and the staff are really nice even though slow.

We visited for my birthday last Saturday and our group of 8 were all blown away by the amazing food and chilled out atmosphere. This was our second visit and won’t be our last. Although I am not a Vegan I am dairy and gluten free so the menu suits me very well. The food is so clever you can’t believe it is plant based. I agree with all the reviews. This place is an absolute gem. Lovely tasting food that is beautiful cooked and presented, at a very reasonably price. It might be vegan but that should really not put you off as I’ve rarely tasted such good food and I eat meat. I would definitely go back.

A fabulous evening, four course meal with matched cocktails. The imaginative food combination is simply stunning. Presentation excellent service friendly , helpful and informative. The taste sensation superb it is vegan food at its best. I am not vegan however this is one of the best meals I have had in a long time.

Here for an end of year dinner featuring a team up with Bathtub & Gun and my, what an evening of taste sensation over four courses of food and drink. Not only did the culinary feasting delight this meat eating palate (those sliders, seriously stunning) but everything was designed to please. Big time. Drinks amazing and well complimented to the food. Quick review around the table of five produced a resolute and sounding 9.5 out of 10. Keep it up guys, big times lay ahead.

What can I say...unless you try it, it is hard to explain how good the food at Dr Legumes is without doing it a disservice. I am quite a fussy eater, but there is not one thing I haven’t liked there or will not try. I am a vegetarian, however my partner isn’t and he was easily fooled by the satan chicken strips, he may not admit it but I think he liked them better than the real thing!

We dropped into this cafe/restaurant for tea and coffee and didn't realise it was vegetarian. Oat milk instead of milk was interesting and quite creamy. The staff were very friendly and didnt try to.push us into eating, but the menu did look interesting and we will visit again to eat there.

Located in an upcycled and recycled shipping container on the “shoulder” of Folkestone’s Harbour Arm. Inside is cozy and comfortable, with fresh plants on each table. Outdoor seating is available also. Service is friendly and efficient, and questions eagerly answered about menu items.

Just returned from an amazing Vegan dining experience at Dr Legumes. The menu tonight was a Medicinal Dining experience which was absolutely outstanding. Complimented with top Practitioners of Foreman and Jones Herbal Practice of Hythe to marry the dining experience with the knowledge of the herbal properties of the ingredients and of how the foods we eat are our medicines. The ingredients were top quality organic prepared with such passion and care by the Chefs, the presentation was exceptional and the taste superb! Absolutely outstanding and excellent value for money, way as good as any Michelin Star Restaurant i have been to. The ambience was pretty special too and the service absolutely excellent. It was a gem of a find and I can't wait to return. Although it was vegan any meat eater would find it hard not to enjoy!!!! Thank you to them all at Dr Legumes!
