We popped in for the first time this evening. Cracking service and lovely cocktails. Also if you’re going to have a nibble you have to try the scotch egg and Olives too! Awesome.

What a great new spot this is in Gloucester! We had an amazing meal for exceptional value (the pork cutlet is HUGE and the steak pie is divine. The “nibbles” are a delicious starter in themselves). The staff here are very friendly and helpful and wanted to make the experience here a good one. I loved the local choice of lager and cider - a shame that there was no local wine given that Three Choirs is just down the road and would fit so beautifully with the local theme of this pub, The only reason it is not a 5 is because of the very limited dessert menu - it would be great to see a creme brûlée or a nut free sticky toffee pudding. Overall a great meal and we will certainly be back!

Gorgeous, great quality food, nice selection of drinks, friendly staff and reasonably priced. Lovely location down by the water with a huge conservatory that was perfect for a meal with super comfy seating. Wheelchair accessible and a disabled toilet too. Four of us had made a reservation for brunch in this beautifully refurbished restaurant/pub. Delighted to be shown into the airy conservatory. Such a great space overlooking the water. We chose our food items from the menu.2 had publican fry and two had eggs benedict with haloumi and avocado. Tea and coffee was great also. Service from Alex and Millie was amazing, very polite and efficient. Extremely delicious food served here..Highly recommended.

This was my first visit to the refurbished Dr Foster and it was immediately clear that much work had gone into its upgrade. However, a definite shortcoming is the unventilated glassing in of the dockside area which meant that even on a normal summer evening it was like an overheated greenhouse and not surprisingly, the 15 or so tables (50 covers!) in that area remained empty throughout my visit. A pity, in that a good example of how to do it properly is at the greek restaurant just next door. I also found the choice of beers strangely limited but was told it was policy to only serve locally sourced ales, Guiness?? The well known Henry Westons vintage cider was prominent but, being very strong is not for the faint hearted or casual drinkers on a night out. In summary, an interesting venue but not one to make a bee line to on a visit to the docks.

Wow, what a fabulous afternoon, the staff were amazing friendly, polite and professional, the food was outstanding and the best Sunday lunch we have had eating out for years. We were a party of 8 with 2 small boys who loved their roast too. The pudding was excellent as well. We were guided through the food and drinks menus by attentive staff, and we didn’t have to wait very long after we had placed our order, first class service. The decor is fresh and modern too, and there are many areas to sit and relax. Excellent and highly recommend

It was really hot outside but inside was beautifully cool. We had a great Sunday lunch. Even the 3 year old loved the beef croquettes -they were lush. And the veg were great. Visited Dr. Fosters after it has been refurbed and I was pleasantly surprised and great service. I would like to say that Joanne went above and beyond and was a fantastic server and she really did have excellent customer service skills. From making it so personal and not robotic and also was able to have a laugh and helpful. Recommending dishes and offering sides really was great service. Food was tasty atmosphere was great. One thing just as feedback and that was just not clear where host station was to go as we came through the harbour side doors and one thing the font for price on menus were hard to read otherwise great job

Tatty, scruffy, rubbish strewn. Reported to be under new ownership and I would expect some effort to recoup their investment rather than obvious neglect. Outside both back and from is in need of basic cleaning. Kerb appeal is zero and looks uninviting and neglected. Scruffiest place in the docks. Looks closed all the time. Big fan fair when taken over has amounted to nothing. I cannot see this place surviving as customers take more care where they spend their money. Very very disappointing.

Good. Went on Saturday to a mates retirement do. It wasn't very busy when I arrived, shortly after 6pm. But it soon got busy and we were lucky enough that they opened the bar upstairs, which was good. The staff were friendly & polite. The football wqs on but it certainly wasn't rowdy or raucous. It's always amazed me over the years why it hasn't been busier as its nicely furnished and always has a good atmosphere, close to restaurants at the northern end of the docks with parking nearby and being only a short walk from the city centre. They had a good range of gins, but ran out of rhubarb gin, but they still had plenty of others. Good range of lagers & beers (bottles & draught) although I didn't see an IPA. Korev, enjoyable pint for a fiver.

Visited 19-8-22 after reading in the Gloucester press that this place was now re-opened under new management with ideas to bring in customs including a steak house in the first floor. I was looking forward to this visit as I always enjoyed the place prior to covid lockdowns and it’s closure. Sadly, it looked like a grotty dump. Gone were the comfy sofas and fairy lights and warm atmosphere, gone were all the outside seating along the dockside I was so looking forward too. In its place was loud music (hardly any patrons) rubbish strewn and rundown seating area, had to clear a table from food debris and empty glasses before we could sit down, less than appealing clientele being loud and obnoxious….very much had the feel of a place where people go to over indulge in alcohol before going on to clubs! I will not return and certainly wouldn’t recommend it.

Dr. Foster’s liquor company had no Tanqueray martini which I had requested from a pleasant bargirl. However, it did have a double Tanqueray. Even in this land of James Bond, most barkeeps have never heard of a martini. I was shaken. Not stirred. My experience is that a double is only two ounces in the UK, not the three ounces in Louisiana. The view on the docks/quays is pleasant.

However nothing else appears changed and the place has a rustic grubiness. This place has reopened. Whether or not by the same management, I’m not sure but my bank balance sure knows about it. Two beers, some crisps and then some milk for the little’un and it cost me the best part of £20. We only stopped in on the way home as we’d seen it had reopened while walking past it a few days earlier. Nice place (as it always has been) and I’m not sure if they’ve got their food back on but it’s a tad on the pricey side for Gloucester… even the Docks. I’ll be back… when my dads paying.

I haven't been here for years, so thought we would try it for lunch yesterday (Sunday). I really like the location, the glass covered atrium and the general look and feel of the place, so thought maybe we had found our new 'go-to' place. As mentioned, the pub on the whole was wonderful, all except for the dismally slow food service and the horrid toilets. Like many, we do tend to judge a place as much by the facilities as we do the food, atmoshphere and decor, but felt the toilets could do with a damn good clean and a few quid spent in repairs and renovation. Having said this, the food was great, with very decent portion sizes, at a very reasonable price.

Came here for the comedy night (which was great!!). Slightly disappointed by the lack of artisan beer and real ale tbh. There are many other local breweries than 'Wye Valley' not to offend but SO sick of Butty Bach! Please consider expanding on your offer akin to The Pelican. Otherwise beautiful pub with really nice staff. Would love to return.
