This has the potential to be the best restaurant in SE London, but there is a serious lack on ambition on the menu. I have been several times since opening and the food is always well executed, but the menu has evolved at a snails pace and is still essentially a gasto-pub menu. The dining room is well suited to a serve genuine restaurant food, or at least a more 'fine-dining' brasserie menu, which will make the place a destination. Unfortunately, the menu feels like it has been designed by an accountant, not a chef and this means the place won't attract local regulars, nor will it become a 'destination' people travel to. D&M was reviewed by a couple of national newspapers and the money spent on the building means it could become a real gem of a restaurant, but it is lacking atm. The staff all seem friendly, and a particular mention to Jamie, who tempted us to stay for dinner after enjoying a drink on the terrace.

Has this restaurant changed hands?? It is completely different to my last visit in December, where the restaurant was full and food excellent. The restaurant was pretty empty for a Saturday night, loads of empty tables. The waiting staff were excellent the Manger however was a flapper and didn’t like the waiter talking to us. The food was let down. On the website it states a smoked East Sussex bacon chop, with a fennel slaw and truffle chips. But the bacon chop was substituted for a tasteless piece of pork belly and a slice of fennel and no truffle on the chips. The sides were suppose to be romesco with broccoli. It was just broccoli with strange flavour. The cocktails and desserts were excellent. Most baffling was a disheveled man who appeared from the terrace were he had been having drink. He looked like he'd been in a fight he had blood all over his trousers and a bag of alcohol. He was known to the staff and manger were he proceeded to have conversation at the bar. Most fine dining restaurants wouldn’t have allowed this man in and I’m sure we weren’t the only ones who noticed.

Great location, nice waitress, but a pretty much totally useless kitchen!!! Sort it put Bromley needs you!! Overcooked chicken, teeth breaking cheese crisps and half an hour to produce two simple salads to an empty restaurant does not encourage glowing endorsement or returns

We had Salt and Slate cater for our wedding in June 2024. We held the reception at home with BBQ style menu for our 120 guests. Oliver was very accommodating and allowed us to adapt the menu choices to suit our day. Our guests had nothing but lovely things to say about the food. I was relaxed in the knowledge that the set up, cooking and serving of the food was all taken care of. Thank you Oliver and team! Would highly recommend the for any event.

A wonderful quintessential tearoom. Excellent food and service and the salt beef sandwiches to die for. In my view even better than served at the Brass Rail in Selfridges! Great selection of food and drinks. A good sign is that it is nearly always very busy.

Fantastic little cosy place with good down to earth home cooked food in a pretty cottage barn restaurant setting. Everything is piping hot, fresh and showcases the best of British. Amazing value for money anywhere not least leafy Chislehurst. All staff are super efficient and friendly and will accommodate your every need. Thank you very much for looking after us five gentlemen today.

Fabulous local gem with delicious food! Louis was fantastic from the start, efficiently replying to organise the booking. The sunday roast sides were abundant and scrumptious plus we were thrilled with the vegetarian option. What makes this place special is that you genuinely know the food is homemade and made with passion. The desserts were equally of a high standard with my mum raving about the eton mess. Plus it is all excellent value.
