We occasionally pop in to the crocus cafe at Dorney court and previously the experience is positive. However , we went for lunch today and ordered the new salad dishes from the menu. This was a mistake. I had something called a chickadilly salad which is honestly the worst dish I have ever tasted in any restaurant. It was described as chicken and cauliflower on a bed of spinach and new potatoes with a picallili mayo. I counted 4 small pieces of chicken and a few florets of cauliflower. New potatoes were fine but the spinach was smothered in mayo. About half a jar of mayo! After few bites it makes you feel like you want to vomit. Mayo is a garnish , not a main but I couldn’t eat any of it the taste of mayo was overwhelming . Don’t order it. You’ll waste you money. Stick with the basics like jacket potato or sandwich. Couple that with the fact it took 35 minutes to arrive it was a terrible performance. What a shame. One of my favourite places to go for a coffee has been demoted to non league and I won’t be going back any time soon.

Superb food, large portions and at a good price. The soup is to die for (celeriac) especially with the toasted cheese sourdough, the greek salad was also awesome. Service was great, good vibe. Better than has been for a while.

Tucked away in the grounds of Dorney Court this delightful garden centre café offers a tempting range of sweet and savoury treats but most of all we were impressed by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. This is not just a wonderful location but a perfect spot for tourist information.

As a frequent visitor to Crocus yesterday's experience was very disappointing. Myself and my friend both disabled and use walkers decided to pop in for lunch on our way to back Eton. We arrived at 2 50 my friend went to use the dosable toilet i checked the closing times on the board outside which stated its open until 4.30 and kitchen closes at 3.30 so I went inside I was greeted by a lovely young man who offered me the menus and said sit anywhere. No waitress came to me while I was waiting for my friend when she finally came over we ordered 2 teas and two egg mayonnaise open sandwiches she then informed us the kitchen had stopped serving, I said it states the kitchen closes at 3.30 and its only 3.02 so she went to ask the chef then she returned to say no the kitchen is closed. It's not like we were asking for anything to be cooked it was a sandwich but the chef wouldn't oblige. So unfortunately we left and won't be back, we met people as we were leaving and informed them the kitchen was closed so they left too. Also I'll be notifying my colleagues at Eton College about the disappointing treatment we received.

Would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Crocus at Dorney who helped us have such a memorable baby shower in the Pantry. The room was laid out beautifully; the afternoon tea was delicious (super fresh bread for the sandwiches!); and all staff were so warm, friendly and helpful. I was so worried about the weather with us due to have the event in the marque but Sam and the staff were so accommodating when we switched to the Pantry. Mum to be loved the day..so big thanks! Hope to have another event in the marque in your beautiful walled garden some day!

Enjoyed a great bunch here but, as a disabled person on crutches, I was not happy when a woman (possibly an employee!) sprinted up the ramp to get into the disabled loo just before I got there. She looked at me as if to say 'beat you!' Very thoughtless as she could have gone into the ladies loo next to it. Lovely food though!

We sat in a beautiful setting, under the trees. The furniture and area was immaculate. We ordered a sandwich, which was fresh and generous, plus coleslaw and chips. The coleslaw was lovely and creamy but the chips were overdone - too brown, crispy and small. We would have preferred larger, softer, paler chips for that homemade look and taste. The hot drinks were lovely. Staff were helpful and quick. Overall, a 'good' rating.

We arrived on time and had reserved a table . We made a very simple order. However the service was slow. When the breakfasts did come the order was wrong, there was confusion. a coffee was missing . an extra full breakfast arrived. one of the scambled eggs on toast did not arrive. anyway, we had our food and the children also had cake, we went to pay and it was over £145 ! I paid in full and asked for a receipt to then let the other guests know what to pay later. As we had young children I simply left and didnt think , I got home to split the bill to see we had been overcharged by over £23 and charged a £13 service charge !!! I called straight away to be advised a refund would be issued. It did not process into my account, I called again saturday , still no refund, allowed for the bank holiday and still not paid, I called AGAIN , promised a call back and nothing. I am now owed £35.00 !!!! Had it been an extra coffee I would have let it go but this is shocking . I wont be going again and I would advise anyone who does to check their bill !!!

Went with friends for a late breakfast. This is a popular venue but there were tables available both inside and outside. We all had the "Rowers brekafast"; (equivalent of a 'full English, but we are next door to the Dorney rowing Lake!) This was excellent. One of my friends had a gluten free meal, which was no trouble. good quality is good and the staff are very friendly and cheerful. Prices are also similar to other establishments. Thoroughly recommended.

It was a struggle to find the entry door - and turned out not to have been worth it. It used to be an easy option but we haven't been in a few years and we saw little to encourage us back. Mediocre coffee at a high price and not really much by way of service or atmosphere to make up for it.

We've been to Crocus a number of times over the years, and have always been impressed with the food, but today was the first time we have attended one if their events. We arrived a little late for breakfast (event started at 8:30, we were seated around 8:50), but everything was completely in control. The staff were dressed as elves and brought some real magic to our girls. The small details had all been thought of - We had pre-ordered our breakfasts, and a high chair was already in place, there was a personalized Christmas card on our table and a pack of Christmas activities for the kids to enjoy. We were invited up to meet Santa in his grotto, where the girls had to have their fingerprint "scanned" to check they had made the nice list, Santa was engaging and the elves took a family photo. The age appropriate presents had been organised and labelled ready and waiting for the girls too as an extra sprinkling of magic.Breakfast was the usual Crocus high quality, and the experience was rounded off with some cookie decorating. I had originally thought that at £15 for adults and £13 for children that the experience was very expensive, but having a meal all together and seeing Santa to me makes this a more than fair price.

I took a group of 43 people here on 21 Sep. I had made prior arrangements for coffee and biscuits on our arrival and warned that we would all be coming back later in the day for tea. The coffee was waiting for us all on arrival and the biscuits were homemade and delicious. The service was cheerful and later, when we went back for tea, with people choosing from the main menu, just the same. One of our group said: 'The service in the cafe was amazingly slick and well-planned'. Top marks all round.

I live local and was exciting to try this café out for lunch. I had grabbed a coffee in passing and was excited to show my sister to lunch. It was immediately disappointed. Waited approximately 10 minutes just to be seated. Once seated we sat there again for approximately 25 minutes. We weren’t sure if it was table service or not, and eventually walked toward the counter to be sold someone would be with us shortly. There was no excuse for this really. There were plenty of waiters/waitresses but they just didn’t really seem to know what they were doing. There was very limited options on the menu, all at quite a steep price. As a café I would have expected the basics of a panini at the very least or a jacket potato but none of these options were on the menu.Eventually I spent £9.00 on a fish finger sandwhich. My sister ordered a salad and chips. When it initially arrive my sister prompted the waitress that she was still waiting for her chips. Approximately 10 minutes later a waiter walked past, and again requested the chips. He came back a short while later and they were never put through on the order.During our time there, we could see at least 5 other tables who had the same issue as us, where they all have to get up to request to order food.Very disappointing and expensive. Won’t be coming for lunch again.

Been to a c ouple of garden centre cafes locally in recent weeks, and the Crocus Cafe was very nicely set up for the Summer! I visited with my partner and you have to walk through the garden centre outdoor area to reach the cafe, which is very nice and is like a fairytale style entrance as a resultThe cafe inside looks really nicely done, however because of the sun we decided to sit outside where there are tents set up to provide some shade. We ordered at the table, I had a fish finger sandwich with chips and everything came very quickly and seemed to be done entirely in house, including the tartar sauce with capers which I really likeIt took quite a while to order though and then after our meal we were waiting quite a while to order more drinks, in the end we decided to go as it was taking too long to get any service however the experience we did have was very nice and all the staff were very polite, but it's probably because it was quite busy when we visited that it took some time to get to everyoneWe will be back though, hopefully it will be a bit quieter then though

We visited the Dorney Court Cafe today and was initially greeted at the door by a very welcoming and friendly face. I asked if they were busy and she said no as it was very wet. We went up to the counter to order immediately as there was no one queueing at all and the seating area was about 20% occupied. My friend wanted ham egg and chips but didn’t want ham and asked if she could swap the ham for fish fingers as they were also on the menu. “No “ said the person at the till”because it holds up the queue “. We said there is no queue as we were the only people waiting. “The chef doesn’t do that because it causes a delay when we’re busy”. Came the reply. We explained that they didn’t look busy and we’d been told they werent busy today. “Ok I’ll ask the chef” came the reluctant reply. She came back and said we could have fish fingers egg and chip. So we paid up and sat down..... Alas when the dinner came it was their fish finger and chip meal with no egg!,,, what a disappointment for my friend. She’d wish she’d just had the ham egg and chips and wasted the ham. Lovely setting but won’t be going back in a hurry.

What used to be a fail safe, quality cafe with useful outdoor space for children, is now an inconsistent and shabby venue with questionable customer service.Food is hit and miss with menu descriptions sometimes not reflecting what you actually get. The outdoor space used to be a lovely grassy area with toys for children, like mini John Deere tractors. They haven't bothered to re-seed the grass ahead of summer, so there are large bare patches, broken toys and a strong smell of sewage at times. The only positive things are the investment into the decor inside and the added seating areas. Otherwise, clear cost cutting and a lack of investment prevails.

The staff however were doing a great deal of waiting around - 4 girls behind the counter doing nothing and seemingly not wanting to do anything - even smile! Or suggest what we could order perhaps or be welcoming or apologetic. The manager (?) spoke to us and advised all the issues they have overcome but did not offer a coffee while we waited or any other resolution - seemed quite happy to see us walk away - again! Something has gone quite wrong with this place in the last six months or so. What used to be good value, decent food is now quite disappointing. I recently ordered a something from the menu, clearly marked vegan. When it came with dairy in it, I queried this and was told I needed to specify I was vegan when ordering so they could substitute the yoghurt dressing for hummus! Talk about poor food labelling - lucky I didn't have a food allergy. I gave it a second go some weeks later but again the food was overcooked, poorly presented and bad value. I noticed others on surrounding tables making simular comments so it wasn't just me. Really sad as the renovation they did this year looks great. Someone just needs to have a work with the chef.

Since new management, food has gone downhill and more expensive. Ham and chips was truly awful, slimmy and tasteless. Fish stew was cold and pretty tasteless as well and very sharp with tomato sauce, Wont be going back there again for a long time as we were regulars before.

Empfehlenswert, wenn man sich bei den Blumen nicht entscheiden kann und erst einmal Kaffee und Kuchen zur Entscheidungsfindung braucht.

We’ve been taking our granddaughter here for a year or so, including the time when the refurbishment was taking place and the cafe was in a leaky tent in the grounds. It’s become something of a Sunday late morning routine. We love the walled garden and the cafe has always been very friendly.

Nice cafe, you can get a tea for under £2. The sliced cake was a bit dry but it was a hot day. I hope they will consider getting some better glasses for soft drinks and getting rid of plastic straws. More shaded outdoor seating would also be nice.

Should you find yourself traveling through Windsor and Eton. Perhaps on a walk or bike ride, this is a wonderful stop. A local garden shop that has a small store of local foods, alongside a cafe with indoor/outdoor seating where you'll find a proper spot of cream n' tea (that's afternoon tea and scones, with jam and clotted cream for us Yanks). If you've got room in your luggage, there are lots of wonderful gifts to carry back home. From meats and cheeses to beer and wine, and everything in between.

Following form my last review in Nov 2017, I have revisited this café and found a vast improvement. There has been an overhaul both inside and out with enlarged dining area with tasteful décor, revamped gardens with stone patio area but still retaining a play area for the younger ones. Staff are very nice and helpful and the garden centre attached is re-stocked ready for the Spring season.

Visited the refurbished restaurant today and was very impressed. Bright and airy with a quirky feel. Was really spoilt for choice with the lunch menu, but eventually decided on the sweet potato falafel, hummus , bean salad and Pitta bread. The food was delicious and at £6.95 an absolute bargain. Fortunately I am local so I will be back soon to try other dishes on the menu. Would definitely recommend

Liked the enlarged format and layout of the restaurant. Note there is s section which is dog free. Menu was pretty limited - sandwiches, soups and a few hot dishes but no jacket potatoes for example. The coronation chicken sandwich was incredibly spicy but the ham eggs and chips was fresh and well prepared.

Made it bigger. Lost character and great kitchen shop. Staff all seemed a little stressed out- maybe too big for amount of staff.

I ordered the Coronation Chicken Sandwich, which should be called the granary loaf with coronation sauce. The slices of bread were at least 1.5 inches thick: each slice, there was hardly any filling and what there was, was only sultanas and sauce, hardly any chicken. Definitely not worth the money. Shame.

We visited with friends and three children. The outside play area is excellent with a giant Wendy house and tree house. Plenty of seating inside and out.

Have been to Dorney kitchen many, many times over the past couple of years. It's perfect in summer, sitting outdoors, while the kids play (even older kids enjoy themselves).

What a beautiful little cafe! Recently moved to the area and was excited to have a cafe just 5 minutes walk from my house.Although some minor adjustments could be made to make it perfect. The whole garden centre has an organic save the planet feel which I love ! Although there is nothing on the menus that is vegan (which is the ultimate save the planet lifestyle). When enquiring about what you cook the breakfast vegetables in I was told butter, and there was no way to cook them in vegetable oil, which was very disappointing.Had to settle for beans on toast with no butter. All in all not a great experience but I did receive fantastic service from a young lady with red hair and was the only member off staff with a smile on her face. She made the visit worth wile.Hopefully when I return you have made the small adjustments to your menu.

Re visited today 15th August, following a long absence, was not impressed last time, but thought would have another go, wish I hadn't!! Supposedly had a revamp and things vastly improved??? Question what has improved? Still overpriced, poor quality food☹️, average service, dirty cutlery, need I go on! Only wanted a snack, hence ordered a Mature Cheddar & chutney sandwich on white, followed by a slice of 'homemade toffee cake' to share. Doorstep sandwich arrived, huge crusts limited bread, which was not 'fresh today' cheese ok, but had 'white edging' quote "this is due to being a mature cheddar and the way it is vacuum packed".Salad limp, homemade coleslaw ok but very runny! We left more sandwich than we ate, due to being predominately thick stale crusts. Cake looked appetising but tasted bland, quote from Mother, "nothing special". To say we were not impressed would probably be an understatement. Toilets ok, could do with 'staff check backs' to ensure clean. Disabled toilet very low unit, not the usual slightly higher unit as in other similar disabled toilet locations. One positive about this location is the outside area good for families with a few toys available to occupy children whilst adults talk. Pleasant location is probably the best compliment I can give. Would not recommend driving out of your way to visit this garden centre cafe, there are nicer, better value cafes with attentive staff who value their customers and the money they spend, try one of those instead.

Visited today for the first time on the recommendation of a friend. Had a coffee and homemade fruit scone, which was huge! It was fresh, light and very tasty. The cappuccino was good, but only available in one size (small), so we had to have two.I will return again if I'm the area again.

Had an absolutely delicious Rowers breakfast today...cooked to perfection, good quality meats and a lovely bubble and squeak under the egg...Nice garden area for the kids to play afterwards...Only drawback was the sewer smell in the playground...needs sorting...The food is expensive but backs it up...special breakfast occasions I would suggest

Have often cycled past but this was the first time I had a chance to stop, and I didn't feel warmly welcomed. A sign by the gate asked cyclists to use their racks rather than take the bikes in, which may be understandable if the racks weren't both completely hidden from the cafe and right by the entrance so anyone walking in would pass them. The "racks" themselves were wooden and some of the uprights would be easily dislodged, which didn't feel very secure. Overall, not a safe situation to leave a bike. The coffee was good but there were no bins for rubbish and the prices were around 50% higher than other cafes of similar quality.Pleasant atmosphere, great for families with a good looking children's play area and the tables inside and out were well spaced so it felt private. The shops were pleasant but only had a limited range of products, which were also at fairly high prices.Overall, good quality if a little pricey.

I was very impressed - you have certain preconception of garden centre cafes but this was a lovely coffee shop.We sat in the garden, very pleasant and relaxing. Very well maintained and tables cleaned down efficiently. There are no table numbers outside but if you order food you are given a number.I ordered the Ham, egg and chips - it came out piping hot, clearly made fresh. The eggs and ham were very tasty and full of flavour, but the chips were nothing special. The cafe offers a wide range of homemade cakes which looked very tempting - sadly none are dairy free so I couldn't try.One thing to note is that no hot food is served between 1130 and 1200 as this is when the kitchen switches from breakfast to lunch menus.

Top place for a carvery. We come here frequently. Staff are really lovely and it's a nice atmosphere, unlimited soft drinks are well worth it. Lots on offer but be careful booking a table late in the evening as there's a higher chance they'll run out of meat. Heartbroken you've taken the dauphinoise potato/hot pot dish off the carvery. Please bring it back! My only complaint is needing to get the drinks on the table a bit quicker. We're often still waiting for them after having already started our meals. Lots of discounts and deals available if you sign up to their mailing list or download the app so that's worth doing too.

Nice little classic tea rooms. We had sandwiches along with tea and coffee. Followed by a nice peice of cake. Lady serving was very nice and prepared good food in nice time.

We come here quite often, for special occasions, birthdays etc. Today, I had quite literally one of the best steaks, I've ever had. Period. The chef deserves a massive raise! It was cooked perfectly. Starters (calamari, koftas and camebert) and drinks all came out hot, promptly and were all scrumptious! Mains (steaks, chicken supreme tagliatelle, pie and burger) were all fantastic! So stuffed, couldn't manage dessert, but thank you so much! Hats off, Palmers Arms has done it again!!
