Dolphin pub in Wycombe

The wait for the food was too long, and when it came it was mediocre, which was disappointing as our friends had raved about it. We wanted to meet for dinner at a place we knew they'd enjoy, so I made the booking. There was one table, admittedly quite large, before us, but the restaurant was otherwise empty so it still should not have taken forty five minutes to get our meals. At no time did anyone come to apologize for the wait or explain it. The four of us were were given two (not four) poppadoms we hadn't asked for, on arrival, and when my friend politely asked if, as the booking party, my husband and I could have a complimentary drink because of the interminable wait, the waitress argued that she'd already given us free poppadoms! Two, between four if us! She got my husband a drink (but not me, who'd actually booked!) and added it to the bill. We asked to speak to a manager who was very apologetic and knocked 10% off the bill, so in effect there were two complimentary drinks in the end, but the damage was done. I've honestly had better food from Indian takeaways and this was the worst experience I've had in an Indian 'restaurant' in 40 years. Normally they're all amazing, for service and food. This place was terrible. We won't be going back.

Really impressed with the Dolphin Eye. There was a considerable number of us and everyone said how fantastic the food, staff and atmosphere was. There’s a great choice, all the ingredients are so fresh and nothing is too much trouble. The prices are extremely reasonable. They really went the extra mile to make sure my birthday was enjoyed by everyone. I cannot recommend the Dolphin Eye enough, it has now become our restaurant of choice.

Great venue and really welcoming. The staff are so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We have ate here a many times with family and friends. The food is always really good, really fresh and there is so much choice. Very good value for money. The bar has a lovely atmosphere with lots of friendly faces. Highly recommend this venue for food and drinks.

I visited Dolphin eye after few months for a take away for the family and was pleasantly surprised to see the new ambience. The management has changed since and the restaurant is now beautifully decorated in red. The staff was welcoming and the food was nicely cooked and tasty. Visiting it again over the coming weekend for a sit-down meal.

Amazing Nepalese food with a friendly staff and great service. The chicken chilli and chicken 65 are 5 star dishes and also the goat curry.

My dining experience at DOLPHIN EYE with my family was truly exceptional. From the moment we entered, the welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff made us feel right at home. The food was just too delicious and staff were quite knowledgeable about the food, helped us choosing the right one for my kids . enough free parking space ..will definitely visit again soon .

Used everest over a year ago and really liked it. Just got our delivery and it was absolutely disgusting. My husband is indian and has thrown his away as the sauce of the curry is bitter. I ordered chicken tikka masala and does not take anything like it. Weird sloppy sauce Also the dip they sent were in a tiny pot woth 1 teaspoon in. Just avoid there are so many nice curry places around and this is not one of them.

The curry had Literally no flavour. It was like water. The chicken was smaller than a chicken nuggets and really under cooked. The naan was overcooked. The rice actually wasn’t that bad until i found a hair in it.

This was our second visit to the Dolphin. Last time we went with the meat fest. Tonight we went for the fish dishes. I had Goan fish curry and Claire went with the Fish chilli dry fry starter. Along with a peshwari naan and a daal this was more than enough for two. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. The genial Nepalese owner was an absolute delight, informative and very attentive. We love this place. Looking forward to the next visit.

This is a must if you live in Totteridge. I've lived here all my life and I have to say, the current owner has done an amazing job. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is buzzing and the smell of the food is mouthwatering. If your in the area, this is well worth a visit.

Taken here by our near neighbours after moving to the area nearly a year ago. They had a great meal here and wanted to introduce us. The food is superb, wide variation, affordably priced so even a school teacher can afford to eat out. We will be returning.

Love the food and the drinks here when we came here sometime ago, it then stopped serving great food for a while. Then we heard that it had started serving food again, so we came back only not to be disappointed. First visit was a roast dinner, had the chicken and gammon roast, which was a little unusual but went with it. It was lovely and tasty. I had noticed they also did pork, Lamb and Beef roast also, but I thought I would try them on the next visit. second visit I was looking forward to the Beef but heard they had none going, so I tried the indian menu with Chicken tikka cooked in a clay oven. The food was great. Others tried the roast chicken and gammon. The Vegetables where slightly under cooked, they could of been done a little longer but otherwise again was not disappointed. We told the owner about the vegetables, so hopefully on our return next time the vegetables will be softer.

Visited for lunch, we were the only people there certainly not a problem as the fish and chips were fresh and hot.

the Dolphin have just started to serve food once again, the menu is largely indian and Nepalese with a small english menu too, the food was absolutely delicious, my husband had calamari for a starter and it was the best we have ever tasted, there were six people in our party and every single dish was outstanding, will def visit again

A quite night, and because of the heavy snow not too many customers. Not lightening fast and when my Sunday roast arrived it was on a cold plate! When will people learn that even hot food served on a cold plate will cool rapidly!

Went to Dolphin over the weekend with the in-laws for some food (steaks) and drinks and again was very happy with the quality of food, service and generally pleasant and warm environment.

We stumbled across this pub after going for a walk in the nearby woods.

It is such a shame that a pub in a good location is let to be run down, it's dirty no atomosphere and the beer is rotten, could be good but I think the new owners are letting it be run down so a block of flats and be built on the site.

Popped in for a chat with friends, I was told the pub had been refurbished, Ordered a drink and light meal. Drink had floaters, glass was dirty. Meal was inedible, we all left 10 minutes after meal arrived. Will not return.

Staff were very friendly and helpful but management has changed and the portion sizes of the food are smaller. The quality of the food not as good. They don't offer free WiFi like they used to. Could do with more choices on the menu

10 of us we all had a fabulous meal. The staff are friendly been here a few times, new menu now much better.

Not many places to enjoy a pub lunch in Wycombe which is why I like the dolphin, staff are nice, it's quiet and the foods really good! You can either go here with your partner or to take your nan to lunch which I have recently done both times and enjoyed them thoroughly

Nice pub at lunchtimes for food, when it's busy though kitchen can't cope with orders, it's seems busy 5pm on wards with workers drinking, and kinda puts me off from going in there that time of evening for food. Had sharing platter this was very nice and burger with cheese and chips lovely also. And a baguette with cheese bacon and chicken with bbq sauce, nice also. Puddings are lovely also. Definitely worth going lunchtimes for a visit.

Food is nice, they have a good range on the menu, family friendly pub, never too busy you can go in a relax. Only bad experience was one annoying waitress, other than that can't say anything bad

We have visited the Dolphin many times, and the staff are always so friendly. We are very friendly with one of the barmen and one of the chefs, as they are always chatty and light hearted, and the atmosphere is so friendly. The burgers are the best around! The burger itself is high quality, proper beef mince, the sauce is incredible and the salad inside is always fresh. The chips are crispy and the onion rings are amazing! Perfect for a family meal or treat. They cater for children and have a ramp for wheelchair or disabled access. We'll never go anywhere else!

Visited on Tuesday for a meal to be greeted by people walking out. Gent in kitchen scrubs was talking first in doorway then at bar to someone about why folk had left and he made his views on what customers could expect very plain. Apparently cooking from frozen was too much effort, defrosting items too difficult and tough if items were unavailable. Apparently he'd had a hard day in the kitchen and seemed to be the paying punters could suffer if he had to !Nice to hear this conversation in the bar and convinced me that if this was what the staff thought of the customers, then what approach did they take to food preparation ?Have eaten there previously but recently food seems to have deteriorated (partners steak 20% gristle, portion sizes varying, items 'unavailable' yet no explanation).Unlikely to visit again.

Went here with partner to have a simple microwaved meal(which it all is) only to be told thre was a 45 minute wait on food! The pub was empty (see pic) so i took this photo and put a feedback online and did'nt bother ordering food. Next day went in for a drink only to be told that we were barred because of our feedback, it really comes to something when you cant have your say without being barred.Be very carefull if you visit this pub the managers dont like complaints, would recommend the crown inn just up the road.

Didn't eat here but the clientele seemed to be enjoying theirselves. Beers good as it's real ale which helps raise it to average. Barman on our visit kept us waiting. That's ok but it's amazing what a 'be with you in a minute' can achieve. The killer? This pub either needs to shut until five to spring or invest in some heating. It wasn't cool, it was uncomfortably cold. Even Captain Oates walked out informing us he may be some time, closely followed by us on our way to a warm rival. Don't use this inn at this time of year unless you've got your coat on.

A local pub that demonstrates that you get what you pay for. The atmosphere is friendly during the day and the drinks are well priced. The food is a little bit "pub dining by numbers" and it all tastes pre prepared. It isn't bad but is also isn't excellent. If you want to have a few pints and a quick burger to go with it then this is for you. If you want a freshly ground burger with heaps of taste and an incidental drink then try somewhere else.

Popped in as its my daughters local and the whole family (6 of us) sat comfortably at a table. Good pub food which was reasonable and filling, good portions and a good choice of ales

This pub is good value food the menu is your typical chain menu the food is good and you do not have to pay silly prices very cheap. It is clean and staff are friendly also the drinks are cheap ideal place to stop for a bite to eat. It is not an upmarket bistro so do not expect this but it is cheap and good value

Ate here for the first time in almost 20 years on the recommendation of a friend.Title of the review says it all - no reason to go too much further.Everything we ordered arrived as per the menu - the quality of the steaks going in to the kitchen seemed to match the prices so were not the best we have ever eaten but were well cooked to the grade ordered. The staff were very friendly and courteous and our waitress smiled all the time.Overall an excellent meal at the price spent and meeting all expectations.

My partner and I are regulars at the Dolphin, it's so convenient for us but that's not why we go on a regular basis.This pub offers good food and drink for excellent prices, it also has a friendly bunch of staff which is rare these days, if I'm asked where is a good pub is I always recommend The Dolphin Phil and linzi who are the managers here work their socks off but never seem to stop smiling if they ever moved on they would be hard to follow.

We've made several visits to this pub for both dinner and lunch. It has never failed to satisfy. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is no frills but spotlessly clean and very comfortable. This is a no-frills pub serving incredible value food. The menu is extensive and it took some time to narrow the choices down. The value really is staggering, and the food is good, plentiful and tasty. Both the chap behind the bar and the lady who brought us our food were very friendly. I will be back to try one of my other choices!

Normally very good but after today will not be going any more took ages for food to arrive then informed the wife they had no jacket potatoes unless she wanted to wait a hour when her meal arrived the chicken breast was so over cooked a chisel would have been better than a knife then they forgot my pudding all we got from the people money out the till with hardly any appolgy at all waste of a afternoon

I use the Dolphin at least twice a month. The managers are so nice, nothing too much trouble and always up for a chat. The food is great, never had a bad meal. Where else can you get a steak and a drink for £ 7. Kids menu portions are very generous. There are tables outside if you wish to go al fresco! The pub is nestled in woodland so if you feel like a walk it's idel.....
